What's some advice you wish you received much earlier
"When people come to you to establish a boundary or a need or to express hurt feelings, that's a compliment, not an attack. That is them wanting to develop the relationship and trusting you to listen and care to do better. I will never get over how weird it feels to have tragic and emotional chapters of your life where you just also still go to work, and the grocery store, and see funny videos online all while feeling such paralyzing fear and heartache
life just goes on no matter what
#been thinking about this lately so it was interesting to see this post come up on my dash#I feel like this reality truly hit me over the past few years#I had to go work the day after my friend took her life#I had to keep studying and attending class at college despite struggling with debilitating depression#to keep paying bills and buying groceries and cleaning the house amidst thoughts of suicide#life just...keeps moving#it's so hard#but I'm trying to remember that even though the world won't stop turning#God is gracious to give new mercies every morning#just gotta keep trusting Him to give me the strength to take on one day at a time#anyways apologies for all the tags

grape hyacinths are one of my favorite spring ephemerals. not only are they adorable, but the flowers can be used for making syrup that tastes faintly and sweetly of grapes.
and if that’s not your thing, they can also be used for making color-changing ink. the initial ink might look purple in color, but as it hits the paper and begins to dry it will turn blue. and if you add an acid, it will turn pink. and if you add a basic it will turn green (you can do this with the syrup, too!)
this happens because of naturally-occurring pigments called anthocyanins – the same pigments found in purple cabbage, violets, and blueberries!
