Am I being silly/missing something? Or am I mildly onto something by thinking about what role the corivality was for the horned axe. I’m watching some lore stuff (Handsome’s library is amazing btw, I hope they upload more), Ofc they mention that the horned axe was an edge hour while they were a god-from-stone.
And I just can’t help but think about what that means for the dayad bit. Is the edge dyad trope invented by the colonel and the lionsmith? Or did it exist in a different way? I almost imagine that the horned axe was its own dyad, like the wolf divided, simultaneously opening and shutting doors depending on worthiness. But it could also be that it MADE dyads through the act of splitting things, and opening them, instead of BECOMING them.
It could also very possibly be that this idea that edge inherently means a rivalry only came after the colonel and the lionsmith, which also presents the more interesting question of what “egde” meant for others. I wonder if it was a totally different, and much older aspect, like the newer ones added in book of hours, like sky, rose, or scale. Something older and far more primal than these newer, more specific aspects we see in the present time. Idk interesting to think about.

It’s also unfortunate that every time I see someone crying “well, if they were always there show me where they have been in the lore?”
As much as it’s easy to dunk on them and ask how we can be really sure that there were initially 10,000 custodes if not every one has been named. The real answer is that it’s misogyny lol, the (mostly) male writers simply didn’t write about the women that COULD have been there because they didn’t care. But unfortunately explaining that to anyone currently popping a blood vessel over women existing in their human setting is impossible.
On thé note of gender, the more important question I’ve had towards the writing of the necrons is why THEY also have a binary gender system lol. Or any of the aliens for that matter (apart from the orks I suppose). Of course I KNOW why (the writers were boring and see sex as immutable and constant), but it’s incredibly funny to think about the fact that like nearly every xenos race (even the robots!) have human-like binary construct of gender.
Watching Twitter melt down about fem custodes has given me 10 years of youth. War gamers are the most overly dramatic people ever, man. Losing ur mind over WOMEN.
I also think it’s so telling how much they’re screaming at people, telling us how this actually “hurts the other female factions” which is like straight out of real life oppression playbooks too. So fascinating. I actually might care about custodes now that I have my 10ft tall super woman ❤️❤️

abstract and modern art haters are sooo snobby like klein literally Created an entirely new pigment and then painted a canvas in a way where the brush strokes wouldn't be visible. the insinuation that people with no skill could reproduce that is so annoying because unless you are skilled at color mixing and painting you definitely couldn’t lmao

It’s funny that I’ve been listening to “skeleton songs”, their podcast (amazing btw for people who love weather factory, and haven’t heard of it). But in season 3 ep4. The writer literally talks about this, and how the lack of rituals was more a result of the insanely fast dev time, which, fair enough! And I’m glad that Alexis got his time to fucking cook cuz boy did he in book of hours
I’m also still thinking about book of hours (maybe cuz I’m playing stardew and the best way I BOH to people was occult stardew).
But it’s so impressive how much it improved on the most disappointing element of cultist simulator in the spell casting. Like I looove the idea of the cultist sim rituals, but it’s sorta a shame that there isn’t too much to do with them? Like other than summoning, I don’t think I ever used any of the skill switcharoos, or needed to restore my decrepitude. The winter ones funny and super thematic but it’s a shame it’s kinda the only one of its kind.
And I think the devs kinda realized that, given how fleshed out each and every aspect is, and their unique combinations. You also see this cool element of how the aspects are used in more mundane things (like the teas). And how that evolves into much more powerful tools (the knock venom, or the swaddled thunder).
They multiplied all the cool, thematic ideas made in “the end is beautiful”. Like even as I write I’m realizing how cool it is, that by using heart, the aspect of birth and life, you literally “grow” a storm or something like that.
The more this game sits with me the more fascinated I am, truly excited for that dlc. The aspects are just soo well thought through, I can’t think of any other piece of media who’s basic premises are SO compelling that I continue to mull over the thematic depth months after.

Spoilers for the newest jjk chapter 256. But holy does it make me mad the more people make claims and judgements before the series is done. And just power scalers in general
“Wow choso couldn’t handle one fuckin hit” GUESS WHAT BITCH? “Oh maki is a total fucking fraud, for someone on Tojis level she sure did throw” 3 BLACK FLASHES AND STILL STANDING YOU IMBECILE.
Very excited for the coming chapters, I think this might’ve been one of my fav to date, the action, the build up for yuji. And the way it made it so clear that every power scaler and hater right now just needs to like, wait and let Gege cook!

Someone needs to make me uninstall literally every other social media app, because they’re all just so braindead. Like, does Twitter and tiktok just lobotomize their users? or am I just gullible thinking that every bad take I see is genuine, and not rage bait so these people can afford their next Twitter blue sub.
No this was NOT caused by randos complaining about the minecraft April fools update again, like clockwork. YES I am normal.

Also while I’m ranting about DND, I’m so pleased that I finally was able to use my favourite monster in its perfect way, the Aboleth.
I adore these weird catfish psychics for totally incomprehensible reasons. But I find them soooo compelling as a monster who is more frightening socially than in combat. The fun i had roleplaying this hyper intelligent, sociable, yet utterly alien creature is gonna stick with me forever.
Partly because I had such good players who were willing to engage this creature intellectually. It was just so interesting using their own dreams of power to create division. Constantly trying to sew deceit and tensions between the people who knew they couldn’t trust this thing and wanted it dead, and the people who AGREED that it couldn’t be trusted, but couldn’t help but be interested in the possibilities it offered.
And even WHEN this very religious party decides that this creature who’s eventual goals are KILLING THE GODs can’t be trusted. Having them realize that they cannot kill this thing in any way that matters, unless they wanna go hunting in the plane of water is sooo tense, especially after such a betrayal (part of the party really was tempted to work with this thing).
To let them know that killing this thing is to sacrifice one of their children’s children’s children’s way down the line is such a fun threat to hold over their head. Idk man I just adore aboleths, I gotta find a new fav monster cuz I’m almost running out of ones ive always wanted to run but never have.

Something about dnd angst is fuckin unmatched man. One of my players had a kinda basic “amnesia” background (for decent reasons).
so when he asked me if anyone from his old life contacted him, I made it an old ex who he left to pursue a more powerful position . Equally as mad as she was relieved to learn that the person she’s talking too isn’t the person who left her so hurt.
The monster I used was one that makes you forget about it, and it’s victims (IYKYK). Resulting in this tense scene between the couple where he was getting upset that she wasn’t believing his concern about a threat she literally could not see.
And when they killed the baddie and this spell was lifted, I expected him to still be upset and very “I told you so” in his confrontation. But as they walked up HE was apologetic, soft and understanding why she acted the way she did. BRO I FELT like I was gonna cry, like my player was genuinely so sweet with this character who’s processing this horrific tragedy she was unable to stop. I felt just as conflicted as I have in real relationships, not sure whether I wanna be needlessly upset or just to be held.
Woooooof man, like I enjoyed how this monster played, a whole theme of forgetting people from the past. The very melancholy experience of a whole town feeling the loss of their family and friends all at once. God this game is something else man.

I’m not gonna fact check this, but going to instead use this to baselessly fuel my dislike of Herbert and what he could have done.
I’ll write that rant eventually
You’re telling me that Paul Atreides was originally intended to be female so that he and Feyd-Rautha can fuck?? Well what’s stopping them now??! Everything bad in Dune could have been prevented if y’all were not against gay marriage and put effort into researching the fertility-enhancing properties of spice instead

This is my actual “Roman Empire”. No hate to classics nerds but classics are so overplayed, learning about south and meso American cultures and reeling with the (almost) total loss, and erasure of those vibrant cultures just makes me feel so much.
