Participants on floats for a 血社火/xue shehuo ("blood festivities") parade in Shaanxi province as part of new year's festivities. 社火/shehuo is an sort of festival entertainment in China.

Xue shehuo is a folk custom originating from Shaanxi province. Like with most festival entertainment, the characters are derived from folk legend and opera, with xue shehuo's main distinction being the bloody and macabre dress up. The procession is led by Wu Song, a hero from the classic Chinese novel 水浒传/Water Margin, followed by 13 hired thugs of Ximen Qing (an antagonist of the same novel), who have all been killed in different ways. The general message of the display is good (depicted by Wu Song) conquering evil.
