In what campaigners are calling a world first, Quebec’s National Assembly voted Tuesday afternoon to ban new oil and gas exploration and shut down existing drill sites within three years, even as the promoters behind the failed Énergie Saguenay liquefied natural gas (LNG) project try to revive it as a response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“By becoming the first state to ban oil and gas development on its territory, Quebec is paving the way for other states around the world and encouraging them to do the same,” Montreal-based Équiterre said in a release.
“However, it is important that the political will that made this law possible be translated into greenhouse gas reductions in the province, since Quebec and Canada have done too little to reduce their GHGs over the past 30 years.”

Hi if you live in the USA please read this!! President Biden to stop the willow project. Here’s a letter you can send.
With a projected lifespan of 30 years and accumulated greenhouse gas emissions of more than 280 million metric tons, ConocoPhillips’ massive Willow project in Alaska would be – if approved by your administration – a carbon bomb. Now that the Bureau of Land Management recently recommended approval of the drilling plan, this is a good time to pause and remember that America’s Arctic is warming about four times faster than the rest of the planet, causing permafrost to melt and Arctic communities to literally be consumed by the sea. In a display that would be comedic if it weren’t so absurd, ConocoPhillips is literally deploying equipment to refreeze and stabilize permafrost so they can continue to extract destructive fossil fuels from beneath the tundra. You campaigned for the presidency on a promise to “lead the world to address the climate emergency and lead through the power of example.” You assured the nation that we would achieve a 100-percent clean energy economy and net-zero emissions by 2050. But with a projected 30-year lifespan, in 2050 Willow would still be pumping out greenhouse gases, and its infrastructure would have resulted in more widespread oil development in the Western Arctic. You have the power to defuse this carbon bomb. Please, for your climate legacy and the health of the world, reject BLM’s shortsighted recommendation. Stop Willow with a formal record of decision that selects a “no action” alternative

"If the reindeer ecosystems are lost, ecologists predict, the planet will heat up even faster and its carbon sinks will disintegrate. A report this year from the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change notes climate change has increased the vulnerability of reindeer herding “to the extent that its long-term sustainability is threatened.” It noted Arctic and sub-Arctic temperatures have already risen 2 degrees Celsius (3.6°F) in the past 30 years."

we are imperfect mortal beings, aware of that mortality even as we push it away, failed by our very complication, so wired that when we mourn our losses we also mourn, for better or for worse; ourselves, as we were, as we are, as we are no longer, as we will one-day not be at all. -Feb 22, 2022

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, believe every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity" -The Alchemist

In Brazilian Portugese we don’t say “I miss you.” we say “Saudade.” which is an untranslateable expression for “Loneliness, melancholy and nostalgy - a feeling of former excitement and happiness which turned to emptiness when the referred person or object is gone.” and I think that’s really deep.
