Of course, true to her word, she ends up graciously accepting the books off his hands with an all too eager nod rolling off her lone head before proceeding to subsequently cradle them against her chest. "Yup, I believe you, don't worry!" came her casual reassurance just mere moments later. Honestly, if Vivian had been offended by Keith's sudden, abrupt departure, then it certainly didn't show from the way she reacted.
Why, not only was she delighted to be relied upon, being able to demonstrate how manly she was by holding onto a weight heavier than he could bear proved oddly satisfying; therefore, she had no qualms, standing around and waiting for him to come back. The moment Keith returned, however, Vivian's gaze would absentmindedly find itself wandering back down towards the basket he was wheeling around; only, hearing his voice soon makes her head snap upwards again, and little by little, a carefree smile begins marring her lips.
"Oh, don't mention it, Keefy! As a hero, it's my duty to lend my assistance to those in need; besides, according to Proverbs 21:13, 'whoever ignores the poor when they cry for help will also cry for help and not be answered'," she insists while extending her arms out so that he may at last retrieve the books. The triumph and pride she exhibited, though, ultimately became short-lived, because at the next moment, she was reminded she didn't have enough money to buy the books she wanted, causing her to grimace. Ah, how truly awkward... especially considering Keith probably made that offer to at least seem somewhat decent. To that end, it doesn't take long for her brows to droop as she casts a nervous glance over his shoulder.
Tumblr media
"A-About that, uh... I kinda underestimated how pricey books would be here, so I'm afraid I don't have the sufficient amount of funds to actually buy them at this current moment," Vivian finally admits. "Therefore, I must respectfully decline... sorry." And as if to express her regret, she would hastily manage an apologetic half bow.
❝ I'll be right back, ❞ he replied gratefully, dismissing the comment about his skinny arms (when did hearing comments like this ever get any easier?) Sheepishly, he placed the manga volumes into Vivian's hands to make his exit. While his temporary exit to the conversation was abrupt and likely rude, Keith was at his limit in terms of how long he had been ignoring the signals his nerves were sending him. He'd rather take a less than graceful exit than risk dropping the books and damaging them in the process. Besides, he had just explained about his nerve injury, so his excuse wasn't so farfetched (and Vivian seemed to be pretty understanding about these things). With that, Keith turned on his heel and made his way back towards the front doors where he remembered seeing the baskets to begin with.
As he made his way over, he recalled the comment about his shoes. The redhead couldn't help but look down at the dirtied straps and edges of them alongside the lint stuck to the velcro bits as he made his way towards the basket stack at the front of the store. Keith really had to wonder if they were that much due for being replaced. Sure, he had worn them out quite a lot since he had received them, but as they weren't torn externally despite the clear dirt from years of use, he hardly saw any reason to switch them out, especially since prices for them had gone up in spades. If he could hold off until a really good sale happened, that would be great—but if people could tell that his shoes were that worn out despite everything, maybe he should try to look for them next time he was dragged to the mall. Not to mention, it was super hard to find velcro shoes in store as well, and if it weren't for Rachael's surprises, he'd never own a thing via buying online.
Finding himself in front of the array of baskets now, his gaze fell upon a lucky sight: a basket with a long handle and wheels. It was larger than the other ones, but the purpose of it—to ease the strain of his nerves—far outweighed the impracticality of only having two volumes of manga to carry in such a large basket. A smile glued itself on his face as he grabbed the basket handle before anyone else could, nearly humming a tune as he made his way back to the aisle where Vivian was likely waiting for him.
The wheels turning behind him as he towed the basket along probably caught her attention and when he got it, he waved and gestured to her so he could take the books he was intending to buy back from her, ❝ Thanks for holding onto them. ❞ He carefully took the manga as she held them out to him and crouched down to put them in the basket. Seeing the mostly empty basket made him pause, a nagging feeling of the judgmental stares possibly being thrown his way if he was only going to put two books in there...
Tumblr media
Looking back at Vivian, he extended an offer, ❝ um, if you want to... you can put your books here too while we're still wandering the store. It'd probably be easier since we're still talking? ❞ Were they still going to converse? He didn't know, but it didn't hurt to ask.

When Rena proceeded to unexpectedly prattle on about this roommate of hers, it doesn't take long for Vivian to abruptly pause. Honestly, she had been willing enough to just leave it at that, but much to her surprise, it seemed she managed to activate a more chattier side to her friend, because the next thing she knew, she was suddenly fed more information than she even bargained for. ...What's more, her roommate was apparently a man, which happened to be a revelation that had Vivian quirking a single brow upwards.
Tumblr media
Of course, her living arrangements wasn't that unusual, per say, because a man and a woman sharing the same roof together didn't always lead to romantic or sexual tension, but still, the fact they remained this way for six years did strike her as odd. Was there truly any platonic explanation for this or was Rena possibly omitting the fact they might have had sex a couple times? Either way, she'll eventually let out a contemplative hum.
"...Sounds rough. Personally, I can't stand when people steal my stuff... and though I don't get meltdowns anymore from having my personal belongings touched without my permission, I still get super pissed whenever my family members decide to take things while I'm not in the general vicinity, so as far as I'm concerned, you have the patience of a saint for tolerating this guy," Vivian finally comments. Honestly, her disliking thievery more so had to do with the fact she wasn't neurotypical, but she refrains from pointing this out, because Rena had probably clued in on the fact she wasn't a normal girl by now if her earlier disassociating episode was anything to go by; regardless, it doesn't take long for her to nod. "But alright, I trust you won't evict me!"
...And with that, Vivian proceeds to follow Rena the rest of the way back to her apartment. Of course, due to how she had been raised, she would subsequently take off her loafers before stepping further inside. The whole entire time, though, she would blink incredulously at how luxuriously big her apartment seemed, that it wasn't until Rena mentioned snacks, did she bring herself to voice aloud words. "Oh, uh... just water would be fine. I don't wanna impose, really!" Vivian stresses, only to stare off into the direction of the living room. "More importantly, Reniita... how much does this whole entire place cost? And are you sure I can relax wherever I like? I mean... what if I accidentally break your furniture just by sitting down on it too hard?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
❝ Hm? No, I practically want to blast him to the next solar system. ❞ Rena immediately debunked. ❝ He's always stealing my snacks, talk trash about the ones he doesn't like, make fun of my cooking, and he's just so full of himself. Sometimes, I wonder how I stayed sane after six years of living together?! ❞
Well, her cooking wasn't the greatest, but that was besides the point! At least she tried her best! But she was used to living with her alien co-ed. But she couldn't tell her friend that she was living with a robotic-like alien. He took on a more "human-like" appearence just to blend in with people here. But if anyone asked Rena where he was from, she and her roommate already a cover for him.
❝ Ugh, I wish I can ship him back where he came from. ❞
Planet Bomber that would be. But she knew beneath under her many complaints, she cared about Kuroshi. Much more than she could ever say. If something were to happen to him or he'd get hurt, she'd feel upset about it. Six years, they've been partners. Taking on missions in outerspace and  the feelings they developed over time. Even though they argued constantly, they couldn't stay away from each other.
Tumblr media
❝ I mean's not always so bad... I guess he's helpful and smart. But his attitude really drives me crazy. ❞ Rena rambled, but her pale cheeks hinted a shade of rose. ❝ Anyways, you're fine. You're probably the least likely person I'd kick out. ❞ Only things she prayed for his twin brother to show up. But Shiro was more tolerable... When he didn't break everything his hand gets on...
It wasn't long before they arrived at her condo. She put the code in and fingerprint scanned at the entrance before allowing Vivi inside first before following behind her. The place was fairly average—but one can tell it was really expensive to live there.
Tumblr media
❝ And welcome to my home. Feel free to get comfortable. Is there anything you want to drink? Or something you like for a snack? ❞
❛ I hope he didn't find my stash this time. Let's pray to the galaxy that there are some snacks I can give her.  ❜

Though his words did admittedly have a grain of truth to them, she'll still continue to stare back at him in surprise, for she hadn't expected him to have such a skill... which warranted the question - since when did he even learn how to cook? Honestly enough, Mizumachi doesn't strike her as an instant noodle type of guy, so she could only wonder what recipes were under his culinary repertoire. ...Regardless, it doesn't take long for her to snap out of her stupor to form a coherent response.
Tumblr media
"I-I know, but no matter how much I look at you... you don't quite give off Chef Gordon Ramsay vibes; in fact, I think most people would get the impression your survive mostly off of protein bars and meat," Vivian finally stammers out before setting down the hot chocolate packets and making her way over towards the dish washing rack, where white ceramic cups marked 'Free Use' in black permanent marker were left out to dry. Upon seizing one, she then hurries back to the counter top and begins opening the packets; however, she does so rather clumsily, to the point where bits of cacao powder soon marred her fingertips.
Vivian, though, merely dusts the mess off onto her pants and would subsequently make for the fridge while uttering out a contemplative "Hm..." in response to his next words. "Smoothies, you say... now that you mention it, don't health junkies make theirs with spinach or something?" she goes on to idly speculate, and within seconds, she'll pull out a half empty milk jug from the fridge. "Either way, I don't often eat breakfast myself, so I'll have to admit your little trends don't exactly ring a bell. Maybe you could show it to me sometime, Mr. I Can Cook Enough to Live?"
[水]
“I think I’ll like it, no worries! I wonder what God-tier hot chocolate would be like? Maybe it stays hot longer? Super sweet?”
The wording caught his attention because of people who had God-like reflexes, so it had him wondering what could be considered a ‘God-tier’ hot chocolate. Maybe It’s hot chocolate made by someone who is considered the God of chocolate like that dude who makes all sorts of stuff out of tempered chocolate.
As far as this muscle-head was concerned, as long as he wasn’t handed a burnt crisp of sadness, he’d enjoy the hot chocolate either way. Who could fail hot chocolate that bad, you ask? Well- you’ll find someone if you know enough people.
Tumblr media
“Eh? Ahh- I can cook a little bit? It’s not good to eat out all the time, yanno?”
It wasn’t like he was a professional or anything. He didn’t make anything super fancy, just some simple things, or he’d buy those things where you just shove them into the oven and call it ‘cooking’. If you go looking, you’ll find some easy recipes to try.
“Smoothies are my favorite. I can do that breakfast trend thing too. It actually works! I’ve tried the Nori thing and the tortilla.”
He refers to the trend from a while back where you take a sheet of Nori or a tortilla and place things in four quadrants and fold everything in on each itself to make a ‘sandwich’ of some sort. Simple, right?
"I can cook enough to live."

Though she had been expecting a normie response from him all along, Vivian would still manage a comically incredulous gasp when next Ryuji admitted he never picked up a single manga after coming to Japan.
Tumblr media
"Whaaaat?! That's like going to Taiwan, only to never try out bubble waffles!" Vivian exclaims, allowing disbelief to lace her tome. Granted, she had never been to Taiwan herself, but regardless, it seemed absurd to her Ryuji didn't bother reading any manga... especially while he was in Japan. "S-Surely, though, you must have at least read some online?" she then frantically questions while sauntering down the Science Fiction aisle.
"I know these days, kids prefer their E-books over the real, actual thing, yet still... not picking up a single manga? That is such a travesty! Why, I'd even dare say you're missing out on the finer things in life," Vivian goes on to shake her head before slotting a couple more books back through where they belonged. Of course, one might say she was being a bit too over dramatic, yet from her understanding, even five star chefs read manga, so Ryuji might as well have told her he couldn't stand salmon sushi... and sooner rather than later, she'll heave out a resigned sigh.
"Welp, since we're already here... do you want me to escort you to the manga section once I put away the rest of the books?" Vivian finally suggests. "I mean, you might as well check out some books before leaving, right?"
Tumblr media
The conversation alone was getting more frustrating than it was getting better. What was it with women that loved to pull a reverse and twist his words to make him look like an asshole? This was a moment that a part of him desired to call it quits and leave the impression as is. But he told himself he'd try to do better mending relationships with other people. Being used to being alone was enough comfort for himself—but he can't play the role of the lone wolf forever—and he was trying to take his roommate's lead on attempting making more friends.
Tumblr media
❝ Once again, you're jumping to conclusions. All I'm saying is it's just wrong to stereotype people. You're the one making out more assumptions by making remarks like that. ❞ Ryuji refutes, but he drops the topic of stereotypes.
It seems we're never gonna meet eye to eye if we continue going at it like this.
❝ Ketchup with sushi? I don't know any sane Japanese person who would consider doing so. ❞ A brow would raise.
Not that it's not unheard of, but not even someone as experimenting as Jonouchi would dare do something that gross.
Tumblr media
❝ Romance is awkward for me. Some people might get a kick out of reading it. I can't understand it considering it's never something I would heavily invest in. At least not in the typical conventional means. ❞
He doesn't think using collars, dog suits, and games to trap someone he likes counts as a normal romance... But she doesn't need to know his strange methods. Not something she can judge him for anyway.
❝ Hm... Astra Lost in space... ❞ He muses it was over.
The titles didn't seem so bad. He never was the guy would dabbled into comics much. Back in China, he did used to read manhua as kid. But once he moved to Japan, he vaguely heard of manga. Only know a few mentions here and there from Jonouchi, but neither of them were heavily deep into reading them. Jonouchi was more of the watch than the anime type or live action of something. But that doesn't mean Jonouchi would put past reading something of interest such as headlines in the newspaper.
❝ I'll be honest with you, I haven't picked up a single manga after since I came to Japan. ❞

Of course, the whole entire time, sweat would coat her palms in thin rivulets, for lying had never been her particular forte. Why, Vivian could've sworn her nervous stammering ended up being a dead give away she wasn't exactly telling the truth, but through some miracle, nobody seemed to suspect anything even when she instinctively recoils after the officer seemingly directed a glare her way. Rather than cower from fear, however, she was more so anxious about being found out.
Tumblr media
"Y-Yes... that is indeed the one." Still, despite knowing she truly had no reason to hinder their investigation, Vivian would manage a hesitant nod all while inwardly cursing herself for being so bewitched by Cutthroat, she couldn't bring herself to rat them out, let alone confess their whereabouts. Honestly, considering how utterly captivated she was by their smile, she was no different compared to the same Ted Bundy fangirls she used to criticize.
"And you needn't worry too much over little ol' me, sir... I-I mean, what rational person wouldn't be making their way back to their humble abode after encountering such a heinous murderer?" Vivian goes on to sheepishly laugh before accepting the card on practically auto pilot and absentmindedly pushing it back through her jacket pocket, where she would doubtlessly forget about it until days later.
"But I'll be sure to contact you should we cross paths again. Just, uh... stay safe out there!" she'll trail off, only to worriedly glance off towards the direction she had seen Cutthroat scamper off to. Had she made the wrong decision, she wondered? Either way, it doesn't take long for Vivian to eventually heave out a sigh once the man and his assistant finally fled the scene. To make matters worse, though, Cutthroat would soon exacerbate the situation further by showing up and making her question her life decisions.
"Unbelievable... you do realize that your head would be on the chopping block, had I not refrained from spilling the beans, right?" Vivian finally proceeds to shake her head in a mixture of disbelief and exasperation over them behaving so carefreely. ...Nevertheless, she'll proceed to cough into a raised fist upon figuring she should probably grace them with an explanation. "Anyways, I have decided it isn't my place to punish you for your sins, because it's the lord, our saviour, who would ultimately be the one to cast judgment onto you," Vivian brings herself to declare... yet at the same time, part of the reason she decided to lie on their behalf was due to her silly attraction towards them, meaning for better or for worse, Cutthroat's white hair and androgynous charm was what saved them from being apprehended.
"That, however, does not mean I approve of your killing sprees; in fact, I personally believe murder can only be permitted if it involves those who are truly evil beyond a reasonable doubt... therefore, I won't be turning a blind eye, should innocent civilians be subjected to your blood lust. Do I make myself clear?"
Tumblr media
Cutthroat silently spied on the three in a spot not far. The shadows that the night brings bequeathed the escaped death row inmate a darker shade of gray. Their white color muted; allowing them to hide and blend in with the dark. There is something of the child, the immature spirit, that wishes for a cloak of invisibility. Yet, also, the dangerous thrill of playing hide and seek with those executioners alongside the risk of being found is much more exciting. 𝐔𝐧𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲❜𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭. Still, they had already engaged in battle so it's best for now to lay low, despite the sadistic urge to throw a knife or two into their skulls right now. They're more so curious to see where this goes; observing the ordinary citizen's decision to rat him out or not.
❝ You what ? ❞ The masked veteran darted an icy glare at the witness; his deep voice sharp and assertive. It may have come off like she was at fault, but his anger is a sign of stress. 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲. Reminiscent to an angry father in disbelief with his daughter who is worried about her choices in life. His rookie partner picks up the bloodied handkerchief that was on the floor with her gloved hand and looks Vivian's way. ❝ You mean this one ? ❞ The glaring executioner doesn't move, but unglues his intense gaze away from the woman for just a moment to glance at the evidence. The handkerchief served as proof she wasn't lying ( at least that part. ) The blood was even fresh, which means their perp shouldn't be far. She seemed to be really nervous. It must've been scary facing such a dangerous criminal, or even talking with a division higher than the police. He returns his gaze to her and steps closer. ❝ . . . Listen very carefully. Stay far away from Cutthroat. It's best you go home right now as soon as possible. ❞ A gloved hand digs into his pocket and offers her a small card. ❝ If you see them again, contact this number. ❞ His hard stare lingers a moment more, confirming that she understands, before running down the streetlamp-lit sidewalk. His apprentice showing gratitude for her help, before doing the same.
Tumblr media
When the coast was finally clear, the tall wanted murderer emerges from the shadows and scurries towards her way with a bounce in their step. ❝ 𝑾𝒐𝒘 ! 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 ! 𝑯𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒉𝒂 ~ ! ❞ Cutthroat clapped and laughed like they just watched an exciting staged performance. 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞. They felt like they just got out of getting detention from a hard-boiled teacher.

No sooner did she finish reading his next corresponding messages, Vivian would childishly puff out her cheeks. A maid outfit? Who the hell did Wylan think he was, making such unreasonable requests? Still, because she had nothing better to do, Vivian would bring herself to rapidly tap away at her screen even while knowing he was probably teasing her.
[ Wiles ]: A couple days of you being an absolute thorn in my side? ಠ_ಠ I feel like that time would be better spent, binge-watching the first season of A Certain Scientific Railgun.
[ Wiles ]: And absolutely not! (ꐦ°᷄д°᷅) The fact you even had to bring it up is grounds for me to buy you a bible.
[ Wiles ]: ...Why do I get the impression your held yourself back from typing out a certain number? Welp, either way, I suppose I can wait. 눈_눈 Don't you dare get lost...
And with that, she'll proceed to spend the next hour, browsing through social media websites. When Wylan failed to show up within the exact time frame she expected, however, Vivian would impatiently tap her foot against the ground. Where in the world was he? Honestly, if it was one thing she absolutely despised, it was people failing to keep their word and adhering to the schedule they had set for themselves.
To that end, a scowl was quick to form along her lips once Wylan finally showed up, and peeved, she would fold both arms across her chest. "Don't you 'Long time no see' me! You were three minutes and forty seconds late, to the point where I had to wait more than 59 minutes," Vivian huffs. Sure enough, she then snatches away the coffee beans he had offered her.
"Thanks, though... I shall pardon your transgressions; after all, it's said that by forgiving men their trespasses, our heavenly father will also forgive the future sins I may commit," Vivian goes on to sigh. "Now then... do you have enough change on you for a ticket? Or do you already have a Compass Card?"
A day can't end without that sense of ... accomplishment if Wylan hasn't managed to burrow himself into the nerves of a random stranger. This case however felt different. he can't help but feel like maybe this case was deserved. A sense of satisfaction continues to flood his senses as he makes his way down the street. Maybe he'll actually buy something indulgent to continue the high. What a smile. And what a lady!
->[vvvvvvv]: my crimes against humanity would take a loooong time to unpack, make sure you set aside a couple days ;) ->[vvvvvvv]: and yeah id like that! wear a maid outfit and were even ->[vvvvvvv]: see you in 59
The temptation to typo that number on top of everything else was astounding.
But he knew he was already being mean enough teasing with the feminine clothing mention, something he knew she wasn't a fan of. All this to invite some deserved chastising.
Alas, those errands wouldn't run themselves. Especially if he was going to be spending time later with Vivian he needed to be productive. And completing the modest list within the hour as planned? Ah. A new challenge suddenly presents himself. And like a projectile he finds himself pointed in a new direction with all the same enthusiasm as before. Wouldn't want to keep the other girl waiting after all. Mutual worry is little more than a fuss.
.........................
And yet, a happenstance run-in and credit card issues of all damn things have the American showing up a fashionable... 3 minutes later than he would have liked to the station. Not out of breath, at least, when he comes face to face with the other waiting for him.
Tumblr media
"Whoa! Long time no see. Wasn't expecting to see you here." Wylan chortles like a bad actor on a melodramatic stage, steps swaggered and the bag of ... home improvement items(?) swaying in crooked arm. "Don't tell me we're even going to the same place? Whoa." The act is dismissed with another hop as he comes to a stop near Vivian.
"Heheheh. You haven't been waiting too long for me, have ya? Oh! Almost forgot. Here's your ... beans."

Rather than respond right away, Vivian would let out a pensive hum as her gaze drifts absentmindedly past his shoulder, yet at the same time, she wasn't looking at anywhere in particular. Honestly enough, her brain was just naturally wired to hate prolonged eye contact, to the point where it was normal for her stare to naturally wander to places other than his face after a while, meaning she was paying attention - she simply didn't do so the way everyone would expect well adjusted, neurotypical individuals to.
Tumblr media
"Balance, huh?" came her eventual murmur. "Wouldn't that be similar to saying, 'everything in moderation'? However, since I doubt a food truck is giving away meals for free, I'd actually argue there isn't nothing to keep the cycle going. I mean, sure, the food will doubtlessly be gone at some point, yet whoever runs the food truck must have made money that would allow them to purchase more ingredients later... which I imagine would inevitably make them continue their food truck operations," Vivian adds.
Granted, she's aware her outlook might be an optimistic one, because it ignored the possibility a food truck might not have made enough money to sustain itself; still, assuming said food truck did sell the meals it distributed, she wouldn't say it was ultimately left with nothing. Regardless, upon recalling the last thing Jack told her, her brows would subsequently furrow.
"And I'm unsure I agree with the notion everyone must contribute to society to keep it functioning... because it ignores disabled folks who might not be able to work a normal 9 to 5 job. In fact, I don't think they lack value on the mere basis they can't be as productive as say... an able-bodied person who can conform to the demanding, capitalist lifestyle," Vivian points out. "Therefore, I think we should give those people at least some slack and rather than purge them outright, hone their talents for perhaps the arts or more creative ventures."
                                             ꧁↠☽《†》☽↠ ꧂
Tumblr media
A cold stare the moment the nickname 'Jackie' spilled past forth from her lips. Eyes locking onto her, an almost glare from how his brows knitted together and narrow his eyes became.
That was the last thing he expected from her.
“Don't.”
To call him a nickname such as that…
A nickname that irked him to the core. Despite how simplistic it is in nature… The root of the reasons as to why is something he couldn't bring himself to share.
However, as he listens to her, the gaze lessens on its harsh edge and becomes more thoughtful. Vivian didn't appear to give that nickname in ill-will towards him, but probably more to be lighthearted.
Still.
Tumblr media
“It's about finding balance.” Jack finally states after his initial one word reaction to the distasteful name, “If all we do is take, the less something will have to offer. This comes in many forms of our daily lives as well, because that is how we can sustain ourselves. Take it like a food truck. People take, take, take, and once the truck is empty, it just becomes a truck. Nothing was given to keep the cycle going.”
“A society is an ant colony… We all have a role to play to keep it functioning.”

With a glimmer in her eye filled with excitement, Reanne was eager to share about her experience playing the new recommendations Vivian had suggested to her. It was not a stretch to say she had binge read both the titles that encompassed the Collar x Malice world over the winter holidays, and she was visibly eager to share just how much she enjoyed it. Almost buzzing in her place, she plopped the games to her friend's hands and began her spiel, ❝ I finally played them. It was actually more enjoyable than I thought. Sure, I didn't like half the guys or their romances, but I was still so engaged with the whole plot line. All the tension kept me on the edge of my seat! Still, I wish I could romance that Chisato guy from the sequel. I dunno what it is but I wanted to flirt with him so bad, and yet the answer choices were so CRUEL by not allowing me to! Honestly, I liked the bonus routes we got more than the main guys. Hideyoshi was so precious and he really should've been a main route— ❞
Tumblr media
          UNPROMPTED ASKS. » always accepting!
Tumblr media
As soon as Reanne plopped the games into her hands, Vivian would stare back at her rather expectantly, for judging from the excited gleam in her eyes, she can only assume she must have played it through to the end... and it turns out Vivian was right, because the next thing she knew, Reanne subsequently began excitedly yammering about the game.
Of course, she hadn't expected her to like all the love interests, but knowing the plot lines and characters at least drew her in was enough to make her face eventually brighten with an exuberant smile.
Tumblr media
"Oh, thank goodness you enjoyed it! Why, on the off chance you didn't, I was ready to propel myself to the moon and curse myself for presumptuously recommending a game you didn't like," she finally exclaims after Reanne finishes her lengthy review. "But it seems I do not have to resign myself to that unfortunate fate after all! Either way, I shall gladly take note of your infatuation with Chisato."
Sure enough, Vivian would then nod repeatedly, allowing a mischievous grin to spread it's way across her lips. Naturally, she doesn't bother telling Reanne what she had in store for her, because if she did, that would only manage to ruin her birthday surprise... which was something she didn't want. "And yeah, those bonus routes were definitely a nice touch!" Vivian goes on to acknowledge. "Aside from Chisato or Hideyoshi, though, do you happen to have other characters you're partial to?"

❝ So you work at the school library, ❞ Xander found himself commenting aloud as he spotted Vivian just down the aisle of reference books related to anatomical sciences. Upon setting the book he had been sifting through back onto the shelf, he approached her to make a conversation a little more proper (and to keep the quiet rule in mind). Tucking a hand into his sweater pocket, he momentarily glanced at the books in search of a specific textbook his professor was requiring—too bad he couldn't see the edition number he was looking for. He turned his attention back to her and kept his voice low, ❝ are you aware of whether or not required textbooks would be here or if we have to buy them from somewhere else? ❞ He really didn't have the funds to be buying textbooks this term.     "Ah... yeah, I guess that much is obvious when I'm pushing around an entire cart," came Vivian's absentminded remark as she brings the wheels to halt halfway down the isle before turning to spare a glance behind her. The moment she does, however, her eyes would immediately widen, because the voice who spoke to her seemingly belonged to that same attractive redhead who had broken her fall just a couple weeks ago. Sure, they might have been around the same age, but the fact they attended the same school was truly a plot twist she didn't see coming.
Still, upon figuring he would look at her strangely if she continued to gawk at him, Vivian goes on to straighten her posture a few inches away from her cart before coughing into a fist. "Welp, if you're talking about textbooks from 1990-1999, we do have them here... but in the event you're seeking ones that were published from 2000 onwards, I'm afraid you would have to defer to our campus bookstore for those," she admits while adopting a more professional sounding tone.
"It depends on what classes you are taking, though. Still, just to be sure, I could always check the database to see whether or not we have a specific book. Mind telling me what it is so I could potentially help you out?" Honestly, the whole entire time she spoke, Vivian couldn't quite suppress the curiosity that seeped through her tone bit by bit; after all, she could hardly imagine what courses Mr. Hottie was taking, to the point where she could only wonder what his syllabus looked like.

Not gonna lie... I was not expecting there to not only be two asks and an IM from a mutual here, but a reply as well, especially since I hadn't been active ever since December 30th of last year? In fact, with how low my motivation to be on tumblr has been to begin with (and how awfully disappointing my experience has been in the RPC during the latter half of 2023), I was perfectly content, just letting my blogs fade into obscurity. Why, at this point, it's not exactly a closely guarded secret I harbour quite a massive dissatisfaction with tumblr's current roleplaying scene as a whole, so me not having replies/asks honestly incentivized me to focus more on playing Granblue Fantasy, to the point where if I go days/weeks without writing a single thing, it's because I was either working or grinding stuff.
Still, I do plan on replying eventually! It's just that at the moment, I sadly have my hands full with grinding the Unite and Fight event (aka Guild Wars), which is a event that has coincidentally happened around the same time I would previously get things I owe. Either way, I really want a sand...
Tumblr media
Therefore, I will likely get to queuing/answering the reply/IM/asks on Wednesday before subsequently dipping once more! For now, though, please bear with me as I thrust myself back into Granblue Fantasy hell.

Well, at the very least, he doesn't sound all that picky, which truly came as a relief because there did exist entitled men who would be angry if a woman happened to be lazy and couldn't be bothered to cook them a proper meal. Mizumachi, though, didn't seem like that sort of man, so she'll soon bring herself to nod while descending the steps.
"Kay, as long as you don't mind it not being god-tier, I'll make you some hot chocolate then," Vivian tells him before subsequently making her way through the communal kitchen with a yawn. Because it was a space shared by many students, pretty much everyone labelled their own stuff in the cupboards if they didn't want it being randomly used, so when she opens the one situated at the far left, she'll only seize the hot chocolate packets that were labelled 'Vivian K'.
By the time Mizumachi mentioned making them both something to eat next time, however, she'll subsequently turn and shoot him a look of surprise.

"Wait, Kenny, you actually cook?" The moment she spoke, disbelief laces her tone, for he never struck her as the type to know his way around a frying pan. "Or are you only saying that to be nice?"

He shrugs, his shoulders. He noticed that it felt like people had the mentality of ‘I’m only looking out for myself’ anymore, so consideration for others was a quickly dying breed in present times. It wasn’t something that he could personally understand, but it was something he noticed, especially on online spaces. Zero tolerance and no regard for anyone but themselves.
“I guess you’re right, thanks!”
Just because he saw a rise in hostility towards those who think different from you in online spaces, it didn’t mean that everyone was the same. Didn’t mean that everyone would act the same in person either. He follows her, easily catching up to her with his longer strides. He slows his pace down so he doesn’t end up overtaking her. That was an issue the vertically blessed individuals faced, their strides equaled two or more strides of their vertically challenged companions.
“That’s good, waffles are fun. I haven’t had many of those.”
Waffles and pancakes weren’t that commonly seen in his breakfast routines when growing up, so having a change of pace was fun!

“Hot chocolate? Sounds good, thanks!”
Chocolate in small amounts is actually beneficial to athletes, and having some sugar and fats in the morning wasn’t a bad thing for energy reserves. Sure, always making sure to eat healthy was the optimal play for an athlete (like Shin does), but life is too short! You gotta enjoy life a lil!
“Maybe next time, I can make something for us to eat in the morning.”
Fair is fair, after all!
