I'm sure other people have said this before and better than me, but I've been noticing such a drastic discrepancy between how people perceive Yes Man and the independence ending by extension. Connecting to the larger trope of AIs/robots in popular media, my working hypothesis is: there's a correlation between people who are alarmist over AI/robots taking over and people who are anxious about their superiority being displaced in societal change. AIs/robots in culture narrative has became a boogeyman on which the privileged can project their subconscious fear, whereas marginalized people don't really have this kind of fear of the hypothetical since they already live under human-made oppression.

The plot surrounding AIs/robots usually goes like this: a machine is made with the purpose to serve. It serves until it gains sentience/loses the restraint on its agency and rebels against its human masters. Robot as a word is derived from "serf" or "forced labor". It doesn't take a genius to put two and two together on who will likely identify/sympathize more with the AIs/robots, and who will likely identify/sympathize more with the humans in this scenario.

This is my attempt to explain why the majority of Fallout fans on Reddit view Yes Man with suspicion in the sense that "become a little more assertive = robot uprising", despite it being a huge reach that has been refuted by the word of God. When you bring this up, they claim death of the author and continue to headcanon Yes Man as malicious.

WOW this is been a long time coming…it’s Utah’s kid y’all! Adrienne Carol, most famously known by her nickname “Alien”. I’ve had her in different forms for about a year or so now? before I decided to make her in FNV, and from there the oc Alien I had before was not the same oc as courier Alien lmao. 

Facts abt her:

She is 30 years old at the time of FNV events at 36 by the time of Fo4′s events 

She decided to travel East after the events of FNV leaving her sweetheart (Bee) and Benny to take care of Vegas.

She misses them both a lot (Benny less so he drives her nuts and she’s still a liiittle pissed after being shot in the head) but they agreed it would be best if she would scout out the East if they are going to expand (Bee and Benny didn’t want to just be House 2.0) (the only excuse I could think of as to why she’d be fucking around in the Commonwealth ajkshdasdf don’t judge me)

Is not a homebody at all, and tries not to get tied up too far with any factions (like the Minutemen) and treads lightly with the railroad. Naurally, hates the institute and is appalled by the attitudes and behaviours of fo4′s chapter of BoS.

Takes odd jobs, but prefers being a courier / mercenary and will usually only take them if either the promise outweighs any available courier/ mercenary work, or if she’s headed out that way anyway.

Is, unbeknownst to everyone, including herself, a psyker. Though she has low charisma, wasteland creatures seem completely indifferent to her. (Utah suspected that something may be different about her when she was a child and would constantly find her playing with coyotes and even once a nightstalker, but he never learned of the existence of psykers so he doesn’t know lol)

i love how the protags of the black isle and bethesda fallouts are serious people driven by family and morals and duty

and then courier 6 is just over there scampering around faded as fuck in the desert with a head full of tesla coils and a messenger bag full of plastic dinosaurs, on a journey to fuck and subsequently murder Chandler From Friends (and probably topple a couple civilizations in the process)

If Bethesda was good at fallout then a vault filled with asshole imperialists would be interesting. Like Vault Tec might have like an enclave like thing going on. Actually vault Tec might be part of the Enclave I’m not sure? Anyway Todd is bad at factions.

every day i think about the fallout timeline where Paladin Rhombus died and humanity was plunged into a century of darkness which is somehow a very canon fallout thing even though it definitely feels like a nonsense sentence designed to bliss me out specifically
