f1 fans who get into tennis via tumblr seem to be totally incapable of engaging with tennis in a way that isn't just the same way they engage with f1 and it's so fucking boring sorry. like sorry you've come from watching a sport with only men in it where you seem to think you need to sprinkle in the occasional fawning over a "wag" as some sort of attempt at feminist praxis, but tennis is a sport that actually has female athletes in it. you can't just... spend 95% of your time talking about male tennis players as athletes and then the 5% of the time you talk about female players it's exactly the same way you'd fawn over f1 wags. it's like you don't have the language to talk about female athletes as athletes. you should actually be able to enjoy them as the athletes they are, just as you do for men, and not just, like, when you see a photo of them off court performing femininity at the wimbledon ball or for a sponsor photoshoot so you can reblog a photo of them in heavy makeup and talk performatively about how you want them to "step on" you. I don't think you do actually. just be normal.
