SO funny that they chose four queens who have never played dnd in their lives for this because lemme tell you miss sasha velour has most definitely seen the inside of some guy’s basement with her own little dice satchel in hand

This is why I’ve spoken about the importance of RuPaul’s Drag Race before and Online fans really need to log off and gain perspective. None of the aggravating production stunts on the show over the years, or even the flaws of RuPaul himself, compare to the Republican Party telling their followers that drag queens and trans people are dangerous predators out to get children. It is necessary to have a show on mainstream television right now that normalizes and celebrates drag and the LGBT community as a whole, and I’ll go even further and say that the contestants sharing their sad upbringings on TV serves a larger purpose than the producers simply trying to make good TV; it humanizes people to have them sit down and cry about how horrible it was to be rejected by their families and kicked out of their homes. It shouldn’t take sharing that kind of experience for average straight person #3456 to stop and say “hey wait, that’s really sad, that homophobia they experienced was wrong and this drag queen is actually a person” but that’s the world we live in. Drag Race puts tearful stories of bigotry-fueled rejection and trauma on mainstream American television to share the reality of the homophobia and transphobia that conservative ideology encourages, but it also showcases the fun and art and culture of drag. It shows all of these people dedicating themselves to their work and overcoming hardship to succeed and laughing together and fighting and creating bonds and supporting each other and creating found families when their biological ones shun them.
You know, it shows people being people. The main Drag Race series just had its 200th episode, and in an age where Republicans are outlawing drag shows and shooting them up, here’s to 200 more.

omg what was meeting sasha like?
INCREDIBLE, she was so genuinely kind. i was nervous and i hadn't really planned out what i was going to say, so what ended up coming out was-- "you're so beautiful."
she responded, "you're so beautiful! i love this outfit." (think: rejected fifth member of abba who shaved her head and got slutty). and then she dragged my admittedly boring phone case by saying, "except the phone case."
i said, "it's a wallet!" and showed her how to pop it open, and then she said "oh my god, i need that! i'm always fumbling around for my wallet like--" and then here she made some clawing motions with her hands and growled "-- you know?"
and as she was making the growling face and clawing, i said, "you're so beautiful." again. which i really did not mean to do but it just, like, happened
she spent like five full minutes with everyone in line and had actual conversations with us, not just taking the photo and moving on. she gave off the impression of being really genuine and invested in people, just really kind. not overly charming or saccharine. she was obviously on and working, but she wasn't detached in any way
and she really was so beautiful. i'm pretty short, so she basically towered over me, and i could see her pores under her foundation and the creases in her laugh lines, and she was such a presence. i mean, really, actually, she has this incredible stage presence in person that can't be recreated in videos
but mostly she was just kind. i really got the sense that she's a kind, earnest person who invests herself in the people around her
