5 WAYS TO RESPOND WHEN YOU'RE FEELING REACTIVE
When you find yourself feeling reactive, it can be tough to calm down and think clearly. But, if you want to avoid saying or doing something you'll later regret, it's important to take a step back and respond in a more mindful way. Here are five tips for how to do just that.

Identify what you're feeling in the moment
We've all been there before: someone says or does something that gets under our skin, and suddenly we're feeling reactive. Maybe our first instinct is to lash out in anger, or maybe we tend to withdraw and get defensive. But either way, it's not a productive way to respond. So what can you do instead? Here are five ways to respond when you're feeling reactive: 1. Stop and take a few deep breaths. This will help you calm down and clear your head so that you can think more clearly about how you want to respond.
Try to understand where the other person is coming from
1. When you're feeling reactive, try to take a step back and understand where the other person is coming from. This can be difficult, but it's important to remember that everyone has their own perspective and motivations. If you can see things from their perspective, it will be easier to respond in a way that is productive and respectful. 2. Try not to take things personally.
Breathe and relax your body
If you're feeling reactive, it's important to take a step back and breathe. Relax your body and mind, and focus on the present moment. Here are five ways to do just that: 1. Identify your triggers. What sets off your reactions? Once you know what they are, you can start to work on managing them. 2. Start with deep breathing exercises. Breathe in slowly for four counts, then hold your breath for seven counts before exhaling slowly for eight counts. Repeat this several times until you feel yourself start to relax. 3 .
Choose your words carefully
In a world where it's easy to get wrapped up in our own lives and problems, it's important to choose our words carefully when we're feeling reactive. Whether we're speaking to someone face-to-face or writing something that could be seen by many, the way we respond can have a big impact. Here are five ways to respond when you're feeling reactive: 1) Acknowledge your feelings. It's okay to feel angry, upset, or frustrated. Recognizing and accepting these feelings can help you move on from them more quickly.
