Gritting my teeth and asking for help again. I need to take my meds before it gets much later but I'm low on food and energy. Anything would help, and any extra money will go to getting groceries so I don't have to ask for help again. Thank you for your patience.

Fuck summer. You want some chills to offset this god awful heat? My horror short stories are PWYW (basically free) with trans masc leads:
Friend of the Damned: gothic epistolary horror in a Victorian inspired world of eternal night. When his beloved cousin asks Owen Rosedown to investigate a grieving medium and spiritualist, he has no idea what he's getting into. Features women's wrongs and "dogs".
Lock the Last Door: Cthulhu Mythos noir. Private detective Lazarus Core investigates a tiny old house but finds himself trapped by his rival, the villainous DILF Harlan Thompson. What horrors hide in this building? Features scary bubbles, creature horror, and ominous music.
Note that both stories involve or reference transphobia in various amounts, and also feature death, violence and body horror. Reader discretion advised.

Commissioner scams
(Commissioner scams)
(I have a video mentioning these here too!)
This kind of scam happens when you receive a DM from a user who is asking you if you’d like to commission them. If you had previously shown interest in someone’s commissions sheet or post then getting this kind of contact wouldn’t be too unusual. Unfortunately, in this case you never showed any interest in the users commissions so it should be considered odd that they decided to contact you. So what should you look out for? Please keep in mind these should be used only as a guide and some real accounts may be like this too!
Stolen art - Reverse image search the examples or check to see if they will link you to any other socials they may be using and seeing if they’re the same person as the link. If the art their posting shows it’s from someone else entirely then you’ve encountered a scammer.
Limited posts - If the account hasn’t been posting very long, and has only seemed to exist for a few days, treat them with caution and see if they’re on other social medias. Often scammers will use relatively new accounts and then post only some art examples and nothing else.
AI art - If all the art posted is clearly generated art without proper tags or anything mentioning it, you know they didn’t draw any examples their showing you and would likely feed your references into an AI generator.
Bio - Often these suspicious commissioners will have a very generic bio about being a furry artist who also does 3d modeling and has commissions open.
No commission info post - Commonly there is no post with any information about their supposed commissions because they usually don’t have anything to show for it. They won’t tell it publicly which is why contact is often done over direct messages.
So what happens in this scam? You order a commission but after sending the money you’ll never get the art and the account likely blocks you immediately after getting the funds. They then move on to someone else and continue the scam until their account is took down.
If you fell for this kind of scam or have encountered it, always block the sender if you figured out they’re a scammer and warn others about it. Discord is one of the common places this scam occurs. Stay safe!

So, as an experiment, I’ve been cross-posting to all 3 major social media sites for a good while just to see which really is the most active for a medium sized fandom/silly shitpost account. If you want to reach and talk to people, where is actually best for that? There's a lot of claims and speculation out there, but not a lot of hard data. Furthermore, most of those claims are from people who make money online, which I do not. I wanted not just real numbers, but numbers that represent what I am online: a fandom rando who's just posting for the love of the game and wants to talk blorbo with the people
The short answer: it’s tumblr. By a fucking landslide, it’s tumblr
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My method for this was to analyze 30 recent posts that I've made on all 3 sites (for tumblr, this is both this blog and my side blog, but for bsky and twitter I only have one account on each). These posts were also of multiple types, including shitposts, cat pics, fics, edits, and meta, so there is a good variety. Primary fandoms on main account are dragon age and fafner, with sideblog covering star wars and some obscure foreign comics - I recognize that other fandoms may see different results, but the fact that my data covers 4 separate ones is a decent spread imo. I also excluded any spiders georg situations, as I had a couple posts break containment here in particular (the tragic blorbos post is currently over 10k notes lmao)
(Also the fact that fafner is arguably my main fandom right now and it is extremely dead, yet I still see a notable difference in notes on tumblr compared to the other sites - that's telling on its own imo but I digress)
Likes and reblogs are straightforward as a metric, but the replies/comments stat includes anything that could be considered a comment. Replies, qrts, reblog with commentary tags (but NOT organizational tags), etc. I also excluded any notes made by me. I did not factor in follower count in any way because imo it's too difficult to say how many of one's followers are actually active, and I'd say the phenomenon of "same dozen people in my notes" is pretty consistent on all 3 sites anyway. In the end, I don't think there's a way to accurately measure what percentage of the follower count are actually contributing notes vs hasn't logged on in months or years, so follower count is useless to include
So my final verdict based on empirical data is that tumblr wins every time in every category. Of the runners up, bsky is a bit better for conversation and twitter is slightly better for silent acknowledgement. Personal preferences matter, of course, but that wasn’t the purpose here. I just wanted to know which was better from a data-driven point of view if you want to experience fandom as a community and actually have people interacting with you. And now I do lmao
So there you have it. TL;DR if you want to talk to and reach people as a silly fandom/memes account, somehow tumblr, the website famous for always being on the cusp of death, is empirically the place to be. Everyone say thank you hellsite for remaining the least shitty place on the internet to be
Also, here are the charts per interaction type if you're curious (each data point is one post):

I'm gonna be real with you, i don't think weirdo kinksters should be considered acceptable collateral damage when banks/credit card companies enforce adult content bans on sites like patreon and ko-fi
