Eddie jokingly says "that's what my mom always says" one night and Venom is just. So confused by it.

""Eddie, I thought your mother was dead"" they say.

He responds, "She is, Ven."

Venom, even more confused, "you are laughing about this, Eddie? When Cletus Kasady mentioned your mother we were... hurting. Sad.... I do not understand."

Eddie blinks a few times and sits down with a sigh. "It does hurt, Venom, yeah. It's just... sometimes I just laugh about it to cope, you know? Makes it hurt less if I can laugh." Venom still looks confused so Eddie is like, "it's okay when I make a joke or a comment, but not when someone else does. Because it's me- it's My mom. Not theirs. It's like.... how you and I are allowed to call each other loser, but other people aren't. You know?"

Venom frowns at him, but nods and presses his forehead against Eddie's. "Don't like when other people call you loser, Eddie."

Eddie smiles at Venom, then. "Thanks, Vee."
