psychologically I find it very interesting that women will project onto and/or identify with a male character's vulnerability, subjulgation etc and will feel very strongly that surely that must mean he's a woman (bc those are traits associated with women). and yet many women say they can't relate to female characters exactly bc they aren't given as much complexity as male characters... when clearly they ARE capable of projecting, expanding, exaggerating and extrapolating a character's canon portrait. what I'm saying is, if you can suspend reality enough to attribute womanhood to a male character, then why not attribute complexity to those female characters you think are lacking it?
