the thing about how liberals demand purity from revolutions (remembering the yellow Parenti video) ties into a wider discussion—about how there seems to be a pendulum between extremes, where any "progressive" group or movement is expected by its opposition (usually the more liberal factions) to operate with either zero nuance and moral perfection or absolute nuance and constant hyperbole,

just like communists must be morally flawless to earn support from liberals —their revolution must be bloodless, their policies must accommodate former and current fascists, and there’s no room for nuance in revolutionary violence ("You’ll be just like your enemy!" and all that)—transfeminists, too, must be individually pure, their goals explicitly and hyperbolically inclusive of every possible group, their willingness to collaborate always at its peak.

this applies to any historically progressive movement today, whether communists, transfeminists, or others. Anti-Zionists must always account for poor little Israeli lives in every sentence. Anti-racists must always acknowledge poor/disabled/queer/whatever white people. Anti-imperialists must constantly remind everyone that poor (and Black, and Native, and queer, etc.) Americans exist. You either account for every possible exception in every statement, or you’re not truly progressive by liberal standards.

and god forbid you commit the unforgivable crime of an emotion-driven one-liner—then your reputation is forever ruined by the Serious Liberals. alternatively, you must be hyperbolic, swearing that everything will be perfect—no blood spilled, no convictions handed down—when prejudice and inequality are finally defeated, whether in a specific struggle (misogyny, racism, etc) or the broader class war.

with allies like these—who demand you be morally immaculate, completely disarmed, endlessly inclusive in every sentence, and terminally rational in even the slightest political remark—who needs enemies?

the thing about the term femboy is that it pretty explicitly exists within a context of fetishized transfeminity, which does give it a particular "kick" that can really only exist in that context. a funny side effect of this is that all of the alternatives lack this subtext and end up sounding like an insult one would use against an ill-charactered political opponent in 1890

When I go to a queer cocktail bar and I don't see any cishet men there I don't go "No thank you, this queer cocktail bar is clearly exclusionary and I shall have none of it." In fact not a single thought crosses my head about whether or not there are cishet men there, because their presence or lack thereof there does not say anything meaningful about it as a queer space.

To be honest this four panel comic changed my life at one point in its sheer simplicity and incisive critique of the obnoxious Temporarily Embarrassed Vivziepops and I think more people need to like understand the value in this very basic analysis.

tbh the smoking gun behind the lie that is "transandrophobia is just a word for the specific experiences transmascs face" (rather than the truth which is it's a backdoor into anti-feminism) is that pretty much everybody who posts about "transandrophobia" or "transmisandry" does not post aobut transmisogyny. it's the exact same pattern you see with other "men's rights activists" -- it's supposedly meant to be about securing equality, but most MRA blogs are just whinging about protections women have, or gamergate -- most of these folks have less than zero consideration of how transmisogyny affects trans women and are totally unwilling to learn. that's not activism -- that's just sexism with a transgender coat of paint.
