How to Lucid Dream for Beginners
Imagine having one of your most terrifying dreams. You are flying on a plane, going to your dream location with your best friend. Suddenly the sky outside your window darkens. Your friend asks what you are looking at as the plane starts to bump and jolt around. You simply shrug as you sit back and start to close your eyes. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning hits the wing and the engine bursts into flames before your eyes. The passengers panic and scream, grabbing onto their loved ones as you just sit quietly in your own form of panic. You look out the window and see the plane tilting to one side as the other engine struggles to keep the plane in flight. Suddenly, you remember that you have been training to lucid dream for months. This is all a dream you say to yourself, until it sinks into your psyche. You now realize it is only a dream. You look to your friend, grab their arm, and say “let’s find our happiness.” You close your eyes and start whispering your mantra. “I am aware. I am aware of my dreams.” You’re friend looks over at you, clenching your arm, about to speak. You each blink and suddenly, your feet are warm. Sinking slowly, water washing over them. You feel the heat of the sun on the back of your neck. You realize you are now at the beach. Your dream vacation has arrived.
What is lucid dreaming
Lucid dreaming is the art of becoming aware in your dreams. Realizing you are dreaming amidst your sleep. Then, taking that realization and controlling yourself and objects within the dream.
Controlling our dreams
What if we could control our dreams? You can’t die in your dreams. Why not take advantage of this to provide yourself with immense growth. Do you have a phobia? Let’s say you are afraid of snakes. This is the perfect environment to get over your fear. During a dream, find your awareness. Slowly enter into your lucid dream. Sit down in your dream.
Tell yourself that you are going to use this area to grow. Imagine a harmless small snake crawling up to you. It sits in front of you, as you sit on a large boulder. Notice how the non-venomous snake flickers its harmless tongue at you. Smelling the air with its senses as you do the same while breathing in deeply. Imagine a second and then a third crawling up nearby. The green and brown pattern looking beautiful reflecting in the warm sunlight. Once you are ready, pick one up. It doesn’t feel slimy or gross at all like you imagined. It feels just as any other small intelligent earth inhabiting creature would feel. You can feel its heart beat. You can feel its muscles contract and restrict as it raises its head to examine you. You and this creature mean no harm to the other. Two curious creatures with the only intents of growth and happiness. Now set it down and let it free. Let the three of them crawl back into the field to find their own sunning rock. You are one step closer to overcoming your fears in the awake world.
You can complete this practice for any fear. To have better control of this practice you can write out how the experience will go. Just like anything, the more planning, the better the results. You can also travel anywhere with lucid dreaming. Want to go to a beach but have no means or money to travel? You can do that. Start by controlling your dreams. Find your lucid state. Imagine the sand, the ocean, the wind in your hair, the warm sun, the hot dry sand, then walk to the ocean. You can go anywhere you would like. This is a great practice to try. The more you practice the better you can get. You can then take this practice and combine it with a daily meditation routine. See how lucid dreaming changes your meditation practice for the better over time. You can meet anyone, real or fiction. You can meet your favorite celebrity or fictional book character. They may not be the real version, but it is still an interesting practice. You can imagine yourself with your favorite character exploring a remote island or hiking a mountain. Listen to what they have to say. Maybe, your subconscious will speak to you through their voice. Anything at all you can imagine can be done.
Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid Dreaming comes with many benefits. Many more benefits than negative side effects.
It encourages healthy sleeping habits. If you are going to lucid dream it is best to create good sleeping habits. Sleep is controlled by your bodies Melatonin. Your body produces most of it at night. Therefore it is best for you to go to sleep between 8p and 12a nightly. Try to rise with the sun in the morning and sleep after it sets or a few hours after it sets.
Lucid Dreaming lets you grow and face your fears. As mentioned earlier you can tackle your fears and phobias with this practice. You can grow to become fearless in the natural world.
It helps you understand your subconscious mind. With Lucid Dreaming you can better understand your mind. You can use this practice to bring benefits to your meditation routines. It will make your more aware and conscious in your every day activities.
Lucid Dreaming helps you to train and practice skills during your sleep. You can utilize this technique to practice other skills. Practice a form of martial arts, meditation, a dance routine, a musical instrument, speaking calmly to an estranged family member. You can practice any skill that you are trying to improve.
Lucid dreams can expand your conscious boundaries.
Side Effects of Lucid Dreaming
I have came across only one negative side effect while reading Lucid Dreaming experiences of others. The experience of not knowing when you are dreaming and when you are awake. This would surely be a terrible side effect. Though, many at some point in their life have felt a small taste of this. They have felt they are living in a dream or living in a movie. Just like any illness, mental disorder, or problem; This is an opportunity to strengthen and find growth. This side effect of not knowing when you are awake is a sign of mental illness and should be treated by medical professionals.
Dream Journals
A dream journal is essential when starting out your Lucid Dreaming journey. You may think that you never or rarely have dreams, but everyone has dreams. It is estimated that every single person dreams for at least two hours per night. Any notebook can be your dream journal. You can even use some printer paper. Obviously, the more organized you can keep your journal habits the better. The true important part writing in a dream journal will be consistency and routine/habit writing. Write down what you remember from your dreams when you wake up each morning. If you don’t remember anything then write the date and that you do not remember anything from your dreams. This will help you create the habit of writing every morning you wake up. The quicker you can journal the better. If you wait until after you shower and get ready for the day, you will find you are forgetting bits and pieces if not the whole dream. After a few nights to a few weeks you should start to remember more and more of your dreams.
How to lucid dream
There are many different ways to get to the end result of Lucid Dreaming. I will go over one way that has worked for many.
Set an alarm for 6 hours after you go to sleep. Using a device that can set multiple alarms would be ideal. Let’s say you are going to start sleeping at 10p every night. You will want to start your bedtime routine an hour before this. At 9p go through your nightly steps. Lay in bed, turn off all electronics at least 30 minutes before you think you will fall into a slumber. Make sure your first alarm is set for 4am. You can set your next alarm for whenever you want to rise for the day. You have multiple REM cycles after you sleep. You have a REM(Rapid Eye Movement) cycle once every 2 hours or so. If you set an alarm 6 hours in, you should be in one of your longest REM cycles.
After you wake up 6 hours later you should be very close to a dream thus giving you a higher chance to remember this dream. Get up, get something to drink, and write in your dream journal about your recent dream. Write the date, the time, and as many details as you can remember. You do not need to write in perfect sentences. Especially since you may be tired. You will just want to journal quick notes. So that if you are reading this later, you can recall what you were dreaming of.
Lay back down and think about what it is you want to do in your next dream.
Repeat to yourself a mantra.(a simple sentence you can repeat to yourself to get something to stick into your mind and your subconscious.) Try a simple mantra like “I will be aware in my dreams” and repeat for 3-5 minutes or until you fall asleep. An additional mantra you could try before sleep would be: I will tell myself I am dreaming, while I am dreaming.
You could also try and repeat an action. Such as tensing your hands or rotating your arms until you fall asleep. The goal with this practice would be to try and do this in your dream. Once you do this action in your dream you will have a higher chance of correlating this action with awareness of your dream state.
Additional Tip: You can try listening to a “Lucid Dreaming Music boosting track”. There are many available online for free. I would recommend listening to it while you are awake during meditation. Then again while you drift to sleep. If you do this enough, you could relate hearing this sound in your dream with when you awake during your meditations. This would bring awareness into your dream and help you realize you are now in a dream state.
For many this doesn’t work on the first night. Like anything it takes practice. If you stick to these practices you should start to show success after a few nights to a few weeks. Especially with avidly keeping a dream journal. Lucid dreaming is easier for some but anyone can achieve lucid dreaming. The importance is routine, routine, routine, and practice, practice, practice. Once anything in your life is a habit, good or bad, it will start shaping your life.
Keeping your dreams stable
Normal dreams are movies. Lucid dreaming is knowing that you are dreaming while you are dreaming.
Excitement usually wakes you up. Once you realize you are dreaming many wake up right away. To keep your lucid dreams stable, remain calm once you realize you are dreaming. Attempt to lay/sit still in your dream. Observe your surroundings and notice your senses. Touch objects, listen to any sounds, and try to use your sense of smell. If the dream becomes unclear, try to rub your hands together or touch your legs. You can also try saying words like, “Calm” “clear” and “stable”. This will help ground you calmly within the dream. Try to do everything slowly while you take in your dream world.
Anyone can start Lucid Dreaming. It all depends on how determined you are to stay consistent when practicing this skill just as with any new skill. It is believed that this skill will help bring you one step closer to understanding your mind and finding true enlightenment.

What is the drink “KOMBUCHA” and why is it becoming mainstream?
Kombucha is a beverage that remained a controversial for hundreds of years. This is because when made, it typically ends up containing different levels of alcohol in it. It’s created with a fermentation process, causing different levels of alcohol depending on the process used by the brewer. Kombucha is now becoming mainstream because of its health benefits. Companies like Reed’s and KeVita, have created a non-alcoholic version to distribute to grocery and convenience stores. They were officially licensed to release their drinks in the open market.
Today, you can find various types of Kombucha from different brands at most popular stores as it is now considered one of the healthiest commercial beverages available. At present Kombucha is marketed as a good alternative to both, energy drinks as well as sugary soda. This organic and naturally fizzy drink is available in various flavors including lavender, blackberry, hibiscus and raspberry. By the end of 2018 we believe this drink will be coming in almost any flavor imaginable as its popularity will erupt.
What is Kombucha exactly?
Today, instead of considering Kombucha as an alcoholic beverage it’s producers market it as a healthy drink that contains the health benefits of probiotics. “Anti-Aging” Through analyzing DNA, Telomeres, and Mitochondria
Aging is a century long concern that all human generations face as it is hallmarked by various undesirable characteristics outlined by diminishing energy, activity, thought process and others. Aging is simply a slow death that anyone would love to slow down or reverse if possible. Several research studies have been conducted about anti-aging and how the aging process can be slowed down or halted. Various factors have been linked with aging such as cellular death, diminishing mitochondria function and more recently telomeres. According to new research, scientists have now found a way to make more mitochondria, slow down telomeres and increase human longevity. Here is a brief look at these new revelations.
Telomeres and aging
In light of recent research studies, telomeres has sparked endless debates and foreshadowed new hope with regards to anti-aging. Telomeres are the ends (caps) of each DNA strand and are inherited from our parents as part of the DNA. The body cells are made up of DNA which can be found in every part including hair, nails and bones. As we age, cells divide and replicate causing growth and development. Unfortunately, this division results in the shortening and degradation of telomeres. As aforesaid, telomeres are the caps of each DNA just like the plastic end of a shoe lace. Continued division and replication eventually takes its toll on telomeres to a critical point that results in cellular death. This is why aging is more evident in areas such as hair and nails which replicate more often.
Studies have linked telomeres shortening to premature cell death and scientists now believe slowing the process of this degradation can result in anti-aging. Aging is highlighted by diminishing levels of enzyme telomerase which is responsible for telomerase longevity. According to studies, when telomerase becomes too short to handle its function, the corresponding cell initiates a DNA damage response which involves activating tumor suppressor p53. When this happens, p53 quickly causes a series of events that may promote the growth of DNA arrest, cellular death and aging. In simple terms, human cells will age and die without the protection of telomerase and this eventually results in aging.
Mitochondrial function and cellular death
Even as the study on telomeres was unfolding parallel research has always had it that aging was a result of diminishing mitochondria function. These studies found out that aging is hallmarked by diminishing functionality of the mitochondria and a rise in the reactive oxygen species and free radicals that result in cellular death. Mitochondria’s primary role is to provide the cells with energy currency and regulate cellular metabolism. With more energy comes more activity and healthy cells (more life).
In studies conducted on mice to research the implication of telomerase (enzyme) absence in the cells, scientists discovered that a lot more regulators and expressions were affected. One observation in particular was that the telomerase absence resulted in significant alterations especially in genes that regulate mitochondrial function, oxidative phosphorylation, metabolism and antioxidant defense.
Establishing the link between mitochondria function and telomeres is one that has eluded research for years as the two studies have always been parallel. This new link shows that both telomeres degradation and diminished mitochondria function combine to initiate cellular death. The key therefore is to find ways of lengthening the life of both mitochondria and telomeres; luckily, there is great progress in this department.
Mitochondria and telomeres longevity
Following the progress made in these research studies, scientists have come to the determination that fixing telomeres degradation and creating more mitochondria can put a halt to aging and result in longer human life spans. Once you understand how the science works, it does not take much to understand the concept. Cellular aging and death is sped up by diminishing mitochondria function and shortening of telomeres. If these two can be stopped, fixed or slowed down, then our cells will live longer and this means more years.
The first step is fixing telomerase degradation which is quite a feat to achieve considering cellular division and replication is how our bodies preserve DNA and grow. There is no way of stopping cellular division as we need to constantly have new healthy cells remain young and energized. However, with science, we can ensure the telomeres live longer by increasing the levels of enzyme telomerase.
Just like it is done with boosting other hormones like testosterone (in males), increasing telomerase enzyme will keep the telomeres healthy and active allowing them to withstand more cellular divisions before they are too weak to protect the DNA. How to apply the Pareto Principle to improve your life.
Do you know the Pareto law?
Also called the 80/20 principle. You may have heard something about it, or even apply it day by day without concisely knowing it is happening. However today we will see a good way to apply the Pareto Principle in our personal lives to maximize our productivity and improve our results.
The Pareto law says that 20% of the effort generates 80% of the results.
Pareto (which is the name of the person who applied for this law) discovered with experiments that this law applies to lots of situations in real life, and that in many cases it may not be 20% or 80% accurate (it could be 23% and 79%) that usually these values are around 20 and 80.
The most interesting of all is the number of situations in which it applies, as we will see below. Learning how to take advantage of this law can bring us great benefits and reduce our effort.
The Pareto principle
A more general form of the Pareto law could be the following: 80% of the consequences come from 20% of the causes.
Pareto realized that 80% of the patrimonies(inherited property) of his country were owned by 20% of the population. Over the years he also observed this interesting effect in different aspects such as:
20% of the people you know provide you with 80% support and satisfaction (friendship, love … Etc)
20% of customers generate 80% of the income of a business
80% of your success depends on 20% of your effort
20% of the exercises you perform will mean an 80% benefit to your body
The Pareto law then gives us a good starting point and the best advice we can apply from that law is the following:
20% of our thoughts create 80% of the manifestations we make, so if you control your way of thinking optimizing at least 20%, you already have 80% of your success assured, at least stating what you want.
If you detect exactly the aspects of life that make up your 20%, do more of that that work, without any doubt it will bring you many benefits.
Suppose that in your company 20% of your customers are ideal and that they generate 80% of your income. If you could get more clients like that and get rid of the others (after serving them well, of course), the Pareto rule would still apply the same, a new 20% of your customers would generate 80% of your income, but this 80% would be much larger because customers are already made up in quality and not in quantity.
How to know if we are working in that 20%?
The most important thing about the Pareto law and the best way to take advantage of it is to focus efforts and concentration on 20% of the activities and situations of life.
However, it is often not so easy to know if we are really focusing on said 20%, for which here are some tips to take into account.
If you are working on your 20% then:
You feel good because you are doing what you like (or what you have always wanted to do) or you just know that it contributes to the achievement of your purposes.
You are doing tasks in which you know you would procrastinate but being so essential this does not happen.
Delegates tasks that are not really that important.
In the same way, if you are not taking advantage of your 20% then the following will happen:
You will be doing what other people want you to do.
You will be doing things you are not good at.
You will be doing things that you do not like to do (like going to work, which on the other hand does not contribute to your purposes and life goals)
You will be doing things that will normally take a lot of effort and energy on your part.
With a little effort and application of the Pareto law, we can save a lot of physical and emotional energy to focus on important issues that really enrich our lives.
Something important to keep in mind is that the Pareto law also works the other way around, in reverse. Just as 20% of your customers generate 80% of your income, the remaining 80% of your customers will only account for 20% of your income.
20% of your income will be the result of 80% of your effort, so it is important that you rethink the way you optimize these issues so that your efforts decrease.
80% of people report you 20% of benefits, so be careful who you surround yourself with, and spend more time with the truly important 20%.
80% of the books you read will only serve you 20%, so take the opportunity to read better books and increase the scope of your 80% of results.
Advantages and benefits of applying the Pareto principle in life
This rule may sound very technical or complicated, right?
Actually, it is not. It means simply that between everything we do there is a small group of activities that bring us many results, while the others add very little (or nothing), despite consuming a lot of time and effort.
Many times the relationship is not even 80% results / 20% time. The central point is that the Pareto principle consists of many results / few factors. The distributions can vary from moderate cases 70/30 to extremes like 95/5.
That is why the principle initiated by Pareto is also called as “the rule of the few vital and many trivial.”
To discover which are the few critical factors has many advantages:
It allows us to do more in less time. Learning to let go of trivial activities frees time and energy.
Applying the principle makes it possible to continue growing. The time released by letting go of the non-essential can be applied to activities that bring us many results.
We can apply it in any area of life, and improve not only as entrepreneurs, but also as people. It applies not only to our customers, for example, but also to how to be in better physical condition.
Knowing how the 80/20 is distributed upon your life helps you to be more relaxed. Instead of worrying about everything, all the time, we can focus on a small group of things and solve them.
It gives us autonomy. Applying the pareto principle implies to stop reacting or doing in automatic and to begin to see the end or result that we are looking for and what makes sense for our objectives. So we do not do something “because it’s supposed to be done”, but we have personal and concrete reasons.
Optimize all resources. The applied 80/20 rule not only impacts on the use of time, but also better our use of money, human resources, technology, etc.

Meditation has been around for thousands of years. There is something to be said by ancient traditions that have stuck with the human race for such a long period of time. There has been countless “health tricks” and medications and there is not many that can be said to have lasted nearly as long. There are many different types of meditation that has been practiced over these many years. They all have the same core idea behind them and are practiced to achieve similar results.
Concentration Meditation
This type of meditation involves – candle flames, repeating a single word or chant. Counting beads on a mala. The most common method of “Concentration Meditation ” is focusing on following the breath. With concentration meditation, you refocus your thought each time you find yourself slipping into random thoughts that keep your mind busy. Refocus your attention on what you are focusing on(breath, candle, gong sound) and center your concentration once again. Beginners should try this method for 1-5 minutes in the beginning. Once the individual is advancing they should try to move to 10 minutes, 15 minutes, and more.
Mindfulness Meditation
With Mindfulness Meditation the student watches each passing thought. Noticing it without judging it. The idea with this type of meditation is to better understand the human subconscious mind. To understand how people take their thoughts and judge them. With a better understanding of your thoughts you can take social situations and choose better how to respond by understanding your mind and the mind of others. Other types include tai chi, walking meditation, and other forms of movement meditation.

How to Meditate for beginners
1) Sit comfortably. You can start by using a pillow or meditation chair. Sit preferably with cross legs, but if you can’t cross your legs sit in whatever position is most comfortable. The key in the beginning is creating the most comfortable meditation position as possible. If you aren’t comfortable, all you will be concentrating on is the discomfort your body is in.
2) Set a timer. Without a timer set in the beginning, you will have no idea how long you have been sitting with your eyes closed. Worse yet, you will be constantly thinking “has it been 5 minutes? should I stop?” You will have these thoughts until the first few minutes are up, ruining any benefits that were possible. You can use a phone timer, an alarm clock, an app, Alexa, pretty much anything. Even many advanced students will use a timer so they can focus on what’s important, and not time.
3) Close your eyes and begin to relax. Start focusing on your breath. Don’t try to control your breath or force a breathing pattern. Start a process of becoming aware. Try not to think, just focus your attention where your breath is. Simply, follow your breath as it comes in, then goes out.
4) Notice any incoming thoughts (they will come!). Notice them, acknowledge the thought, then come back to your breath. Let the thoughts go as they come. Always come back to your breath.
5) Additional – If you are more visual try lighting a candle and focusing on the flame instead of your breath. Follow the same 4 steps. Notice your thoughts, refocus your attention back to the dancing flame upon the candle.
The biggest questions in the beginning are; “how do I sit?” and “what do I think about?”
What do I think about?
The simplest answer to this question is “nothing.” Though, this is a lot harder than it sounds. It will take a lot more effort to keep your mind clear when first starting out than it will for someone who is seasoned. Remember, if you have a thought that is okay, acknowledge the thought then go back to your focus point.
How do I sit?
Some say that it is fine to sit or lay down. Either way works, but when you are laying down, your brain thinks you are getting ready for sleep. This could take away from focus and cause you to become sleepy. Instead; sit with your legs crossed. You can also sit on your feet with your knees in front of you.
Another question that may in someones mind is; What do I do with my hands?
You can rest them on your lap, or on your knees. You often see people in movies holding their hands into circles as they hum. This is not necessary, though if you prefer this that is fine too. This arm positioning just may be more distracting when you start out. The key to everything is making sure you are comfortable to reduce distractions.

Here is how you can set goals – and achieve more of them!
“Genius” has been described as the “ability to focus on one thing at a time.” Many people who are “geniuses” are so not only because they have a high intellect, but because they are a gift of being able to focus on the objective or goal at hand.
This same focus must come in to play when determining what your goals are in relation to success. You need to learn to work towards one major objective and juggle a few short- and mid-range goals at the same time.
One way to determine what your direction is (and ultimately your goals are) is to do a check-up. I suggest listing 7 categories: Financial; Career, Family, Personal, Spiritual, Mental, & Physical. Rank your goals in these categories and how you’re doing. This will illustrate to you where you are and where you’d like to be and exactly how balanced you are as you move about your process.
Set goals that are smart. Big goals must be broken down in to manageable pieces. Don’t set more than 4 goals to work on during a single day. Seek divine guidance and direction on each goal.
Then identify what the pay-off is when you achieve your goal. Nebulous rewards don’t motivate people to achieve much.
List the obstacles that stand between you and your goals. If you’re not aware of potential problems, you’ll be side-tracked when they arise and lose sight of your objective.
Have someone in your corner who can dispense counsel & guidance.
Think about who can help you achieve your goal. Identify friends who can be encouragers and who can help keep you motivated and on-track.
List the skills and knowledge required to attain your goal
Develop a plan of action to achieve your goal
Set a deadline for achievement. It’s hard to achieve something that has no ending date.
As you consider your goals, ask yourself the following five questions:
Is this really my goal?
Is this morally right and fair to everyone involved?
Will it take me closer to my long-range goal?
Can I commit myself to start and reach this objective?
Can I see myself attaining this goal?
You should answer yes to each of these questions. If not, re-evaluate!
And then give each goal a final test of the “basic wants” in life:
Will it make me happier?
Will it make me healthier?
Will it make me more prosperous?
Will it increase my security?
Will it help me make more friends?
Will it give me peace of mind?
Will it improve my family (and other) relationships?
Will it increase my hope for the future?
If you can’t answer yes to each of these questions, re-evaluate your goal.

How to Lucid Dream for Beginners
Imagine having one of your most terrifying dreams. You are flying on a plane, going to your dream location with your best friend. Suddenly the skies outside your window turn black. Your friend asks what you are looking at as the plane starts to bump and jolt around. You shrug as you sit back and start to close your eyes. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning hits the wing and the engine bursts into flames before your eyes. The passengers panic and scream, grabbing onto their loved ones as you just sit quietly in your own form of panic. You look out the window and see the plane tilting to one side as the other engine struggles to keep the plane in flight. Suddenly, you remember that you have been training to lucid dream for months. This is all a dream you say to yourself, until it sinks into your psyche. You now realize it is only a dream. You look to your friend, grab their arm, and say “let’s find our happiness.” You close your eyes and start whispering your mantra. “I am aware. I am aware of my dreams.” You’re friend looks over at you, clenching your arm, about to speak. You each blink and suddenly, your feet are warm. Sinking slowly, water washing over them. You feel the heat of the sun on the back of your neck. You realize you are now at the beach. Your dream vacation has arrived.
What is lucid dreaming
Lucid dreaming is the art of becoming aware in your dreams. Realizing you are dreaming amidst your sleep. Then, taking that realization and controlling yourself and objects within the dream.
Controlling our dreams
What if we could control our dreams? You can’t die in your dreams. Why not take advantage of this to provide yourself with immense growth. Do you have a phobia? Let’s say you are afraid of snakes. This is the perfect environment to get over your fear. During a dream, find your awareness. Slowly enter into your lucid dream. Sit down in your dream.
Tell yourself that you are going to use this area to grow. Imagine a harmless small snake crawling up to you. It sits in front of you, as you sit on a large boulder. Notice how the non-venomous snake flickers its harmless tongue at you. Smelling the air with its senses as you do the same while breathing in deeply. Imagine a second and then a third crawling up nearby. The green and brown pattern looking beautiful reflecting in the warm sunlight. Once you are ready, pick one up. It doesn’t feel slimy or gross at all like you imagined. It feels just as any other small intelligent earth inhabiting creature would feel. You can feel its heart beat. You can feel its muscles contract and restrict as it raises its head to examine you. You and this creature mean no harm to the other. Two curious creatures with the only intents of growth and happiness. Now set it down and let it free. Let the three of them crawl back into the field to find their own sunning rock. You are one step closer to overcoming your fears in the awake world.
You can complete this practice for any fear. To have better control of this practice you can write out how the experience will go. Just like anything, the more planning, the better the results. You can also travel anywhere with lucid dreaming. Want to go to a beach but have no means or money to travel? You can do that. Start by controlling your dreams. Find your lucid state. Imagine the sand, the ocean, the wind in your hair, the warm sun, the hot dry sand, then walk to the ocean. You can go anywhere you would like. This is a great practice to try. The more you practice the better you can get. You can then take this practice and combine it with a daily meditation routine. See how lucid dreaming changes your meditation practice for the better over time. You can meet anyone, real or fiction. You can meet your favorite celebrity or fictional book character. They may not be the real version, but it is still an interesting practice. You can imagine yourself with your favorite character exploring a remote island or hiking a mountain. Listen to what they have to say. Maybe, your subconscious will speak to you through their voice. Anything at all you can imagine can be done.
Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid Dreaming comes with many benefits. Many more benefits than negative side effects.
It encourages healthy sleeping habits. If you are going to lucid dream it is best to create good sleeping habits. Sleep is controlled by your bodies Melatonin. Your body produces most of it at night. Therefore it is best for you to go to sleep between 8p and 12a nightly. Try to rise with the sun in the morning and sleep after it sets or a few hours after it sets.
Lucid Dreaming lets you grow and face your fears. As mentioned earlier you can tackle your fears and phobias with this practice. You can grow to become fearless in the natural world.
It helps you understand your subconscious mind. With Lucid Dreaming you can better understand your mind. You can use this practice to bring benefits to your meditation routines. It will make your more aware and conscious in your every day activities.
Lucid Dreaming helps you to train and practice skills during your sleep. You can utilize this technique to practice other skills. Practice a form of martial arts, meditation, a dance routine, a musical instrument, speaking calmly to an estranged family member. You can practice any skill that you are trying to improve.
Lucid dreams can expand your conscious boundaries.
Side Effects of Lucid Dreaming
I have only come across one side effect of lucid dreaming. The side effect of not knowing when you are dreaming and when you are awake. This would surely be a terrible side effect. Though, many at some point in their life have felt a small taste of this. They have felt they are living in a dream or living in a movie. Just like any illness, mental disorder, or problem; This is an opportunity to strengthen and find growth. This side effect of not knowing when you are awake is a sign of mental illness and should be treated by medical professionals.
Dream Journals
A dream journal is essential when starting out your Lucid Dreaming journey. You may think that you never or rarely have dreams, but everyone has dreams. It is estimated that every single person dreams for at least two hours per night. Any notebook can be your dream journal. You can even use some printer paper. Obviously, the more organized you can keep your journal habits the better. The true important part writing in a dream journal will be consistency and routine/habit writing. Write down what you remember from your dreams when you wake up each morning.. If you don’t remember anything then write the date and that you do not remember anything from your dreams. This will help you create the habit of writing every morning you wake up. The quicker you can journal the better. If you wait until after you shower and get ready for the day, you will find you are forgetting bits and pieces if not the whole dream. After a few nights to a few weeks you should start to remember more and more of your dreams.
How to lucid dream
There are many different ways to get to the end result of Lucid Dreaming. I will go over one way that has worked for many.
Set an alarm for 6 hours after you go to sleep. Using a device that can set multiple alarms would be ideal. Let’s say you are going to start sleeping at 10p every night. You will want to start your bedtime routine an hour before this. At 9p go through your nightly steps. Lay in bed, turn off all electronics at least 30 minutes before you think you will fall into a slumber. Make sure your first alarm is set for 4am. You can set your next alarm for whenever you want to rise for the day. You have multiple REM cycles after you sleep. You have a REM(Rapid Eye Movement) cycle once every 2 hours or so. If you set an alarm 6 hours in, you should be in one of your longest REM cycles.
After you wake up 6 hours later you should be very close to a dream thus giving you a higher chance to remember this dream. Get up, get something to drink, and write in your dream journal about your recent dream. Write the date, the time, and as many details as you can remember. You do not need to write in perfect sentences. Especially since you may be tired. You will just want to journal quick notes. So that if you are reading this later, you can recall what you were dreaming of.
Lay back down and think about what it is you want to do in your next dream.
Repeat to yourself a mantra.(a simple sentence you can repeat to yourself to get something to stick into your mind and your subconscious.) Try a simple mantra like “I will be aware in my dreams” and repeat for 3-5 minutes or until you fall asleep. An additional mantra you could try before sleep would be: I will tell myself I am dreaming, while I am dreaming.
You could also try and repeat an action. Such as tensing your hands or rotating your arms until you fall asleep. The goal with this practice would be to try and do this in your dream. Once you do this action in your dream you will have a higher chance of correlating this action with awareness of your dream state.
Additional Tip: You can try listening to a “Lucid Dreaming Music boosting track”. There are many to find online for free. I would recommend listening to it while you are awake during meditation. Then again while you drift to sleep. If you do this enough, you could relate hearing this sound in your dream with when you awake during your meditations. This would bring awareness into your dream and help you realize you are now in a dream state.
For many this doesn’t work on the first night. Like anything it takes practice. If you stick to these practices you should start to show success after a few nights to a few weeks. Especially with avidly keeping a dream journal. Lucid dreaming is easier for some but anyone can achieve lucid dreaming. The importance is routine, routine, routine, and practice, practice, practice. Once anything in your life is a habit, good or bad, it will start shaping your life.
Keeping your dreams stable
Normal dreams are movies. Lucid dreaming is knowing that you are dreaming while you are dreaming.
Excitement usually wakes you up. Once you realize you are dreaming many wake up right away. To keep your lucid dreams stable, remain calm once you realize you are dreaming. Attempt to lay/sit still in your dream. Observe your surroundings and notice your senses. Touch objects, listen to any sounds, and try to use your sense of smell. If the dream becomes unclear, try to rub your hands together or touch your legs. You can also try saying words like, “Calm” “clear” and “stable”. This will help ground you calmly within the dream. Try to do everything slowly while you take in your dream world.
Anyone can start Lucid Dreaming. It all depends on how determined you are to stay consistent when practicing this skill just as with any new skill. It is believed that this skill will help bring you one step closer to understanding your mind and finding true enlightenment.
