I don’t understand how people believe if something happened between jancy, or if Jonathan died, then Nancy would automatically go back to Steve. If Nancy lost Jonathan, by him dying, there is no way she’d just run back to Steve and anyone who actually thinks that doesn’t know her as a character and that way of thinking is a bit misogynistic. 😭 Nancy is still not over the death of Barb, and you believe she’s going to be in an okay state to just get back with an ex after the man she loves died? Just admit you don’t know Nancy, at that point. Anyways, they wouldn’t have Nancy focus on just the boys for her final season, going from one to the other. She’s going through more important things.

Also, Steve ends the series single, his epilogue scene was leaked months ago and the photos went viral. Nancy is either ending the series with Jonathan or they’re all single. 🤷🏻‍♀️

unpopular opinion: i feel billy stans, steddie and harringrove wouldn't be as big as it is if all the people involved weren't conventionally attractive. there is no one you can excuse billy actions without being blinded by pretty privilege. steddie and harringrove have no chemistry or romantic events but people ship them because they like to see 2 attractive men together. and don't get me started on how overhyped steve and eddie are as individual characters

I’m sorry, but can people PLEASE stop putting down Nancy to hype up Steve? I’m so tired of it bc a lot of the time it screams misogyny. Saying Nancy is a terrible leader, and that Steve is better? Almost all of his big “hero” moments are due to last minute decisions. They’re never planned out at all. Nancy is great at planning and has saved their lives so many times. There’s no reason to constantly put her down to bring that man up. At this point, I’m manifesting him to d word in season five just so these Nancy antis can shut up.

Okay but platonic Elmike is gonna be SO rewatchable too after this because what do you mean in season 1 El found out Mike was a victim of homophobic bullies and made one piss his pants then broke his arm.

I'm so excited for the GA who are down for it to LOVE seeing this stuff on a second watch.

Because I talk about how they gave us very little romantic happy time. But they still gave us SO much PLATONIC happy time together for them. This is what I mean when I say they're vital to the show but not in love. All that screentime DID mean something. Which is why they sidelined the romantic parts ultimately.

On a rewatch where you're more uncomfortable with them romantically because you know that where they end up is better, you'll realize wow, I barely even actually have to see them like that...because they were always represented to me as happily platonic.

So we really just gonna jump right in here with it—

The second I saw the light on his face and that goddamn projector I knew exactly what was being referenced—the S2 moment where we first learn of a the personality split that happens (aka to Will when he’s possessed)—

—that happens in associations with a missing right eye—

—and causes a “personality change?"

Looking at how many parallels there are even just in this teaser to the possession and tracking that happened with the connection between The Shadow Monster and Will in S2, including: Needles (to put Will to sleep)—

—dilated pupils, the tunnels, the possessed fall back—

—Even a sweaty (aka near heat just in case it goes south) Will being told to fight “again?”

MY guess is that Will thinks he's "spying" on Vecna, and the Party (Mike especially) thinks Will can be a "good" spy again—but Vecna is using to track the party / slowly possessing him and his friends think it’s just him being back in Hawkins spooking the hell out of him.

Especially with that “found you” at the end of the trailer?

It’s giving the exact same energy as when Will led the demodogs into the hospital and says “he made me do it, they upset him” in S2, down to Mike and Joyce being right next to him when its realized.

Especially with Will fully flashing back to how much The Shadow Monster hates fire in S2....and MIKE talking about a burn to start the trailer over Joyce's face?!

Oh yeah. Old plan no longer works energy coming in HOT.

Especially given we know the Will/One connection is strong af even end of S4, and this plan (sending people into the tunnels to burn him—aka the crawl?) is something Vecna is wise to now.

EVEN MORE SO now that we know Will is DEF feeling some type of way about passing his feelings off to El? Anything Will (and Mike in the wake of his “love” lie) plan(s) is going to backfire—and with how Vecna uses people’s emotional weaknesses against them, with full possessed technicolor to Will’s mind?

Foreshadowing in Mrs wheeler's books

So I was looking at the synopsis and certain things stood out

a women breaking off an engagement to a man she never loved cause she realized her sibling is in love with him (hmmm… maybe in relation to Will/mike/el?)

long distance making 2 characters finally admit they love eachother (byler)

And twins(with diff personalities) end up being 1 person/the main love interest to the other main character. Which reminds me a bit of some of the s4 movies that had twins act like the same person : enemy, illusionist,black swan. Etc . also 2 personalities in 1 body were in other s4 films too.  Will and Will the wise maybe??

also maybe a coincidence but names both the book and st share were: billy, hammond, and Lucas

In s2 Mrs wheeler also reads another book by Johanna Lindsey (“ heart of thunder”). 

The heroine doesn’t actually love her first love interest ,  but the idea of him- it’s ‘love at first sight’ to her and she obsessed over him for 2 years. She realizes this guy who is her first love interest is gay and only loves her as a friend.

This reminds me of el saying Mike is her “first boyfriend ” and how the fans say it was “ love at first sight”. Also kind of reminds me of millie saying el wanted to ‘marry Mike’ XD

And of course she doesn’t actually love him …

After this she kisses Adrian and it just…really reminds me of the last m*leven kiss… im sorry XD

Also the whole thunder/storm stuff associated with Will. Or how both books karen reads -have an altered cover so the fictional main love interest to the heroine looks like Billy. Karen likes the fictional idea of Billy-not Billy himself (which is why she’s always reading the books before Billy appears). This is similar to how in s2 el watches TV and pretends to be erica in love with Mike Roy. And Erica and Mike Roy aren’t endgame in the show-their storyline even has a subplot about one of them st*lking the other after their breakup. Lol-sound familiar? Both El and Karen don’t/didn’t love Mike or Billy- they just projected onto them fictional characters they were infatuated with.

"For Will, [in next season I would expect]... I mean, maybe Byler? [...] I hope- I know they're gonna focus on Will they said and explore more of his story and the Mindflayer and with his sexuality. So, we'll see.

Will's sexuality is obviously a significant part of his arc – so I was wondering: if he's not over Mike AND he spends most of his time with him in s5 AND no new male character gets introduced at the start AND Mike doesn't return his feelings, how is that aspect of his character gonna get explored?

Because like it or not, Will's character didn't revolve mainly around his sexuality in itself in s4, but around his feelings for Mike and sacrificing himself for his (and El's) happiness.

Am I supposed to expect mainly an heartbreak (which was already his storyline in s4 and could have been resolved back then) but Will accepting himself and being loved, which is the bare minimum, while all the other characters, mainly straight, get developed romances and happy endings? that's how they would "explore" his sexuality?

I'm genuinely asking in a neutral way actually. If Mike doesn't love him, what is the plan here?

El and Mike are in front of an open (closet) door! (And other Byler thoughts from the teaser)

Fisrt off, they are posing in front of what looks like an uninstalled door, which maybe closes/covers whatever they're sitting on. That's some obvious coming out of the closet symbolism, folks! In fact, the door has been BUST OFF ITS HINGES.

Now, I'm not a body language expert, but I definitely get a clear GUT REACTION when I look at this shot.

To me, El's hand on Mike's neck feels like "I understand" body language. Her focus isn't on closeness/intimacy/kissing, but keeping some arms-length distance because she's focused on maintaining eye contact, listening , showing him she's listening, providing support, and still showing she loves him deeply.

Meanwhile, Mike's hands are cupped together and below him, as if he's asking for forgiveness, and saying something he finds difficult to say.

So perhaps this is Mike after finding out about the Painting Lie (and how Will's lie evoked in him feelings for El that he now knows were misdirected). And Mike is explaining that he loves El but isn't IN love with El.

We cannot know for sure! (All the shots from the teaser were so quick and without context!) The one thing that's certain is that they are ACTUALLY having a heart-to-heart scene, which after s4 for Milev*ns feels like rain in the desert. (When there were 5 heart-to-heart scenes for Byler in s4 they certainly didn't see Byler endgame lol.)

Theoretically it could be a step forward for their romance, but all the set-up that we Bylers know about mean that it wouldn't actually make much sense. If the show stays true to these characters, the best Milev*ns can hope for is them taking a break.

And HELLO, out-of-the-closet symbolism!

Almost certainly a nightmare. And most definitely not Will's actual death. (Why would they spoil his death in a teaser? Like REALLY?)

But YES the Duffers making us think Will will die all season CONFIRMED.

Will seems to be deliberately closing his eyes. He doesn't seem to be possessed by someone else. This suggests he's consciously going into a mindspace, in order to use powers, or delving into his buried memories. Both possibilities suggest a possible supernatural arc for Will.

And he cried tears right before this shot. There are tear streaks on his face. =( Who knows what is prompting him to do this??
