he was pretty . . . it was the first thought that struck when accidentally running into the older boy ; peyton , much younger by comparison , blinked rapidly , in a daze , eager to make it back to the common room to greet bellamy and poppy ; a scowl on face of inconvenience is what greeted her . it's a look she's all too familiar with , THE WEIRD SLYTHERIN MUDBLOOD , struggling to adapt and develop with the times , going from muggle school to . . . this , it was a lot , too much , which is why peyton is forever thankful of those that decided to have mercy and take pity on her . her eyes trailed over him , his jawline sharp , his eyes . . . wow , she's never seen eyes like that before ; bright , shining with something she couldn't quite pin point , cheeks burned pink , embarrassed , flustered as his gaze met her own " s - sorry - " she responded , squeaked , pink twinging cheeks . he barely spared her a second glance , didn't acknowledge her - peyton is grateful for it , she seems to make a fool herself at every turn ( over simulation ; rocking , disassociation , OVER COMPENSATING ) ; the last thing she wanted was make a total fool of herself in front of him , hell , maybe she already has and just didn't realise . as he walked , she couldn't help but follow his movements as he walked ( were people laughing ? at her ? did they notice ? she didn't dare look up ) head snapping to the floor , quickly making her way through the common room , head down , eyes up ; hiding behind a sea of thick , ginger curls ; a protective barrier . she found poppy in the main area ; the fire burning bright , book in hands . peyton threw herself over the couch , jumping over the back of it as she sighed deeply , head in poppy's lap ; crook of arm now over face .

" long day ?" poppy hummed, hand placed in her hair, putting the book aside . peyton shrugged weakly, "like any other." a murmur , a defeated tone taking over, " where's bell ?"

"detention," eyes rolled, yeah peyton isn't surprised, bellamy seems to spend his time there a lot, "with augustus."

"both of 'em are fuckin' idiots"

there's a small silence, poppy looking into the fire ; peyton still shrouded in darkness , trying to make shoulders unwind , then , she sits up ; her eyes trailing for the boy she had ran into , but he had long since gone - poppy grew up in the wizarding world , a pure blood , someone who knew everyone and everything , it was a community where everyone was in each others business , for better or for worse " say , i ran into this guy - " poppy's eyebrows raise in question , and peyton continues " real dark black hair , sharp jawline , pretty - real pretty eyes , he - he was pretty - " peyton stumbled over it , and poppy snorted ; pity and amusement radiating from her very being / IT MADE PEYTON FLINCH , but for some unknown reason , the words wouldn't stop stumbling out " really pretty , i - i've never seen a guy look like that before . " older guy , rich , certainly good looking . . . punching a bit above your weight , but you've got taste " peyton blushed , spluttering words that amounted to nothing , elbow digging deep into the other girls thigh causing her to jolt and let out a small , pained squeak , a breathless laugh following suit . she knows poppy's right , peyton doesn't see herself as someone . . . having , a boyfriend , or girlfriend ( her mum said it was okay , never be ashamed , and peyton wasn't - but girls are trickier than boys ) ; she wasn't pretty , wouldn't give anything worth while . . . she's going to die alone , that's her thought process ; AT LEAST SHE'LL HAVE FRIENDS ( love was love , even if some of it is different and may not be enough , it was enough )

" you know , he's a seeker . " her eye widened at that , flicking up to meet poppy's gaze , the glee in her eyes made peyton shy away if only for a moment " i suppose i'll be seeing you at your first game , don't worry , i'll get us the good seats , just make sure this doesn't get out , goofball " PEYTON GRINS , BITING DOWN ON LOWER LIP - just enjoying the view couldn't hurt , could it ?
