As an Emma fan, people can be weird about fat emma too… (my fat Emma posts get SIGNIFICANTLY less views than my skinny ones, and I’m not saying that to complain per se, rather just pointing out a trend I’ve noticed), but outside of that, your point is REAL AND TRUE!!

The way I can tell so SO many of the folks who are arguing about how harmless it is to make Steph skinny have NEVER had to deal with issues regarding their weight… as someone who had an ED and as someone who’s not thin, I’m saying it’s insane that this is an argument ngl because they DON’T hold that same energy for other “non-canon compliant” headcanons (I do not wish to comment on Mariah’s body by any means).

This fandom has an issue with not addressing and/or breaking down their internalized biases, and it really shows in moments like this ngl where people have decided it’s harmful for people to… not want to interact with people who have different headcanons from them?? Especially when it comes to marginalized headcanons??? What do you think block and move on really means…??? Really?

I also think this is a big result of how covid has impacted fandom and fandom culture, and how it allowed groups of people who usually would’ve never engaged in fandom to discover it. It’s WHY this fandom (and others, Hatchetfield is not isolated in this issue) has such a big issue with media that’s “not canon compliant” or “not confirmed” nowadays. But that’s probably a different conversation to have at a different time.

TL;DR - Let people headcanon characters as fat, they don’t owe you interaction if they disagree, block and move on, and PLEASE address your internalized biases because your fatphobia is lowkey showing. (not aimed at OP)

can everyone just shut up about headcanons they dont like. people hc steph as fat because they like seeing her as fat. end of story. when someone says "stephanie lauter is fat btw !!!! shes fat and shes still hot and desirable !! btw !! and you cant do anything about it !!!" they are talking about stephanie lauter. not mariah rose faith casillas. if they were talking about mariah they would say mariah. thats like saying someone going "peter spankoffski has audhd and is transgender btw !! and his friends still love him!! btw !!!" is saying real life man joey richter has autism and adhd and is a trans man. like be so fr. its always only steph being hced as fat that gets people up in arms too nobody gives a shit when people say emma is fat. like jesus fucking christ leave people alone
