HELLO! im back with tbhx yapping!! This is ep 5 Yap so spoilers ahead!!
Hide yaps below
"In this world, as long as people believe then there is no dream too big"
Well said old man
Yang Cheng seems like a normal kid
Just like Lin Ling, hes leading a normal life
He wants to pursue a girl and has issues approaching her despite being friends for years now
Although the traumatic experience he had as a kid could be shaping him now, E soul saving him could possibly be the good change to occur for him
He leads a life like most people in this world probably, wanting to become a hero and chasing their dreams
I think its fine to scrap my idea now that people know about how they can become heroes by identity theft, as shown in this ep people <Or at least most actors> know that they can just perform the role in order to become the hero
THE ANIMATION IS BANGER <as per usual>
Its interesting that despite only having one believer, it somehow made him stronger in that sense
Like it only takes a person to believe for you to become something
So really, if you believed hard enough in yourself you can become anything
That has to be the case!
Yang Cheng's story is going to he a good one!!
I dont have much to say as its an introductory episode but ive got much to think about
Im excited for E Soul ep 2!!
Belief is everything in this world

Hide’s TBHX yaps
Hello im back at it again with my episodical yaps
EP 4 Spoilers and yap under the cut
well that just happened.
Uhm okay well, This is!
a turn
a turn of an episode
lets start with the beggining, the trust values are fully on screen for us to see, we understand it even more now
the entire episode was riddled with the trust value, focusing on the trust value and how it impacts the characters
then
theres LinLing becoming his “own” hero
being able to split himself from the image of nice, however theres a thing I want to mention about this
theres a heavy feeling in my heart that Nice’s story isnt done yet
it feels like he’s hovering over the story, as if he’s a ghost with a story to tell. His story ended very abruptly and we never got the whole picture. Although Linling abandoning the image of Nice to become his own hero, he isnt completely free of him.
I think Nice will still haunt the story, theres got to be more to him than we initially recognize
I think one of the main telling things of this is the fact thst Linling wasnt able to fully rid himself of Nice
there remains a white set of hair within his, dead set on the centre too
I feel like its there to remind LinLing of his time being nice, like a haunting past he still hasnt recovered from
now, I primarily put own in quotation marks for specific reasons
1. Heroes are truly not free until the narrative behind their persona is removed. if they present themselves as one way or another, they are to remain as that idealogy for the rest of their hero career (of course until someone comes along and ruins it)
2. with how LinLing became a hero, It seems like the way his power works is strange. It feels like the narrative with moon will be reversed on him. He presented the world this one perspective which is the fact that he cares for moon and that he will protect her. What I mean is that, he is trapped in this narrative that he wrote. Being unable to be truly free.
and then theres Moon
Oh lord have fucking mercy, Moon
The series has turned its head from the cushiness of dreams of becoming heroes and fully turned to the reality
Moon died
my friend had mentioned about the fact that people believing that moon died also being kind of a true thing that happened
we are faced with the tragedy of the way this world functions
it is not “trust” value, it is the belief of self fulfilling prophecies
it is believing that if we can do it, we eventually will
a growth mindset put against us
and god, what a tragedy.

the inherit body horror of to be hero x - or when your life becomes a prison and the only way to freedom is death
Three episodes that we already got showed us how horrorish the trust system is. People's cognition of you affects not only your abilities, but how you look as well. It controls your *whole body*. You lose autonomy of your whole body. It's not just yours now - it's the body that's controlled by the masses.
FirmMan was not able to sleep properly, kneel, or do such a simple thing as using the toilet. How many things he had to give up on? He's a hero, yet he wouldn't even be able to help a kid that tripped over. To pick up something that he accidently dropped. His whole body was just reduced to standing. How frustrating that must be? How depressing? You can't even dress properly, you just need to be standing, you are reduced to nothing but a symbolic statue.
Moon also lost her freedom. The powers that were supposed to let her be free - she's got teleportation! She should be able to go wherever she desires! - became something that infinitely traps her with Nice. She can't leave not only because of her contract. Her power makes her trapped with him.
And Nice and Ling Lin. Body moving in a way that HAS to be perfect. All the time. Everything around you has to be perfect. Simple slouch is unacceptable. A drop of water that's not symmetrical? Gone. Always stuck in the endless loop of pursuing perfection. But the world isn't perfect! The world is messy and asymmetrical and chaotic, and so are bodies. How many bodily functions did they lose because of that? How frustrating it must be to always have the need to correct everything and you can't just stop it. You can't control it. You have to strive for perfection all the time.
And yet - their minds are still free. Moon doesn't fall in love with Nice, even though fans want them togheter. And, based on the episode two I think it's safe to say that Nice doesn't love her either - he's connected emotionally to Wreck, even though in the public eye they are enemies. FirmMan still had his basic needs and was aware, that he can't meet them. He suffered mentally because of that. It took a toll on him. And Lin Ling - the public believes that he is Nice. But he isn't and he knows he isn't and deep inside he's still Lin Ling. He needs to get it out, it's weighing on him.
They are trapped inside their own bodies. Their powers become their prisons. They can't leave on their own, they can't change it, they are stuck, with no knowledge for how long will it last. How devastating it must be, to not have the control over your own bodily autonomy? They are just puppets, with free minds. That's the true body horror.
And that is also why I think Nice committed suicide. I think it was a conscious, deliberate decision. There is one thing that was not taken from him (and all of the heroes, I'm assuming) and it's death.
You see, death has a symbolic meaning of freedom. Not only in literature, but in real life too many people think of death as the ultimate freedom. You might be dead, but you will be *free*. And that is the price that some are willing to pay.
Nices death was his escape from his prison - his own body. It was the only thing that they haven't yet taken from him. And he didn't even know how long did he have. What if the public started believing that he was immortal? That he was indestructible? He would be stuck eternally in this existential horror. His death was him desperately trying to be free. And he achieved that. His fall was actually awful. It wasn't a pretty death. He fell into the wall and only then on the ground; it was messy, it was traumatizing and it was, in every way, an opposite of perfection. He made his choice and he was finally free.
And, because of that, nor Moon nor FirmMan have to die in order to be free. For them freedom would also only come in the form of death. We see that in episode two, when Moon "dies" and thanks to that achieves her freedom (see, how death is linked to freedom further than only nices suicide). The haunting connection that Nice and Lin Ling have shapes how the future of heroes that interact with Lin Ling looks. Nice dies. But nor Moon nor FirmMan have to die, to achieve their freedom. Their freedom is achieved through Lin Ling. In a way Nices passing/passing his identity broke the cycle. Because while Lin Ling was not in the position to save Nice, he can make sure, and does (consciously or not), that it never happenes again.

Its so neat that To be hero x is here now ive been waiting since the first trailer and the story is genuinely so interesting
Obviously waiting for X, Captured my heart from the very beggining
I might make my little episode yaps every sunday
Ep 1-3 Yaps under the cut!
Episode 1:
OPENING SONG IS SUCH A BANGER! It does remind me a little bit of Solo Leveling’s opening but thats irrelevant here
it was a lot more than I expected, the sudden death from OG Nice Im not gonna lie made me giggle cause I though that he was expecting Lin Ling to stop/grab him and obviously he died
Im also wondering why THAT specific place to choose and die? What could have made him want to do it there when he saw that Lin Ling was there
Episode 2:
Genuinely in love with how they portray moon as her own character or at least wanting to be her own character away from Nice
Most often than not secondary female characters get forced into the romantic subplot rather than letting them be their own character!
Obviously the Wreck and Nice plotline is a little tragic that I wish they would have divulged more so we have a better understanding on who former Nice was
overall a good ep and honestly a little shocking because of how they touched on the topics that usually follows the status quo
We kind of get a lot more information how capitalistic the nature is of the hero org, a theory of mine is that X is his own thing and is not signed to a Superhero org at all I mean he could be considering he has that drink branded after him? I guess we’ll figure out in october!
Episode 3:
I enjoyed this episode because I misunderstood how the world works from ep 1
I thought that you would have to have multiple have faith in you, to have supporters behind you in order to obtain the powers but not at all, The nature of this world is that if multiple people believe you are one thing, then you become that thing
I watched this episode with my friend and he pointed out how sad thst shit could be, like imagine being a kidergsrtener and a bunch of your classmates believe you are a poopy head, what will that do to you yknow? <Its a childish comparison but it still lets you see the bigger picture>
it also tells us a lot about how one sided Views can affect people, Stand Man couldnt sit down at all because people believed that he stood for justice, that he always will and that perspective affected his personal life as well
I think in a way, this may be affecting Lin Ling because he took on this Nice persona, he’s completely forgotten abt his former life and his personality has changed completely
He has OCD as mentioned from the last few moments between his conversation with Stand Man and I think this might be from how the people see Nice as this perfect non lying hero, the most upfront to his fans and the like
aside from that we got to take a greater peek into the capitalistic nature of this world! Popularity is everything and its important that we make it to the top ten!
genuinely curious abt X even more We’ll see!
