“There’s literally nothing more to it.” Thomas said, though it was a partial lie. Apparently, if he could go by Juliet’s dream, there was something more from her side, there was definitely something more than friendship that he was opened for in the past too with her, but Juliet then got with Ethan, and she was happy. It was very easy for Thomas to let her be happy and ‘sacrifice’ his own happiness, because he really wanted her to be happy, regardless of who it was with.
Moving outside, Thomas dug out a small pit close to the window which thankfully had a small overhang above it, so in case of rain, the fire might be protected. There were small branches nearby and enough leaves to start off small, now he just needed something easy to light and something to light the fire with. The first part was easy, while the second part required the good old stone against stone method to get the spark. Thomas struggled with it, given how his one arm was in a sling, though eventually get got it and got the fire going.
Once he was sure it would keep burning, he added more wood and moved inside. “Ready for the inevitable?”

Nothing to it, right. There was something. Even if he, for good reason, didn’t want to acknowledge it. He had a good thing with Lia. Lia deserved better than a guy half in love with his best friend and so he pushed it down, no matter how rocky it was. But there was not nothing, hadn’t been for years now. The thing was just: Circumstances made it impossible and Thomas being a good guy didn’t want to entertain the real idea of it, because he was loyal to a fault.
Steve watched him as he worked and made sure to get himself into a comfortable position so Magnum would have an easy time pulling the knife and cauterizing the wound. It was all about getting himself as immobile as possible. Once he braced himself that way, Steve nodded to the slightly younger man.
“Well then, White Knight, show me what you got.”

“You really want to go that route? Okay. Alright. In that case, I can say the same about you and Danny. The cute looks between you, the banter and arguments you have… like, come on, Steve, who are you even trying to convince that there’s not something between you guys?” Now he was poking a bit of fun his way, because it was easily a two way street like this. “We’re both very protective of each other. We’re each other’s emergency contacts. She’s the reason to my foolishness, and she’s my best friend.”
One that was currently still out like a little light. He sighed softly, because of that, and because of Steve’s request. It brought back memories of when Nuzo did that to him, just with gunpowder. Thomas shivered, but didn’t really have much of a choice. He nodded.
“Alright. I’m not happy about it, because I know the pain of having a wound cauterized, but if you want that, I’ll do it. ”

“That’s it, isn’t it?” Steve asked with a laugh. Magnum obviously had a point so he let it slide, but hestill thought unlike him and Danny there was some romantic attraction between Thomas and Juliet. Somehow he suspected one day he would be able to revisit this convesation and give Magnum a ‘I told you so’.
“I know the pain, too, so don’t worry too much about it.” He hoped he could at least get Magnum to relax a little about it. “I can take it, don’t worry about me. Just...let’s get it over with, so we can focus on getting the signal set up and then grab something to eat and get as comfortable as we can get.” He would tease him a little later, just to keep it easy.

“That was to be expected! Robin was very excited when we told him we met you and your team, and he’s been talking about wanting to meet you ever since. At this point I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he’d write a spin off series that dates pre White Knight books with you as the main character.” It would make for a good read, too, and Thomas would have loved to read about some missions Steve was on, even though he knew Robin would probably wrap it all nicely into a story.
He chuckled lightly. “Tia and Alejandro are just based on us, personality wise and job wise and all. Robin wants there to be something between me and Higgy, so he used the characters as a way to channel it, I guess. Juliet… she broke up with Ethan a while ago, and I’m dating Lia, even though that’s slightly rocky now too. There was attraction in play from my side before, though.” He could tell that much, and obviously he’d keep the sexy dream Juliet had about him and her to himself. That was her story to tell, if she wanted to.
“In that case… it might be safe enough to pull out, and there’s still enough scraps from my shirt to stop the bleeding and make makeshift bandages.”

“You know what, he can when we make it out of here.” He suspected the man would come to Hawaii to see his two friends in hospital after being saved from the jungle. So Steve suspected a meeting with Robin Masters could be imminent. Robin was not the only person interested in meeting. Even though he knew the protagonists and all, The White Knight series was sitll his favorite book series.
“Oh I think that is very much mutual attraction,” Steven said. “At least based on what I saw even back when we worked that case together. She had some...she was quite protective of you.” Steve leaned back a little and thought. Usually the step he was about to suggest would not be taken, but in this case it would only make sense.
“How about you build that fire now? And then when you pull the knife out, you heat it up and cauterize the bleeding?” He sighed, dreading the pain. “I know it’s unorthodox in that case, but it’ll allow me to actually help around here more than just a bandage.”

“Your character is not barely there! Maybe physically, but even you have to admit that there’s still his heavy presence around. He’s the one the Knight goes to for advice and… well, essentially to enable him in things others wouldn’t. So yeah, maybe small presence but with a huge and significant impact.” Thomas pointed out before letting out a soft whine. “You too? Everybody’s been on my case the moment they realized Tia is supposed to be Higgy.”
As he turned back to Steve with the soaked cloth, now seeing what exactly was the matter, Thomas made a face. “Okay so… there’s good news, and there’s slightly less good news. Good news is, there’s a small knife stuck in your back, which potentially is good because we at least have some sort of weapon. Bad news, it’s lodged pretty close to where your liver’s supposed to be.”

“You have to admit though his importance was ramped up the moment we actually met,” Steve pointed out. His character was in the books more prominently and clearer the moment Robin Masters learned that the two of them met and worked a case together. Steven even suspected that he interrogated Thomas or Juliet about it. “So based on that experience, I can’t help but think that Tia’s and Alejandro’s attraction might have some real world foundation.” Scratch that the attraction had real world foundation, even a blind man could see that. They had been engaged for heaven’s sake.
“Cool, Danny’s gonna kill me,” Steve chuckled. “I can make it better for you, Thomas. That thing is not in my liver, I know that kind of pain and that’s not it. It’s...it feels like it’s stuck in a muscle only.”

Thomas made sure that the leg injury was cleaned as best as he could, then wrapped in more of his shirt before he added the makeshift cast for it that would keep it in place once she woke and tried to move. It would probably be very scary for her, so they’d have to calm her and prevent her from moving too much, especially with her injuries.
Once done, he nodded, and allowed Steve to put his arm into a makeshift sling, which helped ease the pain, and crippled him just a little bit. He’d manage somehow though.
“I’ll get a fire going, but first get that shirt off so I can take a look at your back. You look like you’ll collapse any moment. I’ll grab more of the cloth and take a look at it. And don’t give me any of that White Knight stuff. You’re in the book as much as I am and as much as Juliet is.”

“Magnum, we both read the books. I am barely in the books at all,” McGarrett pointed out. He was a shadowy figure on the side, the CO that occassionally gave the White Knight orders or Gos when the other COs wouldn’t in missions that Steve rarely was on or well one where he was on but he hadn’t had contact with Magnum in that one at all. “You guys are the main characters. I do have a few questions about you and T.R.Belle though.”
Steve carefully peeled his shirt off to reveal his back to Magnum. He really had a few things to ask his friend. It would probably also adequately distract them. Especially since Steve had gotten the new book when he was abroad, just before he returned to Hawaii and boy was Juliet recognizable. He really wanted to know if their steamy scene was founded in reality and thus if they finally got their shit together and consumated the sparks between them.

Those were quite a few major injuries, and that was on Juliet alone. Apparently Steve wasn’t too far from it if something was stuck in his back, and depending on how bad it was, Thomas might not be allowed to pull whatever it was out just to prevent Steve from bleeding out as well. It might not be anything major in terms of bleeding, but in their situation, he didn’t want to take risks.
Without hesitation, Thomas took his shirt off and started tearing it apart to the best of his ability, making sure to keep the cleanest parts so they could use it as bandages and cloths for cleaning the wounds. He got a couple pieces wet and handed them to Steve. “I’ll go grab sticks outside and leaves so we can secure her leg, probably even my arm too.” It did start to hurt, and felt as if his shoulder was essentially burning.
A bit later Thomas came back with what he said he’d get, including a sharp enough rock that would hopefully do the trick in impaling the coconut on it before opening it fully.
“I’ll get started on the injury on her leg. We’ll need to do something about Juliet’s arm, too.”

He leaned back when Magnum turned to get what they needed. From There they could take care of Juliet’s wounds as much as they could. Steven really wanted to make her comfortable. And then them. There was not much they could do once their wounds were cared for and once they had a signal. Maybe getting a fire going, but that should not be a problem.
Steve care for the injuries Magnum didn’t mention, including setting her arm and fixing it in a makeshift cast.
“Come on then, White Knight, time to fix your arm and then... well care for my back.” There was a specific reason why he motioned for Magnum to come first. Depending on how bad it was, there was a chance he might pass out during treatment, which would prevent him from treating Magnum.
“When we’re done with me... Maybe etch something into the ground outside and make a fire in here. Close to the window.”

“Our shirts are also something we can wash first before cleaning wounds with them.” Thomas pointed out. Now obviously, he was the one who wanted to carry Juliet, though Steve had the right idea in picking her up instead, even assuring him that she’ll be fine. He trusted him with that, and knew that Steve was the more likely candidate to carry her since Thomas’ arm was very much out of commission in terms of lifting anything heavier.
Following them inside, Thomas saw that it wasn’t a bad place to stay sheltered in. It wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t the worst either. he put the leaf down and made sure to prop it up so it wouldn’t topple over, then joined Steve at Juliet’s side, feeling her forehead. “She’s burning up.” That was never a good sign.
“We’ll make it through, okay? Things are looking bad, but we were trained for this. We have survival instinct on our side. We’ll get cleaned up and patched up, then see if there’s any way to get somewhat of a signal going so others know where we are.

They had to take care of her first, that much was clear. Juliet was the one that couldn’t communicate her needs right now so they had to make sure they could carefor her, keep her alive for as long as they needed. Steve proped himself up to start looking her over. The single most concerning injury was the one coloring her beautiful blonde hair reddish: She had a rather major head-wound, which instantly explained her not waking up.
He found two more major injuries on her. “We need to set her leg and then bind the wounds there. Otherwise not much we can do for her. After... I think you need to take a look at my back. Pretty sure there is something in it.”

“Coconut water’s much better than this.” It was a good thing they had that around, as it solved the water and food issue, at least for the time being. “But I’m guessing a first aid kit is just wishful thinking?” It was still worth asking, even though he suspected that Steve would have already gotten that out to Juliet if he found it. But they’d work with what they had, they were both trained for situations like this one, and survival instincts would kick in really fast. They’d have to make makeshift weapons, get resourceful with the things they had around them, and not keep themselves alive, but Juliet as well, and make sure that she’d be fine until they were found - if they were found.
He believed in Danny and the Five-0 crew, as well as Rick and TC and everybody else, but searching through over 160 islands didn’t exactly seem doable in a couple of days. They might be stuck in the jungle for a while.
“You’re not looking too good yourself.” And even Thomas started feeling very weak, and his shoulder began hurting a lot. “How will we get Juliet inside? Maybe a gourney with leaves and drag her along? Might be best if we move her as little as possible.”

“There was one but it was soaked through and green. Probably been here since the place was abandoned. Our shirts are less risky than that thing.” He would not be the one to bandage Juliet with something he knew was bad for her health. Especially not with Magnum around. He would no open himself up to his overly worried husband mode and that would come eventually.
“Might jostle her a lot. I can...carry her.” It would jostle her, too, but it would be faster. He knew he had just enough adrenaline left to carry Juliet down. Magnum had the arm, which would be the liability.
Steven stood over Juliet to pick her up. Once he had her he winked at Thomas. “No worries, I got her safe. Follow us.” He walked off, down to where she would be protected. He carefully placed her on the floor there, hand running over her skin. She was warm to the touch, too warm. Steve collapsed next to her, pain finally catching up to him.
“Yeah...we’re in trouble.”

Thomas let out a painful cry as his shoulder was pushed back into place. Steve was fast and got to the point immediately. As unexpected as it was, he appreciated it and nodded in understanding. It was best to do it when one least expected it, and while it still hurt and would continue hurting, he could at least properly use his arm, more or less.
His eyes fell on the mentioned ruins. They were their best shot, and if not, they had to improvise, which meant making a makeshift shelter out of bamboo and leaves. Even though, if they had nothing on them to chop the bamboo down, things would get much more difficult, and everything pointed towards that so far.
Keeping in mind not to stray too far away, Thomas moved out trying to see if there was fresh water close by. He wasn’t lucky with finding that, though with how the floor was damp, it was either from recent rain or from condensation. Hoping it was the former, Thomas looked for any water that might have accumulated on leaves, and luck was on his side. It wasn’t much, but it was a good start, so he carefully broke off the leaf and brought it to Steve.
“There might be more of these nearby. Any luck with the shelter?”

Two things became clear as soon as Magnum was gone: One he was more injured than he thought, two, the structure was heaven-sent in more than one way. It didn’t take Steve long to find one room that was whole enough to provide shelter from the rain and other weather for them and Juliet. It also didn’t take him long to find a small orchard of coconuts and he instantly collected the ones that already dropped. They just had to open them and then they could treat Juliet with the coconut water. Plus they would have something to eat.
“Yes,” he said as Thomas rejoined him with the leaf. They could use that first, naturally. “In face I not only found a room, but there’s also coconuts in what used to be the courtyard. We just need something to open them with and we have coconut water to treat her with, coconut to eat and maybe even little bowls to collect drinking water in. How are you doing?”

The moment Steve mentioned Juliet, Thomas attention shifted to her. His eyes went wide as he saw her, a shiver running down his spine at the sight. All three of them were in a really rough shape, but she, by the looks of it, got it the worst. His own pain and injuries forgotten, Thomas joined Steve, checking her for all possible wounds, if she was bleeding heavily anywhere, and it seemed like she wasn’t, though that meant nothing. With how bad she looked, she might have internal bleeding, probably broken ribs, too.
Thomas nodded at that, seeing how Steve relaxed, which meant that she was still alive. He leaned in then, listening to her breathing, before he straightened up again, although with slight difficulty. “Breathing sounds stable enough for now, so there’s a chance that she doesn’t have a punctured lung. We’ll still have to be careful when moving her.” If moving was even in the cards for them.
“If you can fix my shoulder, I’ll try to find a fresh water source. It’s our best bet right now for getting ehr wounds cleaned, and ours too.” They could maybe even make a makeshift gourney of sorts, to make it easier getting Juliet around, and maybe even to help them with any possible broken bones. But being stuck in the jungle, that seemed almost like the least of their problems.
“Do you think anybody will come look for us? Where even are we?” Because to him, it was just jungle, nothing more or less. All jungles looked the same to him.

They would have to move her. Depending on how long they were here, it would be essential to get her somewhere sheltered. Rain could be detrimental to her survival and he would not want to risk it. There were two reasons: One, he liked Juliet a great deal. She was fascinating and impressive. Two, he could see how badly Thomas would take it.
Steven nodded as Thomas asked for his assitance. He gripped his arm, pushed against his shoulder and without warning pulled it and pushed it back into its socket again. He suspected it would swell up soon, but at least it was back in the socket.
“Sorry, but you know how it is.” Warning him would make it worse. “Don’t stray too far looking for water. While you do that, I will check out the ruins here. Maybe one room is intact enough to provide shelter for us.” As he got up, ignoring all the way his skin pulled and other places.
“The only person other than me who could stop Danny from coming to look for us is unconcious withus. So yes, they will be coming to find us. They just have around 130 islands to check, so it might take them a day or two.” Until then they would have to keep Juliet alive somehow.

Honestly he had thought he had left torture behind when his mother died and he left the island and came back. He really thought the change in his work would have him not face this anymore. Well, he was wrong. The mission called for backup from friends even and suddenly he found himself held captive with none other than the White Knight and T.R. Belle - seriously it didn’t take a genious to make that connection once you knew Magnum was the Knight.
He groaned as he woke to Magnum shaking him. Looking around he found them not only released but alone in that old ruin of a military facility on...a northern island. He had no idea which one. He knew, before he passed out, that they flew north and he suspected based on the vegetation and birds that they were still on a hawaiian island, but as there were over 130 of them, that still made it anyones guess where they were. It literally only ruled out Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kaho’olawe and Hawai’i, and obviously Lo’ihi.
His eyes fell on Higgins next. Shit. She looked really bad. Adrenaline pumped through him instantly, making him unable to even feel pain as he sat up.
“Juliet?” he asked Magnum as he scooted forward to the blonde. “Shit,” he cursed as he saw her. So many cuts and blooming bruises. Her arm was twisted in an open fracture, it looked like multiple other ones. Wrists and arms had lacerations. Whoever did this to them...Juliet had taken the brunt of the abuse. He placed his hand on her neck, to see if she was still with them. Thankfully the flutter of her pulse was still there.
“We have to treat the wounds as good as we can.”

It took a while for Thomas to come to. His head was pounding, essentially everything hurt, and at first he didn’t know where he was or what was going on. The floor beneath him was damp and soft, the smell of dirt was in the air, and bit by bit, things came back to him, on step at a time.
Juliet and him teamed up with Five-0 again in a joint mission, but things went wrong. Horribly wrong, actually, and he was reminded of it as he tried to sit up. He hissed as he moved, essentially unable to move his left arm. A glace at it showed his shoulder was dislocated, and that was only mild for what they went through. Juliet, Steve and him got captured, essentially tortured, and judging by the surroundings, were left in the jungle. There was no way he could even remotely tell where they were.
Thomas started to panic then. Not because of being unable to orientate, but because of Juliet and Steve. Shit. Thomas frantically looked around, spotting both still out, and moved first to Steve to the best of his ability, shaking him a bit.
“Steve? Steve!”

By all Tani could tell, things couldn’t get worse. The guy they were trying to get out was nowhere to be seen, Steve, as per usual, went inside on his own first, and things escalated from there on. The commotion inside was a telltale sign enough for the rest of the team to storm the place and help in every way possible and be the backup Steve needed. Lou, Junior and Quinn were one group and they circled around the back, while Tani was with Danny and Adam, and they went in from the front.
It didn’t take them too long to track down Steve, moving through bad guy after bad guy, and once there, the look on Danny’s face and Steve’s condition alone were enough for her to know that shit hit the fan. Tani never saw Steve like this. From how Danny looked, she assumed he did. She knew what it was, at least assumed she knew what it was, because her dad went through the same, though never this badly. And Steve seemed zoned out completely, on top of being injured, which meant that any sudden movement could cause aggression.
“Steve? Steve, it’s Tani. Danny’s here with me, Adam too.” She started gently. “We’ll help you get out of here and patch you up, okay?”

It felt wrong. He could not be here. He had to get out. However he got here. How did he get here? He was nto meant to be here. Panicked eyes scanned the room. For Wo Fat, his almost brother, for any other threat, the drug dealers that almost ended his life, even for his own mother. Steve’s eyes fell to the floor, to the red spreading in the water. It almost felt calming, but in an eerie sense of finality. He was not meant to feel that way.
A voice. His eyes snapped up, expecting Wo Fat or any other threat. It...wasn’t. But...he could not focus on who it was. Then he saw the person behind her - it was a her. Blonde. He raised his gun...and dropped it instantly. He recognized the man. Danny. His Danno...and she...Tani. Oh god, he almost pointed his gun at Tani and Danny. He gasped, the gun noisily clattered to the floor.
“Where....? How did I...?” Where was he? How did he get here? He looked down at the floor again. “Whose blood?”

Steve gasped as the knife landed in his stomach. The pain errupted in him, familiar in a sense. And something else: Fear. Panic. Steve stumbled to the side. He fumbled for the knife still inside him as he stumbled onto the next room. The smell of smoke hit his nose, smoke and water. He saw sparks reflect in water, saw a chair in the middle of the room where they had held their captive before, electrocuted him, too, maybe.
Steve groaned . Behind him gunfire echoed, but he didn’t even flinch anymore. He couldn’t. His heart beat so fast, it was painful. His mind supplied him only with memories, one more painful and scary than the other. He fell to his knees with another gasp, stared at the water in front of him, that slowly turned red...

The full moon was high over Robin’s Nest. An eerie mist settled over it. Kumu had left ealier, telling them that something seemed amiss, something with the ancestors was troubeling her. Aumakua’s settled on the nest all day. It took great power for the army to divert from their path, but they did so, because their newest warrior needed it.
Before the army arrived, they slammed the entrances to the main house shut, locked them so even if she woke, she could not interfere. Then the drums started. The torches appeared and the army of the dead, the night marchers materialized outside.
Only one of them did so inside: Steve, their newest one. His translucent form shone in the moonlight.
“Magnum.”
