my niigo nintendo switch analysis i just posted on bluesky, because i like to overthink details the team behind the videos probably didn’t think about at all for headcanon-building purposes:

niigo was playing the switch version of minecraft (ena was at least, i’m pretty sure all were), which implies all four of them have a switch.

mizuki definitely has one, i know it’s a super cute one too. ena i could see having one (maybe a lite) for cozy games. she really enjoyed building in minecraft and was good at it, so maybe she has experience with those kinds of games. i wonder how and when kanade and mafuyu got theirs, though. none of them had played minecraft before (allegedly) and mizuki said she wanted to play cause she saw classmates playing. so mizuki could’ve bought them all the game.

the switch came out long enough ago that if we assume niigo is currently in 2025, it’d have released when they were 9-10 (what the…) UNLESS we’re in 2020-2021, then they could’ve been around 13-15. either way, in that case, i could see a switch possibly having been a gift kanade received as a kid years ago knowing she used to be playful and a nerd (her profile says she likes animanga, and she recognizes things mizuki likes). maybe it was collecting dust til now.

mafuyu is a bit trickier. if mafuyu received a switch as a gift, i can’t see her mom letting her keep it long. and if she was age 14-15, i doubt she’d ever have one to begin with. and i can’t see mafuyu buying one herself unless she was convinced by mizuki. therefore, someone had to have given her that switch. but who. if mizuki buys them all minecraft, hypothetically, she’s spending about 14,000-16,000ish yen already.

mizuki however, is the only employed one, and we know she drops a lot regularly shopping. as does ena, who also has a well off family. so did they (or all of them) pitch in to get mafuyu her own switch for niigo minecraft… or even, did her dad buy it as a consolation gift after everything, for whatever reason? did one of them just have an extra switch laying around? maybe gamer mizuki had a bonus lite because it came in coral? does this matter literally at all? no, but i like the idea of nightcord all having matching gaming consoles to play together sometimes, and i like to think about the logistics of the tiniest things.
