ーーー This is both of your graduation performance. Upon finishing performances at the Takarazuka Grand Theatre, how do you feel about welcoming the Tokyo opening performance.

◆Yuzuka Rei

I want to treat this performance as a new one, and create a better performance, so I have been doing rehearsals in the classroom and on stage. We finished our one month and a half of performances in the Takarazuka Grand Theatre, but I want to do as much as I can, and do more on various aspects, thinking of how to embrace certain traits of the role. Once again, I wanted to deliver even a tiny bit of energy to the audience in this energetic stage, and I'm approaching this performance from the start again.

◆ Hoshikaze Madoka As Yuzuka-san said, while this is our graduation performance, what I always think about the Tokyo performances is even when the Grand Theatre performances already ended, I'm at the stage of wanting to aim higher until the Tokyo closing performance comes. I want to treasure this time and perform well in this musical.

ーーー From how you carefully play the role, to conveying the duet dance at the finale like a chapter of a drama, how did you feel dancing together?

◆ Yuzuka Rei I've been approaching my role since the rehearsals for the Grand Theatre, and the long period of time performing in the Grand Theatre, but now I think more of "how would Marcel feel in this kind of way" and for yesterday and today, I read the script with Catherine (Hoshikaze) all over again. While interpreting each and every scene, we had discussions on "how the relationship of the couple would change", so I hope that I'd be able to present Marcel, and even Marcel's relationship with Catherine better, and I'm still exploring and searching for the answer. How did you feel about the duet dance?

◆ Hoshikaze Madoka When we walked out of the silver bridge, usually we would start on opposite sides on the left and right and meet at the center, but this time we're holding hands...

◆ Yuzuka Rei Having a walk on the silver bridge (LOL).

◆ Hoshikaze Madoka I feel so blessed when we could have a walk together. I could feel the love from the many sensei, so I want to cherish this time performing this.

◆ Yuzuka Rei

I hope that everyone could watch over our duet dance, that we could make the performance deeper and richer in content, and that we would also cherish this time together.

The two will be graduating from the revue after the Tokyo closing performance. Upon finishing the performances in the homebase Hyogo Takarazuka Grand Theatre, Yuzuka said with deterimination, "I will do my very best to deliver a stage that the audience will be happy with". Hoshikaze also promised and said, "I'm truly grateful from the bottom of my heart. I will stay well and remember such emotions to the end."

The performance takes place in Paris under Nazi German occupation, and the story conveys how the French protagonist Marcel (Yuzuka) protects the revue lights aflame.

The musical is full of dance scenes, and Yuzuka smiled in satisfaction, "I'm glad to show the many types of dance numbers to our audience. I'm also happy to take on this role to the end." As a dancer, Yuzuka said, "Once again, I wanted to deliver even a tiny bit of energy to the audience in this energetic stage, and I'm approaching this performance from the start again. There have been many discoveries, things I'm curious about and challenges to face."

There will be jazz, latin and classical dances conveyed in the performance. Yuzuka said, "I'm glad to show the audience different types of dance numbers. I've been learning how to master and hone my dance skills through the role every day so I'm happy to take on this role in the very end."

Looking back as a Top Star who lived through the pandemic times, "It's a great dream for the protagonist Marcel to think on how to hone his dance even more but he was filled with the urge to make every stage happy for the audience who came to the theatre, and that was his growth. I also have felt this warmth from the audience the most in this time, so I think these traits of ours are connected", mentioning how the protagonist overlaps with herself.

Hoshikaze plays the songstress and commented, "Even though this is our graduation performance, I'm at the stage of wanting to aim higher until the Tokyo closing performance comes. I want to treasure this time and perform well in this musical". And she smiled to say "I'm happy" when dancing the duet dance with Yuzuka.

The Top Combi also talks about their last duet dance. When Yuzuka asked, "How did you feel about the duet dance. Hoshikaze smiled and replied, "I'm very happy. Walking together while we held each other's hands on the silver bridge was really blissful and I can feel being loved." Yuzuka also said, "I'm also happy. I want to cherish this time", and while they exchange smiles, you could feel how lovely and satisfied they are as a combi.

The performances will be until May 26. There will be livestreams for the performance on 25th and on the 26th which will be "Yuzuka Rei's Last day". There will also be a livestream of the newcomers' performance on April 25.

Hoshikaze says, "Even though we already had our closing performance in the Takarazuka Grand Theatre performance, I wanted to aim higher for the final closing performance".

Yuzuka has an extraordinary repotoire of dancing and singing, and Yuzuka said this towards her last performance, "in the story Marcel has gratitude to the audience for coing to the theatre, and that sentiment overlaps with mine. Marcel, Yuzuka Rei and myself of my own name are all drawn to the songs of the musical. Now when I see the audience, many memories come back to me when I sing to the audience. This time, I hope to convey the same kind of sentiments to the audience."

Yuzuka had her debut stage in 2009. Her dance and glamorous presence had captivated the attention of many from early on and became the Top Star in 2020. She has been the Flower Troupe Top Combi with Hoshikaze for almost three years. On the other hand, Hoshikaze had her debut stage in 2014. She became the Top Musumeyaku in 2017, and upon transfer to Senka, she later became the Flower Troupe Top Musumeyaku and became the partner of Yuzuka.

The performances will be until May 26.

Takarazuka Revue Star Troupe Top Musumeyaku Maisora Hitomi Retirement Press Conference “I am overwhelmed with sentiments”

Takarazuka Revue Star Troupe Top Musumeyaku Maisora Hitomi has decided to retire in December 2024, and she had her press conference in the Takarazuka Grand Theatre “Espree Hall” on the 8th. In a white dress, Maisora says, “to everyone whom I have met, taught me, guided me, raised me up, and to all the fans so far, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I will continue to evolve every day as a Takarazuka musumeyaku before the last day comes and want to do my best.”

Maisora entered the Revue, ranking first of the 102th class in 2016. After assigned to Flower Troupe, she was known for her loveable appearnace and sharp dancing. In April 2019, she was transferred to Star Troupe and in the same year in October, with Rei Makoto as her partner, she became the Top Musumeyaku. She was the heroine for many overseas musical (adaptations), such as “Romeo and Juliette” “1789 – Lovers of the Bastille”. Together with Rei-san, they are the Top Combi of the firsts. (*Rei Makoto was ranked first of the 95th class.)

She decided her retirement after the closing performance of “ME AND MY GIRL”, in which she admired, and she played the heroine Sally in the performance. “I decided to retire on this 110th anniversary, a turning point in which I feel so content and fulfilled in my heart.” She told this news to Rei-san in the rehearsals for the previous Grand Theatre performance, and (REi Makoto has said), “If that is what Naco-chan (Maisora) has decided, I will suport her fully.”

Her memorable performances were three, including her first role without changes in Flower Troupe’s performance “Hanna’s Florist”, “Romeo and Juliette” to which she described, “how I instantly felt that I was welcoming a new ‘door’ of myself”, “Valencian Passion” to which she played the heroine in Shibata Yukihiro’s play, a director whom she admired.

In the conference, she wore the necklace Rei-san gifted her. “Rei-san said these encouraging words, ‘Even if you can’t do it, that’s fine. As long as you enjoy yourself the fullest on stage’. Such words gave me the motivation to continue moving forward,” she smiled and recalled.

Her retirement performance will be “Hit Me Anyone One More Time -Top Secret- / Tiara Azul -Destino-” which will be performing in the Takarazuka Grand Theatre on August 17~September 22. And after the Tokyo Takarazuka theatre performances on October 19-December 1, she will be retiring (from Takarazuka Revue) after the closing performance.

Yuzuka came down the grand staircase in the formal otokoyaku costume which is the black tails, and said, "In these 15 years, I just kept on running. It was a journey that I devoted all of my youth to."

As Cosmos Troupe Top Musumeyaku, she partnered with Makaze Suzuho and later transferred to Flower Troupe to be with Yuzuka as the Golden Combi. She delivered the following speech,

"10 years ago in this place, my life as a stage performer started here. Makaze-san and Cosmos Troupe members taught me the foundations from the very beginning. And later, meeting with Yuzuka-san is my most cherished treasure. Whenever the time, she'd never let go of my hand, and she always shines so brightly. I am full of gratitude. I am so happy to graduate together with Yuzuka-san." Later when the two appear on stage again, she shouted, "I love Yuzuka-san and also everyone!"

Another popular star is Hozumi Mahiro who is also graduating. She said, "I believe that as long as Takarazuka continues, this will be a place where I can return to my roots."

The Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre performances are from April 14-May 26.

Along with the two who are graduating, Hozumi Mahiro will also be saying goodbye to the home base.

Hozumi walked down the grand staircase for the last time in her green hakama and delivered the following speech,

"I love the stage of the Takarazuka Grand Theatre. Whenever the time, I wanted to work hard because of this place. In these 11 years of time, I have faced myself. I have had mamny experiences. I wanted to be stronger. Even when I was feeling discouraged as a lowerclassman, I reminded myself I wanted to be a better self.

I wanted to make my family smile, so I entered into this world. But when I realise it, I have wanted to cherish many others around me and make more people smile more. It is of course sad to say goodbye to my favourite Grand Theatre, but I believe that as long as Takarazuka continues, this will be a place where I can return to my roots and I could walk more strongly in my future life." Hozumi entered the revue in 2013. She became an active star upon doing her newcomers' lead performance for "CASANOVA" in 2019."

Takarazuka Revue Flower Troupe Top Star Yuzuka Rei performed with her partner Hoshikaze Madoka on the closing performance of their graduation performance "Arc en ciel~The Rainbow Over Paris" on 24 March, saying goodbye to their many fans at the home base.

Yuzuka is from the 95th class as she debuted in the 2009 debut stage. She was assigned to Flower Troupe, and after being prominent in charm, she became the Top Star in 2019. She was popular for her glamorous stage presence, her technique and dance performance in revues.

Hoshikaze is from the 100th class as she debuted in the 2014 debut stage. After being the Top Musumeyaku since 2017, she later transferred to Senka and in 2021, she became the Top Combi with Yuzuka.

The sayonara show began with one of her representative performances "Haikara-san ga Tooru" singing "Taisho Romance Love Song", performing elegant duet dance from “TOP HAT” with Hoshikaze. Lastly, the Flower Troupe members all perform on stage and concludes the sayonara show.
