Got led down a neat little rabbithole by this post by @zelenchai which not only has a glorious picture of Selkie Pete, but also got me thinking about fics that show Pete's 'monstrous' side (while Vegas is human). These are the ones I know, what am I missing out on?
When I am far frae ev'ry strand by @kissporsche Pete as selkie, ~5k, Explicit, no archive warnings, just so very, very pretty
You are hungry now Pete as vampire, ~18k, explicit, Author choose not to use archive warnings, too deep in my vampire obsession to say anything else about it
Error in the code by @blackwatervial Pete as cyborg, ~200k, mature, no archive warnings, got late to the party which meant I could binge this - which I have done in nearly inhuman speed
I'll try to add to this, but if you have any recs, please send them my way.

I'm putting everything under a read more because it's a lot lmao
So, we have 2 Major arcana cards here (I’ll talk a bit more about them when I post my Porsche cards but what you need to know is that the Major arcana represent certain archetypes and are generally related to important life events while the Minor arcana represent different aspects of our daily lives). The reason I chose them is because in a tarot reading the Major arcana can indicate a big change in your life after which things (and you yourself) will never be the same again - just like the events from ep. 11 changed both VP as individuals and the nature of their relationship.
The Hanged man keywords – sacrifice, renewal/rebirth, change of perspective
First off, we have the Hanged man – in the Rider-Waite deck he’s a young man with a halo who has one of his ancles bound and is hanging upside down. The card represents a voluntary sacrifice for a greater cause – the man in the picture can simply bend upwards and untie himself but he chooses not to and continues to be suspended in this state (between heaven and earth/life and death) because he has a certain goal. I think this is the card that fits Pete’s character best – he risks his life on the daily as a Main family bodyguard, he risks his life to prove Porsche’s innocence and finally he sacrifices his freedom (and his old self) to stay with Vegas. And what is the goal in his case? I think he gives us the answer in the post-credit scene in ep. 14 – “I just want to follow my heart”. Pete isn’t after some grand prize and he doesn’t do things to feel morally superior – I think he just feels satisfied when he does what he feels is right (also me and a friend of mine talked about how it’s obvious that Pete was raised by his grandma as he demonstrates this need(?) to look after people and make sure they’re ok (even if it’s at his expense) and it seems to come naturally to him AND he isn’t looking for anything in return (or this just might be the Eastern European experience idk please correct me if I’m wrong!)).
As you can see from the keywords I listed above, the Hanged man can also indicate a change of perspective and the renewal of something in your life (or yourself). When reading tarot, it’s important to have at least some basic knowledge about topics such as religion, astrology and numerology but sometimes all you need is to look at the images on the cards to get the answers you’re seeking. In this case, the man on the card is hanging upside down – this can indicate that the situation you’re dealing with need to be examined from a different angle. In Pete’s case he’s literally lying on Vegas’ bed upside down while Vegas patches him up and that act of kindness (if you can call it that as it was quite selfish on Vegas’ part), backed by his knowledge of Gun’s abuse, is what leads to Pete’s changed attitude towards Vegas and the decision to sacrifice his freedom to comfort him in the next ep. (take a shot every time I say the word sacrifice lmao). Also, the conversation they end up having ultimately changes Vegas’ perspective on his father’s behavior (but I’ll talk more about this when I get to the Tower). And the renewal part? It comes from this change of perspective, once your attitude towards a certain thing/situation has changed, you can’t go back to the way things were before. Pete now has sympathy for Vegas and that’s reflected in the way he treats him. He’s no longer completely loyal to the Main family. Even when he goes back, we see that he can’t just smile and pretend to be his old self. Seeing Vegas in a new light ultimately changes him as a person.
Lastly, the card can indicate a much-needed period of stillness in order for you to clear your head or recover from an illness. And Pete literally almost died and is recovering from his wounds. The poor guy really needs some peace and quiet. And good food.
The Tower keywords -sudden change, destruction, endings
The Tower is another one of those cards I think everyone knows about – the image of the tower being struck by lightning while 2 people are sent flying is quite popular. Just like the 3 of swords, the Tower is one of the most negative cards you can get in your spread as it indicates the complete destruction of something in your life. It’s also one of my favorite cards. Yes, the change the Tower brings feels sudden and pretty much as if the world (as you know it) is ending. But that change is something that was very much needed, there was a problem you knew existed and yet you chose to ignore for some reason and, at the end, things ended up falling apart on their own. You got your warning with the Death card (no. 13) which indicates that there’s something in your life that needs to be changed (or “die”) in order for you to thrive; the change the Death card brings is slow – it gives you plenty of time to notice what isn’t working anymore and to give it up or change it for the better. But if you choose to ignore it and try to maintain things as they are – here’s where the Tower (no. 16) comes and uh takes the trash out for you. This is why the Tower can feel like a blessing in disguise – yes, the ending was painful, yes, there was something you clung to for as long as you could because you were scared or emotionally attached to it and ended up losing it after all, but ultimately you get a blank slate, a new beginning. Everything that was preventing you from living life to the fullest is now gone and you’re free. In my experience the Tower always comes up in relation to some major life event (because sometimes some major arcana will pop up in your everyday reading to remind you to stop procrastinating and submit that application or as a representation of your overbearing boss) and that’s why I decided it was fitting for the pill kiss. And why do I consider something seemingly as silly as the pill kiss an important life event? Because it changed everything (for the better!) for both of them and they were never the same after that. For VP the Tower manifested as the end of an old way of thinking which caused a chain reaction and led to the post-credit scene and their new beginning. In Pete’s case Vegas’ actions were so shocking that they made him reconsider the way he viewed Vegas AND also the way he viewed himself which led to him abandoning his old repressed self and accepting the fact that he’s a person with desires. We can see that Pete pre-safehouse and Pete post-safehouse are two completely different people. In Vegas’ case up until that point he viewed himself as a failure deserving of his father’s abuse. He probably didn’t think too much of the pill kiss, right? It was just a means to an end, make Pete take his medicine and prove to him he means no harm (for now). But the short conversation they had afterwards was what changed everything for him. Judging from his startled expression, Vegas had never thought about his father’s motives before. At this point his whole worldview started to crack – enough that he stood up to his father in the next episode. Even though that didn’t end up well for him, the doubts were still there (also, we all know a change of this magnitude is not easy to accept and even a regular person would’ve struggled a lot when faced with the reality of parental abuse). The cracks that appeared in ep. 11 are what will help him recover post-canon and live a healthy life (whatever that looks like for VP). To sum things up, in both cases their ways of thinking led to them putting up with the shitty way people treated them. We can say that they were both trapped in their own little towers until the metaphorical lightning strike set them both crashing down and setting them free.

The devil keywords – temptation, corruption, your shadow self
The devil is one of the 22 Major arcana cards. The one in the Rider-Waite deck has an image of the devil sitting on a throne with a man and a woman chained at his feet. It looks like a dark version of the lovers (and the two are connected thematically and numerologically since the lovers is card no.6 and the devil no.15 – 1+5=6). To put it simply, the devil represents the obsessive pursuit of material goods/physical pleasure which, in the end, leads to the corruption of your spirit. It’s associated with the sign of Capricorn whose dark side can manifest as an obsession with money, social status and power (also fun fact - according to the novel Vegas’ birthday is December 31st which makes him a Capricorn sun according to western astrology). So, what does any of this have to do with the lovers and VP? The devil is also associated with dark sexuality and everything taboo. Also, as I mentioned above, it represents your shadow self aka everything you feel ashamed of and try your best to repress. In VP’s case on one hand, we have Vegas who uses his sexuality as a weapon, is interested in BDSM and enjoys torturing people. On the other hand, we have Pete, probably the most repressed character on the show, who suddenly has to come to terms with the fact that he is a person with desires and that those desires are pretty dark and unconventional. And all of this happens while he’s being held captive by Vegas in the safe house sex dungeon. Vegas, who tortured him almost to death and is now trying to seduce him with his little monologue and a lot of chin grabbing. Do you see where I’m going with this one? We can interpret Vegas as the devil figure from the card – he’s the one trying to make Pete take off the mask he wears around everyone else and stop hiding his dark side. Vegas has seen glimpses of Pete’s true self after all – first in ep. 7 and later in ep. 10 and 11, and is fascinated by it. He wants to see more of it and uses one of his preferred methods – sex, to achieve his goal (and probably starts to regret that decision after he sees Pete’s smile in ep.12 – is Pete truly someone he can handle? But that’s a discussion for another time.) Pete is one of the chained figures and he’s there because he chose so himself by forsaking his personhood and letting himself be seen as nothing more than a weapon by the main family, someone who fades into the background the moment he isn’t needed (is he real if no one can see him?). If you look carefully at the Rider-Waite card you can see that the chains are loose enough that the two figures can free themselves at any time if they wish so. Vegas is trying to make Pete do just that – drop the act and live his life as his authentic self, without shame. He’s also trying to set Pete free so he can put a chain on him himself. And we all saw how that plan backfired on him.
There's also another reason I chose this scene – when the devil shows up in a love reading (surrounded by positive cards) it can mean that the people involved have amazing sexual chemistry. And there are literally chained people drawn on the card. And we all know what happened 30 seconds later in the episode.
*I decided to retouch my old devil card a little to fit my new template instead of drawing a new one :))
