I was a member of RozyClozy's and before my membership cancelled I saw the sneak peak of the Lia redesign. And all I'm gonna say is it's fueling my Dria will be cannon delusions for such a practically nonsense reason.
Before people accuse me of leaking or "spoiling" or whatever, this is so vague (on purpose) and gives nothing away so pretty please don't harass me.

I feel like I do a bad job explaining what I mean when I say I think Liam is the Mom friend of the Dromies. Because I don't mean that I think he's wise beyond his years or that he's super responsible. But I do think that he'd have a bunch of Mom-like tendencies.
He'll be the one saying shit like "What's the magic word?" in order to get Drew to actually say please and thank you, or sternly asking "Did you wash your hands?" before giving Henry any food (this is justified; Henry usually has not washed his hands). He'll always remember to bring sunscreen, bug spray, etc. everywhere because he knows the other two are never going to remember to bring it but will be extremely annoying and complain about bug bites or sunburns afterwards.
I think of it like this: Drew is smart academically, and Henry is smart via knowing a bunch of random shit that sounds useless but can be very helpful in a surprising number of scenarios. But both have a complete lack of any common sense or awareness of other people, which Liam, luckily, provides. Otherwise, the other two would probably be dead by now. He doesn't have the emotional intelligence of an adult, or very much social prowess. But he'll always be looking out for their well-being, he'll listen to them whenever they need to vent about something, he'll remember the randomest details about them that they only told him once, like their favorite candy or their drink orders. He's just caring and attentive in a way I can't quite describe without using the term "Mom friend", even if that's not exactly what I mean.

Kind of sucks that Sean is the only member of the music club who's backstory/context is just briefly mentioned and never shown on screen. Like even with Luke we still see him as a kid, even if it's tied to Zander. It's just. Hmmm.

I was gonna make this an anonymous confession on @tmf-confessions but decided to be brave and actually post it here, so here goes nothing.
I've seen a lot of people suggest that, outside of his own insecurities and inner turmoil, there "must be a reason Drew bullies the club." Or that "The club had to have done something to cause Drew to start bullying them."
And no hate to anyone who has made this take, but every time I see this I facepalm. Because no.
Now, I'm the first person to come and argue in defense of Drew as a character. I love him dearly and consider him one of the best-written characters in the series. He has that full package that I just eat up in a character every time. The good writing, the parallels to multiple cast members, and he's angsty as hell.
But, despite my deep love for this character, I still can acknowledge that him bullying the club, is wrong. It's a bad thing to do. But I find a lot of Drew stans cannot admit that. That's a whole other conversation though.
The point is, I notice a lot of people across the tmf community search for a reason to justify Drew's bullying. And I just find that wrong.
For one, on a writing perspective, it really diminishes his character. A part of why he's so fascinating is because he's flawed. And it's not something small that people find annoying, it's a big thing that makes people think about morality and all that. He's doing something that so many viewers have experienced ourselves, have been impacted by. Something that everyone of us can see is reprehensible and morally wrong. Whether you love him or not, that's a basic thing we should be able to agree on.
So to have something have happened? Write in that the club had done something that caused Drew to bully them? That's taking away that flaw, and almost like justifying it. Saying it wasn't so bad because the club "deserved it."
And that leads me to point number two.
A lot of people point out that Drew listens to music. Constantly has airpods in. "So there has to be a reason, because it's not simply due to them liking music because he does too."
And... yes but no.
It isn't because they like music, but it isn't not? Truly the reason Drew is a bully is because of his own inner conflict with himself. Hailey was spot on when calling him insecure because that's exactly what it is. He was just able to hone in on the Club because they liked making music. Because it was a hobby that in that universe is considered weird or odd.
Basically, them being musicians just made them easy targets for Drew to project onto. So it is and isn't the reason he bullies them.
The problem with suggesting anything otherwise, is that it pushes a narrative. A narrative that you did something to warrant or deserve the bullying. It would spin things to make Drew look better and the club look like the assholes who deserved the years of mistreatment.
Which isn't true! I don't even like the club that much, but they did not deserve the bullying. They were pretty much minding their own business when Drew started being a prick.
And that is how it is with bullies in real life! You usually didn't do anything to provoke a bully. They just are miserable and insecure people projecting onto easy targets.
And there are obviously outliers. But this is not one of those cases. Drew's an asshole and bullied the club of his own fruition and reason. Not because they "did something first."
This doesn't mean you can't like him or enjoy his character. He's written in a way where you're supposed to despite his flaws. But it get's annoying when people try to justify and erase the bad things he's done for those reasons.

In various pieces of TMF content, we've been given small glimpses into Droey (Drew and Zoey), how their relationship works.
And there are two major pieces I want to talk about a bit. The following pictures:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think these two phots really give context for their relationship. And help us understand how it has developed.
In the first photo, its obvious these two are deep in love. Zoey us actually laughing, and even has blush on her face. Drew has his arm wrapped around her. And, the most important thing, he's looking at her. He doesn't care about how the photo might come out, how he might look in it. He's only looking at her. Because in that moment she is the only thing that matters. And Zoey doesn't care either, she is laughing and having a good time with the boy she loves.
This shows that at one point they did love each other. They cared very deeply for one another at one point. Their body language makes that clear. They are conformable and in love. They only care about one another in the moment. The photo is a pure, unedited, showcase of their love for each other at that time.
In the second photo, however, things are different.
In the other photo, Zoey's just smiling. Sticking her tongue out, yes, but that's it. No blush. No laughing. Drew isn't holding her, but instead just her hand. He has less physical intimacy with her in this one. He also isn't looking at her, but the camera. Even the use of filters shows us, that this photo is purely meant for public display. Its been altered to look good for others. Because at this point, that's all their relationship is too each other. A thing of status, to show off to people.
The first photo is unaltered, the second one has filters. The first is how their relationship started, pure and full of love. The second is showing us how they view each other as more of a way to seem more popular, and cool.
This is even represented in where the photos are kept. Zoey keeps the first one in her home. Just for her. where as the second one is in her school locker. For everyone passing by to see.
And they still love each other. I think that they are holding hands represents how they still have something with each other. Its just become this edited thing for appearances. Less about their love.
I think these small details are genius on Rosy's part. She gave us more subtle development of their relationship. Showed us that at one point they loved each other, but along the way their relationship became edited and warped.

I'm not some people understand how important it is to her character that Lia actually did have a crush on Jake. Like she was a little in love with him.
Because the point is that the two of them are alike, parallel each other heavily. And she clocks that immediately. She knows what he's gone through, and knows it's like what she did.
And because of that she falls for him a bit. The one person in the world that understands why she did what she did. Why she became a Jerk just to please others. Because he did it too.
She crushes initially because of that. But it's also why she realizes that her crush was more surface level. That their entire relationship is surface level. Because she thinks she knows him, and never bothered to actually get to know him. And that maybe, if she'd not allowed her initial crush to be the center of their dynamic, they could've grown closer. That she should've prioritized being friends, first.
Like she does care about Jake. Her idea of Jake. And, who he actually is. It's important to me that people know that.

I love how the jomies are (I assume) meant to represent a strained and dishonest friend group with a bunch of lying covering up the reality of the toxicity invoked in the friend groups dynamic, and the music club is meant to represent an honest friend group that could even be considered a family and a unity between similar people who've went through similiar struggled and have banded together to be honest and truthful about who they are
And while that's all true, I've noticed some people the the opposite impressions
Some noting that the jomies feel like an actual of genuine friend group, while the music club feels more strained, or like a friendship of convenience. (I definitely remember that being a confession like 2ish years ago on here)
I'm not sure if I'd agree with such a claim myself, or if I would know anything regarding the subject either, as Im not in a friend group myself and only have 1 friend that I really know, so I'm not sure as to how it all really functions, so I don't think think I really have a say in this all, but it's interesting to note some of the fandoms reaction? Idk
I of course am not saying the music club has to be written with all perfect cookie cutter (is that the right term) bonds with no flaws but, for example, take Milly n Zander? U could say it's all just friendly teasing between the two of them, but I don't think either has ever actually had a positive interaction with the other, some might get the impression that they actually just genuinely dislike each other.. Zander in particular doesn't have notable friendships w sean or Milly. (And is only slowly warming up to Jake but that's a different thing)
While the jomies, for all their imperfections, might simply give the impression to the audience that a lot of it feels like they genuinely care Abt each other? IDKIDKDIKDIDK that's just what I've heard others say, idk how *I* actually feel about it but again I think it's interesting to note
IFK IM BULLSHITTING IM GONNA REGRET TYPING ABY OF THIS OUT aFTERWARDS ARENT I

What if part of the reason Lia got so attached to Jake, is because he reminded her of Hailey, and she couldn't be friends with Hailey so she latched on to Jake instead?

It's thinking about Drake and Halia parallels time. Because they literally consume my entire thoughts.
They're both a singer x person who they used to be friends with turned bully ship. Accept Drew was always a bully, and is now just also bullying Jake.
Also breaking down parallels between each individual character in this foursome.
Hailey and Jake
Both were singers who were bullied for their passion. Both are terrible at communication (though Hailey is much better at it than Jake). And then they foil each other becasue while Hailey stayed stedfast in her beliefs and didn't let the bullying change her, Jake did. He choose to become a bully to be accepted and to make the bullying stop. A survival tactic.
Which brings me to the next parallels:
Jake and Lia
Both characters were people who were bullied and then changed themselves as a result. They weren't able to stay true to themseleves and their passions. They wanted to be accepted, adn wanted the bullying to stop. So they did just about anything to make it stop. Lia and Drew
They have the most parallels lowkey in my opinion.
Both had friends who they really cared about (beyond platonic feelings, I'd argue), but ended up betraying in the end. Both characters were Jealous of the Music Club and how clsoe Jake was to them + missed Jake hanging out with them all the time and hurt him as a result. Lia with the leaking of the audio to the club and Drew during the whole Drake up debacle. Both deal with Zoey, and have a relationship with her in some capacity. And Both ended up leaving her because of her actions. Drew and Jake
Both have terrible communication skills. Obviously. But they way they're bad at communication is the same too. They both don't speak up about how they're feeling. With Drew I just think he's emotionally constipated. And wouldn't know how to express his feelings if his life depended on it. And with Jake I think he's just used to hiding himself for group acceptance. So it's partly people pleasing, and partly force of habit. But by hiding how they're feeling and not talking about it, they both let those feelings simmer. And eventually they get angrier and angrier at each other, over things the other had no idea about, and explode. Ta da! Drakeup.
Drew and Hailey
Both are stubborn, and surprisingly "Loyal." Like say what you will about Drew (There's a lot too say) but he cares about his friends.
They both are also wildly insecure. Obviously with Hailey we see that presented in her stage fright as a result of years of bullying. And while we don't have a reason for Drew yet, it's obvious he is insecure. Hailey clocked it so fast.
Also their own anger issues (not issues, but they're both hot heads). We don't see that in Hailey's characterization as much in later episodes, but in the early days she's a loveable hot head. Drew is a (not so loveable) hot head to. We see that when he snaps at everyone throughout the series, and also during his and Jake's fight. Lia and Hailey
Both Hailey and Lia were bullied. But while Lia decided to change herself to be more liked and to stop the bullying, Hailey remained how she was in spite of it. Halia is honestly just basically Sapphic Jailey. I will NOT take criticisms. All four of them parallel each other a lot. And that's what makes every possible dynamic in this foursome so appealing and interesting. They play off of each other really well, and the writing potential is INSANE.
