im creating a subgenre of dark academia called grey academia. less classism and less subtle racism. less drugs and alcohol. less wildly expensive colleges and clothes. still with the biting chill of the autumn wind. instead of tweed and carefully pressed suits it’s denim jackets, flannel, and combat boots. everyone carries sketchbooks where they can draw in their long droning classes or write down quick notes or ramble about their feelings. everyone fights to make academia more accessible to the masses. everything is vaguely punk rock and no one dies

1st day of my last semester in St Andrews. I don't actually have any lectures until Thursday and Friday but I have plenty of diss work to be getting on with. I'm feeling very at peace this morning, maybe it's that the sunrise was beautiful, maybe it's that I can see the days getting longer and can already feel my spirit lifting, who knows.

This is a very rare and valuable specimen indeed. The Wyoming toad [Anaxyrus baxteri] is an endangered species living only within Morteson lake National Wildlife Refuge in Wyoming, as well as in captivity. A captive breeding program started in 1995 has produced nearly 46,000 offspring as of 2006, most of which have been reintroduced into the wild. Image source here.

me and my boyfriend went to gamla uppsala högar together earlier this week! it was so cool to see them in real life, especially since theyre mentioned a lot in our course lit. i also infodumped abt the nordic iron age during the whole visit but thats another story

For this Christmas season I would like to have the ability to focus on reading books again

Yeah I know, other study spaces here do have plugs and to be fair we were warned about this one, it's very new and inside a tent.

Last week I tried out this new study space in St. Andrews.

7/10 : no plugs and the radiators are a bit noisy, otherwise nice calm environment. Bonus point because of cool rain sound 🌧️
