really feel like we're missing out on such an interesting dynamic when we only talk about them through the perspective of jayce.

I genuinely feel like there's a setup here for their characters and chemistry (platonically or romantically) to be explored... enemies to friends/lovers as they go from their respective positions within piltover to gaining powers beyond human ability

their isolation within their communities becomes isolation from humanity itself, making it easier for them to find solace in each other as they come to the realization that they have more in common than they think... guys its really the perfect setup

Maybe this is the tail end of my insomnia spiral speaking but I keep seeing all these meljayvik posts and esp ones that compare / contrast Mel & Viktor (eg the sun/moon ones) and I wanted to ask if anyone’s actually tried giving melvik a fair shake? Like without Jayce?

I wouldn’t say it’s a ship that’s particularly up my alley or anything but I think they both have a lot of interesting parallels and thematic elements that could be interesting to explore in some sort of AU. They’re both outsiders to Piltover: Viktor is from the Undercity, Mel is from Noxus. Neither are respected on their own merits by their higher ups, they’re both focused on innovation and progress, their stories both revolve around them coming into their powers.

Idk, I just think it could be interesting. I know you could also explore these ideas platonically, but romance offers a mechanically different (not better; different) lens to look at something through and I’m not sure anyone’s done that with these two without heavily emphasizing Jayce’s role, to my knowledge. Anyone have any thoughts?
