Lovesickness
It was a bright, peaceful afternoon for the Strawhats. Each member enjoyed their usual activities while the captain looked out to sea atop the ship's figurehead.
You watched him from where you sat with Nico Robin as she read, holding Chopper in your lap.
Even from this angle, the captain was beautiful. His dark hair blew in the breeze as he sat, rocking side to side in contentment. You didn’t have to see it to know that he had his signature joyful smile painted all over his face.
Just imagining it made your heart flutter.
“Ugh, this is so frustrating.” You sighed, running your hands through your hair.
Nico Robin looked up from the book she was reading.”What is?”
“Luffy.” You replied.
“What about him?”
“I’ve been flirting with him for months, and he still doesn’t get it!” You exclaimed, “Not even Nami’s tips are working.”
“Luffy’s an idiot.” Chopper chimed in, still focused on the chocolate bar he was snacking on, “He’ll notice eventually.”
“Maybe it’s already working.” Robin offered, “He’s been quite touchy with you recently.”
“He’s touchy with everyone.” You deadpanned, “It’s Luffy.”
“I think that’s just your self-doubt talking.” She said, closing her book in her lap. “You don’t see what we do.”
Chopper nodded in agreement. “Robin’s right! Remember yesterday when I showed you my medical drawing, and he appeared out of nowhere just to hug you?”
You felt your cheeks begin to burn at the memory. Luffy had done similar things in the past, from randomly bringing you snacks to share to casually swinging his arm around your shoulder or linking your arm with his while walking.
“And,” Chopper continued, taking another bite of his chocolate bar, “When you asked him why, he said he ‘just felt like it’ and left?”
You cast a doubtful look at Robin, “He doesn’t do that to either of you?”
They both shook their heads.
“You know there’s only one way to find out…” Robin said with a smile, “Just tell him how you feel.”
Your eyes widened, “No! I can’t do that! What if he doesn’t feel the same way? What if he doesn’t want me on the ship anymore?”
Robin chuckled. “Luffy wouldn’t kick you out. If he doesn’t feel the same, he’ll probably assume you’re confessing platonic love.”
You buried your face in your hands, “That’s even worse.”
“Well, you won’t know until you try.” Robin shrugged, opening her book and leaning back in her chair to continue reading.
You considered her words for a moment. She was right. You wouldn’t truly know how Luffy felt unless you said something to him.
“I’ll think about it.” You sighed.
Chopper shifted from your lap onto Robin’s as you stood, “I’m gonna ask Sanji for a snack.” You said before dismissing yourself.
You didn’t really need a snack, just a moment to yourself.
Robin’s words echoed through your mind as you made your way to your room.
How on earth am I supposed to tell him? You thought anxiously.
How would he react?
Would things change between us if my feelings aren't reciprocated?
Suddenly, a solid object in your path knocked you out of your thoughts. Startled, you looked up to see the beaming eyes of your captain looking back at you.
“Woah, watch where you’re going.” Luffy laughed, “What’re you thinking so hard about?”
Your heart rate picked up, “Uhm- nothing important.” You stammered.
Tell him now. Your mind screamed. Just get it over with.
“Are you okay? You look…Upset.” He asked with a concerned look, reaching out to take your arm.
You froze. The words were on the tip of your tongue, but you couldn’t speak.
Luffy waited for a response, his worried eyes focused on you.
You looked away and stepped around him. “It’s nothing, I’m fine.” You said quietly, walking away before he could interrogate you further.
Luffy’s eyes remained on your back as you departed. He’d been happy to see you; he hadn’t spoken to you all day, and it was killing him.
Is she mad at me or something? His heart grew heavy at the thought.
Once you were out of sight, Luffy placed his hand over his chest, reacting to the unfamiliar feeling. Usually, his heart felt lighter when you were around.
“What is going on with me? Am I sick or something?” He said quietly to himself.
The captain decided he’d talk to Chopper, just to be safe, and continued in the direction you’d come from to find Chopper and Robin in the same place you’d just left them.
Chopper waved as Luffy approached and opened his mouth to greet him.
“Chopper, I think I’m sick or something.” Luffy explained before the doctor could speak, “Is there a sickness that only affects you when you’re around a certain person?”
“You mean…You think someone got you sick?” Chopper asked, confused, “What are your symptoms?”
Luffy thought for a moment before responding, “No. It’s more like…When she smiles at me, my heart starts beating weird.” He started, his ears turning a light shade of pink. “When I touch her, warmth spreads around my body like I have a fever.” He clutched his chest, still aching from seeing the conflicted look in your eyes when he'd run into you moments ago. “When she’s hurt or upset, my chest starts feeling heavy.”
“She?” Robin asked, putting her book down with a smile and shooting a knowing look at Chopper.
“Y-yeah?” Luffy replied, a blush spreading across his cheeks, “See? Just thinking about her makes me feel fuzzy.”
Robin laughed. “That’s what we call lovesickness.”
“Lovesickness…” Luffy repeated, tilting his head in confusion. His eyes darted to Chopper, “Is there a cure?”
“It’s not a real sickness that has a cure, Luffy,” Chopper grinned, “All the symptoms you’ve described tell me that you’re in love.”
Luffy’s eyes widened as it clicked in his mind. For the past month and a half, he’d spent countless hours trying to rationalize the way you made him feel but he'd just been harboring feelings for you the whole time. He felt like an idiot for not realizing it sooner.
“So this is what a crush feels like?” Luffy asked, more as a note to himself rather than a question he needed an answer to.
A wave of determination washed over him. He had to share this with you. Now that he knew what the feeling was, what it meant, he couldn’t keep it from you.
“How do I tell her? Do you think she feels the same about me?” He asked his two crewmates.
“Pick a time and a place, then tell her you want to talk to her.” Robin advised, “Then just speak from your heart.”
“Oooh! Then kiss her!” Chopper added with a nod, “That’s important.”
“Kiss her?” Luffy pondered, “But wouldn’t that be awkward if she doesn’t-"
“Don’t overthink it, Luffy. Trust us.” Chopper giggled excitedly.
Luffy turned to Robin inquisitively. She nodded in agreement.
The captain grinned. “All right. I’m gonna do it! Thanks, guys!”
“Any time.” Robin chuckled.
---
You spent the rest of the day in your room, avoiding Luffy. Completely overthinking the way you’d practically run away from him earlier.
A knock sounded at your door. “Mon amour,” Sanji’s voice said through the wood, dripping with its usual devotion, “dinner will be ready in ten. I made one of your favorites!”
“Okay, thanks, Sanji. I’ll be down in a bit,” You called, beginning to prepare yourself to leave the safety of your room.
“Also, Luffy’s looking for you.” The cook added with much less enthusiasm.
You froze, your heart pounding in your ears, “Okay” was all you said.
Sanji’s footsteps faded away, leaving you alone once again.
“Fuck it.” You said eventually, tired of wallowing in self-pity. You opened your door and made your way to the top deck.
Suddenly, two arms wrapped around you from behind. “I’ve been looking for you.”
You jumped and spun around to face Luffy, “Jeez, you scared me, Lu!”
He grinned and rubbed the back of his neck, “Sorry, I’ve just been lookin’ for you everywhere. I’ve got somethin’ to tell you.”
“Okay?” You fiddled with the tips of your fingers.
“It’s important.” He looked around, “But not here. Follow me.”
The captain grabbed your hand and began leading you towards the front of the ship.
He stopped just before the ship’s figurehead and turned to you, taking both of your hands in his. “Okay. This is my favorite place on the ship, so I think this is a good spot.” He fidgeted nervously, and his expression turned serious.
“Luffy, what’s going on? Are you okay?”
Luffy took a deep breath, squeezing your hands gently.
Then he brought his lips down onto yours.
Your eyes widened in shock as your body tensed.
Luffy slid his arms around your waist and pulled you closer to him. Warmth radiated through your body, and you relaxed into the kiss, wrapping your arms around his neck.
It was a soft, affectionate kiss. The captain
kept his hands where they were despite wanting to touch elsewhere. He wanted to claim every part of you as his. He'd watched Nami demolish Sanji enough times to be wary of how he touched women.
You pulled away after a moment, needing a moment to process the event.
Luffy tilted his head in confusion. “Did I do something wrong?”
You shook your head. “No, no, that was…” you looked away shyly, “...Good.”
Luffy smiled his wide, goofy smile. “That’s a relief; I thought you were gonna turn me down for a second.”
“Why would I ever do that? You’re the most wonderful man I’ve ever met.”
He tensed, his ears turning a vibrant shade of pink. “I am?”
You nodded.
His smile grew even more comprehensive, “Then you’re the kindest, funniest, and most beautiful woman I’ve met.”
“Luffy! Get your dirty paws off her!” Sanji’s angry voice sounded from the deck below, interrupting the moment you and Luffy were in the middle of. “Dinner’s ready!”
Luffy laughed, ignoring Sanji’s demand to let you go. “Finally! I'm starving!”
“You're always hungry, Luffy.” You chuckled.
“I can't help it! I gotta have enough energy to protect what's mine.” He winked, “Let's go eat!”
Your heart skipped a beat.
You were his.

GN!Reader gets lost for a night. Law isn't very happy when they find their way back to the Polar Tang the next morning....
Content Warnings: mentions of alcohol, angst, a bit suggestive if you look hard enough.
Tumblr media
"I would have torn that town to pieces"
You strolled through the town on your way back to Polar Tang, your head throbbing, an after-effect of the night before. You couldn't remember much after Ikkaku handed you your 6th shot of the night. I thought you remembered dancing with her? Or at least…Dancing with someone? The next thing you knew, you awoke hidden inside a hay wagon with no clue how you got there. You chuckled to yourself and vowed never to drink again…At least for the rest of the week.
As you approached the rocks that served as the hiding place for the yellow submarine, you sighed in relief to see that it was still there. You'd half expected them to have left you there. Law preferred everyone to be present and accounted for on the Tang by nightfall. That said, you were undoubtedly in for a stern talking-to from the Heart Pirates' captain once you boarded.
Weaving your way around the rocky shore, you spotted Bepo standing on the deck of the Tang and waved.
The Bear's paws rushed to his mouth in a gasp, and he scrambled to lower the ramp, "They're back!" He called behind him before rushing towards you, trapping you in a tight, fuzzy hug.
"Bepo…I can't breathe…" You wheezed, squirming to free yourself from his arms.
"Oh!" Bepo gasped, releasing you, "Sorry."
You stepped back, brushing yourself off. Then you noticed the anxious look painted on the Bear's face as he looked you up and down.
"What? Is something wrong?" You asked. Had something happened while you were gone?
"You- are you okay?" The bear questioned, still scanning your body for any sign of harm.
"Yeah? I think so? You're making me nervous, Bepo." You replied with a chuckle.
"You were really drunk last night. I turned my back on you for one second to get you some water and you disappeared! No one saw you leave the tavern. The Captain-" Bepo started to ramble.
Guilt began to creep its way into your consciousness.
"Look who finally showed up." A rough voice resonated from the Tang.
You peered over Bepo's shoulder to see a very pissed-off Trafalgar Law descending the ramp toward you. Shit. You thought. You'd wanted to at least take a nap before facing the captain's wrath.
"My office. Now." He ordered.
Bepo gave you a sympathetic look as you strode past him to follow Law. "I'm glad you're okay."
You nodded with a sheepish smile before following your fuming captain onto his ship and into his office, passing multiple crew members who watched you with relieved looks on their faces.
Law opened the door for you. Once you were inside, he followed and closed the door behind him. He then walked to his desk, still completely silent, his back turned to you. You felt the anxiety start to rise in your chest at the uncomfortable silence.
"Law I'm-" you started to apologize.
"Are you hurt?" He interrupted, clenching and unclenching his inked hands, as though he was trying to release some of his pent-up anger. You'd seen Law angry before, but never this angry.
You were in some serious trouble.
"No. I mean, I have a crazy hangover, but-" you began to explain before he cut you off again.
"Where the hell were you?"
"Well, I woke up in a hay wagon…I think I may have blacked out. Oops."
Law tensed, balling his hands into tight fists. "You're telling me you were wandering around. Alone. After dark. Drunk out of your mind. Are you insane?" His calm demeanor was starting to scare you.
"I didn't mean to wander off…At least I don't think I did? I don't remember much from last night." You chuckled nervously, fidgeting with the tips of your fingers.
He spun around to face you, and the pained expression he wore on his face startled you, somewhere between intense worry and seething anger. You stepped backward, but your back hit the wall, preventing you from putting any more space between you and the furious man in front of you.
"You think this is funny?" Law asked, still maintaining that eerily calm tone, "What if something happened to you? What if someone tried to hurt you or-" he cut off, his voice cracking slightly. He was slowly losing it.
Guilt shot through your body once again and you looked away, beginning to crumble under the pressure of the captain's intense gaze.
"I guess you'd have to patch me up again then, huh, doc?" You joked, rubbing your arm awkwardly in an attempt to ease the tension that engulfed the room.
Law exploded. In seconds, he moved from the center of the room to hover over you. "This isn't a fucking joke." He seethed, his jaw clenched tight.
You squeezed your eyes shut and pressed yourself against the wall as if you could fall through it and escape this situation. You didn't. He was so close you could feel his rapid breathing on your hair.
"I-" you stumbled over your words. Taking a deep breath before continuing, "I didn't think anyone would-"
Law cut you off by slamming his hand into the wall behind you, making you jump. "Fucking look at me, god damn it!"
You winced and opened your eyes, slowly bringing your gaze to meet his. His brows were creased with anger, but the vulnerability in his eyes shot a dagger through your heart.
"You didn't think anyone would what?" he continued after a moment, "That anyone would care? Ikkaku didn't sleep last night. Neither did Bepo. Penguin and Sachi were out until 1AM looking for you, and I-"
He choked.
The doctor's anger softened ever so slightly as he brought his hand up to cup your cheek gently, "I would have torn that town to pieces until I found you if Penguin hadn't-" He paused, taking a deep breath.
Your eyes widened at his words. "Law.." You breathed, "I'm fine- you didn't have to-"
The man cut you off by running his thumb across your lips, his eyes darkened. Your heart pounded as they flickered down to your lips and then back up to meet yours, calculating. Questioning.
He swallowed. "I'm just.." he trailed off. You could feel his shaky breath against your lips. He leaned closer, bringing his face centimeters away from yours, "terrified of losing you.." he finished.
Then his lips brushed against yours hesitantly. As if he was testing you. Making sure this was okay.
You closed your eyes and pushed your lips to his, giving him your approval.
That was all Law needed.
Releasing the breath he was holding, he moved his lips against yours desperately, bringing his other hand to the other side of your face, caging you between his calloused hands.
He tilted his head to the side, deepening the kiss as you melted into him, running your hands up his chest to rest around his neck.
The doctor let out a muffled groaned as one of his tattooed hands wove its way into your hair while the other slid down to your hips, his thumb slipped under the hem of your shirt igniting a fire that spread throughout your whole body.
The captain flinched as if something had shocked him. Hesitating for a moment. You bit down on his lip softly, wanting more. He recovered instantly, pulling your hips against his while his other hand grabbed a fistful of your hair. You felt your knees grow weak beneath you, stumbling as they gave out entirely.
Law caught you, sliding his whole hand underneath your shirt to settle on your back, holding you tight against him as his mouth devoured yours; slowly, full of desire and self-indulgence.
Everything other than him melted away and you moved your hands to rest on his jawline, holding his face, his lips, exactly where they were as you responded with a passion that almost rivaled his.
Eventually, you both remembered you needed to breathe and reluctantly pulled away, your bodies heaving together as you waited for your lungs to catch up.
The reality of what just happened dawned on you in an instant. You'd just kissed the captain. Heat rushed to your face as your widened eyes met Law's. His cheeks were flushed, and his hair was a mess. The sight made your stomach flutter.
He touched his forehead to yours. "Now do you understand?" he asked breathlessly, his inked thumb drawing small circles over your cheek.
"I think so.." You gave him a nervous smile. "Are you still angry with me?"
"Yes. But I'll get over it." He sighed. "Just don't ever disappear like that again."

Fem!Reader is under the control of an unknown force. Zoro cannot bring himself to take her down.
Content Warnings: violence and a bit of angst (with comfort 🙂‍↕️)
Tumblr media
"Who are you?"
After 20 minutes of belligerent fighting, Zoro finally dealt the finishing blow to his opponent, who crumpled to the ground with a thud. Sheathing his swords, he began scanning the battlefield for you, who had been fighting by his side until moments ago before another enemy pulled you away.
When his gaze reached you, you were doubled over on the ground, clutching your head as if you were suffering immense pain. The swordsman rushed towards you. Despite the chaos around him, the only thing he saw was you.
Then your body went limp, your hands falling to your lap. Zoro paused as you stood, arms swinging by your sides, clutching your swords.
You turned to face him. Relief rushed through his body as he saw that you were alive... but something was off. You weren't looking at him the same way you usually did, with bright eyes and a big smile. In fact, you weren't looking at him at all; your gaze was focused on the ground beneath his feet.
"Oi, you okay?" Zoro called as he continued his approach cautiously. He watched carefully as you moved into an offensive stance, drawing your swords as if you were about to attack him.
Your darkened eyes slid up to his, and your mouth twisted into a manic smile. "Roronoa Zoro..." You chuckled. Your serious tone and unfamiliar expression caught the swordsman off guard.
"Hey... That's not funny. Quit playing around." Zoro reached out to take your arm.
Then you attacked. Slashing at him first with your left sword, then your right. Zoro jumped away, barely dodging your blades.
"What the hell?" He shouted, "What was that for?"
You chuckled ominously in response before running towards him to attack again.
"I'm going to kill you, Pirate Hunter," you declared.
Zoro sidestepped your third strike. He didn't know what was happening, but this wasn't like you at all. Your attacks were clumsy and reckless. This wasn't how he taught you to wield your swords.
"What's with you?" he grunted as he drew his swords to block your assault. "Snap out of it."
You laughed, "Only on the defense? C'mon, have a bit of fun!"
Zoro's brain ran through a thousand reasons why you could be acting like this, each idea more confusing than the last.
"I'd love to spar later, Princess." he grunted, "but I really need you to tell me what the fuck is going on."
You swung both swords down with all your might as your laughter turned into a crazed giggle, "I knew it! You won't hurt this body. None of you silly Straw Hats will."
A shiver ran down Zoro's spine as your swords clashed against his. This wasn't you. This wasn't the girl he'd spent hours training, the girl that'd fall asleep during long meditation sessions, or the one that would bandage him up when he was too prideful to admit he was hurt.
The girl fighting him now was not the girl he fell in love with.
"Who are you?" he growled, pushing you back, racking his brain for a way to win without injuring your body.
"Great! You understand now!" ‘not-you’ smiled, rushing back towards the swordsman. "Come on then. Kill me."
This was hopeless. The swordsman started to panic as he parried one attack after another. His muscles ached. Your fighting style may have been sloppy, given the circumstances, but your strength, speed, and stamina were the same. "Give her back!" He demanded as he rammed his swords into yours, knocking your body to the ground.
"Not until I kill you and the rest of your stupid crewmates." The imposter smiled up at him, eyes glimmering with amusement.
Anger flared in Zoro's chest. How dare they use your beautiful smile to taunt him. How dare they look up at him like that with those stolen eyes.
Yet, despite his rage, he couldn't move. He couldn't attack even though he had rendered his enemy vulnerable on the ground in front of him. Not when that enemy was you. Shit, he thought.
"Zoro!" Usopp's voice called from behind the swordsman. "Knock her out! He can't control her if she's unconscious!"
There was a pause as Zoro watched the malice faded from your eyes, a mixture of fear and confusion taking its place. "Zoro?" you asked, sounding as confused as you looked, "What's going on?"
Hope flickered in the back of the swordsman's mind. He lowered his guard ever so slightly but kept the hilt of one of his swords poised to put you out if needed.
This could be a trick. He reminded himself.
"What was the first sword drill I taught you?" He asked, testing you.
"Zoro, what-"
"Answer me." He cut you off. It was an easy answer. The ‘forward figure eight.’ It had taken you ages to figure out how to coordinate your movements correctly, but once you got it, you absorbed the rest of his instruction like a sponge.
"Zoro please, you've taught me so much I-" In a flash, the fear vanished from your face, replaced by that menacing smile.
The imposter lunged at him.
The world went dark.
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦. ⁺
You opened your eyes slowly, wincing as they adjusted to the light. A dull pain throbbed behind your eyes as you examined your surroundings.
You were lying in one of the beds inside The Sunny's infirmary, the sheets tucked tight around your body, your head propped up on the pillow against the metal frame headboard. Chopper stood across the room, absorbed in whatever he was doing.
"Chopper?" you called, surprised by how weak you sounded.
The reindeer jumped as if you'd scared him before whirling around to face you. "You're awake!" He cried, leaping onto the bed and pulling you into a hug.
You winced as pain shot through your head at the sudden movement.
Chopper pulled away. "Sorry. I'm just so glad you're finally awake."
"What…happened?" You inquired. Moments ago, you were fighting alongside the others, but you'd somehow ended up back on the Sunny with no recollection of how you got there.
Chopper shifted uncomfortably. "You were mind controlled or possessed I think, I'm not sure how the man's devil fruit worked but-" he paused. "You tried to kill Zoro. Managed to graze him a bit too before Ussop knocked you both out."
Your breath hitched in your throat. "I tried to…Kill Zoro?"
"He's okay, don't worry. Just a little...Mentally scarred from the whole thing." The doctor reassured you.
Guilt crept into your consciousness. "Is he...Upset with me?" you asked, anxiously fiddling with your fingernails.
"I don't think so?" Chopper replied, "He's been checking on you every couple of hours so I think that's a good sign. I-"
"You're awake." A gravelly voice sounded from the entrance to the infirmary.
You turned your head to see Zoro standing in the doorway with a blank expression, his elbow resting on his swords. His open shirt revealed white bandages wrapped around his chest. Your guilt intensified.
Chopper scrambled off the bed. "I'll give you two some space." He announced awkwardly before hurrying out of the room.
Silence hung heavy in the air for a moment before Zoro spoke. "What was the first sword drill I taught you?"
Your brows wrinkled in confusion, "A forward figure 8," you replied. You remembered because learning that skill was the first time Zoro had touched you, guiding your sword arm from behind, his breath hot on your neck. Your face flushed slightly at the memory.
Zoro exhaled and strode to your side, "I just had to be sure it was you this time."
You sat up on the bed to look at him properly, getting a closer look at the bandaged wound on his chest. You bit your bottom lip in remorse. "Did I do that?"
Zoro looked down at his chest. He said nothing, but the shamed look on his face confirmed your suspicion.
"I'm sorry." You apologized, looking up at him, "I didn't mean to-."
"You were being controlled." He cut you off, clenching his fists at his sides.
You looked down at your hands. "I know, but-" You took a breath as you searched for the right words. "There must have been a way to push him out, but I don't remember… I'm sorry."
Zoro sat on the edge of the bed awkwardly. "Maybe if you didn't fall asleep instead of meditating, you'd be able to guard your mind better."
You winced, "I'm sorry. I'll try harder."
Zoro lifted his hand to cup your chin, returning your gaze to his. "Stop apologizing. I'm fine. You're fine. No one is dead. I'll incorporate more mental training into our sessions."
"Why didn't you fight back? I could have killed you."
A faint smile crossed his lips. "Don't get too cocky."
"Zoro I'm serious."
A pained look flashed through his eyes. He moved his hand to caress your cheek softly. "I couldn't bring myself to hurt you."
Warmth spread over your face. "But I hurt you."
"Again, it wasn't you. I just-" he sighed and brought his forehead to rest against yours, "I just couldn't do it."
"Zoro.." You trailed off, leaning into his touch and placing your hand over his in attempt to comfort him.
"The worst part is that I know I'd let it happen again." Zoro let out a shaky breath and shut his eyes tight as if he were trying to erase the memory from his mind. "I'd take a thousand hits before I hurt a hair on your pretty little head."
Your eyes widened as an aching pain shot through your heart. "But…Why? I'm nothing special."
His gaze pierced through you. "Don't be an idiot." he let out a strained laugh. "Everyone on this ship cares for you. I care for you." he inhaled sharply and shook his head. "I mean shit, princess, I think I'm in love with you."
Your lungs forgot how to breathe. "You're in…Love with me?"
Zoro backed away slightly, looking down at his hands. "I mean what other explanation is there? If it was anyone else I'd have killed them instantly. I constantly find myself looking for you, thinking about you, worrying about you. Believe it or not, you're a huge distraction, but I just can't bring myself to stay away from you."
You stared at him in shock at his confession, feeling as if your heart was going to beat out of your chest. "Zoro I-"
"If you don't feel the same, that's fine." He cut you off; you'd never seen him look as vulnerable as he did in that moment, "but the thought of not having you around anymore kills me."
You brought your hand up to his cheek, daring to move your face closer to his. "You silly swordsman." You chuckled softly. "I'm not going anywhere."
Zoro froze, "You're not?"
"No." you smiled, "In fact...I think I'm in love with you too.

Sabo helps GN!reader escape a group of relentless marines after they escape the clutches of a celestial dragon.
Content Warnings: None?
Tumblr media
"You're Safe Now."
Shit. You thought as you ran through the dim back alley, the weight of the celestial dragon's keychain feeling heavier in your pocket.
You'd been an idiot to think stealing the keys to your handcuffs in broad daylight was a good idea. You'd greatly underestimated the coverage of the crowded square and been caught red-handed by marine patrols.
Luckily, you'd managed to free yourself from your restraints before they reached your position, and they were now hot on your heels as you scrambled up the ladder of a fire escape and onto the rooftops above the town.
Your lungs and legs screamed at you to stop, but you glanced behind you to see two of the marines had followed you onto the roof, and a quick glance below you revealed the other two keeping an eye on you from the ground. You couldn't keep this up much longer, but you also couldn't return to your life under the dragon's control, especially not after attempting to escape.
So focused on pushing forward, you didn't notice that the rooftop ended beneath your feet, sending you spiraling downward. Luckily, you caught yourself on a protruding pipe. But you couldn't hold on for long as pain shot through your hands and wrists, forcing you to let go and tumble to the ground below.
Your ears rang, and your body ached as you forced your lungs to breathe as your body processed what just happened. Attempting to focus your vision on the narrow strip of blue sky above you, you couldn't help but consider giving up. Where were you running to?  You had no home anymore, no family to return to. You could shack up with a pirate crew, but would that be any better? You could run to the revolutionary army, but your strength and fighting spirit were in critical condition after four years in shackles. It was over. They were going to kill you.
"Hey." a male voice sounded softly from your left,  "You gotta get up."
You turned your head lazily to the side to see the blurry image of a man extending his hand towards you.
"I can't." You breathed hopelessly.
"C'mon." The man replied, "You've come too far to give up now. Get up."
You forced your eyes to focus on the man. He had wavy blonde hair that stuck out from underneath a peculiar-looking tophat. His eyes glistened with concern and encouragement, willing you to take his hand. "Please, I can help." He pleaded.
"Fuck it," You thought. "One last try."
So you took the man's hand, allowing his calloused fingers to wrap around yours and pull you to your feet. He didn't let go as you waited for the world to stop spinning, adjusting to the feeling of being upright again. "There you go." He beamed, "That wasn't so hard now-"
"Hey! There they are!" a voice boomed down the alley, drawing the stranger's attention away from you.
"Get them!" bellowed another.
The blond man tugged at your hand as he started to shuffle further down the alleyway. "Run."
You obliged, compelling your tired limbs to keep moving as you let the stranger pull you through the labyrinth of passageways between buildings, each one darker than the next.
The marine's footsteps pounded behind you, but you kept your eyes trained on the stranger's back, which was becoming increasingly less visible with each turn.
"Just a little further!" he called, turning his head towards you and offering you an encouraging smile. A spark of hope began to flicker through the burning pain in your chest.
Then the stranger made a sharp right, dragging you sideways. He pinned you up against the wall just past the corner, stealing the breath out of your lungs as you yelped in surprise. You felt his hand press against your mouth. "Shh, stay still." He whispered.
You listened, holding your breath. For a moment, the only sound was the thrum of your heartbeat pounding alongside his.
The group of marines ran straight past your hiding spot.
"Where did they go?" one yelled.
"Find them or we're all dead!" another ordered.
Once the pounding of their boots faded to silence, Your mysterious accomplice removed his hand. "Sorry, I think we're safe now."
You collapsed against him, gasping for air, your heart pounding in your ears as the adrenaline that kept you going began to fade.
The man caught you and lowered you gently to the ground. "Hey, hey, it's okay, you gotta slow down or you're gonna suffocate yourself."
You placed your hand over your chest and focused on taking deep breaths. In through your nose, out through your mouth.
The man brought his hand up to stroke your hair softly. "That's it, keep going. I've got you."
You took another deep breath. The subtle scent of salt and cloves radiating off the man's clothing helped calm your mind. You huddled closer to him. Although you didn't know this man, the aura of safety he held made your eyes water.
He was so warm; it'd been years since anyone handled you with any care.
As if he sensed the tears threatening to fall from your eyes, he tightened his embrace, "it's okay." he soothed, "You're safe now. I've got you."
You allowed yourself to sink into him for a little longer before the reality of the situation sunk back into your mind. You pushed yourself away from the man.
"Sorry," you said, wiping your eyes. "I didn't mean to- god, how pathetic you must think I am."
The man's eyes softened. Pink dusted his cheeks as he rubbed the back of his neck, "No, not at all, I saw the whole thing, it was actually kind of amazing." he chuckled dryly. "I'm Sabo, by the way."
Your eyes widened. You'd heard that name before, "Sabo…" you repeated, "As in 'Flame Emperor' Sabo? You're with the-"
"The revolutionary army, yes." Sabo smiled proudly, "and you're welcome to come back with me if you'd like."
Then a shy look crossed his features, and he looked away, "Unless.." he hesitated. "Unless you've got a home to get back to…Either way, I can give you a ride. Just say the word, and we're off."
"I'd like that a lot, thank you." You said with a small smile.
You were free at last.

"That was Incredibly Reckless"
You stood in a circle between Trafalgar D. Water Law and Monkey D. Luffy’s Straw Hat crew, who were in the middle of discussing a plan to create a diversion in one of Caesar Clown’s laboratories on Punk Hazard.
“I have an idea,” you chimed in. The group turned to look at you. “We could just blow the whole thing up. Only Caesar’s loyal henchmen are allowed in there, right? So it’s not like we’d be harming any innocents.”
“And how do you propose we do that?” Law asked, crossing his arms.
“Easy,” you shrugged. “Just sneak in with a bomb and blow it up.”
“Haha! That’s ridiculous!” The captain of the Strawhats grinned, “I like it!”
“That’s not a plan.” Law sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “And it certainly won’t be easy.”
“I’ll figure the rest out later.” You waved your hand dismissively. “I’m pretty good at improvising.”
“Maybe you should take one of us with you? For backup?” The archeologist Nico Robin, suggested.
“Ooh! Take Nami!” Luffy shouted, “She’s great at stealing stuff!”
“Oh stop it~” Nami smiled
“I have a spare bomb you could use.” Franky offered.
Law scowled, “Is anyone here capable of rational thought?”
The Strawhats stared back at him with blank expressions.
“You get used to it.” Nami shrugged, “So are we doing this or what?”
“No!”
“Yes.”
You and Law spoke at the same time; he stepped towards you. “You can’t. I’m not patching you up again.”
You glared and turned to the Strawhats, “All in favor of my plan say aye!”
“It’s not a plan,” Law muttered behind you.
A resounding “aye” resonated from the crew. You turned back to the doctor with a grin. “Watch me.”
You and Nami snuck into the lab from the outside through the ventilation system using a map Law reluctantly drew for you.
“This will lead you straight outside the center lab. It will be guarded and trapped. Do not get caught.” he’d explained.
“Relax, doc, I’ll be fine. I didn’t realize you cared so much.” You’d teased.
“I don’t.” Law glared. “Stop calling me that.”
“Whatever you say, doc!”
You reached the end of the vent and peered through the gaps in the cover. The room was indeed guarded by two of Caesar’s cronies, and you noticed two motion sensors on either side of the iron door as well as two cameras in each of the corners.
“What can you see?” Nami whispered from behind you.
“Two cameras, motion sensors, and two guards.”
“I can distract the guards with a mirage if you can disable the cameras.” She suggested.
“Good idea.” You nodded.
Nami’s mirage of herself appeared down the hall, catching the guard’s attention.
“Did it work?” She asked.
“Yeah, keep it up.”
You watched as the guards approached illusion Nami cautiously. Once they were far enough away from the vent, you removed the cover and shot at both of the cameras with your crossbow. They fizzled out with a loud “Click.” you winced as the guards began to turn around to investigate, but Nami morphed her mirage into a combat stance. The guards responded by drawing their weapons and preparing to attack.
“Now!” you whispered, crawling out of the vent. Nami followed, able to make her illusion more convincing now that she could see what she was doing.
You shuffled silently towards the door, dodging the motion sensors, and got to work picking the lock.
“Hey!” A masculine voice yelled from behind you.
“Uhm, we have a problem!” Nami’s anxious voice followed.
You glanced behind you to see the guards storming towards you, weapons still drawn.
“Shit,” you mumbled, still working on the lock.
A moment later, it clicks open. “Got it!” you yelled, pushing the door open.
“Thunderbolt Tempo!” Nami cried, summoning two lightning bolts to stun the guards before turning to follow you into the room. “That won’t hold them for long! Let’s place the bomb and get outta here!”
You nodded in agreement, pulling the small device Franky gave you out of your pocket and latching it onto a shelf in the center of the room.
As Franky instructed, you pressed the button to set it off, and your heart stopped.
The timer read 5:00....4:59....4:58...You had less than five minutes to get out of the building. It had taken at least ten to get in through the vents.
You turned to Nami, “Run!!”
She wasted no time, panic spreading through her features, turning on her heels, she dashed out of the room with you following close behind her. She lowered herself to crawl back through the vent, but you grabbed her, “no time.” You explained, pulling her up and continuing to run towards the exit.
Of course, running in plain sight attracted the attention of several guards throughout the building, who began to pursue you and Nami.
You shot arrows at them frantically, missing most but snagging a few. Enough to slow them down.
You reached the final hallway to the front door when- “BOOM!”
The bomb detonated. You had seconds to clear its path.
Nami started to slow down. “We’re not going to make it!” She panicked.
“Yes, we are.” You said, grabbing her arm and forcing her to pick up the pace. “I am not letting that smartass doctor taunt my grave.”
You cleared the front door with Nami in tow but weren’t safe yet. Franky said the radius was six miles, and you’d only put four between you and the bomb.
You trudged frantically through the snow, fueled by pure adrenaline. Panic set in. You weren’t going to make it.
Then, you spotted a familiar spotted hat in the distance. Law.
He lifted his hand, and space warped around you and Nami.
Seconds later, you were falling through the air before landing on something hard and warm.
Before you could process what happened, a wave of motion sickness rippled through your stomach.
“Get off me.” a rough voice sounded in your ear.
Once the world stopped spinning behind your eyelids, you realized that whatever broke your fall was breathing. You pushed yourself up and opened your eyes to see Law lying beneath you; a hint of pink dusted his cheeks.
You snapped out of your dazed state and realized three things:
The doctor teleported you away from the blast.
The hard object that broke your fall was Law.
You were now sprawled on top of him in a rather compromising position.
You felt blood rush to your face.
“I said. Get off of me.” Law repeated, not looking you in the eye, his face growing redder by the second.
You scrambled to your feet and mumbled a quick “sorry” before holding your hand out to pull him up. The doctor’s tattooed fingers clasped around your hand, and you pulled him to his feet.
He looked you up and down, scanning for surface injuries. When he found none, he took your face between his rough, calloused hands and looked sternly into your eyes. You felt your face grow warmer. “What are you doing?”
“Checking for a concussion. Hold still and look straight at me.” He ordered.
You obliged, struggling to maintain eye contact.
Law let out a sigh, “You’re fine.” He dropped his hands and stepped back, turning to check on Nami, who’d landed in a seated position in the snow a few paces away.
Once he’d ensured both of you were unharmed, he turned back towards you. “That was incredibly reckless.”
“But we did it,” you smiled, “told you so.”
“You could have died!” Law exclaimed, “What were you thinking? Running straight out of the front door like that?”
You raised your hands defensively. “Hey, it’s not my fault that cyborg thought it would be a good idea to give us five minutes to escape!”
“That’s no excuse!” Law fumed, throwing his hands up in exasperation, “I told you this was a stupid idea in the first place! If I hadn’t been waiting for you-”
“Relax doc, I’m fine. Thanks for saving us or whatever.” You cut him off, flustered by what seemed to be genuine concern coming from the cold-hearted surgeon.
Law glared at you and opened his mouth to continue his scolding, but you strode past him to link arms with Nami. “Let’s get back to the others, they’re probably worried about you.” You smiled at her and started walking.
“I’m charging Franky 1000 berris for almost blowing us up,” Nami said, with a completely serious look.
You laughed and waved behind you to Law. “Let’s go, doc.”
Law sighed and began following you broodingly, “Stop calling me that.”

"I wasn't Jealous!"
"Give up, swordsman, you'll never beat me!" you exclaimed.
"No shot, Princess!" The swordsman barked, downing his third beer of the night, "There's no way I'm letting a woman out-drink me!"
With a determined look in your eye, you waved down the bartender and ordered your third drink, "Watch me."
Zoro laughed in response and followed your lead, requesting another beer.
The rules were simple—a drinking contest where the loser had to help Sanji with the dishes for a week. You didn't plan on losing, so you made sure to choose a punishment that Zoro would despise.
However, after watching you down your sixth drink of the night, Zoro began to think that accepting your challenge may have been a bad decision, especially because you started swaying just after the fourth round.
"Alright Princess," he said sternly, leaning in so that you could hear him over all the noise inside the busy tavern, "maybe you should call it quits for the night."
"I will do no such thing!" you exclaimed, shaking your head profusely, "not until you surrender!"
Zoro paused, weighed his competitive spirit against the thought of carrying you, blacked out, back to the Sunny…
It was a short walk to the docks. You'd be fine.
Taking his silence as a refusal to yield, you waved down the tired-looking bartender and ordered another round.
A few minutes later, you felt the sudden urge to use the restroom as seven rounds of drinks finally reached your bladder. You stood, steadying yourself against the bar.
"Be right back," you slurred to the swordsman before making your way across the tavern towards the lady's room, putting a great deal of effort into appearing as sober as possible.
Zoro chuckled as he watched you stumble away.
You joined the Strawhats three months ago when the crew docked in your hometown for supplies. Zoro and Luffy stopped for a drink at your father's bar after being chased by an angry shopkeeper for "scaring away paying customers." Luffy caught you scribbling a story on a napkin behind the bar and, after sneaking a peak at what you'd written, decided you'd be the crew's chronicler, responsible for documenting the Strawhat's "glorious adventures."
The swordsman didn't talk to you much at first, but he soon got used to your presence as his crow's nest became your favorite writing spot. He'd noticed that you'd stop writing to watch him train sometimes and found himself pushing harder to impress you. Then, after a close run-in with the Blackbeard Pirates, he convinced you to let him teach you how to wield a sword. His chances of losing you were significantly lower if you were armed.
The bartender slid a glass of water across the bar, snapping the green-haired man out of his thoughts.
"For your friend," he winked, "You'd better give up soon, the poor lass is going to drink herself sick."
The green-haired man figured the barkeep was probably right anddecided to "give up" for your sake once you returned. You'd probably be too hungover to remember it in the morning, anyway.
Yet, 5 more minutes passed. You still hadn't returned. Zoro let out an exasperated sigh, no way she got herself stuck in the bathroom he thought.
Zoro crossed the tavern floor and lifted his hand to knock on the bathroom door.
Before his knuckles hit the wood, however, the door swung open to reveal a woman who looked nothing like you. "Wrong one, handsome, the men's is over there," she said, gesturing towards a door down the hall.
Zoro didn't respond, too focused on soothing the mild panic rising in his chest. The woman gave him an odd look before maneuvering around him and disappearing into the crowd on the dance floor.
Where the fuck did she go? He thought, How on earth did I lose track of her?
The swordsman circled the tavern's main room, his anxiety growing with every face he spied that wasn't yours.
Just as he started to get the horrible feeling that you'd somehow left the bar without him noticing, he caught a glimpse of you near the center of the crowd of dancing bodies.
Eyes locked on your position, Zoro pushed through the crowd to find you dancing in the center of it all. His panic eased, relieved to have found you, but anger quickly took his place as he noticed the hands of an unfamiliar man wrapped around your waist, guiding your hips with his to the music, holding you too close for the swordsman's comfort.
The stranger spun you around, and your eyes met his. Your smile widened. "Zoro! There you are,∼" you shouted, pushing away from your dance partner and stumbling towards the swordsman, "I wondered where you'd gone!"
"Hey, you disappeared on me, Woman." Zoro argued, pushing his index finger against your forehead.
You took his hand and spun around, "Whatever. Come dance with me∼"
"I don't dance"
"C'mon∼" you snaked your arms around his neck, pushing yourself against him.
Zoro felt every inch of his body grow warmer at your touch; his mind ran blank for a moment before he reminded himself that he should probably get you home. He gently pushed you off of him, "You've had a lot to drink, maybe we should-"
"Don't waste your time with this killjoy, sweetheart," A voice sounded over your shoulder. Your dance partner appeared behind you, reaching for your left arm, which now hung loosely by your side. "Come hang out with the fun people∼"
Zoro couldn't stop the glare that spread across his features as the stranger gave your arm a slight tug, which, in your unstable state, was enough to make you stumble right into him. The man caught you, arms pressed tight around your waist to provide as much stability as he could without falling to the ground with you.
You gave him a sheepish smile. "oops, sorry."
"You're welcome to fall for me any time, darling." He winked.
Zoro felt rage start to seep back through his veins.
"Alright, princess, time to go. You're gonna hurt yourself and I promised Nami I'd return you in one piece," the swordsman said sternly, reaching for you.
The stranger leaned closer to Zoro, still holding you firm against him, "C'mon man, don't be a cockblock." He said with a smirk.
Zoro's blood reached its boiling point. Before he could stop himself, he swung his already clenched fist straight into the bastard's face, propelling him backward. You would have gone flying with him if Zoro hadn't caught your wrist and pulled you back.
Your stomach heaved at the sudden commotion, and the room spun as you hunched over and vomited, barely missing Zoro's right foot.
The swordsman didn't give you a chance to recover as your former dance partner stood back up, red in the face with anger and humiliation. Not to mention the bartender, who was making his way around the bar to catch whoever was disturbing the peace.
Zoro scooped you up and dashed out of the tavern. Of course, he would have loved to stay for the fight, but he didn't want to risk getting you caught in the middle of it, especially in your heavily intoxicated state.
Once he was certain no one was tailing you both, Zoro turned into an alleyway and set you down, where you proceeded to hurl the contents of your stomach onto the pavement. The green-haired man sighed and pulled your hair away from your face as he waited for you to finish.
Once your stomach was empty, you stood. Still a little dizzy, but at least the nausea had subsided.
"Better?" Zoro asked, removing his hand from your hair.
"Much better."
"You shouldn't dance with strange men." He chided.
"And you shouldn't punch people just because you're jealous."
Zoro felt his face flush. "I wasn't jealous, woman."
"Yeah you were." you teased, pointing a finger into his chest, "I was just having fun and you punched him because you were jealous." you smiled, drawing out the syllables in the word "jealous" just to tease him.
"Remind me never to let you have more than three drinks ever again."
"And remind me never to make you jealous again." you giggled.
"I was not!"
"Were too∼"
"Why would I care who you dance with!?"
"I don't know, you tell me∼"
"I can't because I don't!"
"Then why'd you punch him?"
"Because he just wanted to fuck you!"
You both went silent. You'd been so focused on the argument that you hadn't realized you'd been moving closer to Zoro with every retort.
You held his gaze and a devious grin spread across your lips, "And why does that bother you so much?"
Checkmate.
Zoro remained silent, but he didn't pull away from you. "I-" his eyes flickered down to your lips. For a second, you were sure he was going to kiss you.
"Forget it." He sighed, smelling the alcohol on your breath; kissing you while you were like this would make him no better than that bastard in the tavern. He started to back away, "You're drunk, you don't know what you're-"
"I'm sober enough to know you want to kiss me."
The swordsman froze, heat rushing to his face, "I-" he stuttered, looking away. Your eyes were tempting him, and he was desperately trying to keep his composure.
"Am I wrong?"
"You're drunk." He was so close you could feel his breath catch in his throat.
"But am. I. wrong?"
Unable to hold back any longer, the swordsman closed the gap between you, pushing his lips firmly against yours. Sparks of heat rushed through your body as you kissed him back, placing your hands on his chest as his came to rest on your hips.
The kiss started slow and sweet, almost cautious. You'd never seen Zoro treat anything as gently as he was treating you; it made your stomach flutter. You slid your hands up his chest, wrapping your arms around his neck. He responded by snaking his hands around your waist and pulling you closer. His movements became more desperate as he pushed your body against the wall of the alleyway. You moved your hands into his mossy hair, and he groaned, pulling you tight against him as if you were going to disappear the moment he let go. You smiled against him and bit his bottom lip playfully. He went rigid for a moment before breaking the kiss.
"Slow down there, princess. I don't want-" he stumbled to find the right words. "I didn't mean to-"
You looked up at him expectantly.
He stepped back. "Fuck. I'm sorry." He took a deep breath and another step back, "I'm sorry."
"You're missing a crucial difference, swordsman." You hummed, ruffling his hair.
"What do you mean?"
"I actually want you."
He stood for a moment, stunned by your words, letting them sink in.
"You…want me?"
