Mood - Trent Alexander Arnold x black female reader part 4
Summary! In which you and Trent were sneaky links at one point in life and he got sick of you. Youâve now returned back to Liverpool and old feelings resurface.
Warnings! Angst, fluff,Asshole!Trent, swearing, smut if you squint a little,Toxic!Trent. And probably many more things I canât think of the top of my head.
Excuse any errors.
â.àłàż*:â.àłàż*:â.àłàż*:
It had been 3 weeks since Trent had brutally humiliated you outside his home, after he claimed that your little plan to get him back was not going to work, and basically told you to piss off. The part that upset you, was that you werenât even there for him.
His mother was the one that insisted on your presence as she claimed that she hadnât seen you since you left for San Francisco which was understandable. But you could somewhat get where he was coming from.
If your mother or father was to invite him over without giving you a heads up, youâd be beyond livid. He just didnât have to be such an asshole about the whole thing. The least be could was distance himself but humiliate you like that was unacceptable.
Currently, you laid fast asleep on your desk with papers spread out across your whole desk, work had been kicking your ass left right and centre. Ever since the confrontation from Trent you neglected yourself.
You now longer wanted to be around his family if he was going to act like that, let alone drag a situation rather than be an adult about the whole thing. So as result, you distanced yourself from Agnes and it took her awhile to notice.
Because she was a little slow, and figured that maybe you wanted your own space, however that was not the case. If she finds out that her brother was the reason behind your departure.
Sheâll be more than livid. Fuming. Seething.
The sound of snoring could be heard throughout your new apartment that you had purchased, which contained 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 living rooms. It was a nice and relaxing apartment.
You still were decorating it, but with work being your main priority youâve barely had time for yourself let alone to set up your house properly.
So you donât whatever it was, but something possessed your mother to check in on you. Here she was at 9am sharp ringing your doorbell, the sound had awoken you and you quickly put on your glasses.
Groggily, slipping on your Nike slides and adjusting your tube top so that your cardigan covered you properly you made your way over to the front door bracing yourself for her presence.
âHi mother,so what pleasure do I owe you visiting me.â You semi joked, stepping to the side so that she could come in.
âNonsense. Youâre my daughter, of course Iâm going to visit you.â She quickly shut down your joke and you just nodded as she pulled you into a hug.
The second she pulled her she looked you up and down and almost scoffed with a wide grin.
âYouâve finally gained weight. Look at those legs, they're toned.â She gestured to your legs that were covered in leggings, but still you could see how toned and muscular they were. In a good way.
âThank you mama, but if youâre here to come and critique my whole appearance the door is that wayââ
âIâm not here for that.â She cleared her throat taking a seat on your sofa, holding her bag.â Your cousin Kristen, her and Victor just gave birth to their daughter. Sheâs been asking about you.â
Kristen was your mothers niece, and you two were awfully close. It was only until you moved to San Francisco that your friendship faltered and you became too occupied to even give her contact name a glance.
âOh shit.â You gasped covering your mouth as you cursed in front of your mother.â My bad mama..â
All she did was tut her head, and give you a small smile that seemed genuine.
âTsk, all Iâm saying is that you better visit her. Sheâs at Winston long ridge hospital. But other than that, what is this news that Iâm hearing that youâre moving back.â Your mother almost seemed intrigued by this news. Why did she want you to move back all of a sudden?
There was a reason you escaped to San Francisco, if you didnât flee you sure as hell wouldâve been in an arranged marriage with some smug high class man in his late 20s.
âBecause I am. San Francisco is nice and all, but I miss Liverpool. Nothing can replace it.â You confessed, playing with your coffee mug.
And your mother just hummed taking a sip of her coffee, satisfied with your answer, and you could tell that she was pleased that you âfinally came to your senses.â
âAnyways, I think Iâve out stayed my visit. It was lovely seeing you, and I hope that you will invite your father and I over. Properly.â Your mother narrowed her eyes before giving you a hug, as you walked her to the door.
As soon as she left, you let out a deep sigh you didnât know you were gatekeeping.
Seeing your mother brought back so many unwanted memories, this wasnât the same lady that used to constantly pick out every little detail of your body.
To say the least, you are somewhat glad that she was changing her old ways, something must have touched her heart but hell you werenât complaining.
Getting out your phone, you went on your calendar and made a quick note to visit Kristen when available.
Just as you were about to go back to sleep, you received a wild text message from Agnes.
Agnes đ
Why are you ignoring me? I know youâve been reading my texts youâre not slick, imma catch you when youâre not expecting it. xoxo Agnes
You chuckled to yourself knowing how crazy she was, she wouldnât dare to pop up to your house because she didnât know where you lived exactly.
But best believe she would find a way to purposely bump into you, whether that would be going out of her way to contact your mother or even contact an old work mate of yours just for clarification.
A loud grumble erupted from your stomach and this was your cue to eat, since your house was still fresh you had nothing to eat so you decided to go grocery shopping.
Jollof rice was your meal for today. Sure it wouldnât compare to your mothers cooking, but you had to do what you had to do.
While scrolling through the aisles, you had your AirPods in as a song by Trent faiyaz played. You just wanted to go in and out of the store.
I guess the universe had other plan in store for you because Agnes was standing in a completely different aisle. And when she caught a sight of your long knotless braids she knew it was you.
âY/N?!â She shouted loudly, earning looks from all the other people in the store, but she didnât care. You had been ducking from her; ever since you left her parentâs house that day.
âWhere have you been? You havenât spoken to me in ages, and you brought a new apartment whatâs up with that?!â
âI got a got a job offer here and they extended my stay here longer, so I figured why not buy an apartment.â
Finally you had managed to calm down Agnes and you told her about her how brother practically told you to piss off, and to not come around anymore as your presence was not welcome.
And to say the least her anger wasnât directed towards you, it was now fixated on her brother. It was the audacity he had to tell you off in private and not in front of her.
Because he knew better, and he knows that she wouldâve not tolerated that foolish behaviour of his wouldâve been shut down instantly.
âI get that, but youâre meant to tell me these things girl. If Trent is being an asshole, Iâm the one thatâs gonna set him straight.â Agnes told her, and you didnât disagree. Agnes was your backbone, she was the only person beside you; that knew how to really get under her brotherâs skin.
âBy all means please do. Because Iâm trying to keep it civil, but that boy keeps testing my patience.â
Agnes is quiet for a second which leads you to become suspicious. as she is never one to listen but instead voice her concerns.
âCome with me.â She says bluntly, her eyes were filled with fire and her lips were in a straight line. And it was enough for Agnes to know she already sparked up a dilemma.
âI donât thatâs a wise decision. I have to go home and finish unpacking.â You attempted to make an excuse to avoid being apart of, whatever twisted plan Agnes had sorted out.
Yet this seemed impossible with the look she was providing it was enough for you to shut your lips and pay for your items. Once you did all this, you got in your car and followed her wordlessly.
The sound of Whitneyâs Houston faintly playing in the background didnât ease your mind as you followed her. As soon as you caught a sight of the familiar White House your face dropped.
So this is where she was leading you, there was a reason why she never revealed where you guys were going. Itâs because she knew you wouldâve turned mute and deaf, and dashed out of the store.
Well now look.
Silently, you spoke to yourself and prayed that God would give the you strength to not lash out at Trent if you caught a glimpse of him. It was about 12pm, and Trent was usually never home around this time:
Usually he would be training or going out to hang out with some of his mates. Is it weird you still remember your ex sneaky links schedule? No you were around for quite awhile, so of course you were bound to remember these things.
Getting out of your car, you locked your car and quickly jogged to catch up to Agnes who was already at the front door waiting for you speed up.
âGeez grandma, who knew you could be that slow, itâs all that booty slowing you down right.â She joked, snorting to herself, as you just side eyed her ignoring her stupid remark.
âWhy are we here? You know this is the last place I want to be right now.â
âI know, but you have to put your big girl panties and stand up to this man.Iâm sorry, but respectfully my brother has been treating you like shit and youâre just sitting back and allowing it like some weak bitch. Which I know youâre better than that.â She scolded, having to take a deep breath and calm herself down. As she knew that you werenât doing it on purpose.
But you were trying to become a better person and handle situations better, rather than you crashing out and verbally acting anyone in plain sight. You wanted to be the mediator, and remain cool calm and collected which she applauds tremendously.
Because Agnes is never one to back down from any conflicts she comes across.
âLook girl I love you and all, Iâm so happy for you going on this journey. But Trentâs got me all sorts of fucked up and Iâm going to deal with his ass right now!â
That was she exclaimed before the front door was shoved open, and her loud voice was echoing throughout the house.
âTRENT WHERE IS YOUR BITCH ASS??â
She sounded like a mad woman, with the way she was charging up the stairs. Her hair was swaying left and right, and not to mention her strides were almost impossible for you to keep up with. But you did your best and all you could do was just smile at how protective your best friend was over you.
It truely brought you joy, knowing that there was people out that could see pasts Trentâs brilliant smile and see that underneath all that attractiveness and beauty, heâs a wicked lad.
âWhat Agnes Iâm on the gameââ Instantly Trent cut off by Agnes throwing her shoe in his direction, luckily he dodged it and just as he went to protest this attack, she went flying and tackled him back into this bed.
âAGNES!â You screamed out trying to intervene, but what you failed to noticed that was one of Trent friends were sitting right next to him and almost instantly he jumped in grabbing agnes.
Pulling her off of Trent, he held her in his arms as if she weighed nothing it was like a cat being held by their owner from attacking another cat.
Vex was not even the word to how she looked, infuriated was what she could be matched to.
"Are you fucking crazy what did you attack me like a wild dog at a park?!'' Trent exclaimed furiously, adjusting his dreads that got messed up in the midst of the tussle he had with his sister.
He surely was not expecting to get attacked by his sister on this fine day, especially since when she left the house she was in such a vibrant mood, that no one could kill her vibe.
what happened?
''And you!" Trent suddnely fixated his eyes on you and they were darkened causing you to jolt at how angry he looked. ''Why did you just stand there like a puppet, and let her attack me!" Its almost like your words got caught in your throat, he had put you on the spot. And you couldnt find the courage to spit something back.
This interaction between the two of you must have irked something inside of Agnes, who was being held back and she let out a groan of frustration as she fought in Trentâs mateâs grip.
"See what you're not going to disrespect my best friend right in front of me Trent Alexander!"'
Trent just let out a embarrassed groan as he held his hands on his face.
"This is a part of the reason why i jumped you, you're such a twat especially towards Y/n she never did anything to you.'' Agnes continued arguing for you and eventually the guy had let her go.
"Look, i think its best if I just leave..''
''Agreed.''
"No."'
The siblings both sent each other nasty looks and this was enough for you to just turn on your heel and walk out. Putting up with them was the least of your worries.
So you excited the room and instead decided to stall in the hallway pacing back and forth trying to ease your thoughts. Muffled speech was heard from other side of the door but you knew that you had to drown it out.
It was only until Trentâs friend had emerged outside shutting the door behind him, he shifted his gaze to your anxious looking figure.â Are you alright?â
âIâm fine. My main priority is the two of them, are they still fighting like cats and dogs?â You asked him impatiently, trying to peak but he shut the door fully and he stood tall.
âTheyâre fine now. Just talking it out, donât worry I removed all sharp objects so Trent should be fine.â He awkwardly joked, trying to lighten the mood but your mood didnât falter at all. Instead, you just sent him an unimpressed glance, and continued listening to the conversation.
It was only then that you actually decided to take in Trentâs friends looks. He was quite tall to the point where he towered over you like a crane, his skin tone was a Carmel colour, not to mention his hair was curly and he had a little stubble on his face with some piercing dark brown eyes to top it off.
You actually never took in the time to suck in his appearance, simply to you he was just known as Trentâs best mate, other than that you never batted any eye towards him until now.
Even at times when you and Trent would get into arguments and he would leave you on the side of the road screaming at the top of your lungs, he would be the one to pick you up and drop you off home. Heâll even listen to you rave on about how Trent didnât deserve you, and that he wasnât worthy of your love.
Eman.
âEmmanuel.â You gasped out in awe it finally dawned on you who this man was. Standing in front of you was the man that held you together when Trent was destroying your heart immensely.
This was Trentâs best mate since kindergarten the two of have been like yin and Yang for years, he knew Trent like the back of his hand and knew all us business the amount of girls, he has fooled around with up until the Password of his phone. Thatâs how two the close were.
Inseparable was their name.
âItâs about time you realised.â A sheepish grin broke out on his face, and his perfect teeth flashed your face which also caused you to beam as well. Unknowingly you found yourself leaping into his arms hugging him tightly. His cologne engulfed your nostrils.
He smelt like heaven.
His muscular arms draped their around your waist and tugged you into him and you almost went flying at the impact but played it off. Boy he was strong now. This wasnât the same man that you left behind that was scrawny and couldnât bench above 90kg he was a big boy now.
He put on muscle now and seemed more confident than ever. Nobody could stop him. In fact you couldnât help but be in awe with how much he has grown physically and mentally.
Just as you were about to ask him how heâs been, the door was ripped open and the sound of a throat clearing caused the two of you to jump apart. There stood Agnes with a sinister grin on her face at the sight in front of her.
In fact she almost looked happy that she caught the two of you in a tight embrace like that. She would lowkey support this ship if her brother didnât get his act together.
Trent on the other hand, he was fuming. His jaw was clenched tightly, and the vex in his eyes was prominent it was enough for Eman to gulp loudly. Trent didnât utter a sentence, all he did was storm past and jog downstairs taking off.
âWell..That was something.â Eman joked, scratching the back of his neck as he knew he was in for an earful from his mate about hugging his ex situationship like that. Truth be told he was terrified out of his mind to follow him. But he knew he had to.
âGo?!â Both of the women exclaimed and he flinched at how loud they were, but obeyed their instructions and jogged down the stairs after the right back whom was beyond fuming at what he had just seen.
There was awkward silence between the two until Agnes made eye contact with you, and a sneaky grin crept on her face. She didnât have to say anything, you already figured out what she was indicating.
âSo you and Eman?â
âOh shush your mouth!â
__________
Meanwhile Eman had chased after Trent like a mad man his strides were too powerful to keep up with , it was almost like he knew that Eman was following him because he stopped suddenly in the front yard causing Eman to halt his pace in panic. As he didnât expect Trent to pause so suddenly.
His brown eyes were visibly shaking with fury, his jaw was clenched and his eyes narrowed at Eman looking him up and down.
âWhat do you want?â
âIâm just here to explain myself-â
Trent tutted his head stopping himself from walking back and forth, and he towered over Eman by a tiny bit and Eman gulped not liking how intimating his friend was acting towards him.
âThereâs no need to explain anything.â Trent seethed shutting him , and he pointed a finger in his face.â You and Y/n, what did you guys think you were doing huh.â
âW-We were hugging Trent. Thatâs what normal people when they havenât seen each other in ages.â Eman justified, fighting the urge to roll his eyes at Trentâs possessiveness of her. She was her own woman, therefore she didnât need Trent crashing out Everytime the opposite gender talked or breathed the same air as her.
It was bizarre to say how she could make him go from 0-100 so quickly over something so little. But she didn't really care in her mind, she was just greeting an old-time friend nothing more.
âI donât give two shits about if you havenât seen each other in God knows how long, you are to stay away from her. Sheâs not a good person Eman.â Trent suddenly quietened down, and was almost trying to gaslight him?
âWhat makes you say that?â
âBecause man look at how we ended up, she left me for practically dead when I needed her the most. And what you think sheâs not gonna do the same to you, just because youâre a big man and grown muscles that doesnât change the fact that sheâll use you Eman.â Every word that came from Trentâs mouth was like a lethal dart, they just kept coming and coming. And they werenât even accurate too.
It was almost like he was uttering these words aloud to reassure himself that she was a bad person, when in reality he knew that was far from the truth. Maybe his ego was still a tad bit bruised from the other day.
But Trent was aware deep down in his heart that you were not this monster, that he was portraying you as and he was just trying to tarnish your image and reputation.
âTrent I-â
âYouâre really gonna fight me on this. At the end of the day I was the one that dealt with her Eman, I know all her patterns. I know that girl. She was mine once upon a time. So if you wanna go down that road please do, but all means nobody is stopping you. Iâll be there to say I told you so.â Trent eyed him with a shrug and patted his shoulder once before walking off once again.
Leaving Eman there clueless and stunned by what had just occurred, he witnessed his best friend of so many years basically try gaslight when he saw one thing and was trying to make something of it.
Truely this showed thatv Trent indeed somewhere in a dark twisted way of his, his feelings for y/n were somewhere, and they were displaying even more now that she has returned. Or maybe itâs possession.
Now Eman was not one to talk about anyone behind their back, especially someone like Trent whom he considers his brother. All he ever stated was facts, he didnât do anything wrong at all, and it was clear as day that Trent is still indeed in love with Y/n.
Underneath all that horrific slander and hatred. Buried underneath somewhere.
The question is how far he is willing to go to drown himself in his sorrow and anger, until he finally master's how to come forth about his feelingsâŠ.
To be continuedâŠ.

as i continue to become a better woman. iâm really starting to understand the importance of remaining silent. everything doesn't need your input or opinion. everyone doesnât deserve a reaction from you. some situations are really meant to bring you out character. know when to speak up. most importantly know when to remain silent.
