childhood headcanon: peter grew up in las vegas, born to a couple of lapsed mormons who fled to vegas after leaving the church. peter’s dad kept a lot of the weird, uptight neurotic beliefs and the worldview of the church even after leaving it, which is really unfortunate because he also ended up having a problem with drinking and gambling. (peter’s mom took a more level-headed view on things, but she stayed with peter’s dad even though the two of them disagreed on so many things and she disapproved of his vices.) peter HATED growing up surrounded by so much sin and debauchery, particularly seeing the hypocrisy of his father, and it really informed his hardline black-and-white view on justice and morality.
