like literally theres a quote from imam malik about ambiguous and unclear verses in the quran that goes "Belief in it is mandatory, questioning it is forbidden". he said this about the issue of whether or not, according to the quran+sunnah corpus, Allah's apparently physical attributes like having a hand, smile, etc, are to be taken literally or metaphorically. Just to show that i know what Im talking about, in Maliki madhhab you have to accept those verses without deferring to metaphorical or esoteric explanation (ta'wil) or tajsim (asserting that god has a material corporeal body)
