The thing about Jade is that she is bringing it. Whether the charts are ever reflective of that she is a superstar because her work speaks for itself

While lana absolutely does have songs I like I think what makes me more invested in Ethel Cain's music overall is the fact that you can feel her evolution as an artist in the songwriting and production, whereas lana for the most part has stagnated .

Funnily enough, Chocolate remains probably the most unique song in The 1975's discography. The way they paired those guitars with emo vocals and Jackson 5 melodies in a way no one had at the time, and tbh nobody has replicated since. The way the lyrics are basically just him scatting and the vocals are so unintelligible he doesn't even use that style anymore. Whether you love it or hate it it's a total anomaly in pop music.

That Taylornation post was explicit enough but another reason I think TS12 is coming: Lover came out soon after rep. It's clear that when an album of hers isn't received well by critics or paints her in a bad light it motivates her

However you feel about NOACF as an *album* (And let's be honest, it has Many underrated gems) as an era it was really top tier. Greta Thunberg on the title track, the lead single being punk, Mindshower, Too Shy, every track getting a video commissioned by an artist. Matty's post-woke edgelord schtick could never compete.

Folk who don't give ambient tracks a shot are missing out; Willoughby's Theme is one of the most gorgeous tracks Ethel has ever produced

My only gripe with Willoughby Tucker is that I wish there was more storytelling, given the lore of the album. And I say that as someone who loved Perverts and prefers her atmospheric music

it's actually kind of incredible how white neurodivergent queers will find a way to make someone being knowingly, intentionally, and purposefully racist about transphobia. you people can comprehend the negative effects of transphobia but expect black people to just look past ethel going through a "racist phase" as a grown woman because the people who exposed her are also bad people. truly amazing
Yeah there's really no defending the racist things she said, she herself admitted she knew better. She's allowed to change but people aren't obligated to forgive her.

Two things can both be true: 1. Ethel Cain is the target of a smear campaign. Which is wrong. 2. People are allowed to be mad and even dislike her over things she's done in the past. You can condemn harassment without defending her actions or telling others how to feel.
