This would have been my holy empire. I would have loved if this scene if it made it on screen! This scenes shows that even after turning, Stack and Mary were humane and still had morals. In the movie, it made it seem like they were being controlled by remmick. With this scene, it would have made it seem like they were just dancing and having fun. It’s still one of my top 3 scenes in the movie, with or without this scene…maybe even number 1 🫣

I didn’t even really like remmick LMAOOO
small rant regarding sinners
i don't even post but the sinners fandom is already festering.
i dont mind there being a lot of remmick fics, i read some myself. i was excited to see people interacting with black culture except they aren't. instead they've pushed us aside in a movie that revolves around our people, our culture, and our influence. a lot of y'all are doing exactly what the movie warns about in fact.
i saw the movie on saturday and since then i've already seen:
- complete misinterpretations of the movie
- stack x smoke incest, stack x smoke x sibling reader
- SO MUCH sammie x remmick
- daughter of plantation owner reader
- thirsting after bert, a literal klansman
- an underwhelming amount of black reader but so much irish or white american reader
- white saviorism and/or inserting a white character where they don't belong
- overwhelming amounts of smut with zero ties to the plot
- lack of interaction with black characters despite the majority of the main cast being black
dark fiction is one thing but pure ignorance and racism is a whole different thing. i also understand y'all are allowed to ship whatever you want but there are certain power dynamics that cross the line especially in the context of the movie and the history behind it.
please consider how you interact with media surrounding sensitive topics like this even if it is fiction. just my two cents.

Thinking about Mary's seeming lucidity under Remmick's control when Annie died.
Mary returned home to bury her mother after being married off to a rich white man, and the sight of Stack at the train station compelled her to stay longer out of spite. All night, she's trying to reestablish herself as part of the family she unwillingly left behind. Getting past Cornbread at the door, explaining herself to Sammie (who didn't recognize her at all), and confronting Stack. Her belonging at the juke is very uncertain. She's actively fighting to be recognized.
Unlike the rest of the juke, Mary seems a bit naive towards the reality of racism, and it makes sense given her background. She's been raised to see love as something that transcends race. She just wants Stack to be with her despite it all, despite her being married to a white man, despite her being white-passing, despite how risky it is to be with Stack in particular. It doesn't seem to sink in fully when Stack warns her what would be done to her if any white people saw them together. After all, why should any of that matter? Why should they have to worry about all that? Why should they have to fear white people? They shouldn't have to, but that doesn't mean they'd be wrong to. The danger that white people pose is looming at the door, and Mary's dream of equality is far off.
Remmick questions why she's allowed in, and the one to resolutely affirm her place in the family is Annie. Still, that question eats at her, and she goes out of her way to approach Remmick and his turned klansfolk. She leaves the safety of the juke to prove herself useful to the twins by using her appearance to get money out of white people, but she stays with them out of a want of support and community. Eventually, she catches on to Remmick's manipulations, but it doesn't save her because she turns her back on him. Sure, she couldn't have known that he could leap at her like that, but it's as if she didn't even think he would attack her.
Mary yearns for Remmick's promise of "equality" more than anything. Once she's turned, it doesn't matter to her that it is equality under the reign of a batshit white man. All that matters to her is that Stack isn't shying away from her anymore, that no one is questioning her place in the group, that her family can't get away from her now, that she has the power to force them to stay with her for all eternity.
Annie dying destroys the horrible illusion of family that she had under Remmick's control. Annie was the one to shoot down Remmick when he invalidated Mary's blackness based on sight alone. She said Mary's family. But when it seems like Mary's finally going to have the family she yearned for, Annie rejects it. She has Smoke kill her so she can escape it.
None of the people that Remmick turned wanted what he promised. None of them but Mary. I think that's why she's still lucid under his control, why she's able to run away after Annie's death even though he was still in command of the others. She had intent that none of Remmick's other victims had, intent that couldn't be overridden once her perfect dream died with Annie.

Hating Mary and defending Remmick in the same breath is fucking insane, but that’s none of my business.
(Except it is, because reader insert culture is insane. The amount of fics I’ve seen where white boys of the month get sexualized is wild. To each their own, but I think condemning queer women for writing Mary because they find her attractive is uhhh little homophobic. But it’s different when you’re writing two men, right? It’s not the same when you’re fetishizing a villain who openly turned and worked with clan members, right? It’s easier to target women… right?)

Just watched Winter Spring Summer or Fall after I found out that the Percy allegations are true….and I honestly wanted to hang myself while watching it 😬. Not just because I was jealous weirded out by this random ahh movie. But because it didn’t feel like a natural romance story, it felt fake and not organic. Not to mention Percy starring in a movie and doing all these scenes while misconducting women 😕. Honestly the plot was ok 6.3/10 but that’s all I really have to say. Hopefully he won’t be in anymore movies🫤

Didn't check your username Read your latest work Checked the name Cursed myself because you only write bad ending angst :'c In a more serious note, very nice work, even tho I must admit I tend to avoid your stories because I don't deal well with angst
thanks for reading my work. just being honest, i don’t really take what you said as a compliment — it comes across more critical than kind. i get that not everyone enjoys angst, and that’s okay, but i write what i love. no hard feelings, but please remember writers put a lot of effort into their work, even if it’s not your style.

when a fic's plot has so much potential but the author only uses dialogue and practically 0 description, doesn't skip lines and uses poor grammar

(reminder that writing a fanfic imperfectly is 100% better than writing it with AI)
