Should I be sleeping? Yes. Am I? No. Instead I’m reading fanfiction, because why would I do anything else.
I’m actually reading a Rook x reader x Vil one on AO3. It’s SOOO good. I’ll link it below.
But like when I read most fanfic, I get ideas about my OC’s.
In a lot of fanfic, when the reader gets hurt, I see a lot people write about Vil helping them take care of wounds so they won’t scar. In contrast, I think Ash is one of those people who believes scars are beautiful, and are a sign of power and strength. A way of showing that someone has survived through hardship.
Vil definitely offers and suggests different oils and products to help prevent wounds from leaving scars, but I don’t see him as someone to force them upon his SO.
He loves Ash (and Rook) scars and all. He won’t force those products on her, just lets her know they are available if she wants them.
I think sometimes, during quiets moments, he likes to just trace them.
Link to the fanfiction I was reading:

TWST Book 6 - 6 Emergency Housewarden Meeting
Malleus and Lilia teleport into a room full of people, with multiple people from each dorm. Keres lets out a breath at the sight of her housewarden and vice-housewarden.
“I’m so glad ya’ll are okay…”
Malleus walks over to Keres, taking the small space between her and Mika to stand. He gently puts a hand on her shoulder, as if to comfort her. “I hope we didn’t keep you waiting.”
“Malleus, Lilia! I’m so glad you could make it!” Kalim claps his hands together, obviously as relieved to see them as Keres was.
Everyone is quiet.
It’s Lilia who breaks the silence. “Hmm… It appears I was correct about which students were abducted.” He walks over to stand on Keres other side.
Trey is the first to respond to him. “I was just baking some cookies in the dorm when I got word Riddle had been kidnapped. Then I heard that Ace and Deuce were injured and had to go to the infirmary… it was all so sudden,” he looks over at Spade, “And with how Spade came back to the dorm the other night…” He closes his eyes. “I can barely wrap my head around everything.”
“To be fair, that was a whole different incident.” Spade comments.
“You say that like you didn’t come to me this morning for help redoing your bandages.” Trey retorts, glaring at her.
She moves closer to Cater, who was on her other side.
“I checked out the stables where Riddle was taken, and it’s like a war zone. Even the grass was burned to a crisp. What in the world is going on?” Cater shakes his head. “#SoNotCool.”
“That’s what I wanna know!” Ruggie shouts.
“Silver and Sebek said they took Zero alongside Riddle,” Lilia explains.
“Leona surrendered unconditionally,” Ruggie starts. “Yeah, Leona, of all people.” He deepens his voice to match his housewarden’s, “‘Ruggie, you and Ash are in charge of Savannaclaw ‘til I get back. Keep things runnin’. Then again, I can’t be sure I’ll come back at all.’” He returns to his normal voice. “He was dead serious too. He folded just like a cheap suit!”
“It was pathetic, he just took one look and went, ‘nope, I surrender.’” Spade adds, throwing her hands up. “Like what they fuck!”
Keres nods in agreement. “It was so out of character! I mean, I don’t know him that well, but still. He always puts up such a fight with things,” she shakes her head. “It doesn’t make sense. We could’ve taken them down without a problem…”
Jade speaks up from the other side of the room. “Azul was taken during a club meeting as we understand it.”
“The Board Game Club guys say he left with ‘em peacefully, and Firefly Squid and Lil’ Clione went along too.” Floyd adds from beside his brother. “I dunno, though. Azul’s the type to go down swingin’.” He looks at Spade. “I’m with Mahi Fish, what gives?”
“The members you talked to were correct,” Mika says with a nod. “Glitch and I were there. We were ready to fight. It wouldn’t have been hard.”
Glitch nods beside her. “I was fully prepared to shut down and destroy all of their gear, but Idia stopped me.” She furrows her brow. “It would have been so simple, I could have done it without any other technological casualties. Ortho would have been fine.”
The door opens as Samara comes in. Her face has a huge crack in it, and she is actively stitching up a large cut on her arm, shoving what looks to be some sort of stuffing back into her arm. “Sorry! I got knocked unconscious during the fight. I’m here now, though!”
“Starfishie!” Floyd runs over to where his girlfriend stood. “What happened?!” He’s quick to pick her up and hold her in his arms.
“Hold on! I’m still stitching myself back together!” The cursed doll wiggles in the eel’s arms, trying to find a good position to continue dealing with her wounds.
“Yuume’s group and I were with Vil and Jamil in Ramshackle.” Kalim says.
“She’s still with the other freshmen right now,” Hannah adds. She stood next to Jade, petting Hera who was in her arms.
“We tried to fight the intruders with magic, but it had no effect on them. They took Vil and Jamil, and also Grim.” Rook explains.
“Interesting…” Jade reaches out to scratch Hera’s chin as he speaks. “So Leona and Azul’s group didn’t try to fight back. There must be a reason for that.”
“Leona seemed to know what their deal was.” Ruggie adds.
Mika looks at Ruggie, “As did Idia.
Malleus hums, rubbing his chin. “Hm… Kingscholar is from an old royal house. It would stand to reason he’s heard of them.”
Ruggie squints at the prince. “What are you talking about?”
Mika grabs his hand. “Malleus, do you know who they are?”
The door opens again, and Trein walks in. “I’ll answer that question.”
“Oh, hello Trein. Where’s the headmage?” Lilia asks.
“Styx took him into custody as well. I’m in charge while he’s away.”
“They took Crowley?!” Hannah shouts.
Spade scoffs. “Maybe he’ll finally pull his head out of his ass and act like a proper headmage and take care of the students.”
“Hold up. What’s Styx?” Floyd asks, walking back over to where his brother stands. He sets Samara on the ground and takes the needle and thread from her, starting to sew her back up.
“Styx is an organization that operates independently of any nation or government. It’s an arcane institute that conducts research on blot. They’ve done so for many years,” Trein explains.
Everyone is in various stages of shock and surprise, but it’s Ash who speaks first from her spot leaning against Rook. “Seriously?”
“They study blot?” Jade asks, a small look of shock on his face.
“Tch. I get it now,” Floyd says. He ties off the stitching on her arm and kneels down to start sewing up some of the smaller tears on her legs.
“Huh? Get what?” Kalim tilts his head.
Jade nods, coming to the same conclusion his twin had. “Think about who they took.”
Hannah furrows her brows for a moment before her eyes go wide. “Oh my god.”
“It was Riddle, Leona, Azul, and Jamil.” Cater counts on his fingers. “So they abducted Jamil, who’s a vice housewarden, and left Kalim alone. But then they didn’t take Rook, who’s also a vice housewarden.”
“That’s odd, right?” Trey looks at Cater. “If they’re not targeting housewardens or vice housewardens, then…” He trails off.
Ash’s eyes go wide and she squeezes Rook’s hand tight. “They took everyone who’s overblotted…”
Ruggie turns to look at Ash. “Wait, does that mean Vil overblotted too?”
Everyone who knew about the overblot looks away, with the exception of Spade. “But Riddle and the others got proper medical treatment and had a complete recovery. Why would this come up now of all times? Why not at least wait until the summer?”
Malleus hums. “There is someone who probably knows their reasons.”
Mika looks up at him, “Who?”
Ash steps forward, almost stumbling in the process. “What all do you know, Malleus?” She growls. “Now isn’t the time to hide things.”
“The Watchman of the Island of Woe.”
Rook steps forward beside Ash to help stabilize her. “I’ve seen mention of them here and there in old history books.” He looks at Malleus. “Does that mean you are acquainted with this watchman of the dark and dreadful isle, Roi des Dragons?”
Malleus raises a brow at the hunter. “Really, Hunt, have you become addled? You’re acquainted with them as well.” He turns his head to look at Mika with a small smile. “As are you, my treasure.”
“You all know them.” Lilia adds.
“Are you suggesting what I think you are…?” Rook asks. “That either Idia or Zero Shroud, the housewarden and vice housewarden of Ignihyde, is the Watchman for the Island of Woe?”
Malleus nods, “Yes. Mind you, ‘Watchman’ doesn’t refer to a single person. It’s a title given to a certain family. I believe the current head of their family is…” he thinks for a moment. “Aidne Shroud.” He looks to Lilia for confirmation.
Lilia shakes his head. “No, she passed away. Now it’s Aidne’s son, Idia and Zero’s father.”
Malleus nods. “I see. Human generations pass so quickly.”
“Well, the Watchman role was actually converted into a formal organization. They go by Styx nowadays. It’s a rather recent development, of course.” Lilia taps a finger on his chin. “Why, they only became Styx around a century ago, as I recall.”
Ash raises a hand. “Hold on a sec, maybe it’s because my head is still reeling from getting slammed up against a wall, but are you seriously telling us that the Shrouds, Idia and Zero, are the ones who are in charge of what happened?”
“Idia did seem to know what was going on when they charged in to take Azul,” Mika says.
“He seemed to be irritated and annoyed with the situation, though. Maybe that was because it was his king that fell off the table?”
Mika gives a small nervous laugh and leans closer to Glitch, her voice low. “The game didn’t finish, they got interrupted…”
Glitch leans closer as well. “But his king fell, therefore, Azul won.”
Mika facepalms. “That’s not how chess works…”
The side conversation is interrupted when Ruggie speaks. “I’m gettin’ confused. Leona’s mentioned that Idia’s family is part of some megacorp… But now you’re sayin’ that’s just a cover? And they’re secretly the bosses of this Styx group that kidnapped the guys? And they’re also the Watchman of the Island of Woe?”
“Indeed,” Lilia confirms. “While the Watchman has become something of an urban legend by now… Back in the old days, when mages were called witches and wizards, they were feared across the land.” He explains. “People believed the Island of Woe would punish any wizard who abandoned their principles and went mad with power.”
“One of my family’s history books claims that the group is so ancient, they date back to the Age of the Gods.” Malleus adds. “The relationship between magic and blot hadn’t been established at that time. According to my history book, people believed overblots were disasters that occurred without warning. The Jupiter family forebearer sealed those disasters away on the Island of Woe and brought peace to the land. A watchman was tasked with keeping those disasters from plaguing the world again. That person was one of the Shroud’s family ancestors.”
“That sounds less like history and more like myth. It’s all on such a grand scale. Ya boy Cay-Cay can barely keep up…”
Spade pats Cater’s back. “I’ll admit, it’s hard to think of Zero as the daughter of some big and powerful family…”
Mika nods. “Yeah…”
“Mind you, humankind never stopped researching magic, eager students that they were,” Lilia starts. “Time marched on, and at some point magic became safe to practice. The witches and wizards of yore became known as mages. Nowadays, mage licenses are international. Mages are globally recognized as contributing to the betterment of society. And governments passed laws and forced agencies to discipline magic abusers who caused trouble for people… Over time, the Watchman of the Island of Woe faded from the history books. But the group continued their research on the disasters– or blot, really– as the organization Styx.”
Trein had been intently listening to both Malleu and Lilia. “We were aware that Idia and Zero were the children of the Shroud family, yes… But this is the first time I’ve heard of a connection between them and Styx. I’ve read just about every notable work on magic history, yet I’ve never seen any of this discussed.”
“Ah, but see, you’re limited to the texts that survived among humankind. Humans and fae stopped intermingling quite a long time ago. Plus, different cultures and species pass down lore in different ways–not every truth is written down.” Lilia looks at Mika, “I believe you mentioned once that deep sea mer also didn’t typically write things down.”
Mika nods. “There’s no point in writing it down if it can’t be seen to be read.”
Samara stares at Lilia. “I forget that you practically lived through all this history, Lilia.” She smiles. “I shouldn’t be surprised you are the one to know so much about this.”
Mika lets out a small laugh. “Why do you think I always suggest going to Lilia when you need help with history?”
Trein lifts a hand to his mouth. “This makes me wonder… Was the headmage aware of the Shroud’s connection to Styx? Does that mean he wasn’t able to work with the Shroud family to avoid this scenario? Spade rolls her eyes. “Would he even care?”
Malleus looks over at Spade. “Who can say, really? Even if he had known, he wouldn’t have been able to stop them.”
“As for Styx,” Trey starts, “Why did they capture a group of overblotters? What’s their plan?”
“Based on what Lilia said, I doubt they’ll treat them hospitably.” Jade responds. “If they’re lucky, they’ll only be examined. If they’re unlucky, they’ll become test subjects. And if they’re REALLY unlucky, they may be–”
“Don’t you dare joke about that!” Spade snarls.
Ash looks at the ground, and squishes closer to Rook.
“If Zero and Idia are there with them, I highly doubt they will just let them be killed.” Samara offers.
“Would they even be able to stop it?” Mika asks.
Floyd finishes sewing up the final cut on Samara’s body and stands up. “Y’know, there’s one thing that’s buggin’ me after hearin’ all this.” He holds out a hand to help Samara to her feet. “Those goons rolled up and blasted half the campus. There’s tons of witnesses, right?” With his girlfriend on her feet, he turns to everyone else. “Someone must’ve got ‘em on video. Seems to me like they’re not tryin’ to stay very secret. Maybe they don’t care. Or maybe they have some REAL reliable way of cleanin’ up after themselves.”
Ruggie gulps. “I don’t like the sound of that one bit.” He looks over at Ash. “I say we worry about our own skins ‘stead of wastin’ time on the others.”
Glitch nods, looking at Kalim. “Agreed.” With Jamil gone, the care of Kalim fell onto her and Hannah, and something told her that Hannah wouldn’t be up to taking care of the energetic housewarden.
Spade opens her mouth to disagree, but Trein raises a hand to stop her. “While Bucchi’s wording leaves something to be desired, he does have a point. We don’t know where the Island of Woe is, which means we cannot pursue our kidnapped students.” He looks around the room, making sure to look at each and every person. “I want all of you to return to your dorms and conduct a roll call. Check for any injured students and report back to me.” He turns to look specifically at Keres. “Keres, I hate to ask this, and normally I would never endorse this kind of behavior, but do you think you can get access to Ignihyde’s database? Ignihyde tends to have everything under technological security, and with both the housewarden and vice housewarden gone, I am unsure how to access the data.”
Everyone starts to leave the room, aside from Keres and Trien. The girl smirks. “Yeah, it might take me a little bit, but I should be able to get it done. It’d be easier if I could steal someone from the technomancy club to help me though.”
Trein nods. “That should be fine, but be sure to let their respective dorm know. This needs to be done as soon as possible.”
“Well, you’ve asked the best person in the school to do it.”
“Then I will put you in charge of Ignihyde until the Shrouds are back.”
Keres gives a quick salute. “I’ll head out and get started then.”
“Hannah, Floyd and I must return to Octavinelle to take care of the dorm,” Jade cups her cheek. “Please take care of yourself. I will call you tonight.” He finishes in a soft voice. He places a quick kiss on the girl's lips and gives Hera a quick scratch on the chin before following Floyd and Samara down the hall towards the mirror chamber.
Hannah nods, giving him a kiss on the cheek back. She also gives Samara a smile as she walks past with Floyd.
“Man…” Ruggie groans. “Why’d Leona have to put US in charge? Talk about drawing the short straw.”
Ash looks at him. “Because we usually take up his duties anyway. Let’s just get it done and over with.”
Rook squeezes Ash’s hand. “It means the Roi des Lions has great faith in you, Monsieur Dent-de-Lion, ma chatonne. The dorm is his pride – he knows he can trust the two of you with it.”
“Yeah, well trust doesn’t fill an empty stomach. There better be some T-bone steaks in it for me later, or it won’t be worth it!”
Ash shakes her head at the hyena’s ridiculousness.
“Yes, I suppose so. Yet another reason we need them to make it back safe and sound.”
The office door is thrown open and Keres runs out, bolting past the Savannaclaw, and former Savannaclaw, students. “ROOK! I’M STEALING LEO TO HACK INTO IGNIHYDE!” She yells back as she runs down the hall.
“Okay!” Rook calls back.
From the opposite way, Jack runs up. “Ruggie! I got your text. What’s this about Leona getting kidnapped by the guys who attacked the school?!” It takes him a moment to notice Ash, but when he does, his eyes go wide. “Holy shit, Ash. What happened to you?!”
“A lot of things, but you pretty much summed it up, and when all of this is over, I’m going to lay down, sleep, and never wake up.” The feline closes her eyes and leans against Rook. “Once everyone is accounted for, I’m coming back to Pomefiore.” Her voice then dips to a low whisper. “I’m not sure what you’re planning, but I’m helping.”
Rook looks down at her. “I’m not planning anything, ma chatonne.” He whispers back.
“Save it.” Ash snaps, she knew a lie when she saw it, and she also knew Rook a lot better than to believe he wasn’t planning something.
Ruggie turns to Jack completely. “We need to round up everyone in the dorm and check in with ‘em. Could you give us a hand?”
“Oh, sure.” Jack nods. “Happy to.” He glances at Hannah. “Hey, why are you all banged up? Did they beat you guys up too?”
“Me and Yuume were with everyone when everything happened.” She responds.
The NRC Tribe members were together at Ramshackle when it occurred. We were in the midst of a VDC postmortem when they attacked. Vil, Jamil, and Grim were all taken just as Leona was.
Hannah nods.
Surprise fills Jack’s face. “They got Vil and Jamil too?!”
“And the freshman that tried to rescue Grim were gravely injured.”
“Argh… why are you guys so reckless!” Jack groans.
Rook looks between everyone still in the group. “I must return to my dorm and fulfill my duties as vice housewarden. I cannot leave it all to Samara, but… Monsieur Fier-à-bras.” He looks specifically at Jack. “Would you be so kind as to go with Hannah to check up on our injured comrades in the infirmary?”
“Actually, that would help me too. You can see if any students from our dorm are there.” Ruggies suggests.
“Bring back some basic medical supplies if they can spare it. I’m sure there are plenty of us that need some medical attention but don’t want to go to the infirmary. That place is probably packed as is.” Ash adds.
“Got it. I’ll be in touch once I know more.” Jack looks at Hannah and holds out a hand. “Let’s go.”

TWST Book 6 - 5 Overblot Crew Gets Kidnapped
So this is broken into 3 parts. (All in this same post, I promise) Vil and Jamil have already been taken, but Riddle, Leona, and Azul are in other places, so they get written too. Pls enjoy!
Riddle (And Zero)
Zero tenses, taking a small step back as the horse shakes his head and paws at the ground. “Are they usually this antsy?” She asks, moving closer to Riddle. She had never been this close to an animal of this size.
Riddle puts a hand on her lower back, trying to calm his girlfriend. “Not at all, you don’t have to be so tense. Vorpal is very well trained; he won’t harm you in any way.” He takes her hand and gently places it on the horse’s neck. “You can pet him all you want, just stay away from his mouth.” Zero nods, beginning to rub the horse’s neck with slow motions. Riddle turns to look at Silver, who had just come into the barn, walking over to the stall next to them. “What’s the matter? The horses are rather agitated today.”
Silver shrugs. “Maybe a big storm’s coming. Animals can sense when something’s not right.”
Zero takes a step away from Vorpal to join the conversation, not willing to be touching the horse without her full attention on it. “They are actually a great indicator for certain natural disasters.” There’s a loud bang and the ground shakes. Zero immediately jumps up and moves as far away from Vorpal as the small stall will allow.
Riddle turns to look outside. “What was that?!”
Zero, taking a shaky breath, opens the stall door and walks into the barn hallway. “I have no idea…”
“We should go check on everyone.” Silver suggests.
Zero and Riddle nod in agreement, the latter now leaving the stall. Zero takes his hand in hers, and the three of them start to head outside. Just as they exit the barn, Sebek comes running up to them.
“Silver! Riddle! Are you hurt?! Oh, hello Zero.”
Silver nods. “We’re fine. Is everyone else alright?”
Zero lets go of Riddle’s hand and uses the screen on her robot arm’s wrist to send a message to Idia.
Zero: U alive? Zero: Did u hear that noise? It was like a loud bang Zero: Any ideas wat it was or wat happened? Maybe send Ortho?
“Yes,” Sebek says, responding to Silver. “All club members and horses are safe and accounted for. What was that noise? And those tremors?”
“I don’t know,” Riddle answers. “My guess is that the school’s barrier is under attack– What?!” He points out the people flying in the sky.
Zero freezes in place when she spots them, her eyes going wide. She immediately recognizes them for what they are: STYX soldiers. They had a couple of different names: STYX soldiers, STYX security, the Ferrymen, and the Charon, but this group was specifically known as the Charon Spec-tech unit. She shakes her head, hugging herself. “No… please tell me I’m dreaming…” she murmurs to herself.
Riddle looks over at her worriedly. “Zero? What’s wrong?” She just continues shaking her head, trembling as she watches the soldiers land.
“Hexa Team, reporting in. Subject A is in our sights. Zero Shroud also sighted. Moving in for capture.”
Zero falls to her knees, tears welling up in her eyes. “No… why are you here… why…” Her voice cracks.
“Just who are these intruders?! I’ve never seen their armor before!” Sebek asks, his voice bordering on yelling.
“They’re not our allies, that’s for sure.” Silver responds.
Riddle steps forward. “Entering campus without permission is strictly forbidden. You are in serious violation of the rules!”
Panic sets into Zero, and she starts breathing rapidly. “WHY ARE YOU HERE?! WHAT ARE YOUR ORDERS?!” She screams at the soldiers.
“We are prohibited from disclosing mission details.”
“I DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR MISSION! LEAVE!” She grips her shirt near her chest, heart pounding.
“Your presence has been requested at Styx HQ, Miss Shroud.”
“If you need someone to take charge, have Idia do it! I want nothing to do with any of this!” The tears in her eyes begin to overflow, cascading down her face.
Riddle looks to Zero for a split second before looking back at the intruders. His eyes are filled with hate as he speaks. “By my authority as Heartslabyul housewarden, I authorize the use of magic on these intruders! To battle!”
“Rodger!” The two Diasomnia students shout.
“Subject A and Miss Shroud are hostile. Requesting permission to engage.
Zero stands. “PERMISSION DENIED! You have been told to leave! That’s an order!
The soldiers completely ignore her. “...Permission granted.”
“You dare to set foot on our territory without authorization?! Now you have nowhere to run!” Riddle raises his magic pen.
“I told you to leave! Zero to Infinity!”
“Rgh…” Sebek falls to one knee. “I’ve hit them with loads of spells, but they remain undaunted!”
“Maybe their equipment nullifies magic,” Silver suggests.
“It does,” Zero responds.
“This doesn’t bode well for us…”
“Technomantic capture beam, fully charged. Firing now.” One of the soldiers fires a large beam at Riddle. He screams as he falls to the ground.
“RIDDLE!” Zero doubles down on her attacks, managing to send one of the charon flying with the pure speed and strength granted to her through ‘Zero to Infinity’. She turns, getting ready to launch at another one, only for two of them to come down on her, pinning her to the ground.
“Gah… I think I’m… paralyzed…” Riddle chokes out.
“Subject A subdued. Securing now.”
“Administering sedative to Miss Shroud.”
Zero tries to struggle and get out of their grip. When a needle is pressed into her neck, she tries to fight harder, but gets nowhere as the drug is injected into her body.
“ZERO!” Riddle manages to send a huge burst of flame towards her, aiming specifically at the charon holding her down.
“Target has resumed hostile activity. All personnel, fall back.
Riddle manages to somehow get on his elbows. “You brought me to my knees…” His voice is filled with rage. “You’ve drugged someone precious to me. You have some nerve! I’LL HAVE ALL OF YOUR HEADS FOR THIS!”
“Stop all of this…” Zero begs, the sedative already starting to kick in, making her feel drowsy. “please…”
“Technomatic capture beam fully recharged. Firing.”
“No!”
Riddle lets out another scream as the beam hits him once more. After a moment, he stops as he goes limp.
“I hate you…” Zero cries as she begins to fall asleep.
“Target is subdued. Securing and returning to HQ. Miss Shroud also acquired.” Two soldiers grab the unconscious students, being considerably more rough with Riddle than Zero.
Sebek prepares to launch another spell, “WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?! WHERE ARE YOU TAKING RIDDLE AND ZERO!”
Silver grabs the freshman’s shoulder, stopping him. “Sebek, look at the sky. There are more of them flying around the school. It seems they were after Riddle from the start”
“I concur,” he responds, looking at the sky. “They referred to him as the ‘subject’ from the moment they landed, and barely gave us a second glance. They also referred to Zero as ‘Miss Shroud’, and took her too. Her brother is the houswarden of Ignyhide, right?! Could they be targeting the housewardens?!”
“Hard to say, but we’d better get back to Diasomnia right away.”
Sebek nods. “Right. Malleus, please be safe.”
Leona (w/ Spade and Keres)
“Ruggie, I understand, but why me?!”  Spade complains as they enter the botanical garden. “I’m not even dating that jeck anymore!”
Ruggie holds the door open for Keres. “What even happened between you two? No one ever filled me in on it.”
Keres nods at Ruggie in thanks. “Leona accused her of cheating, and then became a total fucking dick about it.” She explains.
“Pretty much,” Spade says with a sigh. She looks at Keres, “Why are you even here? Don’t tell me Professor Trein got onto you about this.”
Keres shakes her head as the group continues to walk further into the botanical gardens. “Nope, but me and Ruggie were going to work on some homework together after class before her got chewed out by Trein on Leona’s behalf. Which doesn’t even make sense!”
“Right?! This is Leona’s problem!” The hyena shouts.
“If that man wants to repeat the year AGAIN, that’s on him. Let him repeat it, he’s not my problem.”
“I don’t know why they don’t just kick him out at this point.”
Ruggie sighs. “Leonaaa~” he groans. “I know you’re in here. Your History of Magic report was due today, and ONCE AGAIN you failed to turn it in. Professor Trein almost burst a blood vessel. Now he’s on OUR case, telling us to bring you in!” He calls. “Think about what you’re putting ME through!”
“Get your ass out here before I find you and drag you out!” Spade threatens. “This shouldn’t be my problem, but it’s been made my problem!”
Theres a crash from above them as the ceiling above them shatters.
“Huh?! What was that?!”
“Shit!”
As glass shards begin to fall, Spade grabs Keres, who was closest to her, and immediately casts a barrier over the two of them.
“Ack! The glass ceiling’s coming down!”  Ruggie lifts his arms in a attempt to cover his head when suddenly a barrier is cast over himself.
“C’mon, Ruggie. You’re a sophomore. You should know how to insta-cast a barrier by now.” Leona says, coming over.
“Leona!” Ruggie calls out in relief.
“UGH! Of course you only come out when there’s some sort of danger!” Spade spits.
Suddenly, more of the soldiers, the same that had attacked Zero and Riddle, come down through the whole in the ceiling. They’re fast and in seconds they are landing in front of the group.
“What the hell?!” Keres jumps back, pulling her out her pen out of reflex.
“Penta Team, reporting in. We’ve got eyes on Subject B. Moving in for capture.”
Ruggie lets out a growl. “What’s WITH these guys? I know I’ve never smelled ‘em before. I’d remember a stench that bad.”
“I don’t know who you are,” Spade starts, pulling out her own magic pen. “But you sure as hell don’t belong here.”
“Agreed.”
“Wait,” Leona holds up a hand to stop everyone, “that insignia on their suits…”
Ruggie shakes his head with a smirk. “I dunno who they are, but they gotta be nuts to take you on.” He looks at Keres, “Me and Keres will draw their attention, then you and Spade blast ‘em and–”
“Nope. I surrender.”
“WHAT?!” Spade snaps her head to look at Leona. “Are you fucking insane? Have you just fuckin’ lost it?”
The soldiers pause for a moment, “... Turn over all magical items in your possession.”
“Here you go,” Leona steps forward and tosses over his magic pen. “That’s my magical pen. Take it.”
“He’s actually fucking lost it…” Keres mutters to herself.
“But why?!” Ruggie whispers. “There’s only three of ‘em. You could take these guys in your sleep!”
Spade grabs his arms and drags him back closer to them. “You and I could easily take them down, why are you just giving in?”  She whisper-yells.
“Yeah, what happened to the ‘almighty Leona Kingscholar’, the one whose gonna kick Malleus’ ass.” Keres mocks. “What the fuck is wrong with you!”
Leona shushs them. “See their vests? Those aren’t padded with wods of cash, you know. That’s anti-magic plate. Don’t do anything to get on their bad side.”
Ruggie looks at him in shock. “Anti-magic plate? Ain’t that what magic marshal uniforms are made of?”
“Familiar, are ya? Whats, did you have a run-in with the law back home after pullin’ some magical stunt?”
Ruggie looks away. “Maybe… Waaay long ago…”
“FOCUS.”
The hyena shakes his head. “Right, this ain’t the time for a trip down memory lane. We’re in serious trouble here!”
“I’ve seen that insignia on their suits a few times before, when I was at the palace.” Leona starts explaining. “I think these guys are Ferrymen.”
“The hell are Ferrymen.” Spade asks.
Leona looks at Spade, a stern look in his eyes that she recognizes from when she’d try to hide her injuries from him. “Look, just keep you tail between your legs, and don’t do anything funny.”
“Huh?”
“Object ovnfirmed to be offical Night Raven magical equipment. Subject B shows no signs of hostility. We request you come with us.”
Ruggies psutters for a moment, trying to find the right words while Keres stands there with her mouth gaping. “Wait, Leona?!”
Leona turns to face the hyena. “Ruggie, you and Ash are in charge of Savannaclaw ‘til I get back.” He looks at Spade, an almost sad look in his eyes. “Then again, I can’t be sure I’ll come back at all…”
“Wait, you can’t be serious!”
Ruggie’s jaw drops as Leona starts walking towards the Ferrymen. “What…?”
Spade grabs Leona’s arm, eyes hard. “If you think I’m just going to let them take you, you’re out of your damn mind.”
“Putting up a fight is only going ot get everyone here hurt, and I ain’t exactly keen on seeing you injured again because of me.” He meets her gaze, guilt in his eyes. “Seeing what happened to you a couple months ago was enough for me.” Spade’s grip loosens in shock, and she pulls away, letting the Ferrymen take him.
Azul (and Idia)
“So it is a strategy game, based purely on skill and knowledge,” Glitch looks at Azul. “No luck or chance involved?”
“Exactly, nothing is left up to chance. It’s all about out-smarting your opponent.” Azul confirms.
“And the goal is for this piece,” she points out one of the chess pieces, “to be taken out by your opponent, correct?”
“Yes,” Mika says. “That’s the king.”
Glitch looks at deep-sea mer. “But is that not the weakest piece? It cannot do much more than one of the pawns.” She tilts her head. “Why would it be the king? Kings are usually the ones who hold all the power. It is why they are kings.”
Mika shakes her head with a shrug. “Asking the wrong person.”
Idia gives the ancient being a dead-pan stare. “Have you seriously never seen anyone play chess?”
“I have seen the board plenty of times, but I have never seen anyone play, nor have I played it myself.”
“You’re worse than a normie then… Geez…” Idia rolls his eyes.
“‘Normie’?” Glitch furrows her brows, not understanding the term.
Mika places a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry about it. Once they finish the game, you can give it a shot.”
“I was surprised to see you here, Glitch,” Azul says, moving his bishop. “It’s not often I see you at all.”
Said being watches as he moves the piece with great interest. “Mika and Spade were playing a board game the other day, and I showed interest in learning. I found the game amusing, and Mika suggested I come and check out this club. So here I am.”
Just as she finishes speaking, the building shakes, and some of the pieces fall. Glitch is quick to catch one of the kings as it rolls off the table towards her.
“It seems one of the kings has fallen…”
Mika stands as there is a loud crash that comes from outside.
“Erk! What is happening?!” Azul grips tightly onto the table.
“I wish I knew…”
“AUGH! I was totally winning that match! Now the chessboard’s all messed up!” Idia complains.
Azul gives his fellow housewarden a bewildered look. “That hardly seems relevant right now!” He gets up from his chair. “This is clearly an emergency!”
“Leave it to Idia to care more about a game than what’s happening in reality.” Mika says with a sigh.
“Ortho, give me a sitrep.”
“Roger!” The humanoid gets up and moves closer to his brother. “The school’s barrier is under heavy fire from technomantic beams. It’s already been breached in several places. Multiple non-campus bio-readings detected within school grounds.” He says, his voice cheery.
“WHAT?!” Mika looks at Ortho.
“Intruders?!” Azul stands and Glitch simply turns to look out the window.
“How many?” Idia asks.
Ortho tilts his head for a moment before speaking again. “Presently detecting 15 life signs, plus additional heat signatures in teh air. Intruders may increase in number.”
“That isn’t good,” Mika turns to look at Idia. “How are you so calm?”
Idia completely ignores Mika’s question. “So they got beams that can breach the school’s barrier. What about their gear?”
“Regardless of what it is they have, I will be able to deal with it promptly.” For all but a second, Glitch’s eyes flash white.
“Gauging from the height and movement speed, they are either on brooms or technomantic flying machines. They are also firing magic projectiles and electric techomantic beams.” Ortho is interrupted by the sound of more crashes and lasers from outside. “Based on the performance of their mobile apparatuses and their technomantic energy circuits, this is Styx-made gear.”
“It matters not what it is or who made it, I will be able to destroy it.”
“Let’s not…” Idia sighs. “Uggghhh, this sucks. Guess that means they’re Ferrymen.”
Azul looks between the two juniors. “How are you two so calm?! Our school is under attack! We need to contact the other housewardens and–”
“Three flying objects approaching rapidly,” Ortho cuts him off. “Landing in three, two, on…” Just as he finishes, the glass windows shatter and three soldier-looking things come into the classroom.
Nona Team, reporting in. We have visual on Subject C. Idia Shroud and the technomantic humanoid Ortho also sighted.” One of them speaks.
Glitch finally stands, silently turned around to face the intruders.
“It appears we’re out of time. All freshmen, evacuate!” Azul orders. “By my authority as Octavinelle housewarden, I authorize–”
The world around Glitch begins to move and shift, as if reality itself was vibrating as she stares down the intruders. Parts of the metal gear behind to spark.
“Chill, Azul,” Idia turns to look at Glitch. “Stop that.”
The sparks stop and the world stops moving as Glitch moves her gaze away from intruders to Idia.
“Don’t try and put up a fight. Just stay cool.” He continues.
Azul looks at him, biwildered. “What?”
“Are you serious?” Mika turns slightly towards Idia, making sure not to take her eyes off of the intruders.
“That’s the Charon spec-tech unit.”
“You’re gonna have to explain further,” Mika growls.
Idia jumps slightly at Mika’s harsh tone. “Specifically, they’re member of the Charon, a special technomantic security force with Styx. Just take your hands off your magical pen and put your hands behind your head.” He looks at Glitch. “You… just stop doing whatever it is you do…”
Glitch looks back at the intruders as she slowly sits back down. “Are they not a threat?”
“Not necessarily.”
“As long as you follow my brother’s recommendations… Your chance of sustaining an injury drops by 87%, Azul Ashengrotto.” Ortho says.
“Ah… All right,” Azul does as Ortho says.
“Target has surrendered. We request you come with us.”
Idia lets out a heavy sigh. “Dude, you guys are being way too rough. You’re gonna get sued one of these days.” He shake his head. “You’re not even going after a Phantom here. This huy’s a generally reasonable person. Couldn’t you at least talk with him first?”
“We are prohibited from disclosing mission details.”
“Hold on, what is happening right now?!” Mika fully turns to Idia.
“Ugggh, here we go with the ‘prohibited’ stuff.”
“Your presence has been requested at Styx HQ, Mister Shroud.”
Glitch looks at Idia. “‘Mister Shroud’?”
Idia glances at Glitch, but returns his attention to the Ferrymen. “They want me? Are Mom and Dad out of town or something?”
“We are prohibited from disclosing the location of personnel.”
Idia sighs again. “K. …Uh, I mean, roger. Let’s go, Ortho.” He starts heading over to the Ferrymen.
“Coming, Idia!”
Mika opens her mouth in shock, noises come out as she tries to figure out what to say, but no actual words come out.
Azul finds the words that Mika can’t. “Idia, what is going on?! Why would they want YOU?!”
Idia pauses and turns around to look at them. “Yeah, yeah, I know…” He rolls his eyes. “I’ll tell you later. Basically, ‘do nothing’ is the optimal strat for this random event.” He starts walking back towards the intruders. “Geez, there’s a ranking-based event for my fav character today. I was gonna push it hard… This sucks.”
“Are we seriously just not supposed to do anything?!”

TWST Book 6 - 5 NRC Tribe Final Meeting
Little AN here: We did shift the timeline around just a bit, so this takes place 2 days after the overblot instead of however long it is in canon.
‘You know,’ Yuume starts signing, ‘there are a lot nicer places to hold these kinds of meetings. It’s not like everyone still stays here anymore.’
‘I just feel like we’re constantly invading your space. I’m sorry.’ Hannah responds.
Yuume shakes her head. ‘You’re fine, I’m pretty used to it at this point. It’s not a big issue, really.’
Epel does his best to follow along with the conversation, occasionally mimicking the different signs the two girls make as they converse in sign language. He’s been making strides in understanding and ‘speaking’ the language, but he still struggles when they sign so fast.
It doesn’t take Hannah long to notice Epel trying to follow along, and she starts to sign much slower, beginning to speak aloud as she signs. “If you’re sure, though, I’m sure Scarabia could host these meetings. I mean, Kalim is always having parties anyway.” She says with a sigh.
‘That’s true, I’m sure Jamil hates having to deal with that.’
“Yeah,” Hannah lets out a weak laugh, “I’m not a massive fan of all the parties myself. They can be fun every once in a while, but they can make it hard to study. I’m just thankful me and Glitch’s rooms are farther away from the main lounges.”
Ace walks over, deciding to join the conversation. “Ain’t that why you always come to Heartslabyul to study?”
Hannah nods. “Yes. Well, that and to help Deuce.”
Deuce claps his hands together and gives Hannah a thankful smile. “Between the help I get from you and Spade, I’m actually starting to do decently in class. My grades have been steadily improving!”
Ignoring Deuce, Ace continues. “That, and you like the tea and snacks Trey always makes when you come over to do homework with us.” He accuses.
Hannah laughs. “That IS an added bonus!”
‘Trey does make really good sweets.’ Yuume signs.
The door to Ramshackle opens, and Samara rushes in. “Sorry for running late! I got held up a bit.”
Kalim is quick to wave his hands. “It’s okay! Don’t worry, we didn’t start without you!” He comforts.
“Now that everyone’s here, I feel like I can make this comment.” Jamil starts. “I thought that the NRC Tribe had been disbanded.” He looks over specifically at Rook and Vil. “The culture fair is over, after all, and we’re back in our own dorms.”
“Non, non, non!” Rook is quick to respond. “Roi du Poison chose to simply put it on indefinite hiatus.”
Jamil raises a brow. “Okay, if that’s what you want to call it.” He shakes his head. “Regardless, this was sudden.”
Kalim nods. “Yeah! I didn’t expect to get an NRC Tribe message calling us out to Ramshackle after class. Isn’t this fun!”
“Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it either. I was going to go and do homework with Jade after class, but then I got the text so…”
Yuume waves her hand until she has Vil’s attention, who then nods at her to go ahead. ‘I’d love it if you could give me a heads up before planning something here, just so I know beforehand.’
It’s Epel who translates, talking slowly, as if unsure if he understood what she had been trying to say. When he finishes, Yuume gives him a huge smile, excitedly nodding. He gives her a small smile back. “I’m slowly learnin’ and getti’n the hang of it.”
Ace scoffs and looks away from the two, muttering, “loser.”
Epel glares at him, opening his mouth to retort, but Vil cuts him off.
“I apologize, Yuume. I will make sure to let you know ahead of time before planning something like this again.”
‘Thank you.’
“Now,” Vil looks around at everyone in the room, “onto the topic of this meeting. I want to thank you all for coming. Grim couldn’t make it, of course, but there’s nothing to be done about that at the moment.”
All of the freshmen look away, refusing to meet anyone else’s eyes. Yuume is the first to make eye contact. ‘Do you have any updates on him?’ She signs, looking at Vil.
“I believe she is asking if you know anything about him,” Rook speaks.
Vil shakes his head. “I apologize, the house wardens have not been given any updates on the status of Grim. I will let you know the second I know something.”
Yuume gives a sad smile, shaking her head as if to tell him not to apologize.
Ace moves, butting in between Epel and Yuume to be able to give the girl a small side hug. “I’m sure he’ll be back in no time.”
“Yeah, he’ll be back soon.” Deuce chimes in.
Hannah puts a hand on Yuume’s shoulder. “Zero said Grim didn’t look too bad when they brought him to Crowley, so I know he’ll be okay.” She gives her a small squeeze before returning her attention to Vil.
Once the attention seems to have returned to him, Vil continues. “There are some important matters I wanted to discuss with you all. First, I’ll touch on what happened the day of the VDC. Allow me to apologize for betraying your trust.” Deuce and Kalim both make noises of confusion, and Vil looks at them specifically. “I realized we would lose, and my solution was to curse my rival. It was the ugliest possible thing I could’ve done. I am truly sorry.” He bows his head to everyone.
Epel lets out a loud noise of frustration. “Would you quit apologizing! I’m not used to you apologizing like this…”
“Well, at least your curse didn’t succeed, right?” Jamil offers.
“Yeah! You didn’t harm a single hair on Neige’s head.” Kalim shouts.
Hannah leans in closer to Ace, Deuce, and Yuume. “At this point, I’m used to this kind of thing happening.” She whispers, and Yuume nods eagerly in agreement.
“That is only because you, Rook, and the rest of the group stopped me. Yet I still hurt you all when I overblotted. That incident could’ve ended my life,” Vil looks at his hands, “or any of yours.”
Ash looks between Vil and Rook, her ears pin back as she once again thinks about how close she was to losing both of her lovers. When Vil looks at her, she moves her gaze to the ground.
“You exhausted your magical reserves fighting me, then immediately had to perform. No matter how determined you were, I highly doubt you were able to give 100 percent.”
Epel stomps his foot. “That’s not true!” He shakes his head. “I thought it was our best performance ever. Even despite everything that happened before it!”
Deuce is quick to step forward and nod his head in agreement. “We crushed it out there, Vil!”
“You all still did really well!” Hannah chimes in.
“Well…” Ace starts, “‘crushed it’ is kinda subjective.”
Deuce’s head snaps to glare at Ace, and Hannah is quick to join him. “Dude?! Are you seriously going to debate this?!”
Hera, who had been nicely sitting at Hannah’s feet, gets up, bounding over to Ace and biting his leg. The man lets out a yelp, barely managing not to kick Hera away.
“Ow!” Ace glares down at Hera, whose tail swishes back and forth a few times before she goes back to sit at Hannah’s feet. He rolls his eyes, turning his attention to Epel and Deuce. “Okay, yes, we fought for our lives and won, then lucked out big time when Malleus fixed the stage for us. Then we busted our tails and got through the whole performance, start to finish. It was incredible, and I agree we did the best we’d ever done.” He looks at Vil, “that said…”
Jamil is quick to pick up on what Ace is saying. “You mean just because we were happy with it, doesn’t mean the audience was.”
Epel’s face goes lax, “Oh…”
Samara nods. “The adrenaline was still high when we performed, so we didn’t even notice all the small mistakes we were making at the time.”
“Ace, Jamil, and Samara have the right of it,” Vil confirms. “I’ve been reviewing our show recording with a more critical eye…” He sighs, clenching his fist. “And it’s apparent we weren’t performing at even half of our usual level. Positioning was sloppy, kicks weren’t reaching their full heights – even your fingers were all over the place. Which makes sense, given the battle you’d just fought. It was the best you could have done, yes. But you weren’t AT your best.” He crosses arms, not out of frustration or even anger, but as if subtly trying to hug himself. “It was critical for you to be at your best when you performed, and I failed to make that happen. Our loss at the VDC is entirely on me.” He pauses for a moment and then looks at the ground. “Some leader I turned out to be.” He mutters.
The room is quiet; no one knowing what to say in the moment. Ash’s tail curls around herself. Hannah reaches down to pet Hera.
It’s Jamil who breaks the silence. “Vil, I understand your point. But as we saw during the VDC rehearsal, Neige’s group was already popular. Our performance wasn’t going ot change that. If we’d been at our best, that doesn’t mean we would’ve performed perfectly. And even if we had, we still could’ve lost.” He shakes his head. “You can’t always beat someone that popular with hard work or a solid performance.”
Kalim is quick to perk up. “Jamil’s right. You don’t have to worry, Vil. It’s not your fault!”
“I agree.” Hannah looks at Jamil, then to Yuume. “Plus, it’s not like you’re the only one to overblot this year.” She quickly starts counting on her fingers. “You’re actually the fifth.”
“I suppose.” Vil shakes his head and moves his arms to put his hands on his hips. “Though bear in mind, Neige’s group has struggled and worked hard as well. I dismissed their performance in the heat of the moment when I first saw it, but…” He looks around the room. “Endearing yourselves to the masses and impressing them with skill are equally valid approaches. We simply emphasized different things. None of you have an inkling how much work Neige’s group put in, do you?”
Epel’s eyebrows furrow. “What do you mean by that?”
“I’m sure they put in just as much as we did,” Samara says, quickly checking something on her phone.
“The first time I co-starred in a movie with Neige,” Vil starts, thinking back. “He would always heave and say he had chores to do, while I stuck around for rehearsal. It made me SO angry. I judged him for coasting on his natural talent. But later, I learned something.” He looks at Yuume, knowing that her and Grim had helped the dwarves on the day of the VDC. “Those kids Neige performed with? He’s lived with them for years. They’ve all been supporting each other without any help since long before he and I met.”
“Whoa. You mean like since his child actor days?” Deuce tries to confirm.
Vil nods. “Yes. I don’t know the particulars beyond that, mind you. He would do his chores, attend rehearsal, then go home and do more chores. He’d practice in what spare time he could find.” He looks at Samara. “And yet, he’d always greet my sister and I with a cheerful, singsongy ‘good morning.’ I can’t imagine how hard he’s had it. After all, my life’s been quite different.”
“Golly…”
“Neige has never divulged his personal history to the press, but…” Vil turns to Rook. “I’m guessing you knew the truth, Rook?”
Rook pauses for a moment, but then gives a curt nod. “Oui. Much of Roi des Neige’s charm comes from his endearing smile. But it’s also the smile of someone who’s overcome untold hardships. That’s why so many people are drawn to it. I also hear he donates most of his pay to charity.”
Vil lets out a sigh full of exasperation. “You certainly have the inside scoop. I’m fairly certain that fact hasn’t been made public either.”
“It’s well-known among his most dedicated fans,” Rook says, looking entirely too proud of himself.
Ash gives him a deadpan look. “In other words, only you?”
Rook shakes his head and reaches over to lightly pinch Ash’s tail. She jolts, pouting and tucking her tail around her tighter.
“I see…” Vil watches the interaction closely. All three of them have done a lot of talking these past four days, but there was still much to discuss between them. There were still a lot of insecurities, and a lot more to discuss, but they were working through it, slowly but surely. “Well, I have it on good authority that he donated his VDC prize money, too. To aid underprivileged children with their futures.”
“I had no idea they’d been through all that together…” Kalim murmurs.
“Neither did I,” Samara says from beside him. “Mira had mentioned to me previously that they both did a lot of charity work together, but that’s about it.”
Vil winces at the mention of his sister. He had tried to get in contact with his sister once since the incident, but was brushed off and asked to allow her some time. He takes a deep breath and straightens, mentally smacking himself to bring his focus back. “There, you see? If you had known of Neige’s background before the VDC, would you have fought so hard to win? Could you have voted for yourselves in good conscience? Would you have been able to judge Neige’s group on merit alone, without sympathy getting in the way?”
Both Deuce and Epel look away, neither meeting Vil’s gaze.
“I won’t speak for the others, but Kalim definitely couldn’t have done that,” Jamil says. Hannah nods in agreement.
“Hey!” Kalim turns to Jamil. “That’s not true… I mean…” He starts to backtrack, “oof, this is hard…”
“I still woulda voted for myself in a heartbeat,” Ace says with a scoff. “The VDC isn’t a competition for saddest backstory. It’s about who performs the best on stage.”
“And there you’ve struck the heart of the matter.”
A look of shock crosses Ace’s face at Vil’s words. “I have?”
Vil nods. “You. Me. Neige. Everyone on that stage has their own story. Which is why results are what matter in show business. NRC Tribe’s performance lost to Royal Sword Academy’s. That’s all there is to it. And my actions had a direct, negative impact on us. It was a blunder of epic proportions. So I’d like to offer you all a token of my apology.”
Yuume shakes her head. ‘You don’t have to do that, you’ve already apologized enough.’
“Seven’s knows you’ve apologized enough…” Epel grumbles.
Ignoring Epel’s grumbling, Vil continues with another question. “Do you recall what was written on the VDC recruitment poster?”
“Uh… lemme think.” Ace scratches his head. “Something about ‘your shot at the bit time’...”
“It also mentioned a 50,000 thaumark prize to be split among the winners,” Deuce adds.
“Precisely. That was to entice people to audition.” Vil confirms. “Since I was responsible for our team losing out on the prize money…” he takes a moment to look around the room. “I’ll be paying out the 50,000 myself.”
The room is filled with the sounds of shock from everyone but Rook and Ash. Yuume looks at Vil with wide eyes.
“Aint nobody asked fer yer money!” Epel shouts.
“It’s a performance fee, plus compensation for the month of nonstop rehearsals. It’s not an unreasonable sum when you look at it that way.” Vil explains.
“But–!”
“Vil, you don’t have to–”
“We’re not expecting anything from you!”
Vil raises a hand, “‘You cannot buy my feelings with money.’ That’s what I said to my manager, yet here I am, unable to think of any better recompense.” He shakes his head. “The irony isn’t lost on me, I assure you. But I simply won’t be able to move on otherwise. So please,” he takes a moment to look at every person in the room, “accept it. For my benefit, if not your own.”
“Okay, sure!” All eyes turn to look at Kalim. “I’ll take it.”
“Kalim?!” Hannah shouts, astonished.
“Just to be clear…” he looks at Vil. “I still don’t think this is your fault, Vil. But if that’s what’ll help you move on, then I’ll take the money. And now that I’ve accepted it…” He turns to look at Yuume, a huge smile on his face. “I’m going to donate my share to the Ramshackle dorm!”
Yuume coughs, raising her hands to sign, but it's as if she buffers for a moment before actually making the motions. ‘WHAT?!’ She stares at Kalim with wide eyes, a bewildered look on her face, and she’s not the only one.
Jamil sighs. “You and your snap decisions. Let me guess, the story about Neige gave you the idea?” He says, exasperated.
“Pfft, no! …Well, maybe a little. But also, I was truly shocked when we stayed here. It’s SUPER run-down!”
Yuume pouts slightly. ‘If you think it’s bad now, you should’ve seen it when I first got here.’
“The hot water ran out when I showered,” Kalim continues. “The roof leaked when it rained, it was always drafty… I’d never lived like that before! They sure don’t call it Ramshackle for nothing!” He laughs.
Hannah shakes her head.
“I can’t argue with that.” Jamil mumbles.
“Yuume and the ghosts living here were such gracious hosts during our training camp. I honestly had a blast! So I want to give Ramshackle a little facelift as a token of my gratitude.” He looks at Vil. “The money’s ours, right? Which means we can use it how we want!”
Rook places a hand on his chest dramatically. “Roi d’or, your noble heart makes you worthier than ever of your golden appellation.”
Jamil pinches his eyebrows. “Kalim’s gesture would feel hollow if I didn’t follow his example. I accept my share of the pay and will donate it to Ramshackle as well. I was never in it for the money anyway.
“I made a deal with you, Vil,” Epel says, crossing his arms. “But at the end of the day, I still couldn’t out-charm Neige.” He shakes his head. “It wouldn’t feel right to take your money when I couldn’t hold up my end of the bargain. But I understand what you’ve been through, and I know how hard this is for you.” He looks Vil dead in the eye. “If you say another apple-pickin’ apology–” He cuts himself off, taking a deep breath. “I’ll take the money,” he turns to Yuume, “and put it all towards fixin’ up Ramshackle dorm!” He gives her a big smile. “Wouldn’t it be great to give it the ol’ spit shine and surprise Grim when he gets back?”
Tears fall from Yuume’s eyes. ‘You… you don’t have to do that…’
“But we want to.”
Yuume shakes her head in disbelief, hiding her face in her hands.
“You can have my share as well,” Samara says, joining in. “I don’t need it. Azul practically pays me to make sure Floyd comes in.” She gives Yuume a gentle smile.
“Then I’ll split my share with you 50-50,” Hannah says. Hera gets up and rubs up against Yuume’s leg. “I got placed into a good dorm; you got stuck with this place. You deserve to live in a decent place. You put all your money and everything towards this dorm, and then we can split mine to get us something decent and nice to treat ourselves!”
“I was already planning to put mine towards fixing this dorm. Everyone deserves a decent place to live.” Ash says.
Yuume lets out a sob into her hands.
Epel’s heart breaks, and he pulls the prefect in for a hug.
“Maaan…” Ace groans. “Talk about peer pressure.”
Deuce looks away. “Rrgh… that money would go a long way for my family. But still…” he trails off.
“Oh, I’m taking the money. If Vil’s offering, who am I to say no? He put us through hell. And I’ve been eyeing some new clothes and shoes lately.” Ace looks at Deuce. “Let’s be real about this. We auditioned because we wanted the money. Why hold back now that you’re getting paid?”
“I know… It just doesn’t sit right,” He says, looking conflicted.
“Deuce,” Vil says, getting the man’s attention. “No one should donate the money because they feel pressured to. I’m aware this won’t entirely make up for my behavior. But when I sent out that call for applicants, I promised a share of the winnings. Hence, I am simply acting in good faith. You all saved my life.” He crosses his arms. “Now hold your head high and claim what you deserve.”
“Al- Alright. THANK YOU, SIR!!”
Vil sighs. “Were you listening at all? You don’t have to thank me for something you deserve.
“I shall donate my share to Ramshackle, as previously agreed upon. The beautiful time we shared together, sweating and striving toward a common goal, is all the reward I need.” Rook says, going all out with the dramatics. “Who could ask for anything more?!”
Ash shakes her head, a fond smile forming on her face.
“Woohoo!” Kalim shouts. “We can make so many repairs with this much money! Fixing the leaks is a given, but it’d be nice to replace the faded wallpaper and curtains, too! I mean, this whole place just lacks pizzazz. Oh, I know! We should reupholster the couches!” He’s all but running around the common room.
“Slow down.” Jamil starts, grabbing Kalim to stop him from jumping around. “Our priority should be repairing the plumbing, gas, and any other essential utilities. We’ll start by listing out the necessary repairs and seeing what the budget can cover.”
“Ahh, I can just picture the renovated splendor now.” Rook takes his hat off his head and places it on his chest.
Samara claps her hands together. “I’m so excited, I’m sure it’ll look amazing!”
“Well, I’m not gonna donate my share,” Ace says with a huff, but he quickly gives Yuume a soft look. “But, when Grim gets back, I’ll treat you both to a nice lunch at the cafeteria.”
“Good idea. I’ll throw in some lattes and dessert!” Deuce adds.
Yuume pulls away from Epel and wipes at her face. ‘Thank you… Thank you so much, everyone!’
Epel thumbs away some of the tears from her cheeks. “You don’t have to thank us; this is something we want to do.” Realizing his actions, he freezes for a moment and blushes before looking away.
Ace glares at Epel before gently patting Yuume’s head. “Quite crying, you should be excited. You’ll no longer have to live in this dump.” He smirks. “Plus, me and Deuce are gonna treat you when Grim gets back.”
Yuume sniffles and nods her head. ‘I’m looking forward to it.’
Hannah slings an arm around her. “Oh, and then later, you and me can go into town and do some shopping! Just get something nice for ourselves!”
“Yeah, you can pick out a nice new outfit or something.” Deuce looks at Ace and nudges him. “Bet she’ll look real cute in whatever she picks out, right~?”
Ace is quick to turn around as if he’s going to walk away from the conversation. “As if I care what she wears!”
Hannah’s eyes shine, and she grabs Ace’s arm, preparing to drag him back if he tries to leave. “No way. We’re totally dragging you with us. We can make it a group outing with us freshmen! We can drag Jack with us, too!” She turns to look at Epel, making sure not to lose her grip on Ace’s arm. “You’re included in this, too, Epel!”
“I guess I can’t say no to that…” Epel says, shuffling his feet.
“That would be fun! We could do it on the weekend and make a whole day out of it!” Deuce offers excitedly.
Ace, trying to get out of the conversation, turns his attention to the juniors. “Something’s been buggin’ me since you told us all that stuff about Neige.” He looks specifically at Rook. “Rook, did you vote for Royal Sword because you knew about all the work he’d put in behind the scenes?”
The self-proclaimed hunter gasps in shock, raising his hands. “Certainly not!” He shakes his head. “The explanation I gave you at the VDC was the complete truth. I voted for them because I thought their performance was more magnifique than our own.”
Ace raises a brow. “Are you suuure? You’re like this die-hard Neige fanboy and number-two member of his fan club. I can’t see how you could be objective.” Hannah releases his arm.
“I beg to differ.” Vil is quick to respond.
“Yeah, Rook isn’t the type of guy to let that change his vote,” Ash adds.
“If anything, Rook was the only person on our team who voted impartially.” Vil shifts his gaze from Ace to his boyfriend. “You knew, didn’t you, Rook? You knew our performance was abysmally sloppy compared to our rehearsals.” He accuses.
“Well…” he stalls.
“Be honest.”
Rook sighs. “Oui. I did. My position was in the back, on the left. It was the perfect spot to observe our progress. Your sweat. Your tears. Your smiles! I could see your performance growing more beautiful with every run-through! I was captivated every time we practiced. You all made my heart soar!” He furrows his brows. “... It was terribly frustrating. Yet, try as I might to compensate for our shortcomings, my body refused to cooperate. I’ve no doubt it was the same for all of you.” He looks around the room, his gaze finally settling on Ash. He eyes her bandaged hands and forearms. “We were performing under tremendous strain.” He closes his eyes. “Hence, I was forced to concede–”
Epel cuts him off. “No way, I ain’t buyin’ it, Rook! You were praisin’ us up an’ down when we finished! What was it ya said when we came offa the stage? ‘That was yer best performance yet’? Were you just jerkin’ us around?!” He shouts.
“No, Epel.”
“Yes, he did say it was a fine performance,” Vil confirms.
“The keyword is ‘fine.’” Ash continues. “It’s all about the exact working when it comes to Rook. He may have said it was our ‘finest’ performance, but he didn’t say it was the most beautiful.”
Samara shifts in her place. “I’ve always thought of Rook as someone who wouldn’t lie; he doesn’t seem like the type of person to. Instead, he’ll dance around it.”
“Oh…”
“He’d been watching us from the start, so he knew we hadn’t done our absolute best, which is why he gave us the most generous praise he could, for doing our best under the circumstances. Nevertheless, he couldn’t lie to himself and vote for the NRC Tribe in good conscience.” Vil looks at the hunter. “Isn’t that so, Rook?”
He looks away. “Your powers of perception are unparalleled, Roi du Poison.”
Ash nudges up against Rook, similar to how a cat would rub up against something. “Samara has you down to a T. You’ve never been one to lie, even to yourself.”
“It’s not really perception. You’ve always been terribly candid. Do you remember what you said when we met? We’d never spoken before, yet the first words out of your mouth were… ‘Hi there! I caught your show the other day. I’ve seen you perform–” Vil is cut off by a large crash outside, and the ground shakes slightly.
“Holy shit!” Ace is quick to grab onto Rook and Vil on instinct. In the same moment, but Epel and Ace move closer to Yuume, as if to protect her.
“What was that?!” Hannha yells. Hera jumps up into her arms, and she holds the feline close to her chest.
“I have no idea…”  Deuce moves closer to Hannah.
“An earthquake?” Epel suggests.
Rook looks outside. “No…it isn’t. Everyone, look out the window.”
Samara’s eyes go wide, and she covers her mouth with her hands. “Oh my sevens…”
“What in the world?!” Kalim gasps. “There’s a bunch of guys flying through the air! Are they on hoverboards?!”
Vil moves closer to the window to look out, while Ash moves closer to Rook, clinging to him lightly. “That’s not possible… This school has a magical barrier to keep out intruders. It’s always up when we don’t have any special events going on.”
Rook gently pets Ash’s hair. “Calm yourself, ma chatonne.” He whispers to her.
“Maybe that sound was the barrier getting breached?” Jamil suggests.
“But how…?”
Samara shakes her head. “It would take an insane amount of force and power to break through it. And considering the reputation of the students here, you would have to be stupid to attack us.”
Rook keeps his eyes on the window, and he watches as some of the people in the sky get larger. “They’re coming this way. I see one, two…” His eyes widen, and he reaches out to grab Vil. “Everyone get down!” He yells, pulling both of her partners to the ground with him, his hands moving to cover the backs of their heads and necks.
Jamil launches forward to grab Kalim and bring him to the ground, while Ace pulls Yuume into his chest and then crouches to the ground. Deuce is quick to do the same with Hannah and Hera as Samara shoves Epel to the ground and drops to the floor.
The windows are the first to go, shattering and sending glass everywhere. Rook starts to usher and move himself and his partners farther away from the window, while Jamil all but drags Kalim towards the back of the room, closer to the freshmen who had been the farthest from the windows. A second passes before the wall is blown inwards with a loud crash, and everyone screams.
Dust and debris fill the air, and Ace waves in front of him, trying to clear the air a bit to breathe as he coughs. “Yuume, Hannah, are you two okay?” Yuume nods in his chest, peeking out to look around.
“I’m okay,” Hannah calls out. She mumbles a kick thank you to Deuce as Hera lets out a worried meow, her tail all puffed.
Ash stands up, bearing her teeth, as a couple of figures step into the dorm from the giant hole in the wall. Her tail, fluffed up, sways back and forth. “Who the hell are you?!” She screams at them.
The figures almost looked like robots, completely covered in some sort of gray armor that lit up around the joints and chest with a blue light. There were several of them, one coming in after another. They all ignore Ash’s words, and one of them speaks. “Hepta Team, reporting in. We’ve got visual on Subjects D and E. Moving in for capture.”
Vil is the next to stand, his voice filled with anger. “I haven’t the faintest idea who these people are, but crashing through windows shows an appalling lack of manners. I hereby declare this an emergency! By my authority as Pomefiore housewarden, I authorise the use of magic on the intruders!”
Rook quickly gets up. “Oui!”
“Understood!” Samar pulls out her magic pen, moving Epel behind her.
“I do the same for Scarabia!” Kalim shouts. “Prepare for battle!
“Already on it,” Jamil states, already moving in front of Kalim.
“Freshmen, stay back! Do not get involved.” Vil orders. “Heartslabyul students, call your housewarden!”
“Yes, sir!” The boys reply, moving in front of Yuume and Hannah to protect them.
“Subjects D and E exhibiting hostility.” It’s a different one that speaks this time. “Requesting permission to engage…”
“If you think you’re taking anyone, you’re out of your mind!” Ash snarls. “Feline Grace!”
“Permission granted. Execute capture plan C.”
“They’re all really struggling…” Epel mutters.
Ash is thrown off the guard she had been biting. There’s a cry of pain as she hits the wall, immediately shifting back to her human form.
“ASH!” It’s Rook that screams.
“I’m… okay!” She croaks, obviously NOT okay.
One of the enemies manages to hit Vil with their staff, and Vil stiffens with a scream as electricity runs through him.
“VIL!” His partners cry out.
“Subject E subdued. Securing now.”
It’s Jamil that gets hit next, screaming as he falls to the ground.
“JAMIL!”
“We’ve also secured Subject D. Tetra Team has captured F. We will rendezvous, then return to HQ.” They pick up the fallen men, tossing them over their shoulders.
“Where are you taking them?!” Kalim tries to run after them, but gets it with a spell and falls to his knees. “WAIT!!”
Samara also tries to stop them, but a spell slams into her, throwing her into a pile of debris. Cracks form on her face, and the magic threads she had put up to wall off the freshman fall away and disappear.
“SAMARA!” Hannah calls out
“They… they went down in seconds…” Ace murmurs to himself, eyes wide.
As the soldiers start to leave, going out through the giant hole in the wall and taking Vil and Jamil with them, she tries to get up and go after them, but falls. “Damnit! Don’t you fucking dare take them!” She tries to threaten them, but it comes out more like a cry.
“Tetra Team has regrouped with Hepta Team.”
Outside, the group sees more of the strange men walking by. “What in tarnation? They’re haulin’ a cage.” Epel’s eyes widen. “Wait… ain’t that…”
“LEMME OOOUT!! GET ME OUTTA HEEERE!!” Grim yowls from inside the cage, his paws banging against the bars.
Yuume points at him.
“GRIM!” Hannah shouts.
Grim spots everyone and reaches a paw through the bars. “Yuume! Ace! Deuce! Hannah!” He calls out as they begin to carry him away.
“Mission complete. Returning to HQ.”
“Damnit! They’re taking ‘em away!” Epel shouts, running after them. “Hey! GET BACK HERE!”
Deuce is quick to join Epel. “Hold on, Grim! I’ll save you!”
Ash tries to get up again, “Stay back! Don’t get involved!”
“Dude!”  Ace shouts after them. “They JUST told us to stay back!” When they don’t stop, he lets out a groan. “UGH! FOR CRYIN’ OUT LOUD!”
“Argh…” Ace falls to the ground. “Didn’t stand… a chance…”
Deuce collapses next, while Epel falls to his knees with a “fuck…”
Grim bangs against the bars of his cage again, putting in everything he has into trying to break free. “Lemme out! I don’t wanna go! YUUME!!!”
The girl runs out after him just as the ship lifts and starts to leave, but Rook manages to grab her.
Kalim tries to run after them as well, crying out for his friends. “JAMIL! VIL!”
Rook growls in frustration, his breath heavy with exhaustion. “Kalim, we must tend to our injured freshmen and friends. I will take them to the infirmary.”
“But, Jamil… Jamil’s been kidnapped!”
“Kalim!” Rook lets go of Yuume and grabs Kalim’s shoulders, turning him to look at him. “You must calm yourself. Jamil has been abducted.” His voice is stern. “You need to step up as housewarden and fulfill your duties on your own.”
Kalim closes his eyes and takes a moment to steel himself. When he opens them, his eyes are hard. “Alright. I’ll go summon the other housewardens.”
“Didn’t… didn’t pick up…” Ace croaks out, his voice small and weak.
“What?” Ash had managed to get into a sitting position, but was leaning against the wall for support.
“Called… Housewarden Riddle… but he didn’t… pick up…” He loses consciousness.
“No…”

TWST Book 6 - 4 Grim's Been Found
“Why don’t you go to bed?” Epel asks, once again trying to convince Yuume to go upstairs and sleep.
Yuume tiredly shakes her head. She was barely even awake, super comfy in the spot she had made for herself, leaning up against Epel with her legs in Ace’s lap.
“You look comfy.” Ace comments, looking at Epel.
“So do you.”
“How’s it feel?”
“Huh?” Epel tilts his head.
“To be a massive loser, I mean.” Ace grins.
“What’s that s’posed t’ mean!”
“What do you think, asshole?”
“Y’know what, fuck you!” When Yuume re-adjusts slightly, Epel freezes. “Sorry…”
Ace snorts, rolling his eyes. “Simp.”
Yuume’s head starts to slip off of Epel’s shoulder, and she slides down into his lap.
Epel goes bright red, and Ace scowls.
‘Fucking loser.’ He mouths vindictively.
Epel glares at Ace, but doesn’t say anything back, fearing he would wake up Yuume.
Hannah watches the entire interaction from her spot on the floor in front of Deuce. She had been playing a game on her phone while petting Hera before she was distracted by the bickering. She smirks and taps Deuce’s leg to get his attention.
He lowers his phone and looks at Hannah, tilting his head.
She motions over to where Ace and Epel are silently arguing and glaring at each other.
Deuce holds back a laugh and then looks at Hannah with a smile. He quickly sends a text to her on his phone.
Deuce: They both like her, don’t they? Hannah: Yes Hannah: No doubts about it Deuce: This is gonna be great Hannah: We’re gonna tease Ace endlessly about this, right? Deuce: Ofc Hannah: Good
“You seem awfully comfortable,” Rook says, looking down at his girlfriend with loving eyes, petting her head as she lies in his lap.
Ash tiredly smiles, purring up a storm. “Mmm, yes…” She brings his hand to her cheek, nuzzling into it. “Are they fighting over there?” She mumbles, talking about Ace and Epel.
“Precisely so, ma chatonne.”
Ash snuggles into him, turning to press her face into his stomach. “You know what would be funny?”
Rook smirks in amusement. “Careful of speaking things into the universe- they may very well happen.”
“That’s the point.” She quietly laughs.
Yuume’s phone rings from on the coffee table, and she jolts up, scrambling to grab it.
Ace snorts. “Someone’s been taking notes from Cater.”
Yuume tiredly glares at him as she picks up the video call from Crowley. ‘Any news on Grim?’ She signs.
“Yuume, the Shroud siblings from Ignihyde have successfully captured Grim.”
Deuce helps Hannah from the floor, Hera letting out an annoyed meow as she is forced out of said girl's lap, and they walk over behind the couch.
“That’s great! Is he okay?” Hannah asks, leaning on the back of the couch.
“Ah, yes, how fortunate they did it so quickly. If they hadn’t, I would’ve been forced to cancel the culture fair, and then Ambrose would’ve had my guts for garters.” Crowley clears his throat. “But never mind that! Grim is in no condition to talk at the moment. We will question him as soon as he comes to. I’m also considering having a third party look into the matter. Hence, I cannot allow you to speak with Grim in the interim. I’ll be in touch soon.” Before anyone else can say anything, he hangs up.
“Rude.” Hannah huffs. “Didn’t even wait for a response.”
Yuume visibly deflates.
“Did he just say Grim’s in no condition to talk?” Ace questions
“Maybe he put up a huge fight when they captured him…?” Deuce says hesitantly.
“Probably, see’in how ya’ll came back after encounter’in him, wouldn’t surprise me.
“He said ‘Shroud siblings’ captured him. So we could probably ask Zero for the details.” Hannah suggests.
Ash sits up. “Zero is probably asleep; her and Keres have that presentation tomorrow. You know, the one where they are showing off the prosthetics they’ve been working on?”
“Yeah, but who cares?! This is Grim we’re talking about! He’s our friend!”
Hannah sighs. “As much as I agree with you, Ace, this is a major event for both Zero and Keres. They’ve been working on this project all year, and it’s really important to both of them.”
“They actually started it last year, so it’s something that has been in the works for a long time.” Ash corrects.
“Still… I hate just not knowing.” Deuce mummers.
“We can ask Roi du Poison et Roi d’or when they get back, if that suffices.” Rook offers.
Yuume stands with a sigh. ‘They’re right. As much as I’m worried about Grim, Crowley did say he was okay, and the others have things they need to prepare for tomorrow’s culture festival. We can ask Zero about it afterwards.’

TWST Book 6 - 3 Finding Grim
“And that brings us to the task at hand. We must locate Grim and take him into custody. I’ve already dispatched the teachers.” Crowley says, finishing his explanation to everyone.
Leona yawns. “I was expectin’ something a little more urgent than finding a lost kitty cat that’s scratching people.” He shakes his head. “Can’t believe you dragged me outta bed for this.”
“They weren’t just ‘scratched’, Leona. Some major damage was done.” Vil says. A thought crosses his mind. “Spade has broken ribs and extensive bruising along her back and sides.”
Kalim is next to speak. “If I hadn’t seen it myself, I wouldn’t have believed it.” He shakes his head. “Yuume had massive, deep gashes on her face, and Spade was all sorts of scratched up and hurt. Ace also looked pretty banged up, too.”
“I briefly saw Spade when Rook was bringing her to Heartslabyul; she could barely walk on her own.” Riddle glances at Leona. “I left her in Trey’s care.”
Leona rolls his eyes, trying to pretend like he couldn’t care less about the state his ex was in, though his tail was flicking side to side.
Riddle lets out a sigh. “The culture fair is still going on. It’s imperative we apprehend him for our visitors’ safety.”
“My, my. Grim never misses an opportunity to cause trouble whenever we have a big event,” Azul says with a hum.
“Malleus is out for an evening stroll,” Lilia speaks up, motioning between him and Keres, “we’re here in his stead. I admit, I’m not great at finding things, but I suppose another pair of eyes can’t hurt.”
Keres shrugs. “I’m not, not, good at finding things, but I also don’t mind helping!”
“Question!” Ortho raises his hand. “Does it matter if the target is alive when we bring him in?”
Crowley gapes at the humanoid. “Of course it does!” He squawks. “You are to bring him in alive! And also unharmed, insomuch as possible!”
Idia speaks from his tablet. “So if we rough up the target, we fail the objective. K. Eh, I’m sure Ortho can handle a Grim capture quest EZPZ. Plus, I know Zero is jumping at the bit to get rid of some excess energy right now.”
“I know that feeling,” Keres says with a nervous laugh. “I’m also nervous for tomorrow, but also so excited! We have to make sure everything is perfect for our presentation tomorrow.”
Ortho laughs. “I know you and big sis will do great! As for our quest, I’ve got a detailed map of the school, which includes all secret doors and underground passages. My IR scans should locate him in no time. It will just be a matter of who gets to him first. Me or Zero!”
“She’s already left, Ortho. Better get started.”

TWST Book 6 - 2 Grim on the Loose
It was the yelling from downstairs that initially had Epel stirring in his sleep, then the rush of people going down the stairs that had him opening his eyes. He felt a lot calmer than he did when Yuume brought him up to his room. Looking around the room, he felt a pang of… something when he saw she was no longer in the room with him. He rubs his eyes, moving to get out of bed when he doesn’t hear the loud voices from below quiet down. A pained yell has him much more awake, and he rushes out of his room, making his way down the stairs.
“What in the Petter Piper pickled pepper bah bam bum did I miss?!” He shouts, seeing the scene before him.
Ash is standing off to the side, watching over everything; like almost everyone in the room, she looks tired. She looks over to Epel. “Apparently, a lot.”
The faucet from the kitchen turns off, and Vil walks in with two bowls of water. He moves over and sets them both on the coffee table in front of the couch, next to Hannah, who is fussing over Yuume and Ace, before walking back into the kitchen.
Yuume looks at Epel, tears still falling from her eyes. Combined with the deep scratches on her face that are still bleeding, it almost looks as if she’s crying blood.
Epel rushes over to the couch, sitting down beside her. “H-hey! What’re ya cryin’ abou’? Are y’okay?” He gently touches her cheek, turning her head to look at the wounds. “Didja fall or sumthin’?”
Ace scoffs from Yuume’s other side. “You think she fell, you dumbass–?” He’s cut off by Hannah, who smacks him. He yelps.
“Quit moving, I’m trying to clean your wounds! Don’t you know cat scratches and bites can get infected really easily!” She dips her cloth into one of the bowls of water that Vil had brought over, rinsing it off. “The only reason I’m not doing Yuume is because Vil is going to do her.” She says, sounding more than a little irritated.
Yuume opens her arms slightly, as if asking Epel for a hug, and he’s quick to oblige.
“I’on know what happened, but it’ll be okay! I’m sure of it!” He says, holding her tight.
Ace rolls his eyes and looks away. “That damn cat…” he grumbles.
Epel looks at Ace before looking at Yuume again. “Y’all got into it wit’ a stray or sumthin’?”
“Not a stray. Grim.”
Vil comes back into the room, a washcloth in hand. He sits down next to Hannah, in front of Yuume, and dips the cloth into one of the bowls of water. “Epel, you can keep holding her, but let me see her face. We need to tend to those scratches.”
Epel’s eyes go wide at Ace’s statement, but doesn’t ask any more questions as he shifts to allow Vil access to Yuume’s face.
“Thank you. Now, please, continue telling us what happened, Ace. I’d ask Spade, but…” Vil trails off, glancing at the redhead.
Spade sits sideways in one of the dining room chairs. Her shirt is off with her back turned towards Rook, who is feeling over her ribs and spine. She lets out a pained squeak as Rook pushes lightly on one of her ribs.
“I believe that one’s broken, I’m afraid.”
“NO SHIT!”
“We’ll need to wrap your chest, and I would also recommend bed rest for a few weeks until it can heal. Of course, you’re lucky this is a rib and not an arm or something- we’d likely have to set it if that were the case, and I’m afraid you wouldn’t find that all too pleasant.” Rook says, as he turns to look through the first aid kit on the table.
“None of this is pleasant!” Spade snaps, glaring back at Rook. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath when Deuce takes her hand and gives it a small squeeze.
“She’s… not exactly in a state to be answering questions,” Vil says, looking back to Yuume. He lightly cups her face to tilt it to look at him. He slowly begins to clean her face, using gentle strokes, unlike Hannah. “Deuce is over there for moral support, though I think it’s more so that Spade doesn’t try to rip Rook’s head off.”
“Spade isn’t exactly a good patient.” Ace comments.
“So I’ve noticed.”
Yuume whimpers as Vil’s cloth begins to clean her wounds, tears slip through her closed eyes as she sniffles.
“The tears will only make it hurt more, Yuume,” Vil says softly.
Epel takes Yuume’s hand, giving it a small squeeze in support. “Grammy used to always sing songs when she’d clean my cuts and scrapes… N-not that I’m offering but–!”
Yuume is quick to sign ‘yes.’
Epel blushes, mentally cursing himself for offering as he starts humming an old folk song from his hometown, a couple of lyrics slipping out when Yuume leans into him.
Ace raises a brow. “A manly man, huh?”
Hannah, having finished cleaning Ace’s wounds, starts to dress them. At his comment, she pulls one of the bandages extra tight. “Quit it.”
Hera, who was lying on the back of the couch behind him, smacks him.
“OW!”
“Will you please continue to tell us what all happened?” Vil grabs the antibiotic cream that Hannah had been using and begins to delicately place some on Yuume’s wounds.
Ace notices Yuume squeezing Epel’s hand tighter, who squeezes back. He watches the interaction with envy.
“Ace, focus,” Ash says, coming over and sitting in one of the single couches.
“Grim happened.” Ace says, looking away.
Vil lets out an irritated sigh. “More details? I don’t exactly have a lot of patience right now, so it would be best if you cooperated.”
“Look, the details are beyond me right now–” Ace is cut off as Crowley barges into the dorm in little more than his robe, slippers, and bird mask.
“Yes, yes, as I am so gracious, I have arrived so quickly to assess the damage. What’s happened?”
“The cat was eating something, overblotted, then attacked us,” Spade says, turning to look at the man.
“Wha–”
“And it’s about fucking time you showed up! Do you know what we've had to deal with?! Had the hell cat chased up, me and Deuce could’ve, no WOULD’VE died! Is that what you want? Two student deaths on your hands?” Spade gets up, face scrunching up in pain as she uses the table to push herself up. She begins to slowly make her way towards Crowley, limping. “And imagine the kind of things that would come to light when the police start looking into the college. What kind of things are you hiding, Crowley? Are you prepared for people to start looking just a little harder?” She tilts her head. “And what happens when people start talking? Not the public, but the students here.”
Deuce stands up, “Spade–”
Hannah holds up a hand. “Let her talk, Deuce. This needs to be said, and frankly, I’m glad someone is finally saying it.”
He stops his approach to Spade.
“Everyone knows about the magicless student who lives in Ramshackle, and many would know about the condition that this dorm was in at the beginning of this year. Would that really look ‘oh so gracious, ' of you?”
Crowley opens his mouth to speak, but Spade cuts him off.
“Not done. While on the topic of magicless students, let’s talk about what all you’ve done to try and send our two good friends from another universe back home. Hmm? What exactly have you done? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Don’t even try and argue, we all know the truth. So not only have you not put any resources into trying to find a way back home from them, but you’ve also barely given them the means to survive. Actually,” she holds up a hand, ‘let me rephrase that. You’ve only done that for Yuume. Every single thing Hannah has ever gotten, was from others. None of it was provided by you or the school, the ones responsible for her.” She scoffs. “Not to mention the fact that you treat them like personal servants, pushing everything you don’t want to do onto them.” Spade gets up into Crowley’s face. “So you need to get your act together, or hell is going to come down on you, and quickly.”
The room is silent, as Spade stands before Crowley, obviously in pain, but still standing tall and firm. As if just daring Crowley to disagree, to say anything back that could possibly refute her, or just blow things off.
Everything is still for a few more moments before Crowley finally speaks up.
“So what, exactly, has happened then?”
“A black rock, you say?”
“Like the one we found at the mine, right?” Deuce asks.
Yuume nods. After Vil had finished bandaging her face, she had joined in on the conversation.
“Didn’t he eat something like that after the shit with Riddle went down?” Spade asks, looking at Deuce.
“Now that you mention it, I did see him eat some black thing after Leona’s overblot,” Ash states.
‘Yeah, but he never freaked out after eating those.’ Yuume signs.
Hannah is the one to translate this while Epel continues to hold Yuume, rubbing her back in a comforting manner.
“What’s the deal with those black rocks anyway?” Ace questions.
“I didn’t witness any of these incidents firsthand,” Crowley starts, “so this is purely conjecture… But I suspect those black rocks were blot crystals.”
“That… actually makes sense.” Spade winces as Rook tugs a little too hard on one of her bandages. “But why would he eat them?”
“Yeah, that’s a dumbass move, even for the cat.” Ash comments.
“Wait, hold on. What are blot crystals?” Deuce asks.
“I believe a quick refresher is in order,” Crowley says with a sigh. “Overblotting occurs when a magic user accumulates more blot than they can handle.” He begins, “Blot, as you know, is a waste product of using magic. It’s highly toxic and contains stagnant magical energy. During such incidents, blot manifests in the shape of the practitioner’s darkest emotions.”
“And when you want to get someone out of an overblot, you gotta rip that manifestation away from them, right?” Ace questions.
“At least, that’s how we’ve gotten all the overblotters to return to normal so far.” Deuce adds.
“Quite right,” Rook confirms as he finishes attending to Spade’s wounds. He lends her a hand to stand up as she goes over to where Deuce is sitting, taking the spot beside him. She leans her head on his shoulder, the exhaustion from using ‘Zero to Infinity’ finally catching up to her once more.
“One must sever the link to the manifestation to free the magic user. My understanding is that when the manifestation fades, the condensed blot can crystallize.” Crowley states.
Ace raises a brow. “Seriously?”
“It only makes sense. Magestones form when magic flowing through the earth or air crystallizes. So it only stands to reason that blot can do the same.” Ash explains.
“Correct, Miss Felis, as it is basically magic runoff. Granted, I’ve never personally witnessed this process occurring. Overblotting itself is exceptionally rare…” Crowley hums to himself in thought.
Yuume stands up, furiously signing, just as Hannah was about to open her mouth. ‘Rare?! Tell that to the five overblots that have happened in the time Hannah and I have been here!’
“Exactly!” Hannah yells. “How the hell has something SO rare happened 5 times at this college in not even an entire year?! That’s bullshit!”
Epel pats Yuume’s back, trying to calm her down a bit. “Okay, lemme see if I got this straight. Blot is bad for people even in small amounts, and the black rocks are hypercondensed versions of it, right? Seems kinda…” He trails off.
“Correct,” Crowley confirms.
“Which means if someone goes around snackin’ on ‘em, it’s gonna mess with ‘em.”
“So, Grim went berserk because he ate those rocks?” Deuce asks.
“Bear in mind,” Crowley starts, “that this is all speculation. It’s also worth remembering that while Grim can communicate with all of us, he is still a monster. Him going ‘berserk’ may be his true nature.” He sighs. “The second day of the culture fair is tomorrow. We cannot leave a dangerous monster on the loose, especially if he’s already injured someone,” he looks between Yuume, Spade, and Ace, “or multiple people.”
Deuce stands up, Spade almost falling over. “Dangerous?! But this is Grim we’re talking about!”
“Believe me,” Crowley shakes his head, “I’ve no desire to condemn him in such a manner. Monster or no, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and admitted him to this school. But we cannot ignore the possibility that he may no longer be fit to remain on campus.”
Ace is next to stand up. “Hold on, what are you sayin’?”
“Regardless, we must assemble the faculty and housewardens and capture Grim posthaste.” Crowley claps his hands together. “I had best be going now. Those of you staying here, aside from Schoenhiet and Al-Asim, do not leave this dorm.” He looks to Spade. “Rosehearts, return to Heartslabyul at once. If you need assistance, have Hunt go with you.” He turns and mutters to himself, “After all, they could mobilize any second…
Ash’s ears flick. “What was that last part?”
“Oh, nothing. Gracious, there’s no rest for the wicked… Schoenheit, follow me. Someone, please go and wake up Al-Asim. We are holding a meeting with the other housewardens promptly.”

TWST Book 6 - 1 Grim?!?!
When Yuume returns to her room, the first thing she notices is the absence of her furry friend. Panic shoots through her. Where is her hellcat? She quickly pats down all the puffed-up spots on the bed, hoping Grim is just snuggled up underneath the comforter. When that provides no sign of the feline, she starts checking everywhere, running out into the hall, checking all of the unoccupied rooms, before bolting downstairs.
Her hands fly as she quickly signs out, ‘Has anyone seen Grim?’
Spade sits up, no longer cuddling into Deuce’s side. “Whoa,” she raises her hands, “hold on, calm down, take a deep breath. Now slow down, you’re signing too fast.”
Yuume takes a deep breath, not that it does much to ease her panic. ‘Has anyone seen Grim? I can’t find him anywhere. He isn’t in the dorm.’ She signs.
After a moment, Deuce hesitantly speaks. “Grim’s… missing?” Yuume nods. “And he isn’t in the dorm.” Yuume nods again. “Okay…”
Ace looks at Deuce, brow raised. He had cleaned up the icing on his face from the cupcake Epel threw at him. “Dude. How did you understand THAT, but not–” Yuume cuts him off with a glare that could kill even the most powerful of mages.
Spade stands up and stretches. “Alright then, let’s go look for him. I can only imagine the sorts of things he could be getting into.” She looks at Yuume, “I’m assuming that was gonna be your next question when we said we hadn’t seen him.”
Yuume shakes her fist up and down, signing ‘yes.’
Deuce gets up from the loveseat and heads over to the door, grabbing his and Spade’s shoes. “Any ideas where he could be?”
“Maybe check the coliseum?” Ace comments from his seat, saying it as if it were the obvious answer. Everyone looks at him. “What?”
“What makes you think he would be there?” Deuce is the first to ask.
“Isn’t he always trying to eat that trash that we find after an overblot?” He waves his hand, “I mean, he’s obsessed with that stuff.”
“Now that I think about it, you’re right!” Deuce finishes slipping his shoes on, and Yuume starts putting on her own.
Spade quickly ties her shoes. “Then let’s head there. Come on, Ace.”
Ace leans his head back. “Why do I have to goooo?” He whines.
Deuce shakes his head, throwing his shoes at him. “‘Cause he’s your friend too. Now let’s go.”
When they get to the coliseum, Grim has already managed to scratch and dig a hole into the main stage. There’s a dark aura around the feline as he throws a piece of wood behind him.
“There… There it is…” His voice is rough and high-pitched as he laughs. “It got buried when they fixed the stage…” he grabs and holds up a black crystal, eyeing it with a crazed look.
Ace stands at the front of the group, having decided to ‘lead’ them into the coliseum. “Dude… What the fuck,” he mutters.
Grim lets out a rumble as he bites into the crystal, his teeth longer and sharper than before. “That’s the good stuff…”
“Uhh… Grim?” Deuce watches the feline with concern, eyes wide.
Grim looks up at them, a feral look in his eyes. “Who’s there?!” He growls.
Yuume rushes forward, reaching out to Grim, relief all over her face. Spade, having noticed the oddities of the usually loud and excited dire-beast, tries to grab Yuume before she can get past her.
“This is MY stone!” Grim snarls out, one paw clutching the crystal close to his chest, while the other swipes at Yuume just as she goes in to pick him up. Yuume staggers back with a high-pitched squeal, her hands coming up to cover her face.
“Holy shit!” Ace yells as Deuce rushes forward to grab Yuume.
“Yuume!” He pulls Yuume back away from Grim, who immediately rushes to attack Ace.
“FUCK ME!” Ace screams, backpedaling away from the hellcat.
Grim seems to grow, his fur getting longer, the flames in his ears blazing hotter and brighter. “MY STONE!”
“Everyone move!” Spade yells, grabbing Deuce’s shoulder, trying to pull him and Yuume back behind her. “Ace, get away from him!”
“WHAT DO YOU THINK I’M TRYING TO DO?!” He screeches as he tries to bat and hit Grim away.
Spade looks at Yuume, who is wide-eyed and crying, blood seeping down from the deep scratches on her face. She takes a deep breath, steeling her resolve, before she looks back at Ace and Grim. “Quit fighting him and RUN!” She grabs her magic pen from her pocket, “Wildcard!”
An array of cards appears in front of the girl as Ace kicks Grim away from him before high-tailing it behind his upperclassman. Spade is quick to select a card, expertly throwing it. “OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!” She shouts as the card slams into Grim before her brother’s familiar collar forms around his neck.
The feline only pauses in his tracks for a moment, trying to pry off the collar with a yowl, but with his efforts amounting to nothing, he quickly resumes his attacks, leaping at Spade with a large amount of strength. She falls to the ground, barely managing to bring her arms up to protect her face from his claws and teeth.
“Spade!” Deuce shoves Yuume into Ace’s arms before running towards the fallen 3rd year.
Ace is quick to catch Yuume, pulling her into his arms. His head whips back and forth between the scene in front of him and the girl in his arms. “Yo, you good?!” The girl only whimpers and shakes her head into his chest, getting blood and tears on his shirt.
“Stay back, Deuce!” Spade calls, trying to shove Grim off of her, “FUCKING HELL! When did you get so strong?!”
Deuce pauses, “but–!”
“Just summon me some sort of cage!” Another one of the cards from Spade’s spell lifts away from the others, “Zero to Infinity!” The card quickly flies towards Spade, touching her forehead before dissolving into the air. Her body lights up with a blue glow, her eyes shift to take on a bright golden hue, and she shoves Grim off of her, the dire-beast flying towards the other side of the coliseum.
Deuce raises his magic pen in the air, “CAGE!” He screams as magic condenses in the air before solidifying into some sort of heavy-duty cage that then falls to the ground.
Spade jumps up from the ground and flicks her arms out to displace the blood running down her forearms. She takes a deep breath before launching herself towards Grim with almost inhuman speed.
The dire-beast tries to stop her with his own attacks, but whatever spell Spade had cast made her far stronger and faster than him. She manages to get behind him and grab the scruff of his neck. He stiffens up but continues to squirm and fight, trying to get out of her grasp, all while hissing and spitting like a feral kitten. She runs back over to where the cage had fallen to the ground, all but throwing Grim into it before slamming it shut.
“Lock!” She commands, and suddenly transparent chains form all over the cage, tightly binding it and locking it so it can’t be opened. “Strengthen!” The cage then glows as the material shifts and changes into a harder material, something not so easily broken.
Spade watches as the cage rattles and shakes as Grim slams around inside, trying to break free. When the metal holds strong, she lets out a breath and closes her eyes. The light around her fades as she falls to her knees.
Deuce rushes over to her, attempting to catch her. “Spade, are you okay?”
“Bro… THAT WAS AWESOME!” Ace yells. He had been watching, what could barely be called a fight, with wide eyes. “I never knew you were so cool!” Yuume turns in his arms to look over at Spade, who was breathing heavily in Deuce’s arms.
She pushes slightly away from her boyfriend, opening her eyes, which have returned to their normal steel-gray color. “Thanks, asshole,” she spits at Ace before looking up at Deuce. “I’m… I’m fine. I just always forget how draining Zero’s unique magic is… I’m suddenly remembering why I never use it…” She lets out a weak laugh, and Deuce helps her to her feet. “I’m fine, Deuce.” Once stable on her feet, she runs a hand through her hair. “Fuck… we need to inform the damn headmage.”
Yuume shakes her head, and Ace raises a brow. “Are you sure that’s what we should be doing?”
Deuce nods in agreement, “Yeah, are you sure that’s a good idea?”
“Considering he’s actively overblotting, at least I think that’s what’s happening, I would say we need to let him know.”
“Okay, but who’s to say what’ll happen if the Headmage finds out about this?” Ace rubs Yuume’s back. “I can’t be the only one who realizes that Grim might not get equal treatment.” Yuume tightens her grip on Ace’s shirt.
Spade sighs. “I understand that, but overblots aren’t a normal occurrence, despite what we’ve seen on campus this year. There isn’t a lot of research on them, even on humans. I highly doubt there is anything on the effects they have on non-humanoids.” She shakes her head, “I understand where you’re coming from, I really do, and I don’t want to have to pull seniority over you, but this isn’t something we can handle on our own.” She walks over to put a hand on Yuume’s shoulder. “The head mage needs to know.”
“This isn’t fair!” Ace shouts as Yuume shakes in his arms.
“I know it isn’t. It sucks,” she looks back at Deuce, who is still standing near the cage. “But this is what needs to be done.” She turns Yuume to look at her. “I can promise you this, though. That we won’t let him be taken or removed from the college without a fight. He is YOUR familiar.”  There’s a loud bang, and she snaps to look at the cage, only to find there’s a large outward dent in it. “Unfortunately, we don’t have the luxury of time to argue about this.” She looks at Ace, “You two need to get out of here; this is no longer up for debate.”
“Ugh! Only because we’re running out of time!” Ace yells, looking at Yuume, who is making every ‘no’ signal she can possibly think of.
“Glad we’re on the same page.” She pulls out her phone and tosses it to Deuce, who just barely manages to catch it. “Call Crowley and get back.” There’s another loud bang from inside the cage. “Ace, get Yuume out of here, take her to Ramshackle!”
Another bang.
“Now!”
Ace huffs as Spade casts a strengthening spell and shakes his head, but grabs Yuume before she can move to get away from him, knowing she will do everything she can to stay and fight. “As much as I hate to admit it, if we stay here when he gets out, we’ll only be one more thing to worry about.”
“Exactly, let me and Spade handle this! We don’t want you to get any more hurt if–” there’s another bang, “When he gets out!” He unlocks Spade’s phone. “Unless you want me to take you while Ace stays to support Spade?” He looks at Yuume as he hits ‘call’ on the phone.
Ace picks up Yuume, “I’ll take her. Just don’t get lost in each other’s eyes while fighting, ya hear?! Riddle will kick my ass if either of you two dies!”
“He’s only staying to hold the phone while I inform Crowley and also to get me out of here if this fails to contain–”  she pauses, her face scrunching up as she tries to put more magic into reinforcing the cage, “him!” Another dent forms in the cage, “GET OUT OF HERE!”
Ace, with Yuume secured in his arms, turns and books it out of the coliseum. “I’m sorry, Yuu…”
The phone at Deuce’s ear stops ringing as Crowley picks up, his tone annoyed. “And just what could anyone need from the ever gracious headmage of Night Raven College at this hour?!”
“He answered!” Deuce yells, “putting him on speak–” the cage bursts open with a loud noise, and Grim lets out a vicious snarl.
“SHIT!”
Crowley squawks from his end of the call. “What in the ever-loving Seven is happening over there?” He lets out a huff. “Mister Leech, if this is another one of your senseless ‘prank’ calls, I will have you suspended!”
Deuce takes a step back, fear shooting through him at the sounds coming from Grim. “Not a prank call, and not Jade or Floyd…” His voice shakes.
Crowley sighs, sounding as if this is all some big burden he shouldn’t have to deal with. “Then what, and who is it?
Spade takes a defensive stance just as Grim launches at her, though it does little as she is sent flying across the coliseum.
“SPADE!” His gaze follows the girl, but is quickly brought back to the hell cat. “Uhh… Grim? We can talk about this…” The dire beast prepares to pounce. “NO WE CAN’T!” He runs with surprising speed, away from Grim and towards Spade.
The head mage sighs once more from his end of the line. “I can assure you that I am well aware that this is not Miss Rosehearts or the Ramshackle monster. If you didn’t need anything, I will be hanging up now–”
Deuce cuts him off as he runs. “Don’t you fucking dare, you stupid excuse for a head mage! This is an emergency, and you can wait a damn moment while we get out of immediate danger!”
“... Excuse me?”
“Spade? Are you okay?” He kneels down beside her, making sure to keep an eye on Grim, who is watching them with calculating eyes, as if waiting for their next move.
Spade takes a moment before speaking, her head spinning. “...no?” Her voice is weak. She tries to get up, but her limbs give out from under her. “We need to get out of here…”
“If someone could please enlighten me on what is going on, I would very much like to know who I’m charging for this indecent manner of behavior and where!”
“Shut up and do your job…” Spade coughs, “meet up at Ramshackle, asap.” With a shaky hand, she takes her phone from Deuce’s hand and hangs up. “Deuce, think you can get us out of here before the hell-cat decides to make his way over and attack us again?”
Deuce looks at Grim, “Yeah. I can do that. I’m with you there, we need to get out of here.” He gently lifts Spade into his arms, wincing as she lets out a hiss in pain. “I can get us back to the dorm.”

TWST > Prologue 1 - Hannah Meets the Girls
> means 'after' blank. (Example: "> Prologue" means after prologue)
This will give everyone a proper introduction to almost all the NRC girls. Please enjoy!
Glitch stops in front of the door. “I know this is your first weekend here, and I am sure you would much rather be using the time to acclimate to this place, but I wanted to introduce you to the rest of the girls on campus, or at least the majority of us. That way, you have multiple people you can go to if you need help with anything. It will be good for you to build a strong support system.”
Hannah looks out the glass door; she was able to see a group of girls sitting and hanging out at a picnic table under a large tree in the courtyard. There were a total of 5 girls. “Are there not a lot of girls here?” She asks; all of the girls look completely different from each other and had features that stood out to her.
“No, the dark carriage does not often choose females. The ones it does choose typically have an extremely high affinity for magic. Not that I am one to talk; I was not chosen. As you know, I do not have magic. I got in solely because Crewel has been taking care of me since I arrived here years ago.” Glitch says; she follows Hannah’s gaze outside. “Are you ready to meet them?”
Hannah looks back at Glitch. “Ready as I’ll ever be,” she says, her voice filled with uncertainty.
Glitch gives her a reassuring smile before opening the door and leading the way toward the group.
“Did you actually stay up all night, Zero?!” One girl yells. She has short, bright red hair that looked like it had been hastily brushed and then left as is. Hannah sees her piercing gray eyes from where she stands in front of the door. A red heart sat on her cheekbone under her left eye and a black spade on the corner of her right eye. She crosses her arms, standing next to the table. The girl in front of her puts her hands up.
“In my defense! So did my brothers.” Hannah’s vision is immediately drawn to the metallic shine on one of her hands. Upon closer look, she sees that the majority of that arm was made of smooth black and white metal, as were both of her legs. Areas around the joints glow a faint blue. She sat on the table, wearing a hoodie with the sleeves rolled up. Her hair, which looked to be made of some sort of blue flame, is tied back into a ponytail, a few small strands hanging down and framing her face, drawing attention to her bright yellow eyes and sharp teeth.
Glitch stops and looks back at Hannah. The cat at her feet sits down as Hannah takes in the scene in front of her. Glitch knows the second Hannah sees the modifications on her friend, Zero. It wasn’t easy to imagine what the girl had gone through to have needed all of those prosthetics.
“One of your brothers is physically incapable of sleep! Not to mention, I would not condone either you or Idia staying up all night! You need sleep!”  Another girl says. She sits sideways on the bench, facing both the redhead and the girl with flaming hair. Black markings frame her dark purple eyes, and more black markings trace down her arms. Her hair, black streaked with a few strands of a deep magenta color, is all parted to one side of her head.
“You’re not my mother!” The girl with flaming hair shouts, turning to look at the purple-eyed one.
“Don’t make me tell Riddle!” The redhead responds.
“Like you weren’t out at the track last night!”
“I’ll have you know I got 6 hours of sleep!”
“Speaking of last night, I saw one of your races. You did great!” This time, a girl on the other side of the table speaks. She has pale skin and long, shining copper-colored hair. She sits with perfect posture. Hannah couldn’t get a good look at her face from near the door of the building, but she assumes that the woman is beautiful.
“Thank you,” The red-haired girl says, a smile on her face.
The girl with black markings looks over in Glitch’s and Hannah’s direction. “How long are you going to stand over there and watch Glitch?”
Hannah blushes, feeling as if she had been caught spying. She looks at Glitch as the girl gently lays her hand on her shoulder.
Glitch motions her head towards the group before walking closer to the table. “Not long,” she looks between the two arguing with each other, “I am half tempted to tell Riddle on both of you.”
“Don’t you dare!” “Don’t you fucking dare!” Both girls quickly yell back, and the redhead quickly takes the opportunity to tackle the other off the table and onto the ground, beginning to choke her.
Hannah follows Glitch, trying not to stray too far from one of the few people she knew in this world. She carefully eyes the two girls fighting on the ground.
Glitch stops in front of the table, making sure to give the two on the ground ample room. She glances over at Hannah. “Hannah, this is my group of friends. The two on the ground are Spade Rosehearts and Zero Shroud. Both of them have siblings that are house wardens.”
The redhead stops choking the other girl but remains sitting on top of her. “Spade,” she says with a smile, looking at Hannah. She quickly turns to look between Glitch and the girl with black markings. “Speaking of the house wardens, Malleus was told about the meeting between them, right?”
“Yes, I’m pretty sure both me and Glitch reminded him at least three times.”
“Good– ack!” Zero chooses that moment to force herself up and tackle Spade.
Hannah watches as they begin fighting again. “Um… should we stop them?”
“Nah, they’re not actually trying to kill each other. I’m Mika, a 3rd year from Octavinelle.” The purple-eyed girl looks down at the person across from her. “The one sleeping right here…” she reaches out and pokes the girl's head, right between what looks to be cat ears, “is Ash.”
“Quit it…”  Ash grumbles, batting away Mika’s hand. Her cat ears flick backward.
“Only if you wake up,” Mika says, continuing to poke Ash’s head.
Ash turns her head and blows her hair out of her face, allowing Hannah a quick glimpse at her muted green eyes. “I will go back to my dorm.” She growls.
“Don’t you have a date later?” The copper-headed girl asks, tilting her head innocently.
“Shit, that’s right,” Ash sits up , and Hannah is finally able to see her entire face. Long dark brown hair flows freely down from her head. She runs a hand through her hair, and it settles, parting around her feline ears. She looks tired, but Hannah gets the feeling that it isn’t a rare feeling for her. Tired eyes find Hannah’s, “I just want to sleep… that spelldrive match last night was a tough one. We barely even won it…” She lets her head plop back down on the table.
Hera finally moves from Hannah’s feet, jumping up on the table. The cat stalks closer to the beastwoman and sniffs at Ash’s ears only to get snatched and pulled into Ash’s arms.
“Hera!” Hannah yells.
“OW! Okay, okay! I get it!” Ash hisses, quickly sitting up again and letting go of the cat, who immediately bolts back over to her owner. “Jeez.”
Hannah picks up Hera, “Sorry about that,” she bows her head.
Ash looks at the cat in the newcomer's arms. “Not your fault,” she yawns, “it was certainly a wake-up call, though.” She shakes her head, “Feeling more awake now at least.”
Hannah see the new scratches on her face but is beaten to asking if the girl was okay.
“Are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, Samara. Just a few scratches.”
“That’s good.” The last girl says before turning to look at Hannah, who’s immediately stricken by her beauty. “I’m Samara, from Pomefiore.” She says with a gentle smile.
“Wow… You look almost like a doll.” Hannah whispers.
Samara’s blue eyes close, long lashes gently laying against her cheekbones, and she lets out a small laugh. It’s almost as if she was a living porcelain doll. “I was one once.”
Hannah is taken aback. “Wha-”
“So, what’s your name? You know ours.” Ash interrupts. “Glitch barely told us anything,” she shoots a glare at the one who summoned them together. “So come, sit down and introduce yourself.”
“Um… okay.” Hannah slowly takes a seat next to Samara, looking at her as if to ask if it was alright.
Samara nods, “you don’t have to ask permission to sit. Ash is just a little grumpy because Mika woke her up. Please, introduce yourself.” She says with a welcoming smile.
Hannah sets Hera down in her lap, the feline making herself comfy. She looks around at the table, then at Spade and Zero on the ground.
Despite Spade sitting on her back, Zero still makes it a point to look over. “Go ahead. I promise we’re listening.”
“Um, my name is Hannah. I’m not from this world. I don’t even have magic… But you all probably know that.” She tucks a piece of hair behind her ear. “Somehow, I was still placed in Scarabia. Oh, and the cat on my lap is Hera.” She looks down at the black cat.
“It’s nice to meet you, Hannah. Welcome to the group. We are missing one, though.” Mika says.
“Where is Keres?” Glitch asks.
Spade, still sitting on top of Zero, is the first to respond. “I passed her in the hall of mirrors. She smelled like some sort of chemical smoke. Said she needed a shower and some time to cool off before she bit someone’s head off. My guess is something happened in technomancy club.”
“Was it Max?” Samara looks at Spade, then to Glitch. “Come and sit down, Glitch.” She says, motioning for the eldritch being to get comfortable.
Glitch sits down next to Hannah.
“If Keres’ is pissed, it’s almost always because of Max,” Ash says with a sarcastic tone. She settles her head on her fist. “Who else likes to try and make bombs and generally cause trouble?”
“Apparently, these two freshmen that are in my dorm,” Spade grumbles.
“How’s Riddle handling that?” Zero asks, squirming from under Spade.
Spade gets off of her and moves over to the table, taking the last seat next to Mika. She lets out a sigh. “I know you’ve been busy helping Idia with the new 1st years, but my dorm’s kinda a mess. Riddle’s been over the top lately when it comes to the rules. I spent the rest of the night at Savannaclaw when I got back from the track. Didn’t want to risk adding to the problem. It's been chaos at Heartslabyul.” She shakes her head.
“Problem?” Hannah asks, remembering that two of the friends she had made were from Heartslabyul.
“You know all those collars you see students wearing? Specifically those from Heartslabyul?” Ash asks, and Hannah nods her head. “Yeah. That’s because of her brother,” Ash motions at Spade. “He’s pretty strict when it comes to the rules, and Heartslabyul has a LOT of them.”
“810 of them, to be exact,” Spade says, sounding irritated.
Zero hops up and sits on the table, crossing her legs. “I have noticed an increase in the number of people wearing collars.”
“So that’s what those are. I was starting to think it was some sort of fashion trend around here. I’m glad it isn’t.” Hannah says with a laugh.
“You sound like father.” Glitch says with a smirk.
Hannah looks at Glitch confused but quickly turns back to Spade when she starts talking again.
“It’s been really bad lately. Even the smallest of things have been getting people collared. Trey and I have been doing our best to do damage control,” she shakes her head again, “but there’s only so much Trey can do about Riddle without getting collared himself.” Spade puts her head in her hand. “I’ve been running myself ragged just trying to uncollar and recollar people so that they can actually participate in class.”  She looks up, “and if I get collared myself, everyone’s screwed since I'm the only one who can actually remove collars aside from Riddle himself.”
“I can only imagine. People probably aren’t being grateful to ya either.” Ash comments.
Hannah turns to Ash, whose ears are pinned to her head in irritation. “What exactly do the collars do? I mean, aside from being uncomfortable-looking.”
“They block a person’s magic. It’s actually kinda painful.” Zero looks at her hands. “I’ll have to go and see Riddle. I just figured that he was really busy with house warden stuff, so I didn’t want to bug him and add more to his plate.”

TWST Prologue - ? Hannah Meets Glitch
Okay, so if you look at the TWST master list, everything will be ordered very specifically. We tend to hop around with what we write a lot, just because we have ideas for certain things and inspiration for others. So we rarely write in any sort of order. We will try to number things in order, but sometimes we'll be missing certain pieces, hence the ? in the title instead of a number. (We have a lot written for books 5 and 6, but basically nothing for all the others *sweatdrop*)
Anyways, this is still very early on in the prologue, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. There is context within this piece about what happens prior, so you shouldn't be too far out of the loop, especially since I trust ya'll know the main storyline anyway. ANYWAYS! Enjoy.
A knock sounds from the door, and Hannah reaches down to pick up Hera before opening it, revealing a tall girl. She had pitch-black hair that reached just below her chin, styled with an undercut. Hannah's eyes are drawn immediately to the dark bags under her eyes, and she holds Hera a bit tighter to her chest.
“You are Hannah, correct?”  The girl asks, her voice sounding tired.
Hannah nods her head. “Y-Yes.” She looks at the girl's eyes; they were a dark purple that looked as if they held the secrets of the universe.
“My name is Glitch. Kalim did not say much about the situation, so you will have to tell me what has happened. I heard that something had happened at orientation, but I left early. I was not… feeling great.” She says, leaning up against the door frame.
Tears well up in Hannah’s eyes, “I’m sorry, I’m really lost as well. I woke up in this coffin, and there was this other girl and this weird cat creature thing! Then there was a lot of arguing and yelling, and then the creature was trying to take our clothes, and when neither of us gave them to him, he started chasing us and throwing fire at us all around the place.” She hiccups. “Then this bird-man showed up and told the other girl to get control of her animal and wouldn’t listen when she said she’d never seen it before. Then he dragged us to this big room with lots of people, I tried to tell him that I wasn’t from here and I didn’t know where we were, but he just kept rambling on about something and then shoved me in front of a mirror that demanded my name and then said something about the nature of my soul and I don’t know what that means and I don’t know where I am or what’s going on and—” Hannah rushes, the situation beginning to crash down on her, and falls to her knees.
Glitch quickly comes forward and kneels in front of Hannah. She puts a hand on her shoulder. “Calm down, everything will be alright. Deep breaths, breathe with me. In,” she takes a deep breath, making the motion for Hannah, who hadn’t even realized she had started hyperventilating, to do the same. “... and out. Again.” She repeats the process a few times until Hannah finally begins to calm down.
Glitch uses her thumb to wipe a tear from under Hannah’s eye. “ Alright, let us tackle one thing at a time. Let us go slowly, okay? There is plenty of time, and panicking is not going to help anything or anyone, alright?”
Hannah nods her head. “I’m sorry—”
“You have nothing to be sorry for. I believe I have an idea of what might have happened, but we can deal with that in a moment. Let us go to my room; it is a lot more comfortable than this barren one. Do you like tea? I can get someone to go get some for you.” Glitch says, slowly standing up.
“Yes,” she takes a deep breath, “I would really appreciate that.” She slowly rises to her feet.
“Alright. My room is right next door; I will get you settled in there for the time being, then have someone fetch some tea.” Glitch holds out a hand for Hannah to take, who takes it, holding her cat in her other arm. Glitch lead her out of the room and into the one right next door.
The room is dark but has string lights all around the room that glow in pinks, purples, and blues. There’s a large bed perfectly made, a couch in front of a small coffee table, and a few bookshelves around the room filled with books and other various things.
“Make yourself comfortable wherever you would like. I will be right back.” Glitch says before walking out of the room.
Hannah walks over and makes herself comfy on the couch, setting Hera down in her lap. The couch is soft, and she leans her head back. Anxiety filling her mind as tears prick her eyes. “Where are we, Hera…” She whispers towards the ceiling. The door slowly opens, and Hannah lifts her head.
“Someone is going to come back with some tea. I do not know how long it will be. Many of the freshmen are still getting settled and moved in, so things are a little chaotic.” Glitch says as she closes the door behind her.
“It’s okay. I don’t want to be a bother.” Hannah says, her voice small.
“You are not a bother. Now, let us start over at the beginning. My name is Glitch Crewel. I’m a 3rd year at this school.”
“My name is Hannah. This is Hera, my cat.” She gently pets Hera’s head.
Glitch smiles, looking down at the feline. “At least you are not alone, right?”
Hannah nods. “Yeah, I’m really glad she’s here with me.”
“Nothing is worse than being alone in a scary situation. I can only imagine what you are going through. However, let me give you some basic information.” Glitch gets up and grabs a notebook from one of the nearby bookshelves. Sitting back down, she flips to a clean page and grabs a pen from the coffee table. “Currently, you are at Night Raven College, a college for skilled mages that are chosen by the dark mirror.”
“But I’m not a mage. I don’t have any magic, and what is this dark mirror?” Hannah asks, shaking her head.
“The dark mirror is the mirror that talked to you. Every student stands before it, and it assigns them a dorm based on the nature of their soul. As for why you are here or why you were chosen, I wish I had answers for you.”
“But how did I get here? I just woke up in a coffin, and I was here?” Hannah says, her voice getting louder. Glitch watches as Hannah starts panicking again.
“Hey,” she puts a hand on Hannah’s shoulder, “everything is going to be okay. We are going to figure everything out, alright.” Glitch moves Hannah’s hand to place it on Hera’s head. “Here, pet your cat. Everything is going to be just fine.”
Hannah nods and buries her hands in Hera’s fur.
“Most students step into the dark carriage and arrive in those coffins for orientation. I am not really sure how it all works. Do you remember a dark carriage at all?”
Hannah shakes her head, tears slipping from her eyes.
“That is quite alright. Hey, look at me.” Hannah looks up at Glitch, who cups her face. “You are not alone. I am not from this world either.”
“You’re not?” Hannah asks, voice trembling.
Glitch smiles. “I am not. Just like you, I came from somewhere else many years ago. A man named Divus Crewel took me in despite me not even being human. He’s a professor here. Why don’t we go and see him tomorrow? I do not think we are gonna get much done on our own right now, and I know some rest will do you good. You can sleep in here tonight. You can take the bed.”
Hannah shakes her head vigorously, “No, I can’t take your room and bed from you.” She looks down at her cat, who meets her gaze. “I agree that getting some sleep may be the best thing right now, but I have a room!” She looks up at Glitch. “You’re already doing so much for me.”
“Your room is practically empty, and no one is going to get any rest in a room like that. You can sleep here. I tend to sleep on this couch more than my bed anyway. That bed rarely gets any use. The only reason it is not covered in dust is that I make sure to change everything regularly since my friends like to sit on it.”
“Are you sure?”
Glitch nods. “Yes, now let me go see if I can find that tea.”
“Wait, so Scarabia isn’t actually at this college?” Hannah asks. She was feeling a lot better after getting a good night's sleep. She had been surprised to see Glitch up and already working on something when she woke up; she didn’t peg Glitch as an early riser.
“Correct, none of the dorms are. Octavinelle is actually underwater.” Glitch says with a smile.
Hannah looks at Glitch with wide eyes. “Seriously?!”
Glitch laughs and nods. “Yes, I can take you over there sometime. I have a friend in that dorm.”
“That’s amazing! How does it work?” Hannah asks. She has so many questions, and with every answer, she becomes more intrigued.
“It is a lot of advanced magic, but we can talk about it all later; we are here.” Glitch says as she stops in front of a door. “This is my father’s office.”
“Are you sure it’s okay for us to just barge in?” Hannah asks, suddenly nervous.
“Of course.” Glitch responds before opening the door. “Father, I have found you a second child!”
“What?!” Hannah yells, looking at Glitch before she turns to look at the man sitting at the desk further inside the room.
He doesn’t even look up at the two of them before responding. “Let me guess, that useless head mage didn’t listen.”
“When does he ever listen to anyone?” Glitch immediately questions back, her voice full of sarcasm.
“Good point.”

Zero (TWST) - Zero and Riddle's First Meetings
So this is the drabble version. I want to eventually go back and fine-tune this, and then flesh it out. But I wanted to give some context to some of what I said in Zero's introduction post. Please enjoy this mess!
As first years on the first day
Zero: *wearing leggings under her uniform and a single glove (basically covering all of her prosthetics) she walks into class. First day* Excuse me, is this spot taken?
Riddle: it’s not. You’re free to sit there. *not looking up from where he is setting up his desk.*
Zero: Thank you *she doesn’t sit down right away, grabbing stuff from her bag and setting up her tech for note taking*
Riddle: No need for thank— *finally looks at her and sees her clothes. Her prosthetics are glowing in some parts under her leggings, so it looks like random spots of color are apart of them, and she’s only wearing one glove* What are you wearing! Such clothing is not appropriate attire to add to one’s uniform!
Zero: *was just about to sit down* huh? Excuse me?!
Riddle: if you are going to wear gloves, you must wear both! And those leggings are not fit for the uniform! Has they been a solid color, it could be considered!
Zero: *she looks at her leggings* They are a solid black! What are you even saying? And why is my uniform such a big deal for you!
Riddle: it is against the rules!
Zero: none of what I’m wearing is against the rules! My leggings are a solid color, and I don’t need both gloves! So shut it!
Riddle: *going red, about to say more*
Trien: Alright class, settle down.
Riddle: *shuts up and looks forward. Ignoring her. Zero then sits down*
Later (Lunch)
Zero: *next to Idia’s floating tablet* It was so fucking annoying! And he glared at me through the entire class! And he kept trying to yell and fight with me more in my other classes!
Idia: RIP
Zero: I managed to avoid him, but it was such a pain!
Idia: Gotta hate the try hards
Zero: ugh! I hate this so much. My leggings keep getting pinch around my knees and I’m pretty sure there’s going to be a hole by the end of the day.
Idia: You didn’t have to wear leggings on top of your prosths you know.
Zero: And have everyone pity me, ask questions, and treat me like a newb in an elite zone? No thanks. *she sits down at a table in the corner with her lunch* I didn’t even get to talk to many people. Was too busy fighting with these gloves to be able to take notes properly
Idia: Are they not registering on the tech?
Zero: No! Not to mention I had to dodge around and avoid the guy!
Idia: That’s rough. At least they had your favorite for lunch, right? *shes trying to eat it, but the glove is getting in the way*
Riddle: *having spotted Zero and was now on his way over to fuss at her more*
Zero: *getting frustrated she drops the fork and tears off the glove, it rips (part of it punched in one of the finger joints), and she throws away with a frustrated noise* I can’t fucking do this!
Idia: Ze-
Zero: *she moves to get up, but part of her leggings get caught in her knee joint and she stumbles, falling from the chair. With a growl she turns and rips the leggings open around the joint and pulls the fabric out of the joint before getting back up and storming out of the cafeteria*
Riddle: *now seeing the prosthetics, pauses, his mouth open*
Zero: *See Riddle in front of her* What? Got nothing to say?
Riddle: I—
Zero: *shakes her head* oh fuck off, I don’t want your pity.

TWST Chaos Drabbles - Zero 2
Zero: *slams the door open into the Diasomnia lounge where she’d been told Malleus was* MALLEUS!
Malleus: *turns to look at her dispute everyone else in the room jumping* What is it, Shroud? *there is interest in his voice, and possibly a little irritation?*
Zero: One, it’s Zero. Quit referring to me by my last name, it’s weird. *Malleus opens his mouth to say something, not liking her ordering tone, but gets cut off before he can say anything* Two! There are more important matters to deal with. *she starts walking over*
Malleus: *looks at Keres and then Silver who were also in the room. Silver sleeps and Keres just shrugs*
Zero: *she slams a flyer down on the coffee table in front of Malleus* Riddle is busy that day, and frankly, won’t enjoy it as much as I know you will with me. *she looks the far dead in the eyes* are you free Saturday? *the flier is for an ice cream festival*

TWST Chaos Drabbles - Zero and Keres 2
*Keres comes into the board game club room and sits down at the table with Azul and Idia, who are playing Uno*
Keres: Alright, deal me in
Idia: Huh? Aren’t you supposed to be in technomancy club RN? WTF happened there?
Keres: *grabbing cards to join in mid game* Not anymore
Azul: What exactly happened?
Idia: *plays a red 2* You can’t just join in mid game. Duh.
Keres: *before Azul can play a card, plays a red +2* Watch me. Draw 2 Azul
Azul: I don’t think so. *plays a green +2* Draw four Idia.
Idia: *SIGH* *Draws four cards* Fine. *Mumbling under his breath and rolling his eyes*
Keres: *plays a green 6*
Azul: *continues playing* So what happened exactly?
Keres: Was heading towards the club room, saw some pink smoke coming out from under the door and went ‘nope, fuck that.’ and here we are.
Idia: *Dryly* Lol. *Then plays a wildcard* Rip, idiots. No one knows how to build shit anymore. Yellow.
Azul: I can’t say I blame you.
Zero: * the club room opens once more and Zero comes in, covered in pink dust of some sort. She walks over and sits next to Idia* Deal me in.
Idia: *Hair turning an irritated orange as he slams his cards face-down with his face following while half groaning half screeching* That’s not how UNO works! *Keres hands Zero 7 cards*
Keres: Relax, we’re starting with the basic seven cards, which is more than you have. Calm down.
Azul: *eyeing Zero* What is all over you?
Zero: Not sure, but I’ve been assured it’s safe.
Keres: Was it Max?
Zero: Nope, one of the freshmen. *reverses the turn order*
Idia: *Sitting up and eyeing Zero for a moment, hiding a small snicker.* Pff, loser. Are you sure you wanna trust that?
Zero: No, but if I die, so be it. *places a plus 4 wildcard* Red.
Idia: *Having been about to respond to the death comment before hearing the color change and flipping the table* FUCK THAT!
Azul: IDIA!
Idia: *Unbothered and unapologetic* Oops.

TWST Chaos Drabbles - Keres 3
Silver: What do you have?
Keres: *looks up at Silver from where she was sitting on the ground, cupping something* Oh, hey Silver. Actually, you might be able to help me with this. *she shows him the bat in her hands that is repeatedly biting her* I found him on the ground, he’s injured pretty decently. Little thing is pretty angry with me, he doesn’t trust me, but I want to help him.
Silver: *crouches down to see the bat better* You shouldn’t let him bite you like that, they can carry a variety of diseases.
Keres: I’m aware, but my body will destroy it naturally before it can do anything. Plus I’m releasing the paralytic agent into my bloodstream so that should stop him from biting me and further injuring himself.
Silver: Ah, I forget you can do that.
Keres: I don’t know how, I’m constantly biting Sebek.
Silver: That’s true. *He fully sits down beside her and slowly reaches out to the bat* Shhh, we just want to help you *the bat looks at Silver and slowly stops biting Keres. It then reaches out to nuzzle Silver*
Keres: I love how good you are with animals.

TWST Chaos Drabble - Keres 2
Ruggie: Remind me why I’m sitting out to help you with this?
Keres: You’re the one that came running into the technomancy clubroom asking me to help fix the scoreboard.
Ruggie: Yeah, cause I figured you would be the only one able to fix it before the official match later this evening. I didn’t think you actually need help…
Keres: *She pauses what she’s doing and looks at Ruggie, who’s the one controlling the broom shes standing on* I can’t both keep the broom afloat and fix the board, all while trying to keep an eye out for rogue disks. *She goes back to working. She examines some wires* Looks like the wire connecting the receiver to the board is fried, that explains why you could get anything to change on here. *She grabs onto Ruggie’s shoulders* I need to get some stuff from my bag real quick. I should have what I need.
Ruggie: *He looks back at her* What? Do you just have a bunch of random wires and parts in your bag? *He starts taking them both to the ground*
Keres: …
Ruggies: You know what, I honestly should’ve expected that. You were always working on something in homeroom last year. *they get to the ground, and many of the Savannaclaw students were glaring at Keres, who shoots them back a sadistic grin and flips them off* Go grab what you need.
Keres: Working on it *she runs back to her bag and grabs a few things before running back over to Ruggie and standing on the broom again* Alright, back up we go.
Ruggie: *Complies* Why did it have to be me who helps anyway? Why not one of the freshmen?
Keres: *Begins working on the scoreboard again* I’m not trusting a freshman to keep me steady enough to avoid getting electrocuted or making the issue worse. *She pulls out the fried wires and stuff it in her pocket before starting to replace it.* Plus most of the members of your club are from Savannaclaw, I don’t have a death wish.
Ruggie: Still, there are a few non-freshmen that are from outside of Savannaclaw… And what about Ash?
Keres: Ruggie, *she looks at him* you’re one of the best fliers I know.*she gets back to work* Plus, it gets you out of practice, doesn’t it? Why are you complaining?

TWST Chaos Drabbles - Keres 1
*Silver, Sebek, Malleus, and Keres are hanging out in the dorm common area*
Sebek: *yelling about something to Silver*
Silver: *trying not to nod off*
Malleus: Reading a book*
Keres: *Headphones on, designing something on her tablet for the technomancy club* Sebek, either quit yelling or shut the hell up!
Sebek: EXCUSE ME?! *More yelling*
Keres: I GAVE YOU AN OPTION! *Grabs his arm and bites him. Malleus looks up from his book, and Silver seems more awake now.*
Sebek: THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU! *more yelling. Sways a bit and falls over* WHY CANT I MOVE?!
Keres: *sets her tablet and headphones on the end table* Silver, watch my stuff. *Shoves Sebek off of her and gets up* I told you to shut the hell up. *Starts dragging him out of the room*
Silver: *blinks* umm…
Malleus: *watches curiously*
(A few minutes later)
Keres: *walks back in alone and sits back down* Finally, no more yelling. *smiles and grabs her tablet to continue working on whatever she was working on*
Malleus: What did you do with Sebek?
Keres: *headphones in her hands* I got tired of his screaming, and he wouldn’t quiet down, so I got rid of him for the time being.
Silver: Where is he now?
Keres: In his closet.
Malleus: Why his closet?
Keres: I didn’t want anyone finding him and helping him, so I stuffed him in his own closet.
Silver: How did you even get into his room? He always locks it…
Keres: Don’t worry about the small things.
Silver: Alright then…
Malleus: *smiles and shakes his head*
