As much as I love truth serum fix-it fics where Shen Jiu spills all the secrets of his past and/or clears up all the rumors and misunderstandings surrounding him, I think that realistically, truth serum wouldn't fix his relationship with his sect siblings. It would make it worse.

First off, we have to assume that his reaction isn't to immediately summon Xiu Ya and slice out his own tounge (because let's be honest, I don't think anything is capable of forcing SJ to reveal secrets or spill truths he doesn't want to share). But in the event that he's compelled to suddenly reveal a truth he's buried deep in his heart...

I think it would send the entire sect into an uproar and make the other peak lords see him as an even bigger threat when he looks Yue Qingyuan dead in the eyes and admits, "I wish you had died."

YQY always left with the vague feeling that Something Isn't Quite Right, but saying nothing because he doesn't want to interfere with SQQ's happiness

YQY spotting mannerisms that were never SQQ's and would not have been picked up over 'memory loss'

YQY looking into SQQ's eyes and getting the vague feeling that he's looking at a stranger

YQY feeling guilty because he can't seem to drop this. Is this obsession? Is this his own selfish desire for resolution? Is this greed? Jealousy? Why can't be just be happy for his Xiao Jiu and move on?

YQY getting along with but not actually preferring this new SQQ

YQY stubbornly refusing to give up, bringing objects/phrases from their past to try and jog SQQ's memory, always setting himself up for disappointment

YQY always looking from afar with the pressing need to ask "who are you?"
