It's done.

Guys I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this journey has been. Personally, this January has been on the hard side. It's been harsh and it doesn't seem like it's going to stop any time soon. But knowing that every morning I'd wake up to your amazing creations made it a little bit more bearable, which is a lot.

A big thank you to everyone who participated or interacted. Who contributed to make this one hell of a ride. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

May we enjoy what is to come, whatever it is.

Day 29: Waiting

Just some thoughts on Waiting and Spatort, focussed on my favorite bond.

Leo waiting for Adam to return...

...and giving up at some point.

I wonder, what made Leo stay?

Was it a sense of obligation that tied him to Saarbrücken? Was it his family - or a certain lack thereof? We know that Caro, his sister, most likely still lives in Saabrücken.

I feel like Leo was used to being kind and protective from a young age. Maybe he grew up without a father? Maybe his mother had a really rough time bringing the kids up on her own?

You know, there is this saying... when one person gets lost in a crowd, the other should stay where they last saw them. That way, they can find each other again

I can't help but feel like one reason for Leo staying was that he was waiting for Adam.

Actually, what about Adam?

2. Adam waiting for the right moment

If you’ve been away and out of touch with people who mean a lot to you, you might recognize this feeling: the waiting. Waiting for the right moment to return, to reach out, to reconnect.

Have you ever felt this way? Sitting on a long train ride or spending hours on a bus, imagining what you’ll say when you arrive and how the reunion will unfold… Did you wait too long? How much have you both changed? Or will you find a way to revive the bond you once shared?

Day 27: Favorite actor / actress

I'd like to highlight some of the minor roles with this post. 1. Lida Tellmann, 2. Roland Schürk and Manuela Baron - but also, last but not least, 3. Adam Schürk.

1. Lida Tellmann (Marie Anne Fliegel)

Lida makes for an excellent first culprit - not only because she’s so likable, but also because her story touches on themes central to Leo and Adam’s character arcs: unresolved past trauma, the search for home and forgiveness, and facing consequences, no matter how dire they may be.

I never doubted for a moment that she was Lida - and when she broke down in tears during the confession scene, I almost did too. The actress delivered an incredible performance, especially when you consider how completely different (but equally fantastic) she was as Annemarie Nyssen, the matriarch in Babylon Berlin. Honestly, it took me nearly an entire season and the credits to finally realize - wtf, she’s also Lida from Spatort?!

2. Roland Schürk, Manuela Baron (and Boris Barns)

A good TV series villain relies on great acting.

While villains rarely top anyone’s list of favorite characters (though exceptions like the Joker prove otherwise), I have to commend the performances of Torsten Michaelis (Roland) and Ursula Berlinhof (Manuela). For a villain to truly work, they can’t just be purely evil - you need to, at least to some degree, understand where they’re coming from.

3. Adam Schürk (Daniel Sträßer)

He truly embodies Adam for me.

There's not much else to add - I really appreciate his performance, especially how he digs into Adam's pain and spite (like towards Roland). It’s just great work.

I should mention that I’ve never been one for idols. I don’t follow any of them on social media (especially since I left some platforms, like Insta, for mental health reasons). So, I don’t have a 'favorite actor/actress' in that sense.

But, I do notice what gets reblogged here on tumblr. And just based on that, when it comes to our main four: I admire how Vladi speaks out against the war Russia waged on Ukraine, and especially how Daniel is very outspoken against the AfD. I think it’s very dangerous to be 'apolitical' these days, and it's crucial to speak out against fascism, particularly if you have a platform. So, I really appreciate that Daniel does that.

As philosopher Hannah Arendt said: "The sad truth of the matter is that most evil is done by people who never made up their minds to be or do either evil or good."

Day 26: Favorite character trait(s).

Aufjedenfall Leos typische Geste, die Hand in den Nacken legen.

Und Adam, der, wenn er weiß, dass er etwas falsch gemacht hat/sich wie ein Arsch benommen hat oder weiß, dass er Leo enttäuscht hat etc. und dann betroffen auf den Boden schaut.

Am besten finde ich, dass sich Leo und Adam auch ohne Worte verstehen wie bei der Szene in "Herz der Schlange".

Day 26: Favorite character trait(s)

This actually isn't an easy one.

I like Leo’s protectiveness and loyalty, Pia’s dedication to her job and seeking justice, Adam’s unapologetic nature and his courage to break free from his abusive family, and Esther’s determination to uphold rules to keep everything from dissolving into chaos.

But... to the amount they express them?

Don't get me wrong, they're all super interesting as characters. I like my characters being troubled and broken little dumdums.

But that being said, I don’t think they express these traits in a particularly healthy way or to a healthy amount just yet ("...könnte man denken, ihr habt ne toxische Beziehung" - you don't say? 👀)

If I had to pick a favorite dynamic to watch from a distance (like two Snaplights you crack and shake to make a mesmerizing combination of glowing blue and orange), it’d have to be Leo and Adam.

But if you asked me which of the four characters I’d choose to be - based on their current traits?

I’d probably go with Esther.

She seems grounded - she takes time for herself, has hobbies, separates work and leisure and still wants to do good police work. She seems like the most balanced member of this dysfunctional bunch. I’d like that. I’d like to have that kind of balance in my life.

That said, as fictional characters, I adore them as their over-the-top, broken little dumdum selves, glowing in the dark. It makes them far more interesting, especially when they have so much to overcome. So yeah… overall, great traits for fictional characters, I guess.

Technically it would be Daniel but I wanted to appreciate Vladimir Korneev as Rasa Huiblot

(he was so done with Adam's bullshit here)

I think his performance is amazing. He communicated all of his emotions, reactions etc. solely through eyes and body language and one was able to somehow get a grasp of his character which is insane to me.

Da ich mich nicht zwischen Vladimir und Daniel entscheiden konnte/wollte, gibt es nun beide:

Hab ein paar Szenen aus verschiedenen Filme rausgesucht und diese dann als Collage erstellt.
