The point of the statement about “hiding behind women” was simply that someone else had to do the work for you. She happened to be a woman, but it could have been said just as easily about a man, or anyone, of any identity, really. Misogyny has nothing to do with it; As a matter of fact, Vanny is commended for doing what you could not. If anything, one could suspect that she is deflecting, trying to reinforce that she is on your side… After all, she did parade around insisting that you and Douglas were not to be trusted; But surely, you knew that already and simply moved past it?
