With chapters 3 & 4 of deltarune coming out soon I wanted to point this out

So in deltarune there seems to be this motif with eyes being missing or covered up. Kris, Susie, Ralsei, and Lancer cover up their eyes when you first meet them. Early in chapter one there is a puzzle that states only eyes blinded by darkness can see the way.

Ralsei’s eyes only get revealed after he takes off his cloak and Susie only reveals her eyes after trusting Kris. We rarely see Lancer’s eyes (but that talk sprite is most likely a gag). And we never truly see the eyes of both of the chapter’s main villains (but Queen’s screen thing could be her eyes), or the secret bosses. Jevils eyes seem to be replaced by slits while Spamton’s are covered up by his glasses. We only see Kris’s eyes once they are in control of themselves again and when entering the dark world in chapter 2. Another thing is that the werewire and werewerewire enemies don’t show their eyes until they’re freed. Both sprites that could be Gaster are either missing eyes or are replaced by slits. With all of this being said I’m thinking it could mean that revealing eyes has to do with free will and control. It’s hammered into us that we have no choice in Deltarune (except for the snowgrave route) and with it being said that only characters that have lost free will can see also seems to tie into this. When we free werewires they show their eyes again showing their back in control. Berdly’s eyes get covered up when he’s controlled by Queen. I don’t know if this is just some crazy coincidence or if it were planned but this theme with eyes being covered seems to be connected to free will and the overall or choices don’t matter theme in deltarune.
