The song of Achilles Book Rv
Today will be a book review based on Greek and Roman myths and legends. The song of Achilles was published in 2011 and written by the American writer, Madeline Miller.
The book discusses the tale of the Trojan war in the POV of young Patrolocus who was most famous for being Achilles' companion… However it was not just about the Trojan war as this war is familiar to all of us even if we aren’t historically obsessed. The narrative entails the coming of age between two boys, Achilles and Patrolocus and how they growed up together and endured everything with one another.
Miller also includes familiar faces such as Odysseus, Agamenmon etc. In a nutshell the Trojan war occured because of the kidnapping of Helen of Sparta. Some writers may say Helen went willingly while others believe she was kidnapped by Paris who was a Trojan. Menelaus was Helen’s husband and due to her abrupt absence he brought war between the Greeks and the Trojans to bring her back. Miller writes this book in a Greek perspective and instead of it being a famous war hero like Achilles as the narrator it is his friend.
Having a simple and minimalist narrator makes it more of a relatable bond between the reader and the character. This furthermore makes the book a better perception of the characters and the nature of war. Historical fiction has always been more absorbing than non-fiction personally as it draws more emotions and it makes you feel more present in the narrative. I definitely recommend this book especially if you’re engrossed in this genre of history.

That's my boy film review 👶🤷♂️
This comedy/drama is available on Netflix and was released in 2012. The age rating is 15 and is 1hr and 54 mins.
Adam Sandler plays the obtrusive character of Donny who had a child with his x-rated highschool teacher (Susan Sarandon). He raised his kid, Todd (Andy Samberg) single-handedly, however that didn’t mean he was the best of parents…. On Todd's 18th birthday Todd moved out and they lost touch. Years later Donny decides to revive their father son relationship by surprising Todd the day before his wedding with the gorgeous Jamie (Leighton Meester - who is very famous for her role in gossip girl!). The question is, will Todd be welcoming and hospitable to his father or will he shut him out again?
The film had a real facetious narrative the whole way through and I definitely would watch again for a midnight titter. I found that it covered a serious topic in such a humorous way which made it more enjoyable and quite groundbreaking as it is about the struggles of having a child at such a young age and the consequences that can occur if the child isn’t raised in the right environment.
The director, Sean Adams and the screenplay writer, David Caspe certainly tackled the taboo of having a child in highschool by turning this story into a school lesson itself. Having entertaining and comical sketches allows us to have a deeper understanding of this significant topic and makes it more attainable to the audience.

Through My Window 🏡💕🏡
Through my window (2022) is a spanish romcom directed by Marçal Forès. It’s a 15 and you can watch it on Netflix in either Spanish, English or French. Eduard Solo (screenplay writer) tells the story of an adolescent girl named Raquel (Clara Galle) who is neighbors with a rich family called the Hidalgos. She develops a long term infatuation with one of the sons, Ares (Julio Peña). The question is will the witch be able to win over his insensitive heart or will she put her spell book to rest. This coming of age drama ticks all the boxes of teenagehood and makes it a very relatable movie. These young actors definitely have potential and I would love to see them in more sketches. I found that the main character had a lot of emotions which Clara Galle executed perfectly along with the brilliant collaboration between all the actors. Even though Raquels best friends, Yoshi (Guillermo Lasheras) and Daniela (Natalia Azahara) had smaller roles, they were definitely by far one of my favorites. Natalia made the role her own and gave the character an older sister vibe which made her even more lovable and Guillermo showed so much relatability as he was her best friend but also Raquels life companion. The audience for this film would definitely target 15-20 as it shows the endeavors of being a teenager and for those who have passed adolescence it is a film of nostalgia of being a teen and having that freedom and independence, all of which are filled with mistakes and lessons.

Girls trip film review ✈🎉🎉
Girls trip is a light hearted comedy that is a NO1 watch with your best friends. It was directed by Malcom D.Lee and was released in 2017. You can stream it on Netflix and it’s rated a 15.
Girls trip is about the reunion of 4 soulmates in which Ryan (Regina Hall) is given the opportunity to speak at a festival in New Orleans. She decides it is also a great opportunity to bring the Flossy posse back into action by inviting her best friends along. As the trip goes on, Ryan, Dina (Tiffany Haddish), Sasha (Queen Latifa) and Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith) realize the importance of friendship during the trials at clubs, fun nights out and disputes between one another.
This film shows the humorous and wild side of these girls and how when brought together their worries are taken away from their stressful work life. This film also intertwines a beautiful message : You shouldn’t hide from your own life by living out a fake one, instead you should face the chaos instead of trying to be a ‘perfect face’ to the public. This is a great interpretation of anyone whether they are a celeb or not and it is an inspiring message.
I have personally watched this film multiple times for a good chuckle and it is even better when you watch it with your friends!!

8 mile film review
8 mile is an autobiography of the famous Hip hop rapper Eminiem which depicted his early life before he came to fame. The film is rated a 15 and was released in 2002, you can find it on Netflix and Amazon prime video.
Eminem himself plays the main character Jimmy Smith Jr who goes by his stage name B.rabbit. Jimmy grew up with a single mother (Kim Basigner) and when he was older he returned to her intoxicating trailer where his younger sister was still growing up. Jimmy tried to provide for his sister, his alcoholic mother and her maverick boyfriend. However the events became chaotic.
Jimmy dreamed of becoming a rapper by attending rap concerts that his friend hosted. Although he faced many foes which he competed with in concerts and his own personal life. One of his main rivals was Papa Doc (Anthony Mackie) who tested B rabbit's talent to his full extent.
This film brings hip hop and drama together creating a grungy and menacing atmosphere for the protagonist due to the level of struggle to become a rapper as it was heavily influenced by black culture. This is definitely targeted to those who are influenced and attentive to rap culture and the life of Eminem when he was growing up. Tying things together, this flick only narrates the foundation of Eminem starting up as a rapper and not his career afterwards, which creates a more engaging tone as it zooms into his juvenility.
Overall this film is a message of dedication and equality which is artistically intertwined with one another by the aid of Curtis Hanson (director) and co. who brought this anecdote to life.
