🌻 note: i love these silly little crustaceans, i don't know a lot about them though unfortunately!! please let me know if any of my facts are wrong, i'd love to learn more about them <3

fun fact:

giant isopod's are usually between 7.5 and 14.2 inches in length but can even get bigger: one specimen was pulled up by an rov in 2010 was recorded as 2.5 feet long! scientists believe they get this big as to withstand the extreme pressure of the deep ocean.

rollie pollies curl up when threatened just like pillbugs!! this allows them to protect their soft organs or even keep their food away rom other animals by encapsulating it.

Isopods have over 10,000 species worldwide!!; around 4,500 of those species are found in marine environments, mostly on the seabed, 500 species in fresh water; the last 5,000 species on land!

terrestrial isopods are edible; and supposedly taste like shrimp :o
