Remus acts like such a grumpy git but all it takes is a slightly deeper than normal sigh from Sirius and he’s all “what’s wrong love? Are you tired? Did you sleep ok? Did you have a nightmare? Does your head hurt? Do you need water? When did you last eat? I’ll make you some lunch. I’ve got paracetamol in my bag. Come here, I’ll give you a cuddle”. He’s such a softy.

thinking about this post i saw once, talking about how carefully measured canon remus is with his words- like that he never uses a contraction. he never misspeaks. and like!! obviously we do generally shy away from canon but i quite like this bit because it’s so sad. he has been hiding so many things for his whole life to the point that it shows through the way he speaks. he hides his being a werewolf. he hides lily and james’s existences for a time- not as the secret keeper, but just that they’re alive. he hides his relationship with sirius. he hides the order of the phoenix and their plans. once sirius returns, he hides himself and sirius away from the rest of the world. he’s had to hide so many things to the point where he is so carefully measured in his talking!!! because he can’t slip up about anything!!! and the people who know all of him are all dead!!! heartbreaking!!!

remus lupin. tour guide. he takes his job Very Seriously™—neatly pressed shirt, memorized facts, voice steady as he leads groups of tourists through a historic castle/museum/landmark.

enter sirius black. leather jacket. sunglasses. absolutely does not belong among the fanny packs and guidebooks.

and he’s terrible at being a tourist—keeps interrupting remus’s carefully prepared spiel with questions like “but how many ghosts live here?” and “if you had to duel one of these statues, which would be the toughest?”

remus tries to keep it professional but sirius is both (a) ridiculously charming and (b) clearly enjoying watching him try not to smile.

so it turns into this whole running bit where sirius keeps coming back—always on remus’s tours, never anyone else’s. sometimes he drags regulus, sometimes he shows up alone. he asks more and more ridiculous questions each time, just to get a reaction.

the other tourists love it because suddenly every tour is hilarious. remus is gritting his teeth but also secretly having fun.

and then one day…remus finds out sirius isn’t actually a tourist. he’s part-owner of the damn place. like the castle/museum/heritage site? yeah. black family money. he’s just been hanging around his building, bothering remus, because it’s the only thing that makes the place feel alive.

React to all criticism with yet more repetitive ad hominems
