Week 11: Facebook Livestream Event
Technical Skills Acquired
-          To prepare by limiting distractions before the live-stream. Ensuring I was prepared in the answers I was going to give by rehearsing a few times, testing the lighting in the room and other elements to ensure a smooth video
-          Learning the difference between broadcasting horizontally and vertically, with horizontal shooting used to show more of the surroundings (Huber 2020), which in a small apartment was not what I believed people would want to see. A vertical broadcast was used for a more intimate one on one chat
-          Attempting to be as authentic as possible and understand that live-streaming offers the chance to build relationships and show your true self rather than attempting to market yourself (Gray 2020). Because of this, I wanted to be myself and as real as I could possibly be
-          Ensuring good upload speeds were active at the time of broadcast to limit lag
-          Holding the camera as still as possible to prevent a shaky cam
How Live-streams serve a sporting organisation from a Business Perspective
-          Provides unique content to their viewers which is something that consumers are consistently asking for
-          A cost-effective strategy for organisations to produce content for viewers. Only need a camera/phone
-          Creates more excitement around certain releases, such as a new jumper the organisation is unveiling (Haimson & Tang 2015)
-          Drive more consumers to their page and can see and obtain real time engagement data. Facebook live is a great testing spot for a sports organisation looking to test if a specific piece of content will perform
How live-streams add to the fan experience
-          Allows fans to engage with organisations or athletes in real time, a concept that greatly excites any sports lover
-          Behind the scenes access for supporters, which could include a day in the life of an athlete or introducing the fans to the team.
-          More interactive content, allowing for fans to have a greater sense of connection with their favourite sports team (SVG News 2015)

Week 9: Golf Instructional Video
Technical Skills Acquired
-          Dragging videos into the timeline of Adobe Premiere Pro
-          Syncing audio of both camera feeds. Key to this for me was to find a spot where both sets of audios had exact wave lengths and use the cutting and dragging tool to sync them together
-          Putting together a list of keyboard shortcuts, especially the in and out features and cutting tool, to save time going through the videos (Ward 2015)
-          Using two different camera angles of the same footage. Understanding that most of the footage used will be wide shot coverage with a sprinkling of close ups when they were performing a shot (Beyond the Sight 2019)
-          Use of colour grading (Lumentri Colour). Understanding contrasts and brightness and how transparent both camera angles needed to be. These settings were copied and pasted onto every cut throughout the edit
-          Use of a title screen
How instructional videos serve a sporting organisation from a Business Perspective
-          Give fans a better understanding of how to improve in an area of their game, giving a fan a positive experience with that organisation
-          Greater exposure for an organisation’s athletes/star players, allows for positive exposure for the organisation
How instructional videos add to the fan experience
-          Give fans a better understanding of how to improve in an area of their game
-          Witness athletes in a more natural setting

Week 7: Video Interview
Technical Skills Acquired
-          Setting up a camera and lighting and learning how background objects can affect the lighting and cause various shadows. Because key lighting was used in the production, learning that the key light is to not be placed near the camera or else the lighting will become dim was an important lesson
-          Capturing footage from a wide dynamic range. One key lesson from framing was to shoot myself above eye level to enhance the emotional viewing experience for the viewer. Because a character will very rarely stay neutral during a video shoot, shooting from above or below eye level guides the emotional experience (Beyond the Sight 2019)
-          Using different tones in my voice so the video sounded interesting and no flat and monotone
How video interviews serve a sporting organisation from a Business Perspective
-          Can help in selling their star athletes to their consumer base, especially if the video is tightly controlled and edited, leading to increased exposure
-          They can be used to promote a key message or any advertising or sponsors
-          Keep connected with their fans, especially through social media. This in turn will allow businesses to track viewing data of consumers to give them a more rounded understanding of what content fans want (Witkemper et al 2014)
How video interviews add to the fan experience
-          Give fans unprecedented access to their favourite athlete or team.
-          Video interviews allow a fan to gain a deeper understanding of athletes and the mindset that is required to become a professional athlete
-          Provides a great first impression for fans, will highlight the benefits that new technologies can provide in giving fans the content that they want (Vale & Fernandes 2017)

Week 6: 3 Photos
Week 6: 3 Photos
Technical Skills Acquired
-          Ensuring the stance is stable to increase the sharpness of photos (Singler 2020)
-          Examining light before the shot is taken, understanding if a bright light causes a shadow, how is the shadow impacted if the subject of the photo is moved.
-          Adjusting the autofocus on a camera and using features such as Al Servo (allowing the camera to focus as it moves around the frame)
-          Understanding the rule of thirds and rule of symmetry and ensuring all 3 pieces were symmetrical and had the subject focused along the intersections of the grids.
How photos serve a sporting organisation from a Business Perspective
-          Increase engagement on social media platforms, which in turn will enhance the businesses the overall image and obtain more fans and sponsors through the powerful messaging a photo can have (All in Brand 2016).
-          Targeting photos to a consumer base can create a non-stop spreading effect if the images are powerful enough and convey something of meaning. This effect will help a sports organisation uncover a new audience and increase its overall online presence.
-          Organisations can highlight any social functions or merchandise through imagery, and if these are presented professionally it will increase an organisations overall opinion amongst its fan base (Kutz 2015). Also, an easy way for businesses to recognise their sponsors
How photos add to the fan experience
-          Photos that are taken with meaning and beauty behind them a study by Emmons & McCullough (2003) found that people displayed significantly higher levels of satisfactions and were much happier after viewing the images. With sporting organisations continuing to post images such as this, it benefits the fans greatly
-          Can leave a lasting impression on a fan of a moment or event, giving them a sense of nostalgia and positive feelings.
-          Can describe and capture a moment perfectly for a fan without them having to read about it

Week 5: Audio Piece (My Sporting Dream)
Week 5: Audio Piece (My Sporting Dream)
Technical Skills Acquired
-          The importance of keeping a microphone as still as possible whilst speaking. Too much movement of a mic can increase background noise and the audio can become stilted, meaning the mixing of the audio can become a more onerous task in post-production
-          Adding of sound effects and music within Adobe Premiere Pro. An audio check was also conducted for maximum quality sound
-          Ensuring all background noise and dead spots were cut from the audio for better flow
-          The importance of having a pre-prepared list of key topics being spoken about. Multiple times different takes had to be taken because I was just trying to speak off the cuff and its incredibly difficult to do.
How audio pieces serve a sporting organisation from a Business Perspective
-          They can create a distinctive and memorable brand identity. If a sports organisation plays ads or airs content that matches their brand positioning, it will conjure strong brand associations across their consumer base (Wren 2019)
-          A study conducted by Krinshan et al (2012), highlighted that within audio pieces the sound of presenters will impact a consumer’s willingness to spend money with that organisation. Therefore, it is imperative for a sports team to ensure they have highly experienced and professional people with voices that fit the brand or risk losing advertising dollars
-          A focused approach to an organisations sound in audio pieces can increase trust consumers place with that organisation
How audio pieces add to the fan experience
-          Using the right mix of presenters and sound effects on audio pieces has the ability to reduce stress by up to 10% from listening (Han 2013), aiding in a more satisfying experience for fans
-          Can be played anywhere by fans, with the vast majority having access to a smartphone. Can listen about their favourite team or player at any part of the day and whilst performing any task throughout the day, increasing satisfaction

Week 4: Producing A Podcast
Technical Skills Acquired
-          Understanding the need for sample rates, to ensure they are 44.1K to a bit depth of 24 bits for quality sound
-          Using the Noise Reduction suite in Audition to remove any sections of audio that contained only the background noise
-          Use of audio compression to obtain a consistent level of audio throughout the podcast to ensure no large volume spikes
-          Finding similarities in audio spikes to be able to zoom in and bring them together to sync both myself and Nathan’s audio up
-          When filming audio with a handheld phone, keeping it close to your mouth to ensure maximum quality sound.
How Podcasts serve a sporting organisation from a Business Perspective
-          Podcasts are valuable for an organisation because they cost-effective, they eliminate many costs, namely video costs that are incurred from filming pieces to camera.
-          Podcasting is also an on-demand technology, with 32% of people worldwide listening to a podcast weekly (Whitner 2020). With this in mind, businesses can use this digital form to deliver information that fans crave and in turn will lead to increased customer brand identification for the business (Arnould 2009).
-          Podcasts could utilise new revenue streams for sporting organisations, having the ability to be monetised and having ads throughout (Rubashow 2016). 61% of sport podcast listeners have purchased something because of an ad in a podcast, displaying how vital the podcast medium can become for sporting organisations (Zarkovic 2016)
How Podcasts add to the fan experience
-          Podcasts have the ability to make the content delivered personal to the listener. It is a far more intimate way to obtain information about a consumer’s favourite athlete or team, rather than reading an email or document (Finklestein 2020). This, in turn, leads to increased team identification for a fan, leading to a more satisfying experience
-          Adds to the social experience, with many podcast users tending to talk with friends and other fans about the podcasts they listen to (McLung & Johnson 2010). This will overall enhance the experience of a fan.
