Tata-owned Air India to acquire 250 Airbus aircraft
Tumblr media
Tata-owned Air India to acquire 250 Airbus aircraft
A350 aircraft of choice for Air India’s renaissance in long haul travel
A320 Family to be the cornerstone of Air India’s domestic and regional fleet
Mumbai, 14 February 2023 – The Tata Group-owned Air India has announced its commitment to order 250 Airbus aircraft to boost its domestic and international operations. The commitment includes 140 A320neo and 70 A321neo single-aisle aircraft as well as 34 A350-1000 and six A350-900 wide-body jets that will mark a new era for the country as the all-new, long-range aircraft celebrates its debut in the Indian market.
The order aims to both modernise and expand the airline’s fleet with the objective of creating a larger and premium full-service carrier that will cater to the growing travel demand in the region. Deliveries are set to commence with the first A350-900 arriving by late-2023.
“Airbus has been a longstanding partner of Air India, and these new aircraft will play an important part in delivering Vihaan.AI, Air India’s comprehensive transformation and growth strategy,” said Campbell Wilson, CEO and MD, Air India. “A core element of this transformation is the significant expansion of our network, both domestically and internationally, coupled with the elevation of our on-ground and onboard product to world-class standards. This order marks the start of a new chapter for both Airbus and Air India.”
“This is a historic moment for Airbus and for Air India. India is on the verge of an international air travel revolution and we are honoured that our partnership with the Tatas and our aircraft solutions will write that new chapter for the country’s air-connectivity,” says Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International. “The A350’s unique capability will unlock the pent-up potential of India’s long-haul market, its technology, long reach and second to none comfort will enable new routes and passenger experience with better economics and enhanced sustainability. Alongside the A350s, the A320 Family fleets will be the efficient, versatile asset to continue democratising and decarbonising air travel in the country – from domestic, regional, up to international levels.”
Christian Scherer adds: “We salute Air India for its visionary strategy, picking the two reference aircraft types in each of their categories. We are thrilled and humbled to see these aircraft become the cornerstones of Air India’s renaissance. This fleet will propel the airline globally where it deserves to be - with the best.
Over the next decade, India will grow to have the largest population in the world, its economy will expand the fastest among the G20 nations, and a burgeoning middle class will spend more on air travel. As a result, passenger traffic in India will grow fast, including on the long-range markets in the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific that the A350 is well positioned to serve.
The A350 is the world’s most modern and efficient wide-body aircraft in the 300-410 seater category. The A350’s clean sheet design includes state-of-the-art technologies and aerodynamics delivering unmatched standards of efficiency and comfort. Its new generation engines and use of lightweight materials bring a 25 per cent advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.
The aircraft offers a 3-class configuration cabin that is the quietest of any twin-aisle and offers passengers and crew the most modern in-flight products for the most comfortable long-range flying experience.
The A321neo is the longest-fuselage member of Airbus’ best-selling, single-aisle A320 Family, comfortably seating 180 to 220 passengers in a typical two-class layout, and as many as 244 in a higher-density arrangement. The A320neo has already set the standards as the world’s most comfortable short-to-medium-haul aircraft that typically accommodates from 140 to 170 passengers, with a maximum capacity of up to 180 travellers. Its environmental performance allows for at least 20 per cent less fuel burn and CO2 emissions as well as 50 per cent noise reduction, compared to previous generation aircraft.

Pilot shortage leads local school to create aviation track for students
Tumblr media
By reporter Emily Wood and videographer Tim Leimkuhler, KY3 News
There is a serious problem on the horizon for every major airline: a pilot shortage expected to grow worse as thousands more pilots retire. That means thousands of jobs for new pilots. One school is working to make the training accessible right here in the Ozarks.
"It's a lot more book work and studying outside of flying than people realize it is," said Austin Pippin, a certified flight instructor at the new school in Springfield.
Leads Aviation set up a partnership with Ozarks Technical Community College to make opportunities in aviation possible locally.
"It's the perfect time to get in the industry right now just because of all the jobs that are opening up. The pilot shortage that's coming -- you could not be getting into aviation at a better time," Pippin said.
Numbers from Boeing project the aviation industry will need 617,000 new commercial airline pilots by 2035. The first big wave of mandatory retirements will hit between now and 2022, according to recent statistics.
For Pippin, the closest place to get his initial training was Warrensburg. He is thankful now for the chance to train others back home.
There is an aviation open house Thursday night from 4 to 8 Leads Aviation on the general aviation side of the Springfield - Branson National Airport, at the west end of Kearney Street. OTC, professional pilots, and others, will all be there to offer information about the industry and education requirements and opportunities.

Asia Pacific Needs 500,000 Pilots, Technicians by 2035.
[Avionics Magazine 12-8-2016] Airlines and operators based in the Asia Pacific will need 500,000 new pilots and technicians to support the region’s expanding demand for new aircraft deliveries through 2035, according to the 2016 pilot and technician outlook released by Boeing on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The outlook, a leading industry forecast of aviation personnel demand, anticipates the need for 248,000 new commercial airline pilots and 268,000 new technicians through 2035.
Tumblr media
Boeing unveiled its 2016 Pilot & Technician Outlook for the Asia-Pacific region today, projecting a demand for more than 500,000 pilots and technicians over the next 20 years. Photo: Thomas Hanser.
The Boeing Pilot & Technician Outlook is closely tied to projections for new airplane deliveries around the globe. The demand for new pilots is primarily driven by new airplane deliveries and fleet mix, while new technician demand is primarily driven by fleet growth.
As with personnel demand, the Asia-Pacific region also leads the demand for new commercial airplane deliveries over the next 20 years. The region comprises 40 percent of the global need due to fleet growth in the single-aisle market, driven by low-cost carriers.
According to Boeing's 2016 Current Market Outlook, 15,130 new airplanes, valued at $2.35 trillion, will be needed in the Asia-Pacific region by 2035.

2023 Pilots - What Does 2023 Look Like For Pilots?
Tumblr media
Firstly, I want to start this blog post by wishing you a very happy New Year. I hope 2023 is your year and, whatever your goals are, that you achieve them.
I can't believe that over 10,000 of you a month are now reading these blog posts and visiting this website. I do genuinely hope it's proving useful to you.
Just a reminder that if you are interested in flight training, I have written a very thorough and extensive guide that will provide you with all the information you could ever need, all in one place.
2023 For The Aviation Industry
I genuinely think 2023 will be a great time to become an airline pilot, or even if you are already flying commercially, many opportunities are coming our way.
Especially after such a terrible 2020/2021 in the aviation industry.
Is There A Pilot Shortage?
Yes, there is an insane pilot shortage.
We've already discussed this shortage in detail in a blog post where we discussed how Delta Airlines pilots are seeing a 34% pay rise because the pilot shortage is so dire in America!
The supply is far less than demand, which is excellent for anyone looking to start their pilot training or pursue their commercial pilot license at any flight school.
Our Readers Favourite Blog Posts:
Why Are Pilots Tested On Their Maths?
How Much Does It Cost To Become A Pilot?
How Long Does It Take To Become A Commercial Pilot 2023
How Hard Is It To Become A Pilot?
Why Is There A Pilot Shortage?
This pilot shortage is expected to get even worse in the future.
Reporters from Oliver Wyman Analysis said the following:
This shortage is far worse in America due to the"1,500 Hour Rule", which increased the minimum flight time required to become a commercial airline pilot from 250 to 1,500 hours.
Whereas aviators in the UK/Europe still only require these 250 hours of flight experience (as well as the instrument rating, single-engine and multi-engine ratings etc.).
With the growth of air traffic, the demand for pilots has increased, yet the number of newly qualified cadets entering the profession has not kept pace.
Factors such as stricter regulations, more extended training requirements, and an ageing workforce population contribute to the shortage.
See this form in the original post
We must also remember that in the UK, the retirement age for professional flyers has recently increased from 55 to 65 years old.
This means we may now see a record number of captains and first officers retiring over the next 2-5 years, creating an even more significant shortage, especially in the UK and Europe.
So Are Airlines Recruiting?
YES.
For the first time since COVID, many airlines are beginning their recruitment process. Indeed, my airline plans on recruiting the maximum number of recruits they can train this year.
Many will move from airline to airline this year for various reasons, such as better pilot salary/pay, better terms and conditions, or a better pilot's lifestyle.
Are Any Airlines Paying For Flight Training?
YES!
I'm delighted to see a large international airline open up its sponsored training scheme.
TUI has opened up its pilot cadet program, which means cadets over 18 years old will now have the opportunity to embark on their MPL program!
Tumblr media
Are Airline Pilot Salaries On The Rise?
Salaries are increasing at record levels in America.
As mentioned above, Delta Airlines have just seen an astronomical pay rise of over 34% over the next three years.
Pilots in the UK and Europe aren't seeing these same explosive increases in their salaries, and most airlines offer pay raises following inflation.
However, I see this pilot shortage going from just an issue in North America to worldwide, and I believe that all airline salaries will need to increase soon for airlines to retain their pilots.
Especially if America opens their Green Card applications and begins allowing pilots from the UK and Europe to fly there, this would mean those airlines in the UK and Europe could see a considerable number of their workforce exit to go and fly commercially in the USA.
How Much Do Commercial Pilots Make?
Other Things To Consider In 2023
The days of COVID lockdowns, mass redundancies and empty airports now seem like a distant memory.
No one knows what the future may hold, but the airline industry continues to recover every day we move away from the pandemic.
We must remember at the moment that the world faces a potential global recession, and things do change.
However, the forecast for the airline industry's recovery continues to look promising, and growth in the aviation industry and predicted airline profits are all set to increase with time.

Airbus A320 Pilots.
Want to earn $300,000 tax free? Try flying a plane in China
Chinese airlines are offering huge pay packages to tempt foreign pilots as demand for air travel balloons.
Some carriers are advertising salaries of more than $300,000 a year -- and they say they'll cover the tax bill, too.
"There's not enough pilots in the world to fill the demand," said Dave Ross, the CEO of Wasinc International, a firm that finds pilots for Chinese airlines. "This is why the pay keeps going higher."
China will need between 4,000 and 5,000 new airline pilots every year for the next two decades, analysts estimate. Chinese airlines are among the fastest growing on the planet -- at home and abroad -- and they're the biggest buyers of jetliners from Airbus(EADSF) and Boeing (BA).
Training schools in China aren't churning out enough pilots to keep up with the industry's meteoric growth, and there's an acute shortage of experienced captains.
The airlines' rich offers have attracted industry veterans from all around the globe.
"Before I was flying anywhere from 80-100 hours a month. Here, I only fly 50 for pretty much three times the pay," said Jeff Graham. He left a job with cargo airline Southern Air in San Antonio, Texas, last year to work for a carrier in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen.
Tumblr media
"There were a couple of other options in Asia, but the pay -- the best rate now -- is in China," said Fernando, who declined to be identified by his full name because he didn't have permission from the airline to speak publicly. He and his wife moved to Chengdu in August, and he recently finished his training.
Western pilots have long chased the financial incentives that come with hot demand for their skills and experience.
Related: Boeing eyes China focus with new sales chief
Veteran aviators who once flew for U.S. and European airlines upped sticks previously for Middle Eastern carriers. Some of those same pilots are now headed from Dubai to China, according to one Boeing 777 pilot who has followed the money east.
Multiple ads from Chinese airlines on recruitment sites like Wasinc offer monthly salaries of more than $25,000 (with tax paid) for captains.
Tumblr media
"In China, pilots are always in short supply," said Guo Jing, a spokesperson for the airline. "And we offer high salaries because if we don't, nobody will come."
The sums Chengdu and others are willing to pay compare with an average monthly salary of $17,400 for the most senior pilots at major U.S. carriers like United (UAL) and Delta(DAL), according to aviation consultancy Kit Darby.
Related: Airbus offers a peek at its flying taxi
Some top U.S. airlines have recently granted big pay raises as part of new labor agreements, and others are under pressure to do the same. Pilots at some regional carriers can earn less than $25,000 per year, according to the Air Line Pilots Association, International.
Low pay and changes in rules governing pilot flight hours have caused an acute pilot shortage among those smaller carriers in the U.S.
Tumblr media
Despite the head-turning sums, Chinese airlines are still struggling to find enough foreign pilots to match their shiny new jet fleets.
"Their view is, 'We're paying very good money, keep sending us more candidates,'" said Liz Loveridge, North East Asia director for Rishworth Aviation, which recruits pilots. "But we may have a limited number of candidates who will be interested."
Issues such as China's heavy bureaucracy and nasty pollution have prompted some potential candidates to think twice, according to recruiters.
Related: Singapore Airlines shops for world's longest jet
And it can be a long haul from being offered a job to getting the first pay check. The process of getting a Chinese pilot's license -- from putting in the application, traveling to China for a written test and exhaustive medical evaluations, and then returning once more for a test flight -- took Graham about a year, he says.
Such hurdles test how much foreign pilots are willing to go through to land fat salaries in China.
"If you're coming here strictly for a pay check, you're probably not going to be here very long," said Doug Ward, an American who's been flying planes in China for more than seven years. He also acts as a representative for the pilots Wasinc has recruited.
Both he and Graham say they've enjoyed the experience of living in a different culture and the broader horizons it offers for their children.
"We've only been here a year, but if it continues with this path, I'd like to stay as long as I could," Graham said. "I wouldn't mind staying 10 to 12 years."

Hong Kong Airlines to hire 1,000 new pilots, cabin crew, ground staff in 2023
BYGABRIELE PETRAUSKAITE
2023-01-12
Tumblr media
Hong Kong Airlines will hire 1,000 new employees across pilot, cabin crew, and ground staff roles by the end of 2023, stating that the “rapid recovery of air travel demand in sight”.
According to a statement released by Hong Kong Airlines on January 12, 2023, the carrier plans to operate around 75% of its pre-pandemic capacity by the end of the year. The Hong Kong-based carrier also estimated a return to 100% of pre-pandemic capacity levels by mid-2024.
The outlook also took into account China reopening the border to international air travel, which “will definitely be the next market to contribute significantly to [the airline’s, ed.-] travel recovery efforts,” Hong Kong Airlines chairman Hou Wei said.

A320 Line Training
There has never been a better time to become an airline pilot. The industry is facing a critical pilot shortage and pay scales are better than ever. There was a time when pilot training was sponsored by the airline hiring you. Unfortunately, the situation has changed and only few airlines still apply this policy. In the late 90’s, pilots have started to pay for their own pilot training. This has been a controversial discussion at that time but now, it is one of the most popular ways to boost your career and we are here to help you get the best training for the price you pay. Line Training program helps you increase the number of hours flown as well as gain experience in the actual aircraft. By completing the Line Training program you can collect required hours to reach the career you desire. As it is highly requested training and we see lots of different companies which organize that, there have also occurred several cases when pilots pay for a program, don’t start Line Training and never get their money back. Here is something you can do to avoid fraud:
Don’t pay upfront for a promise. A trustworthy company will always provide you with information about the offer, screening dates and deposit will be paid only after signing the contract. An ordinary deposit can’t exceed 15 % of the total cost and you have to receive a document which confirms your payment.
Do your own research. Type a company’s name into your favorite search engine with words like “review,” “complaint” or “scam.” There are many various forums and social media sites where you can find pilots discussing about certain companies which offer Line Training programs. This information can save a lot of money for you if you find out that your chosen company is a scam.
Look for testimonials. If the company is reliable, usually they share success stories that have been told by pilots who finished their program. Normally, the company enables the chance to talk directly to pilots who graduated from such program and hear everything from someone who has already went through the whole process.
History of the company. The company which wasn’t established yesterday will have the whole history behind. This can be really helpful while deciding which one to choose. For example, Leads Aviation consultants is a part of Leads Aviation Group Ltd a Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) listed global provider of one-stop-shop aviation businesssolutions. This innovative and fast growing company has more than 2000 employees living and working in 40 locations worldwide and speaking more than 10 different languages. The Group has developed a strong technical base, necessary infrastructure, teamed and trained top-level professionals and received international activity certification and recognition. When you find this kind of information, it is clear that this company was not founded just to take your money.
Guarantee of security. In order to protect many pilots out there, lac created a special badge which will mark all of our Line Training programs and be the guarantee of security. Apply for a program with a badge which says Leads Aviation Approved Line Training programs” and you will be provided with the best service that you can get in the market. What is most important, you will have a great possibility to be employed as a First Officer with the European airlines. So, if you want to avoid scamming, research well when it comes to picking the right company for a Line Training program. If you have any questions about this program at lac contact us [email protected] Open line training programs at leadsaviation.com
