So im in search of a couple of fic readers to review a story for me. This fic is wildly outside of my comfort zone (in terms of writing, its just up wheelhouse in terms of reading 😉) and im a little concerned it might not be received well because of the subject matter.

This is a CheNonoFord fic in the rookie fandom. (Lucy/Tim/Noah Foster). Its d/s. (Dom, switch, and sub) and involves pushing someone through a trauma to try and help them. The fic mentions rape, but not in explicit detail (though the consensual sex is), human trafficking, and the rape and murder of children. They are brought up repeatedly throughout the fic, but its never described or shown beyond a simple retelling of events (one paragraph). Every rape/murder happens before the story even begins and theres no flashbacks and none of the main characters carried out the atrocities.

Im looking for someone who will not judge, but will give constructive criticism afterwards because like i said, this is like nothing ive ever written before and im a little concerned how it might be received. Basically i need a confidence boost that its not as bad (plot and writing) as im afraid others might think. Without it, this might never see the light of day.

If it was any other fandom, id likely not be as concerned, but the rookie is different in that theres a much smaller percentage of Dead dove style fics in this fandom than any others ive been in and ive seen some drama because a fandom newbie read something they didnt like and started calling fic writers sick and twisted names and insults because they dont know the first rule of fanfic is: dont like dont read. If you have experience in some of the less lawful good fandoms, even better.

So you know how sometimes your brain can think of the most disgusting, or horrifying ideas that make you sick to your stomach that you're even thinking them?  They're called intrusive thoughts. Happens to everyone.  Doesn't mean you're a bad person. Your reaction to them is how you should judge yourself. The thought is involuntary, the reaction is how you actually feel.

Well like most fanfic authors out there, I use these intrusive thoughts to help me be a better writer. So tonight, while my brain started processing my latest fandom obsession and the lackluster season that just finished... I knew this hiatus' "thing" was gonna be alternate universes. Canon is so disappointing right now that we'll all need an escape into a world where they're not undergoing this type of trauma. Last hiatus was Lucy finds out shes pregnant a week after the finale... (I wasn't in this fandom for the previous one so im not sure what it was) but this would be alternate universes. (And I've seen several pop up in the past week) I was rereading my own fic tonight for.... no I don't need a reason.  I wrote it for me, I like reading it. But what if Vanessa Chen hadn't only slept with one patient? Maybe Patrick Walsh was the only one she ever slept with.  What if at some point, Tim was seeing Vanessa in therapy and he was one of the ones she slept with? How would that connection shape their friendship, relationship or fiery hatred? How would being abused at home and being abused in your therapy sessions shape your world view.

I would love to read that fic.  And hats off to anyone who attempts it.  Because that will not be me. I know right now I cannot do it justice, i will never be able to do it justice, so I won't even try.

I know, I know it's not as bad as I first thought.  And you're right.  It's not.  Because that first damn instrusive thought to enter my brain had Tim being Lucy's dad and if I have to have that intrusive thought, now you do to!

Considering this has been the season of parallels, her getting pregnant one episode after she gets promoted would make sense, like Angela made detective and found out she was pregnant at the same time.... I wouldn't put it past the writers

Okay I gotta say chenford discussing baby names while high got me worried again. The last thing Lucy needs is an accidental pregnancy right before her sergeant exam and the last thing I want is for them to get back together because Lucy is fucking pregnant.
