This is my first sketch on Alden, one of the main characters in my vampire novel which has turned into two books in less than a year.

  When we meet Alden in the first book, in the late 1870s, he is known as a baron and also as the lord of Blackwood Park, an old manor house set in the heart of Berkshire, England. He is a beautiful and charismatic character with a dark and secretive side which we will learn more about when the story goes on.

In the second book, which is set earlier in the 1740s, Alden is a young vampire traveling Europe with his brother Sebastian. They have been banished from London because of a quarrel with other vampires that has led to a dramatic outcome. Alden is forced to face his past mistakes and try to make things better for his and his brother's future.

There will be more portraits of him and the other characters in the near future. It is most satisfying to bring these characters to life and to share them with the world!

���I had written him a letter, of course. In that letter I told him that I needed to go and make things better for us and after that we could go back home. I also said that he should go and stay with Raphaël until then and that I would write to him as many times as I could.

When I got into the carriage and we started to move away from Paris, I felt like something big had started in my life. It was hard for me to say then what exactly that was but later I could see it clearer. It was the moment when I started being my full potential, not the person hiding behind his mistakes or behind his brother. I had taken my responsibilities and was trying to make things better. I had never really done that before in my life. My father would have said that at that moment I became a man.

First I traveled to Rouen and stayed there until the sun set again. Then I took a carriage to Le Havre where I was to take a ship that would bring me to London. Though I knew what danger my journey might hold for me, I did not feel afraid. For once I had got up from my knees and decided to fight for the future. For my and Seb's future.”

This is a short piece from the vampire novel I’ve been writing lately. I will keep sharing some other pieces in the future as well so stay tuned!

This is to all you who do not know me from before. My name is Amanda Aalto  and I am a 32-year-old Visual Artisan and an independent musician (and a writer of gothic horror) from South Carelia, Finland. Those who already know me know that I like to challenge myself by trying out many different things, mostly in the field of arts, music, writing and crafts. This account has been made for sharing all those projects and possibly documenting some different phases of those projects as well.

My heart lies with everything dark, beautiful and old. In that way I could say I am an old soul, sometimes struggling in the world we live in today. I enjoy my adventures and have been traveling and living abroad by myself, still keeping the doors of my future open for more exciting findings.

  Here I wish to share my world with you and make new connections that would hopefully lead to new friendships. With all that said, I am glad to meet you and hopefully I can share some of my creative journey with you!
