you know me, i simply cannot get enough of a densely layered plot built on years of trauma where everyone fails to recognize (or ask) enough about what the people they love are dealing with to preempt further damage because they’re so caught up in their own suffering and everyone continues to double down to make everything worse by hurting each other more deeply and everyone is wrong but also justified and then feels isolated and unloved and really really upset
#and the drama is complex enough that the average viewer loses any sense of nuance#yeah this is about ballum#although i also got updated on ethans sl last nigh and like .. hm.#had a much needed 3 min power nap to recover from last nights soap binge and now im revving for more#im starting to miss my life and it will likely only get worse from here yikes being ******** is so inconvenient

Trying to decide which I find worse, the American soaps who completely pretend covid hasn't happened and have lots of actors, particularly elderly ones, interacting maskless; or the UK ones who have characters wear masks when entering buildings from the outdoors and then unmask indoors among each other as if that behavior is logical.
#I know I know filming logistics and protocols and all that other stuff#But if you’re going to set an example etc etc#Anyways while I’m complaining I’m very annoyed that I automatically assume they are going to do something atrocious with this luke sl#I completely believe in the value of entertainment for the morale of the public and possibly even privileging those industries#But I still find it audacious that so many people have sacrificed So Much and we have actors out here in a dif reality

I haven't watched a full ep in 3 years so I could be off base but it seems like ED has added a lot more middle class characters at the expense of working class characters Which IMO are the soul of the show
#Again no idea if true because I don’t know half the cast at this point which is just a great reason to continue not watching#I am just generally hyper aware of class and it’s why I find UK soaps so culturally important
