music tech 2 hw#5
The piece that I made for hw has three patches. The theme for the piece I was going for was a space and atmospheric type of sound. These sounds create an eerie vibe to the piece where it makes it mysterious. The first patch I did was to record and sample any sound I make. I wanted to go for a knocking sound and speed it up a bit to create some tension. Half way through I want to make the audio go in reverse just to switch it up a bit. The second patch I made was a bass synthesizer. The way I created it was to be a one shot synth. I can change the way it sounds by bringing up the pitch and changing the flow on how it sounds too. The last patch I have is pitch. I have two pitchers, one for the bass and the other I can turn it on for a higher pitch.

The relationship between a performer and electronics can range from a subtle augmentation of their abilities to a complete transformation of the performance itself. It allows artists to explore new creative possibilities and push the boundaries of their respective art forms. For example, Musicians often use electronic instruments such as synthesizers, electronic drums, and MIDI controllers to create sounds that are not achievable with traditional acoustic instruments. Another example is Performers can use electronic effects processors to modify and manipulate the sound of their instruments or vocals in real-time. This can include adding reverb, delay, distortion, and other effects. Electronics can play a significant role in enhancing and shaping a performer's output in various artistic disciplines, including music, dance, theater, and visual arts.

Technology plays a significant role in compositions in music. Technology has revolutionized the way artists create and produce their work. In music, for example, musicians use software and hardware synthesizers, digital audio workstations such as FL Studio and Ableton. Many artists also use electronic instruments to compose and produce music. Writers use word processing software to write and edit their texts, and visual artists use digital tools for drawing, painting, and graphic design. Another example, technology enables artists to collaborate with others regardless of geographic distance. Musicians can record and share tracks online, allowing for remote collaborations. Technology also allows for the preservation and archiving of artistic works. Digital copies of books, music, and visual art can be stored and accessed for future generations, reducing the risk of physical deterioration or loss. Technology has become an integral part of the creative process in various artistic disciplines. It empowers artists to create, experiment, collaborate, and share their work in new and innovative ways.

"Hotcakes" by MF DOOM is a track from his album "Mm.. Food," released in 2004. This song showcases DOOM's signature style of intricate wordplay and sampling. The importance of technology in this song can be understood because MF DOOM was known for his innovative use of sampling and production techniques, which were often ahead of his time. MF DOOM's use of technology can be seen in the way he creatively manipulates beats and samples to craft a distinct atmosphere.
When it comes to setting up an audio workstation, both PC and Mac have their own unique advantages and disadvantages. On the Mac side one of the best advantages is that it’s designed to be used for audio production. For example Apple has their own DAW which is called Logic Pro X. Mac also is often praised due to being more user friendly and being easy to use. However on the other hand PC is often much faster than Mac and gets more third party support when it comes to audio production. PCs however can be more cost effective than Macs if you're trying to build your PC from the ground up but it’s more effective long term than Mac.

An article I chose was “The Impact of Technology on the Music Industry” by Southern Utah University. The article stated how the music industry started going through a significant transition due to technological advancements. These advancements affected the way music is made such as DAWs and studios, distribution such as music apps like Spotify, Apple Music, and marketing such as promotion and social media like tik tok or instagram. All of these things has shaped the way the music industry is today and brought new opportunities for artists and listeners.
One thing I want to add to my setup is an MPC. I believe having an MPC would be a great addition because it’s a better and easier way to flip and create samples and create good drum patterns. I’ve been wanting to own one for a long time so hopefully I’ll be able to own one day.
Five different venue places I would love to play music electronically would be Grand Plaza, Venues on the Terrace, Nicotra’s Ballroom, 3JsCreation, and Above Weddings.

A studio I like to record in is a studio that has the best or popular artist that recorded. I would like for the studio to be comfortable and spacious so everyone can be comfortable. There would be a variety of instruments and high-quality equipment available, including a grand piano, a vintage microphone, and a mixing console with a wide range of outboard gear. The studio would also have a comfortable lounge area where musicians could relax and recharge during long recording sessions.

The article “How AI is Changing the Future of Music” is talking about how artificial intelligence is impacting the music tech industry. AI is transforming the way musicians work and the way we experience music. One area where AI is making a significant impact is in music composition. Companies like Amper Music, Jukedeck, and AIVA are using AI algorithms to generate original music pieces based on various inputs such as genre, tempo, and mood. AI is also improving the quality of music production. For example, Landr, a cloud-based music production platform. This saves time and money for musicians who don't have access to expensive mastering equipment or who lack the technical knowledge to master their tracks themselves. The impact of AI on the music industry is significant and multifaceted. While there are valid concerns about the role of AI in the creative process as technology continues to evolve, it will be fascinating to see how AI and music intersect in the future.

Music hw #5
The song “She” by Tyler the Creator was made on a DAW back in 2011. The song has a laid back, atmospheric, and dark vibes with a mixture of rap and singing. The rhythm of the song goes with the tempo of 76 BPM so it’s slow and relaxed. The drums and kicks have a simple pattern but the bass is punchy but doesn’t overpower the vocals. The melody of the song is also simple and sounds very synthetic. It’s built around an electric piano, an electric guitar, a synth pad and piano. The form follows a basic structure of verse, chorus, verse with a bridge section to end the song off. The harmony in the song is also simple as the electric guitar riff stays on a pentatonic scale. The bass and synth pad adds some harmonic interest. The production techniques for “She” was adding a lot of reverb and delay in order to get that atmospheric and dark vibe.

One thing that interests me about the fields of musical technology is how people get to know numerous ways of learning music production. Over the past few years there has been a growing number of research and development in learning music tech, which can create new tools and new techniques that allows musicians or producers to create music in many ways. One example of this is the use of the many tools that DAW's provide for musicians and producers. These DAW's can be used for things such as mixing, recording, and composing music. This can open up new ideas for the musician or producer because they all of these tools in one software they can work or experiment with. This is also good for people who just started making music because even though they aren't that experienced they can learn with just a quick research and there able to see how the software works. Another example is the use of generative models to create music. These models can be used for a data of existing music and then it's used to generate something new in a similar style. This has the potential to revolutionize the way music is created and bring in a new form of music tech creators. Overall musical technology is evolving rapidly and it's been able to create new opportunities for people who want to create music.
