i love that maxwell’s entire role this episode was to be the failboy of the group. almost falls off when walking the plank. has less whimsy than wealwell. starts talking and immediately pisses off two separate factions. has no skills that relate to observation or tools or anything all he knows is punch and be rowdy. 10/10 character no notes

Lou's talent for creating quiet and beautifully intimate scenes is remarkable. From Kingston throughout The Unsleeping City to the plethora of Monty scenes this season, he always manages this feat. Often he'll soften his voice a little, slow his speech slightly and very earnestly regard the other character in the scene. Sometimes it's his ex-wife like in the case of Liz. Sometimes the other character is a nocturnal zebra. Doesn't matter. He's so strong and gentle and warm, and he uses his natural charisma to bring us in and make us feel like we're a part of it.

I am so impressed with ally’s game play so far. it could easily get frustrating to play the only low level character in a party, but they have been so clever and humble with their moves and found really interesting ways to be genuinely helpful while honoring the reality and stakes of olethra’s circumstances

And now, you could use this method to draw anything you can visualise with your mind's eye, but for the sake of this demonstration, let's draw a vision of a woman with features of an animal whose powers and traits she represents, and a figure that is stylised and exaggerated beyond what nature really allows. caveman: As wide as she is tall, with tits to match? me: Exactly. caveman: This is the only sensible use of this technology.

pappy’s thousand yard stare is killing me

Maxwell is my instant favourite. He's a younger sibling. Hes a rowdy (read as extremely queer coded). He feels bloodlust at the sight of shirtless men in a boxing way (and gay way). He exclusively takes off his gloves with his teeth and carries oil around just in case he has to wrestle. He JUMPED on a PLANE to throw the pilot out because weapons are 'uncivilized' and succeeded. He is cursed apparently we will see in episode 3

some fun new things we learned:

everyone has homebrewed ship abilities that we're finding out as they play, i.e. dangerous rise, inspiring invective, rain of lead, etc.

monty is a monster hunter ranger, marya is a battlesmith artificer, max is a squared circle pugilist, pappy is a gunslinger fighter, and olethra has no subclass. van is the only unknown, because i'm still looking into her ability set. they seem to revolve around knack points and unarmed combat, with her prosthetic in use as a weapon. if anyone has info lmk.

update: van is a reskinned blade breaker fighter

some fun tactics. i love ally really committing to olethra's 11 hp and staying stealthed the whole battle, while keeping the documents safe

max is so so funny. just chucking guys. the platonic ideal of a gentleman fister.

emily always embodies her characters so fully, but i have never seen such a visceral, gut reaction from her as when brennan said that the dead energy field was emanating from the photograph of marya's protégé

i teared up before even seeing that she had as well just from the sheer grief and dismay in her voice

and the way she refused to speak and immediately moved on... marya junková what are you DOING to me
