RANT: So I'm getting really fed up with all the fan-on-fan hatred in the X-Men fandom towards Gambit as a character which more or less translates to sneering at his fans, many of us who are women and/or queer. This feels especially tired when X-Men is supposed to be about a group of people who are alienated, hated, feared and excluded for being different. Women especially already feel like outsiders in comics fandom. So having a bunch of men publicly bashing our favorite character and rolling their eyes while touting their dissaproving "Gambivalence" feels like them saying "your favorite character is awful and you're stupid for liking them". And then they wonder why so few women participate in comics circles?! And even whine about "Why doesn't my wife/girlfriend not like comics?" 😫 We have been told by men our whole lives that OUR interests are childish and stupid (chick flicks, romance, sexy movies). Ohhhh, but THEIR favorites! Their favorite character is oh so amazing and perfect and blameless and SOOO cool! Because they are men and men are right and SO smart! 🙄 If you want more women in comics, how about listen to US for a change about what we like and about what we ACTUALLY find "creepy" and gross? Why do they think so many of us have gone underground to fanfic and webcomics rather than mainline fare?! If you don't like a character, fine. But do you NEED to yuck in our YUM??? Does that make you feel superior and oh so smart? FED UP.

AITA. My son-in-law has no respect for family values.

My wife (?F) and I ( a lot of F) adopted a little girl years ago.

She was beautiful and perfect. We trained her to fight our enemies. She even defeated one of our biggest rivals when she was just a teenager.

Her abilities are amazing and because of that she didn’t have to worry about age appropriate distractions like boys or other nonsense.

But it turns out that as a teenager she wanted that nonsense. So one day she decided that dedicating her life to fighting for our cause wasn’t enough.

And she ran off with a bald (and stupid) professor who promised to help her.

There she was not only brainwashed with goody-goody. They made her believe that violence is not the solution. They made her believe that we can coexist in peace with humans.

But she met this … Man. A bayou scoundrel. A dirty thief. And they fell in love. And with my girl’s abilities I thought it would keep him away from her. But he didn’t even care that he couldn’t touch her!

My wife has tried to keep that relationship from going forward. She has tried to seduce him dozens of times. She even pretended to be our daughter. But it didn’t work.

I’ve been away for…reasons and when I came back I found out they’ve married.

And as much as her mother and I insist that the bastard is not worthy of her, she insists that she loves him and that he makes her happy. And not only that, that dirty rat is incapable of taking her mind off the nonsense of being a hero and fighting for others. If only he would think like us.

I don’t know what to do anymore to get her away from someone who doesn’t respect the values we train our child in.

Life has been tough recently, so here is a sketch of gambit and rogue’s cats playing poker with Lockheed and Jeff the land shark. The cats are cheating, of course, and Jeff doesn’t know what’s going on. Lockheed’s roasting marshmallows because why not? Obviously an homage to the kitsch classic ‘A Friend in Need’, from the dogs playing poker series.

Good list! Also when cooking on a budget, a slow cooker (like a crock pot) is worthwhile investment (about 20-30 bucks or you could look for one used.) Because you can do stuff like, put dried beans (cheaper than canned, but take a long time to cook) and water in before work and they’re done when you get home. You can also use cheap, tough cuts of meat and when cooked in a slow cooker, will get much more tender.

I was helping a friend out earlier but then realized I could also share a few small tips on how to shop for groceries on a budget with u guys too!
