stop ignoring yourself. fix your posture, get a new hair cut, do your nails, take care of your skin, brush your teeth, drink water, eat foods that give you energy. get strong, stop looking sloppy. when you feel good, you do good. invest in yourself.

one of the biggest things I can advocate for (in academia, but also just in life) is to build credibility with yourself. It’s easy to fall into the habit of thinking of yourself as someone who does things last minute or who struggles to start tasks. people will tell you that you just need to build different habits, but I know for me at least the idea of ‘habit’ is sort of abstract and dehumanizing. Credibility is more like ‘I’ve done this before, so I know I can do it, and more importantly I trust myself to do it’. you set an assignment goal for the day and you meet it, and then you feel stronger setting one the next day. You establish a relationship with yourself that’s built on confidence and trust. That in turn starts to erode the barrier of insecurity and perfectionism and makes it easier to start and finish tasks. reframing the narrative as a process of building credibility makes it easier to celebrate each step and recognize how strong your relationship with yourself can become

my study tips!
...from a psychology master's student who is used to studying 2-3 books for each exam
I collected a few tips from my very own experience, and i wanted to share them with you all. Note that everyone is different, and this might not work for you, but if you are still looking for your personal study method, these might be worth a try!
knowing what your exam is about
this might sound so so obvious but it is not. when your exam has a big amount of topics, many different books to study from, or simply it is difficult, you should always take a couple of hours understating what topics you're gonna study, how they connect to each other, and even the pragmatical consequences of what you're studying. Oftentimes it is simple to lose motivation because you don't know why you're studying something. you need to understand the bigger picture first, and then you'll have the motivation to cover all the topics.
2. dividing your to do list by topics rather than time or quantity
I keep seeing posts on studyblr about studying for x amount of hours, but personally, when I set myself a goal measured in quantity (for example, quantity of pages studied / amount of time spent studying) I start stressing. Not all the topics have the same amount of difficulty, and 3 pages of one topic might take you one hour to study, simply because they're hard to understand. Other than that, I think that it is important to learn proper time management. This is why I personally started being more flexible with my daily goals (otherwise I stress myself out!) and my goals are divided by topics.
For example I'll tell myself that by a certain day I should cover the first topic or the first chapter of a book.
3. building your knowledge step by step
my very own professors tell us students that it is impossible to learn everything about a topic. I personally have always struggled remembering details. This year I started building my knowledge gradually: firstly I try to understand the general topic, and active recall the main concepts. Then, I add more details. Lastly, I try to build logical connections to all the topics + have a critical approach to what I have studied.
