Beakan's death and its aftermath was one of my favorite moments in this drama. None of these characters know how to function without being absolutely obsessed with someone else

I am nowhere near there yet on my rewatch but I peeked at one of my fave scenes (in 45) and oh boy! I don't think I've seen another kdrama with a couple this fucked up, this codependent, this making each other worse and yet not able to let go.

Like they are SO FUCKED UP!!! When you remember how they started...it really is one of the best "loving each other did not make them happier or better" narratives but in that palace, there could be no more positive outcome, could there?

Like - he is UNHINGED and she is goading it because she actually gets off on how unhinged she can make him.

I mean, that's the truly epic thing - not that he goes all psycho but that she craves it and needs it because with her issues, it is his utter inability to control himself about her or let go or be functional or really be anything but a starving irrational monster who craves her that makes him the most attractive choice. Like - this is her thoughts after that insane sequence, after a sex scene which, though it cut away, definitely looked like he was not taking no for an answer, except - when we see this - is clear exactly what she wanted.
