Your portrayal is solid. I really like that you acknowledge and write that he's more than a walking punchline, you really bring depth to him as a result, and when you do diverge from canon on things your reasoning makes sense and flows. However when you do bring out the humor it's always top shelf tbh 👌

can he cook

this (  & the whole post now that i’m thinking about it more ) stems back into his human life. he was the eldest of two sisters & often would help his mother care for them both. this included doing things like laundry & yeah, cooking. he became rather proficient at whatever his mother needed help with due in large part to his OCD ( he was definitely a checker & an arranger ) that excessive focus made him a god-send to his mother. he actually really liked cooking ! sadly though his father was sipping on that gender-role juice. he was a real dickhead & would often chastise cayo for helping his mother with house work. & as soon as he was deemed ‘ old enough ‘ he took cayo away & screwed that nice boy up..............

................. anyways, let’s stop that tangent before it gets going.

as for his life as an exo -- i still want to say yes, he can cook. the slight problem lies in him not technically having a sense of taste ( e.g: an actual tongue, taste buds. ) he has memory. in this post i explained exos perception of taste & how it relies heavily on latent memory, so remembering things they had eaten while human &  experiencing ‘ taste ‘ & enjoying ‘ eating ‘ in that way. he absolutely could make things like paella, pisto, & fabada from his childhood & enjoy them because memory would allow him to. if he was making something he’d never had before? he can make it -- but wouldn’t be able to enjoy it & its own flavors, memory would take over ( make an association either by color, consistency, ingredients etc. ) & it would taste like something else he’s had before.

NOW THAT THAT HAS BEEN SAID: ramen, which has been popularized as his favorite food, doesn’t actually taste like ramen to cayde because he’s never had it before. it tastes like cocido madrileno, his favorite soup as a boy.
